This place has been around for quite some time and I can't believe I've just now tried it! They are a purely vegan/vegetarian restaurant, something different for the meat eaters out there. We went for lunch during the weekday and there were a few diners, though they were not overly busy. We were seated right away but it took a minute for our server to come. However, once he came service was excellent. We were starving by that point so I got the curry bowl (tons of veggies with curry sauce on top of brown rice) and my husband order a gyro (seitan with your traditional gyro toppings with fries). We truly enjoyed everything we had. The bowl was easily a serving for two people so I have plenty of leftovers! This is a must-try if you're in your health journey or just want to try something different!

I visited Cafe Sunflower in Buckhead on a Saturday around 5pm. At first, the restaurant was nearly empty, but by 6pm it was completely packed. We were seated in a small room by a window. The service was... just service. Nothing particularly welcoming or attentive, but we did get served, so I'll leave it at that. We ordered several appetizers to start: Impossible Wontons - I usually avoid Impossible meat, but decided to give this a try. Unfortunately, I should have trusted my instincts. The wontons were fried too hard, had no cream cheese, as expected in wontons and came. Fried Avocado Egg Rolls - These were disappointing. The filling was mostly blended avocado and cilantro, which created a gritty texture, plus a single slice of avocado in the center. The flavor was flat, and one piece of avocado was brown. Fried Brussels Sprouts - Nicely fried (blanched, then battered and fried whole), but the sweet sauce was overpowering for my taste. If you enjoy sweet flavors with vegetables, you might like this dish more than I did. For the main course, we tried the Gyro Sandwich with Seitan Chicken, and this was easily the highlight of the meal. The seitan was seasoned well, the produce was fresh, and everything came together nicely. I would definitely recommend this dish. We ended with the Carrot Cake. It was decent but not traditional--lots of chopped nuts throughout, which dominated the texture. If you love nuts, you'll probably enjoy it; if not, it might not be for you. Overall, the restaurant itself was clean and had a relaxed, chill environment. While not everything we tried was a hit, the gyro stood out as a winner, and the atmosphere was pleasant. The food portions were large. The prices were good for what we received.

My aunt who is vegetarian came to visit and I decided to take her here as I enjoyed my first experience at the restaurant. Upon arrival, we were instantly seated and waited on. Actually, the service was great all evening. We weren't rushed but we could always find our server. Inside the restaurant, it was peaceful. It wasn't extremely loud so my aunt and I could catch up and not have to scream. Plus, the restaurant was clean which is great of course. Now for the food! We were both satisfied with our food except for the Brussels sprouts. They should've been crispy but they were more soft and steamed. I took them home to grill some more. But other than that, all was great and would return!

I've been a loyal customer of Cafe Sunflower for many years, but today was quite disappointing. Although I was seated before at least two other tables, I waited several minutes for my waitress, who was polite. As time passed, I noticed other tables receiving the same appetizer I had ordered. When I mentioned it to her, she explained that she intended for it to arrive after my meal. However, even after 20 minutes, when it still didn't arrive, she attributed the delay to a new chef. This experience might mark the end of an era for me.

What a great experience...celebrating one of my dearest friends birthday here was such a treat. She is a vegetarian, and when we go out for dinner she's always so sweet and accommodating to the rest of us and finds things on any menu that work for her vegetarian diet. So we picked this spot just for her, so many amazingly delicious choices....i never missed a morsel of meat. We started with appetizers and wine..and it was a great indicator of what was to come. Avacado Spring Rolls, Crispy Brussels Sprouts and we shared a Harvest Salad- that thyme vinaigrette dressing is delicious... for entree we had - and shared (between the 3 of us) Orzo Eggplant Lasagna, Fettuccine Alfredo and the Sunflower Loaf (impossible meat loaf) everything was spot on flavor wise and presented beautifully. I can't say enough about my experience here - a vegan restaurant that's been around Atlanta for over 30 years is hitting the mark - I will go back ..oh and there was dessert too ...Strawberry Shortcake and Chocolate Ganache Raspberry cake... all served in a very relaxed atmosphere. Why then did I just give 4 stars ...at times we waited longer than we had hoped for service, refills etc...it was clear on this night they could have used at least another 1 or 2 servers... but an amazingly delicious meal and kind, gracious, knowledgeable staff.

