I finally made my way here for the first time after hearing about this place for quite a while. When I walked in, it was quiet and it didn't take long for the young woman prepping behind the counter to meet me at the front. I went on a Friday after the lunch hour, and there were only two other people there. So, it was quiet and service was quick. You can choose one of the recommended bowl options or build your own. I chose the BYO option with sweet potato as my base, seasonal fall kale salad and green beans w/ onion as my two sides, spicy chicken as my protein, and a drizzle of buttermilk ranch as well as spicy avocado sauce. Overall, I enjoyed my meal. I appreciated that the sweet potatoes didn't have any added sweetener. I think I expected a bit more food, but the portion was decent for the price. All the tables and open portion of the kitchen were clean. Only minor things I noticed were that I wanted ice water but there was no ice in the drink machine, and there were no utensils in the utensil area. Obviously, I was easily able to ask for utensils. Neither of those things was a big deal. Overall, I'd say Maepole is worth a try in the build-your-own bowl style restaurant category. read more

I checked out Maepole for lunch the other day. It was a beautiful day out, and I wanted to sit out on the patio. But that was such a bad idea cause they were flies everywhere. But I decided to go inside and enjoy my meal. The best way for me to describe this place is like a very healthy Chipotle. On my visit I tried out a plate as well as the Mac snack and got the pineapple ginger lemonade for my drink. So for my max snack, I decided to get the spicy chicken as my protein and it came with a Sriracha sauce. And for my plate, I got brown rice with green beans, roasted potatoes with my protein being pork. It was also served with sauces and I decided to try the avocado sauce and the honey Sriracha on this as well. By itself, needed a little seasoning. Adding the sauces onto both items made it a little better. It's a good amount of food that you get with, me having enough to take home to eat for another day. The service was good. Nothing outstanding. The guy that did my food was just very laid-back. Didn't have a care in the world. I did ask him his opinion on a food choice. He gave me his opinion. I would go back and try out other items. I just know to have a sauce and some salt and pepper on hand. read more

I had high expectations for this spot since it had been on my list for a while. The location is great, the staff were friendly, and the restaurant itself was clean and pretty quiet when I visited. I usually go for a build-your-own bowl, and since I was feeling a bit indecisive, the employee was helpful in guiding me through the options. I ended up getting the pulled pork with sweet potatoes, lettuce, veggies, and bean salad. I also tried the sriracha honey and avocado dressings on the side--the sriracha honey was definitely my favorite. That said, the food overall was pretty bland. Even with the sauces, it didn't elevate the bowl as much as I'd hoped. I'm guessing it's on the healthier side with less sodium than what I'm used to, so I can appreciate that to some extent. Since I first reviewed Maepole about 5 years ago, not much has changed. Maybe with the entry of nearby Cava in the market and prices generally going up, I was surprised to read what I wrote about that because I felt like the prices were pretty fair. I also had the same southern pork dish although my veggie changed this time to green beans instead of the kale. I was surprised by the consistency at which they operate. The food was again pretty good and I liked the special sauces and drinks. Honey siracha was just the right amount spicy for me. I got a ginger lemonade and the hibiscus drink which come as large drinks. Service was fast and overall similar experience as before. read more

The food, ambience and staff are all 5 stars 5 star food: Game Plan bowl is a pre-selected quinoa bowl with acorn squash chunks, green beans and a siracha sauce. It was amazingly good, and I confess I'm gonna try to steal the recipe and make this at home. LOL 5 star service: the open kitchen has a bunch of very friendly folks. My Apple Pay was acting up on checkout and they were sweet and helpful 5 star ambience: outside it's a very cool strip of Georgia Avenue in the Summerhill section. They have outdoor seating at picnic tables to take in the neighborhood vibe, but it was a little cold out so sat inside. Inside there's a sleek warehouse-y vibe. read more

