Kicked off celebrating my partner's birthday here since lobster rolls was something they were dying to try. We were welcomed with big smiles and friendly words by the manager and the cook. This place is gorgeous, clean, and the music selection really fit the vibe. I was unsure of what to get, and the manager suggested getting the dinner plate with the chowder. She was VERY confident that you could do no wrong with anything on the menu, and I believed her. She was not wrong. My partner got the lobster roll with truffle parm tots. I got the dinner plate with salmon, the veggie blend, and the infamous chowder! We got garlic shrimp and hush puppies on the side as well. Our food came out 10 minutes after ordering and my god was it delicious! - I am not a big fan of salmon as most people tend to overcook it, but this salmon was juicy and flaky. Not heavily seasoned, but the side of lemon was perfect to balance out the taste. - The bread? THE BREAD! I would drive here for the garlic bread alone, oh my goodness. - The veggie blend wasn't nothing to rave about, but it was cooked perfectly and went well with the salmon. - The hush puppies had the perfect crispy exterior and fluffy and well seasoned interior. - The garlic shrimp was delicious, but the sauce that was paired with made it to die for! - My partner liked, but didn't love the lobster rolls. The hostess was gracious in explaining the menu and ordering procedures. upon entering the smell was divine, and he had very high expectations. however, after a very long, wait, we feel that the meal did not at all meet our expectations. The quinoa and rice clump together and was similar to a product we purchased from the supermarket out of a pack. Although we ordered tempura cod, it was very very overcooked, and it did not seem fresh, but as if it was a frozen product that was deep-fried . I am very confused by the vegetable as the vegetables that they are blending don't seem to blend well together and left me chewing under cooked vegetables for a long time . Came in after leaving an event super hungry and Brown Bag Seafood was the only place open close by that wasn't greasy fast food. I ordered the fish and chips. Really tasty and crisp to perfection. What a delicious experience after a busy day. I've been aware of Brown Bag Seafood and read so many great reviews, but can't believe it took me so long to actually make a visit in. After a great event across the sidewalk at Indiehouse Fragrance in WSP, my intern/friend and I decided to grab dinner at Brown Bag to end the evening. From the exterior (and across the street), they almost looked close but after checking their hours and seeing a few folks leaving with their bags of food, we were breaking our necks to look at the menu. Brown Bag offers a variety of seafood options in a number of ways like chowder, fish & chips, tacos, grilled choices, lobster rolls and so much more. As a lover of seafood myself, this was an easy sell to me. Their menu was super clear and allowed us to DIY our meals or choose from a few prefixe items. Jamesa decided on their dinner plate that included two sides (parmesan tots and elote) and I opted for their grilled catch in taco form with their seasonal elote (really, esquites) and buffalo tots, paired with an ginger Arnold Palmer. We ordered it in advance, fearful that by the time our event ended, they would be closing down. The event ended early so we headed over to Brown Bag with 2 of our fellow Elites to grab our food. Upon arrival, there were 2 employees out front (AB + and Lowla, I believe) and wow, what sweethearts! We were in great spirits and bugging them like we were all old friends. As someone who previously worked in restaurants, I know how much of a bummer it can be to see folks come in with less than 30 minutes before closing, lol. But these employees were SO kind and accommodating. Not only to us, but to the other customers that came in behind us to place last minute orders or pick up their scheduled orders. Although we were early for our scheduled pickup time, AB quickly started on our order. While we waited and talked, we tried some sauces from their sauce bar and let me tell you, their hot sauce and boss sauce are IT!! The hot sauce had the perfect amount of vinegar and the boss sauce had such an amazing combination of flavors included, such a hit. Once I got home to finally take a load off, I dug into my meal. They came with a small cup of salsa and chips, but I was more focused on my entree and sides. Sadly, the seasonal elote didn't do it for me. It had a bit too much mayo, was too watery and the flavors just didn't mesh well in my opinion. It happens! I love esquites so maybe I was expecting something different. The tots though? WOW. I mean, tater tots are a national treasure no matter what. But adding that amazing buffalo sauce and a bit of blue cheese? Life-changing. I wish I had gotten double buffalo tots. The tacos were LOADED with flaky grilled fish, cabbage, cilantro, red onions and jalapenos. I'll be honest, I generously spread the hot sauce and boss sauce over both of them so I didn't take in the original flavor too much but I have zero regrets. Those tacos were A1! The sauces paired with the freshness of the taco truly took it to another level. I was starving after a fun evening of mingling with my fellow Yelpers and this meal really sealed the deal on a 5-star day. I can't wait to go back and try some more dishes! read more

During that time, we politely signaled the cook passing by but he could not take our order. Meanwhile, the cashier continued laughing, talking, and drinking lemonade with the two patrons for the entire 15 minutes. Visited on a Friday evening - happy hour time. Westside Provisions is very busy on Fridays or anytime actually so snag a parking spot and don't forget to pay. It's ParkMobile via the app or machine. The restaurant has a code to validate parking - I forgot to go back in to update my fee for 4 hours. The restaurant is a casual, order at the counter and take a number for the food to be delivered to your table. There's a small variety of alcoholic drinks, the usual sodas, the house ginger pineapple punch and teas. The menu is simple with easy ingredients for those wanting something healthier. The sauces are on the side and more at their condiments bar. The presentation on the menu photos and once plated is very nice. Portions are on the average side - probably 1.5 cups of veggies and 1/2 cup protein. The flavors were on the under seasoned side to me. Not bland but definitely didn't have much flavor. I guess that's what the sauces were for. Overall, I felt like I had a healthy meal on a Friday night with my friends. ordered from here on a delivery app and i've been craving it again ever since. they had a BOGO at the time and we love that. i was able to use my leftovers for a healthy meal prep. the veggies were a bit on the oily side but they were still soo good, and hopefully they use a healthy oil. i opted out of the grains but maybe that would soak up some of the oil/grease. i ordered the salmon veggie box, i did pay extra to try their sauces but i didn't end up eating the sauces because the food was already flavorful enough and the sauces just seemed fatty & oily for no reason (we're on a diet here!) looking forward to trying the grilled catch next time i see they have BOGO going on! read more

