Utilizing a coupon I got from another app, I decided to give this place a shot. There is parking in the area, but most of it is paid parking. They were decently busy with a few orders before and after me. I got there Notorious bowl w/ chorizo which came out in about 15 minutes. Perhaps it was the bowl I ordered, but I found it to be a bit too heavy. Many of the parts of the dish were heavily salted, fried, or pickled. So I found that it was missing something that could help balance the dish. Everything tasted pretty good individually but it's still seemed like something was missing as a whole. Overall, I was pretty satisfied for it being a vegan place. I would definitely need to try one of their other dishes to see if it's more to my liking. Staff were nice and it's always cool to be in one of these casual and busy cafeteria like environments to people watch while eating. Will try them again! read more

I can't believe I didn't take a pic of my bowl before I devoured it. Spoiler- it didn't even need the dressing. I order this through UberEats so I did not get a chance to experience the service and ambiance. What I did get was a bowl that puts Cava to shame. Got the Year of the Tiger bowl (with avocado added) today for lunch! It was incredibly flavorful and well seasoned. My favorite component of the bowl was the beet chips. They gave an ample side of sauce to use on the bowl, but I only ended up needing a small amount because it was pretty spicy. The avocado was a bit pricy to add ($2.50 for a small half of an avo), but I understand that prices are increasing everywhere nowadays. I was able to taste the following tapas: cauliflower, yuca fries, & loaded sweet potatoes 10/10 recommend all 3. The flavor is outstanding and the presentation of the food is great. While traveling down to the South opens you up to some incredible soul food, after a while, you will find yourself craving vegetables at times. Recess was an incredible find for that. Did not enjoy my meal at all. Ordered year of the tiger.. The chicken was unseasoned and for almost $5 was not worth the add on. It looked so unappealing I had to give it away. The restaurant doesn't even give a cup for water and I could tell that customer service was not really valued here. No one takes your order, you have to place the order via the app. There are so many better places at Krog to get food. For over $17 for a small bowl, it's not worth it. I'm a huge fan of the Castellucci restaurants and just realized that Recess was one of their many successful ventures in Krog Street Market (AND Bar Mercado?! CHG going places!). We received some coupons for any CHG restaurant at a recent Yelp event so we decided to make a trip to Recess to try them out! There's a cute bar area you can sit and order drinks, including their frozé! I decided to skip on the drinks, especially since you can only order them if you sit at their bar. The lady at the register recommended the My Farro Lady but I couldn't decide between that and the Super Bowl. The sweet potato caught my eye, but I couldn't stop eyeing the kale pesto on the My Farro Lady. She suggested I order the My Farro Lady with sweet potato, which she allowed for no additional charge! I also added on some salmon because I do like some meat for protein! It is a little pricier that way, but I do know good quality salmon does cost about that much to add to any salad in most places. I loved the My Farro Lady! I liked the kale pesto and I really like farro grains. The salmon was cooked to perfection. Overall, I will definitely need to come back to try the bar menu, but in the meantime, I love the healthy option that Recess offers at Krog Street Market. read more

It's a big delicious bowl of all kinds of goodies including kale, charred broccoli, brussels and pear slaw, citrus red onion, turmeric cabbage, pepita dukkah and tossed in a turmeric-black pepper vinaigrette. I love the tangy crunch of the red onion with all of the yummy greens. It is super tasty, especially with some fresh avocado on top. It's quite filling and more often times than not, it turns into 2 meals (or at least a meal and a snack). Or, if you're feeling nice, you can share. Once you add avocado, this bowl will run you just under $12. They have a variety of bowls and salads to choose from as well as a selection of toasts (choco-hazelnut, anyone?) and sandwiches. This place makes it hard to be unhealthy, so what a welcome option at Krog! Service is always friendly and helpful, and the wait isn't long to receive your order. Came here with a friend who is vegetarian, and their menu is entirely vegetarian friendly, with the option to add proteins, and many vegan items as well. I got the Honey Bee toast and a side of curried cauliflower. The bread was lovely -- perfectly grainy and thick. The almond butter is relatively mild in taste, so I appreciated the honey on top, and the salt that gave it a fun texture. Cauliflower was also really good -- it is served cold though, as a heads up. I at first thought adding fruit to it would be strange, but I liked the sweet to balance out the savory of the curry. Did not love the celery, but that's just a personal taste thing. The seating is bar seating, but since this is located at Krog Street Market, you can also take it to go and sit at the communal tables.
