Farmer's Basket

Farmer's Basket at Lenox Square in Atlanta is a great place to go for delicious and flavorful food that is ready when you are. Everything here is well prepared and it is hard to narrow down what to get each time. Excellent overall experience every time I have been here.

Spicy chicken, collards, rice

For a food court eatery, this is one of the better that I've tried. Large selection - maybe too large when it comes to sides - and good prices. Tasty? Well, as I said, it is a food court. The 'spicy' chicken was way too sweet; the collards were actually not salty enough (yeah, I know, I can fix that) and the rice was just ok. On the good side, the chicken was tender, somewhat well seasoned and relatively free from icky bits; the collards weren't too salty; and the rice was ok. If I find myself hungry at Lenox again, I will probably head this way. Unless I have a hankering to Run for the Border.

The chicken was amazing! The rice was okay! If the rice was better I would definitely put it over Panda Express. Panda is my favorite. However, Farmers Basket is right up there with it!

Based on the reviews, i'm wondering if I got the wrong stuff! I was looking for dinner when I found myself in the Lenox mall food court, a place I hadn't been in a while, so I figured i'd give mall food a chance to not be....well....mall food. I just happened to be in front of Farmer's Basket, which were handing out free samples. The samples were so good that I ordered a combo of 1 meat and two sides ($6.59) of the following: Sauteed Citrus Chicken (entree) Veggies Noodles (side) Fresh Veggies medley (side) First off, i'll say for the price, you get a solid amount of food. They packed in the fried sweet chicken pieces, gave me a nice serving of the noodles as well as the steamed veggies. The Citrus chicken, it turns out, was great one piece at a time, which is why I loved the sample, but as an entire serving, the grease caught up with me and I started to not enjoy it. They were crunchy, slightly sweet, but not a lot of citrus flavor. The steamed veggies were nice, crunchy and seasoned well and I enjoyed them. The noodles suffered the same fate as the chicken, because they were also very greasy. So greasy in fact they make the panda express noodles seem not greasy at all. I did not finish these. I did see an interesting variety of asian type selections (i.e. panda express clone) right next to southern comfort food, which included roasted potatoes, corn, mac and cheese and dinner rolls. Maybe the asian selection I picked were just greasy in general, and maybe the southern sides are more appealing/less greasy, but for now I have definitely had better and don't know that I'll be back for more...not anytime soon anyway

charbroiled chicken, corn, yams .. under $6.00!

I wish I had discovered this place earlier. I've spent a lot of time in Atlanta for work, and I had one of the best meals here. HERE! AT A MALL FOOD COURT! I was avoiding the heat and humidity by ducking into the Lenox Square Mall. Unfortunately, it was right around lunch time, so the mall was crowded and I was hungry as heck. I wandered around looking for a place that didn't have a long line, but everything was packed. I was about to give up when I spotted Farmer's Basket. At first glance, I thought it was another generic Chinese food place. It wasn't until I got up to the counter that I saw what the food items were. (chicken fingers, charbroiled chicken, meat loaf, green beans, corn, yams, collard greens, etc., etc.) Still, I was on the fence. Then a cheerful woman behind the counter held up a piece of chicken on a toothpick and encouraged me to try it. "Charbroiled chicken", she said. I took the toothpick, popped the chicken in my mouth, and OOOooohhhh! Tender and juicy .. it was DELICIOUS! She then offered me a piece of a different kind of chicken - size of a nugget, golden, crispy, fried, honey-sweet goodness. It was a tough choice, but I went with the charbroiled chicken and two sides (corn and yams). Price? Under $6.00. I added on a piece of corn bread and a medium drink which brought my total to just shy of $9.00. The corn was corn. Perfectly fine. The yams? Awesome. Caramelized goodness. Chicken? Each piece as tender and delicious as the sample I was given. I felt bad for not being able to finish it all, it was so good. I will definitely go back again before I leave Atlanta. I wish there was a Farmer's Basket in my hotel. I would be a happy camper.

They serve outstanding soulfood at very reasonable prices. They are located on the 1st floor in the foodcourt in Lenox Mall. This is my first time eating at this location because I normally eat at the Peachtree Center location. The food is always hot, fresh and extremely tasty ( good ). I love how they let you taste the various kinds of chicken prior to purchasing...I highly recommend you try this establishment out if you are tired of fast-food...

Spicy chicken with two sides

Farmer's Basket is a Lenox Square food court establishment which combines your typical Asian food court stall with Southern staples. It has both the Asian and American dishes from your typical Asian buffet, but served in a food court setting. Like in other Asian food court restaurants, you can pick a meat and a side, a meat and two sides, or two meats and two sides. Meat selections include charbroiled chicken, a spicier version of charbroiled chicken, and jalapeno meatballs. Sides include green beans, collard greens, yams, and broccoli. Highlights: The staff let me sample quite a few of the items before I placed an order. The charbroiled chicken is reasonably tasty. I ended up picking the spicier version of the charbroiled chicken because it had more flavor overall. My sides were the noodles and the string beans. I was happy that the food was not drenched in oil - a nice refresher from the usual Asian food court restaurants I go to. The vegetables looked and tasted good as well. Critiques: I tried a jalapeno meatball and thought it was bland. One meat and two sides didn't make me full. If you're hungry, I'd suggest doubling up on the meats or maybe buying two orders. While I was impressed with how the dishes were not too greasy, I thought the charbroiled chicken was a little too sweet. Overall: I think that Farmer's Basket is an upgrade over your typical Asian food court restaurant. The food quality is a little better and there are more dishes to choose from. Go try a few samples from them and judge for yourself.