When Brown Bag Seafood Co. opened their first location in Atlanta at Colony Square in Midtown last fall (October 2020), I immediately became a fan. Brown Bag's food is healthy, delicious, served up quick, and it's relatively affordable. If you're having trouble deciding what to grab for lunch or dinner, Brown Bag is an easy, practical, and guilt-free option. Locally, Brown Bag is comparable to Upbeet and gusto! -- fast-casual, healthy eats. This location on Howell Mill Rd at Westside Provisions District opened sometime around late February/early March 2021. It's in the space formerly occupied by Star Provisions, next to Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams. One big advantage to this location over the Colony Square location is free parking. Note: If you're just picking up at the Colony Square location, you can park in the valet lane for free to pick up your order. At the time of writing this review, these are the only two locations of Brown Bag Seafood Co. outside of Chicago (eight locations in Chi-Town). On my first visit to this location, I ordered and paid using my phone. Browsing the menu, choosing the items I wanted, and selecting my payment info was straightforward and convenient. My order was ready in about 10 minutes. Fast. And this was at a peak time, 6:30pm on a weeknight. Here's what I got: * Family Bundle for 2 ($25.00) - includes two boxes and two sides - Box 1: Daily Catch - Mahi-Mahi, grilled, lightly seasoned in a Greens & Grains box (ancient grain blend of brown rice, quinoa, and wheatberry with blend of sauteed Brussels sprouts, broccoli, green beans, kale, fresh spinach, and herbs) - Box 2: Seared Tuna (+$2.00) - yellowfin tuna, seared rare in a Greens & Grains box (same as above) - Sides: Truffle-Parm Tots, Louisiana Tang Slaw * Fish & Chips ($14.00) - battered fish, French fries, Classic Slaw, and tartar sauce * Extra side: Lime-Cilantro Slaw ($2.50) My first impression of the food was it did not taste as good nor was it presented as nicely (I'm being nitpicky here) as the food I got from the Colony Square location. I think that was for a couple reasons: (1) I ordered different things. At the Colony Square location, I got the Salmon Greens & Grains box ($11.25), the Crispy Cod Tacos ($10.85), and the Chowdah (regular size, $6.00). (2) The manager lady at the Colony Square location knew what she was doing. The staff at this location seemed new and I got the feeling they were still working the kinks out. That said, don't let this deter you. I was still very happy with my first takeout experience here. I plan on coming back and recommending this place to my friends. My Mahi-Mahi was OK. It was disappointingly overcooked. It was a little too dry and chewy. Luckily, the staff included two cups of "Boss Sauce" (mix of hot sauce, ketchup, mayo, and other ingredients) which helped. Normally, I'd order Salmon (and that is what I recommend instead of the Mahi-Mahi), but I wanted to try something different this time. The Seared Tuna fared better. The slices were tender and delicate. They tasted delicious with the umami-rich sesame soy sauce (I used it as a dipping sauce). One of the big reasons I became a fan of Brown Bag is for their Greens & Grains mix. These were on par with the Colony Square location. Fresh, yummy, filling, and good for you. Obviously, the Fish & Chips weren't as healthy as the Greens & Grains boxes. There were two pieces of fish and they were thick, crispy, and tasty. Along with tartar sauce, the Fish & Chips came with malt vinegar (this wasn't listed on the menus). The fries were thick, crispy, and tasty as well. If you like fish & chips, I don't think you can go wrong with Brown Bag's version. It's good. As for the sides, the Truffle-Parm Tots were outstanding. Definitely get some. They were rich and full of flavor. I enjoyed all three slaws - Louisiana Tang, Classic, and Lime-Cilantro - equally. It's really up to your personal taste preferences. All three slaws were cool, fresh, and crunchy. I noticed some non-typical slaw ingredients in Brown Bag's versions like celery and cucumber. The Colony Square location is small. This location at Westside Provisions District is tiny. They do have a dining room, but space is limited. During my visit for this review, the restaurant was following social distancing guidelines. Seating was limited to the perimeter of the interior space only and dine-in capacity was limited to only about 10 customers. There was additional seating outside on the covered patio (another advantage of this location over the Colony Square location is covered outdoor seating). The space itself looks great. Very clean, polished, and new. Bright, light, white colors. The same halyard ropes, dock lighting, and wood paneling like the Colony Square location. Brown Bag's branding and design fit in naturally with the aesthetic of Westside Provisions District, so no surprise they opened here. Service was excellent. Lola and AB are always consistently providing great service which I find is becoming more rare in Atlanta. They've taken the time to get to know me and always suggest items on the menu they think I'd like based on my previous purchases. Who does that? The shrimp and cod were cool, but definitely lacked seasoning. The tartar sauce and house made aioli made it a little better. The truffle tots were good and you can definitely taste the truffle. The meal was a bit over priced at $16. I'm not saying I won't return, but I'll definitely pack some hot sauce and seasoning in my bag when and if I do. The bread and fries were nice, but the fish itself was underwhelming. However, the guy did recommend the tacos and I should have listened. $17 for a bad sandwich definitely ruined my day. I won't be back or brining my foodie friends here either. I wish I would have checked out the reviews ahead of time.
