Lucky Envelope
Will W.

Service was quick and pleasant. Though we had a reservation, it seems we came in on a quieter night - but it was pretty calm in general, given how it's in the midst of a casino. Now, here's why I docked stars from this review: - The Peking Duck was just alright, though it felt more like roasted duck to us. This is mainly because of how the duck skin wasn't crispy and, frankly, felt a bit on the rubbery side. Plus, the overall dish didn't seem that fresh. - Speaking of freshness, the Lucky Envelope mocktail was alright for a mocktail, but the Crazy for Coconuts cocktail just felt off - especially with how the pearls didn't feel fresh in this drink, as it felt more powdery and like it was left out for some time. - Lastly, everything seemed pretty overpriced for what we got. All in all, we're probably not gonna be coming back any time soon.

This is a great restaurant! It's a bit odd you actually seem to have to enter through the casino but this is a great spot!! The ambience and decor was beautiful and the staff was exceptional!! We got to try a lot of the food options and it was all so delicious!! Some of the food was a bit pricey, but it was all really good!! My favorite was probably the bbq pork which was perfectly cooked and super flavorful, but the chow mein and Peking duck was also good! The chili wontons were pretty spicy but delicious! The shumai and steamed pork bun were great choices if you like dim sum options! We also got great spring rolls and crab Rangoon along with some green beans and bok choy For dessert we tried the sweet buns that were served with some sort of sweet cream dip that was to die for the drinks were also amazing although I forget the names of the specific ones we ordered

Really good Chinese food in the Encore Boston casino. Everything we tried came out piping hot and tasted great. Our waitress was very kind and provided great service. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 starts is because they are quite expensive!

Soup dumplings,

Wonderful! Thank you so much for having me at your restaurant. Nia was a fantastic server.

Best food ever. The service was tops. A 10 for sure. I loved the vibe. Being able to hear and see the casino scene was awesome!

I was so disappointed when I got my Mongolian beef... This was my FAVORITE DISH to get at Red 8. The beef was super tender and flavorful before. The quality of the beef was like steak. If you look back on my recent photos and compare to my recent trip, you can tell the quality fell off. To charge $31 for a dish that looks like it's from a local corner fast food Chinese restaurant is ridiculous. If I could, I would've went back and requested the dish to be remade lol it was that bad. Luckily the general gaos was good. If it's a chef thing, please do us all a favor and let him/her go lol I'm hoping I just went on a bad day... I will come back and hope that it's better.

We went for drinks and apps what we got was great! But the server wasn't very nice. I love that the restaurants in the casino/hotel put your purses on chairs. If you like spice I would get the spicy chili wontons! The ambiance is great it's a fun lounge with casino floor views

For the past few months, I've dined here a couple of times. I have tried their Mongolian beef, steamed shrimp & pork shu mai, whole peking duck, sweet and sour pork, Mongolian beef, sauteed pea pods, braised tofu, Wagyu beef pot stickers, chicken & salty fish fried rice, Malaysian pineapple shrimp & chicken fried rice. The Mongolian beef was definitely one of my favorite dishes there. The beef was very tender and the dish had the right amount of spice. The shrimp and pork shu mai is definitely a good appetizer. The shu mai were plump and juicy. Although they don't carve the peking duck in front of you, the peking duck is actually really good. I wish they gave us more scallions and cucumbers for the wraps though. The braised tofu, sweet and sour pork, and the chicken and salty fish fried rice were all delicious. On the other hand, the Malaysian pineapple and chicken fried rice was a disappointment. The pineapple chunks were sour and the fried rice was very bland. For drinks, I have tried both the Lucky Envelope and Strawberry Bliss. The Lucky Envelope came with strawberry and lychee puree, mint, lime and soda water. It was pretty good. The Strawberry Bliss was made up of strawberry puree, pomegranate juice, basil and lemon. I didn't really like it. Service is a hit or miss. Sometimes, the waitstaff is very attentive and other times, they are not. Overall, I gave this place a solid four stars.

Dried out chicken fried rice

We had reservations and waited for a table an additional 15 minutes. We had high expectation as we were staying at the Wynn. We were quite disappointed. We split the chicken fried rice and it was so dry and bland with very little chicken. Quite disappointing especially within such a classy place. The noise level was extremely high then became tolerable as people left.

This dish is mostly flour except for a little fat. It is fried and mainly consists of flour. It costs $26.88. In addition, the waiter's service attitude is very bad.

What kind of drinks do they serve? I don't see a drink menu anywhere.