9-21-25 I had the review of my last visit (from 2023) sitting in draft. But since I visited today I've added more photos and the following review. Visited with a few friends to celebrate a birthday. We arrive promptly at 12 noon and was greeted by the host and quickly seated. Our server, Richard was amazing! He informed us of the specials of the day and he was excited about every single thing that he told us about including the two for one strawberry lemonade, drinks, and the steak special . We ordered 'Starters' and our 'Main Entree' together and the food was served promptly. Everything was delicious and we were full. Afterwards, Richard asked about desserts and we each ordered each cake so we could all taste everything. And of course in CSB fashion it was ALL delicious! I truly need to make this a "go to" spot more often! I do wish they'd add more options like vegan "soul food" on Sundays. I'll be back!

The star of the show were the Brussels spirits, "chick-n" Parmesan, and the old fashioned chocolate cake. The Brussels sprouts are crispy, sweet, with a hint of spicy. The perfect combination. The chick-n Parmesan is a perfectly balanced dish, the favors are harmonious. Absolutely delicious...we order the dish again for pick up the next day. Tasted just as great as when you're sitting down in the restaurant. Let's get into this old fashion chocolate cake.... Somebody grandma made this cake.....dangerous delicious. I think about the girl cake everyday.

I've driven past this restaurant many times and finally decided to place a to-go order. After my experience, I'll definitely be returning to dine in--the atmosphere is incredibly calming, with soft, dim lighting that creates a relaxing ambiance. For my order, I chose the Fettuccine Alfredo with Soy Chicken and Steamed Pot Stickers. The fettuccine had a rich, creamy sauce that surprised me--it was made from cashews! I've tried making a similar sauce at home, but it didn't turn out nearly as well. The portion was generous, lasting me three meals over two days. Next time, I'll skip the soy chicken--it was an extra $8, but the portion was small and not the most flavorful. The pot stickers, on the other hand, were delicious. They felt heartier than traditional ones, packed with vegetables, and a healthier option overall. The menu offers a great variety, from burgers and fries to even a Vegan Steak--which has me curious! I'll definitely be back when I'm in the mood for flavorful, meatless options.

    Curry bowl

The ambiance is beautiful and the food is tasty. I ordered the curry bowl, which was a nice portion and just enough spice for me. I also ordered the chocolate moose cake. It was okay. It had an after taste and missing the raspberry drizzle that they described. Overall, the food was good!

Had a great meal here. We arrived at opening and there were people waiting to get in. Good sign! We were seated promptly and ordered the fried avocado taco starter, prepared gluten free. For mains we ordered the Nourishing Bowl and Fettuccini Alfredo as our mains, and they were delicious! Also got a Green Juice. The service was prompt, efficient and friendly. The interior decor was welcoming and decorated tastefully for Christmas. Will definitely visit again when we are in town. The tacos were the star of the meal, for sure.

Awesome food in a really nice setting with good service. I'm used to NYC vegan prices, and these were about 20% less (especially for alcohol) so that made me happy. Fried avocado tacos were great (wish there was an option to add a 4th so that two people could split it evenly). Spinach artichoke dip was the best vegan version I've ever had, and the meatloaf was good. Shoutout to the fantastic sauce on that dish. Good service, too. We were very happy with this restaurant. Just one note: when Googling to see if they were open, Google said there were no tables available. We called, and she said there were. The restaurant was almost empty, so don't trust the Goog.