The vibe is cozy but still upscale -- like a mountain lodge right in the middle of the city. Perfect if you're coming from shopping around Perimeter or just want a laid-back spot with really good food. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful, but what really stood out was how welcoming the atmosphere is. It's one of those rare places where you can bring friends, kids, or even go for a casual date and it still feels like a great experience. Service was friendly, attentive, and made the whole meal even better. You can tell the staff actually cares about making sure guests enjoy themselves because I have two 1yr olds with me and still got to enjoy adult life. They really accommodated us by putting two tables together in a different area of the restaurant and not as close to the front door because it was freezing outside. We really enjoyed our time there. The house bread was a hit! There was only one hiccup, though my food never came out, which I had ordered the Mediterranean chicken bowl and then when it came out, it really wasn't nothing there. I asked for my tomato cucumber salad to be on the side. It never showed up the chicken on there is maybe about four pieces very small nothing to really work with so I just enjoyed some dessert and called it a night. I'm glad that the manager did not charge me for the bowl because it really was not worth it. I'll give them another try but I really had high hopes. I'm glad the guests with me enjoyed their meal and of course brussels sprouts is always a plus thanks lazy dog. See you again Lazy Dog!

The establishment was clean and they had a nice variety of food to choose from. The staff wasn't...unfriendly...I'll say they were focused. This day my mom ordered smothered turkey wings with rice and gravy and about 4 or 5 sides . I ordered the fried chicken with black eyed peas, green beans, and yams. The food was DELICIOUS!! The reason if ace them three stars was because I went back the next day to grab a few plates for me and my family that I was going to bring back home from Atlanta. Before I left my mom's house unused Uber Eats to place my order and I would pick it up and then hit the highway home. I ordered my food around 1:35pm and got the notification it would be ready by 1:53. Cool! I'd have time to get there without rushing as the ride would take about 25 minutes. Well I get there around 2:05 and had to wait a few minutes before I was served as there were people in line before me. Well long story short...I didn't leave the restaurant until around 2:45 as they hadn't even started on my order when I arrived! Ten people came in after me and left before I did...!! Which of course put me way behind schedule on getting back home. And on top of all that...three things were replaces on my order...I was sitting there the WHOLE time!! They could have asked me about replacements. And I say that because I have a gluten allergy and they gave me macaroni & cheese!! No cornbread that should have been free. I thought they would have at least offered me a dessert for making me wait so long but...they didn't. So even though our food was delicious...the service I received on day two definitely needed some work!!!! The food is definitely down home southern comfort food and the menu has a variety of options. I will be back but I sincerely hope that I receive better service next time.

No picture sorry…read more I'll get to the point. Not from GA, but while here decided tk try what was local. PROS - food well seasoned. I ordered Black Eyed Peas, baked chicken, yams, and peach cobbler. 3 stars - Weird vibe, I get the seating outside but no restroom available for customers - had to eat this food in the rental car. Then go to local Publix to wash my hands from the food. Not pleased. CONS - peach cobbler albeit good the portion size for 8.00 was a tall ask. I get the profit margin here however I think if you want returned customers I think allowing paying customers to use the restroom would be ideal. Noon time I'd think the service bar area the take rations from should always be cleaned and presentable for selection. It wasn't. Almost left but had a drive ahead of me so this was about taste vs demand.

I noticed they had a lot of regulars there just based on conversations had surrounding us, which is a good sign to me. They have the "Wata" brand water that I honestly thought you could only get in Jamaica so it was cool to see something like that here. They have a full bar and of course the standard Jamaican alcoholic bevvies if that suits your fancy. I ordered the Couple up combo because i just had to have cabbage, rice and peas and plantain. Everything was very good. I had enough food to last me a few days off of that plate. The cornbread they give you as a starter was very good as well. I will return!

This was a DoorDash order, but based on the food itself I probably wouldn't order again. I ordered the Escovitch snapper with rice and broccoli, and it was a big disappointment. The fish was fried, but it didn't come with any of the escovitch peppers, onions, or sauce that normally make the dish what it is. It was extremely dry and bland. I ended up having to douse it with hot sauce from my pantry just to get through it. The patties were okay, nothing special but edible. I also had what I believe was the spinach patty, although it honestly looked more like curry chicken filling, so I'm not completely sure. I ordered the Likkle Ochie for my wife and she didn't really care for it either, though she did enjoy the fried okra, which was probably the best thing we had. Finally, I ordered oxtails for my sister-in-law. She said they weren't bad, but she's pregnant and probably just hungry. The portions also looked pretty small. Overall, the food just didn't live up to expectations. I'm hoping it was just an off night, but it wasn't a great first impression.