They have a cocktail menu, soft drinks, and coffee. I recommend the latte . It's really great

They were fresh and tasty. I also got a general gau chicken which I know is more Americanized Chinese food but got it since it was offered as a plate with rice. It was tasty, a little spicy and a large portion--I had leftovers. First of all, the arrangement they had for queueing for tables was a bit confusing and unclear. We were given a slip of a paper with a number on it, which the hostess eventually called out after about 10 minutes. I wish they had a more seamless system for handling this (in an app or taking phone numbers instead). We ordered lots of dishes to share.. pineapple buns with roast pork, the viral crab rangoon scallion pancake, soup dumplings, rice rolls with ribs, etc. The standout for me was definitely the crab rangoon scallion pancakes. I 100% get the hype! It's ooey and gooey and perfect for any crab rangoon lover. I was however pretty disappointed in the pineapple buns (one of my favorite dishes) and soup dumplings, which honestly just tasted like they were frozen and reheated from the grocery store. The service was also very absent and it took awhile for us to wave someone down so we could pay our bill. Not sure if we visited on an off day or something, but I wasn't very impressed.

One dish I would recommend is Xi'an Cold Rice noodles, it's an appetizer but was on par for a dish. The proportion was on the larger side and it had a perfect spice, all I have to say was it was delicious and for $9.95 you cannot go wrong. The dan dan noodles were good, but I would say the cold noodles were better. The golden buns were also great, a classic dish that is always loved with a great crisp. We did get the wrong sushi roll, unsure if they misheard us or if they thought we pointed to a different one but I'm glad they did because the Thunder Roll was delicious. I think it was the yellowtail that was on top that tied everything together, it was just really good. Overall a great place for dishes if you haven't tried it before you won't be disappointed.

We had a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon for less than $40 b As an operations guy, my suggestion to management would be to suggest two things: 1. The salmon sashimi I had was a bit cold. It may be because I was at the 5:30 seating, but it taste better cool, but not cold. 2. Not sure where the bottles of wine are stored, but our cab was warm. Analogous to the sushi, red wine is better cool to room temperature vs warm. Again, I am a big fan of this place. What we got: - Hot and sour soup - Eggplant and short rib hot pot - Lobster sautéed in ginger scallion sauce The hot and sour was maybe the best I've had. It was packed with tofu, mushrooms, and a delicious broth. We ordered a "small" it was huge! The eggplant and short rib was without a doubt the best I've had. The eggplant was perfectly cooked. The beef was incredibly tender. All in a perfect sauce. It came out in a sizzling bowl. This is a dish to dream of. The sautéed lobster was also a knock-out. Perfectly cooked. I haven't had this dish often, so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but we loved it. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes. Definitely recommend stopping in!

Unfortunately, Yelp doesn't allow for half stars, but Yunnan Kitchen would be a solid 4.5/5 for me…read more A group of friends and I made the trek to the South End on a rather sad, rainy day, so we had high expectations for the food. For the most part, Yunnan delivered. We came in on a Sunday at 5 pm, and the restaurant was moderately busy. We were able to find seating and order relatively quickly. Based on one friend's suggestion and a bit of online help, we ordered the Boiled Fish Fillet in Chili Oil, the Mint Beef, the Potato Pancake, and the Stir-Fried Rice Cakes. Overall, the meal was pretty good. The stars of the dinner were the Stir-Fried Rice Cakes and the Mint Beef (which was realllyyyy minty and herbaceous), while the fish tasted pretty standard for a typical Chinese restaurant. The Potato Pancake added some nice texture, but it wasn't particularly memorable and I probably wouldn't order it again. Now you might ask... okay? Cozy restaurant, fast service, good food--why the 0.5 off? And sadly, it was the dessert. Call me picky, but this was the part I had the highest hopes for. After finishing our meal, we decided to get the Coconut Delight and the Devil Sweet Sticky Balls (their words, not mine). The Coconut Delight was... okay. The best part was the bread (three pieces per cup), which, when soaked in the coconut milk, was just heavenly. But beyond that, the dish resembled a rather sad, runny coconut sago. The Devil Sweet Sticky Balls weren't much better. We loved the texture of the rice balls (chewy!), but the brown sugar syrup tasted burnt and left a strange, bitter aftertaste. This may have been a one-off, so we'll have to return to verify (and when we do, I'll update this review). But to give Yunnan the benefit of the doubt, I'll round up to a full 5 stars for now. For main dishes, fast service, and a cozy ambiance, Yunnan hits all the right boxes (just not quite dessert!)

The food is authentic Yunnan cuisine, and while many menu items are labeled spicy, I wouldn't consider them very spicy. The flavors are more well-seasoned with just a slight hint of spice. The stir-fried rice cakes were delicious and reminded me of pad see ew in texture and flavor. The beef with longhorn peppers was very tender, and the sweet and sour pork had the perfect balance of crispiness, sweetness, and tang. The fish fillet in chili oil came in a huge portion, but I wished it had more spice. It tasted more like lightly spiced oil and lacked additional depth of flavor. I also did not enjoy the Dali mushrooms, as they were very dry and bland even with the side of chili powder. Overall, I would come back because the food is good, but if you're expecting bold heat, I recommend asking for a higher spice level. The service was okay.