Visited on a Wednesday evening to celebrate my sister's birthday. This is a small but cute café with a good amount of seating. Towards the back is a bar with wine, beer, fresh juices, and a few other beverage options but there is no bar seating. I was able to be seated while I waited for the rest of the party. I ordered the brussel sprouts and a glass of pinot noir. Those brussel sprouts were delicious with a nice crunch even though there was a sauce on them. The rest of the party slowly trickled in and ordered more appetizers. We had more brussel sprouts, dumplings, spinach and artichoke dip, spring rolls, and polpette. Dumplings were ok. Spinach and artichoke was good but we didn't care for the chips. I didn't try the spring rolls but there were no complaints from those that did. I didn't eat the meatballs from the polpette but that marinara sauce was delicious. I ordered the pesto pasta as my entree. The pasta was good but was a bit acidic which I assume was due to the artichoke and/or capers. I got a to go box and added some pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder when I reheated which helped the taste. I also got the carrot cake to go and that was really good. Overall this was a great experience and I thoroughly enjoyed myself and the food. Can't wait to go back.

Does the menu have just vegan options, or is it vegetarian and vegan?

The menu is all plant based (vegan). Don't let that stop you from trying it! The meatloaf and mashed potatoes would please any omnivore.

Is it kid friendly for a family birthday dinner?

Yes. I had a luncheon with 10 people. Lots of space

    Is there beer or alcohol?

They have craft beers and wine. I'm not sure if they offer anything else.:-D

My girlfriend, her son, and I requested a booth. The hostess told us the wait time would be 20 minutes. Over 45 minutes had passed and we were still waiting for the booth. Another party had several minutes after us and they were immediately seated in a booth. Management admitted they unintentionally seated the other party first and they apologized. To compensate for this mistake, the server still honored the Happy Hour menu; our wait was so long that Happy Hour had just ended. We initially ordered an appetizer that was not eligible for the Happy Hour rate, so we changed our order to fried calamari (not pictured). The server originally still attempted to serve our first appetizer after we mentioned that we wanted the calamari. After this correction was made, the fried calamari was excellent. It was crunchy on the outside while chewy on the inside. The roasted jalapeño tartar sauce and spicy tomato sauces were perfect sides to the dish. As soon as the meal arrived, it was a decent finish to a rocky start. The steak was cooked medium, but still had a fair amount of pink. The cut was tender and juicy. I especially enjoyed the dipping sauce because of its bourbon flavor; I highly recommend requesting a second cup because the sauce also paired well with the mashed potatoes and broccoli. While my experience with the main course was spot on, there was a tweak with my girlfriend's son. He ordered truffle fries as part of his side dish, but it arrived several minutes after everything had already been served. He barely ate any, but he requested a doggy bag. Overall, the experience started off on a negative note with a few bumps along the way, but I was highly pleased with the meal and appetizer itself. If I ever visit this particular establishment again, I most likely will order my meal for takeout. #yardhouse #yardhouseatlanta #20ounceribeye

Indian style tacos, Korean style tacos and Baja style. While these experiments are hardly new to Atlanta and America as a whole, they rarely succeed, falling into the void of establishments that made an effort, but could not get a sufficient demographic ready for such experiments. And here came Velvet Taco by Dallas restareneurs Jack Gibbons and Randy DeWitt, showing that this risky concept can actually work. Over the past decade and a half, Velvet Taco expanded to dozens of successful locations and underwent major expansion. The Buckhead location debuted in 2019, hardly a great year to open a restaurant with an incoming pandemic. But, unlike the mom and pop shops that often went out of business, the private equity funds of this micro chain allowed the location to survive. Enough history and let's look at the tacos themselves. The top seller is the chicken tikka taco, the Indian fusion into a taco shell, with deep fried masala chicken, cilantro, basmati rice, raita and Thai basil. The combination seems ridiculous in a taco, but actually works really well. The element of rice, in my opinion, seems unnecessary give the tortilla is already there, but the rest is excellent. Then, there is the Birria taco, made with gruere cheese, pickled red onion and griddled corn tortillas. This one, despite throwing a Swiss cheese into the mix, is a true winner. Perfect shell, delicate pork and a side of consome make it such a winning package. The idea of serving the consome on the side is brilliant, as it allows targeted dipping or pouring, instead of having a taco that does not old up and gets saggy. The folks working the Buckhead location are polite and things are kept clean. All around, it's a very enjoyable spot and likely to stay here for years to come.