I love Maepole. I've been to both their locations in Athens and always eat it up (both metaphorically and literally) so I was super excited to try this location in Summerhill with my brother. That is, until I met the man behind the counter. I'm not sure if I upset him in any way or something, but this guy seemed to HATE us. Immediately seemed confrontational and kind of weirded out by the presence of my brother and I, and acted like every request we made was the peak of abnormal. My brother was indecisive with what base he wanted to get (as he's prone to do), which somehow gave affirmation to this gentleman that we were, indeed, the worst. Every request we made afterwards he would repeat back to us our order in the slowest and most condescending manner possible. We tried valiently to redeem whatever we had done to prompt this behavior, but instead he grew progressively more irriated and condescending with each side and sauce he slapped on. By the time we concluded the transaction and he was asking if we wanted water cups you would think we were full on mentally challenged. We shuffled out the restaurant ashamed and rather taken aback. Our crime was an order of half-quinoa half-brown rice, and our sentence was being made to feel utterly ridiculous for the whole order process. read more

Unfortunately I have to be honest here: this one of most dull meals I've had all 2025. As someone who is constantly on the move, I appreciate the grab-and-go style of eateries, or as the kids say " corporate slop bowls". I was in the area when I realized I had this place on my list of restaurants to try. I ordered a bowl with the sweet potato which I think was the "base", braised beef, mac and cheese, and roasted potatoes. Immediately noticed how my order was unappealing to look at. The orange and brown-ness of it all was the only cohesion the dish had. These flavors did not meld well like a Chipotle or Cava bowl would. In fact, this entire meal lacked flavor entirely. I was pretty surprised that an eatery in the south could serve food that lacked any punch. The braised beef lacked any personality (and salt) which was the main protein. I think the mac and cheese might be the real offender here. It must be a vegan rendition or perhaps it's made with wheat pasta and some sort of alternative cheese, but it's nothing like I've had before, ever. I did enjoy the drink, I believe it was something with ginger, but sadly it wasn't sealed tightly and half spilled into the bag. read more

This is one of those places where you get a bowl of food as you go down a line of serving trays. You can start with brown rice, salad, or quinoa, then you can add three veggies or various types of protein and you choose two different sauces from their assortment. The young people working the serving line were very helpful. The restrooms were spotless. If I were the owner, I'd up an awning out front as well as a trash can. Historical detour: Summerhill is the neighborhood just west of Grant Park. GSU's CenterParc Stadium -- the old Atlanta Braves Stadium -- may technically lie within Summerhill. Google told us that Summerhill was one of the first neighborhoods outside of downtown Atlanta, founded in 1865. Its first inhabitants were former enslaved people and Eastern European Jews. Leo Frank and his wife lived in a house on Georgia Avenue. Evander Holyfield grew up in Summerhill. read more

This was my third visit to Maepole in Summerhill, and overall, it's been a great spot for healthy food at reasonable prices. Every experience has been good--until this last visit. While I was placing my order, I asked a question about pricing to a woman who said she was the front-end manager. Shockingly, she started touching her teeth with her hands while standing behind the counter, which is definitely not sanitary around food. I also noticed her handling desserts and placing them into the packaging afterward. Aside from this incident, my visits have always been positive. However, I've never seen this employee before, and I'm now unsure if I'll return to this location. read more

Yum!! I was looking for a gluten-free restaurant to meet a friend in Summerhill and decided to check out Maepole. There's parking in Summerhill either on the street or in various free lots, just may have a circle a little. Inside, Maepole is super cute and clean and the boards walk you through how to order, kind of a like a Chipotle- or bowl-style restuarant. I decided to get the super greens and the herbed quinoa as my base, a seasonal kale/sweet potato mix and mac n cheese as my sides, and then chicken for my protein. I topped it off with the lemon herb vinaigrette dressing. The staff was helpful and we appreciated the staff member who filled us up on sauce!! We dined in at one of the tables and this was so delicious!! I loved the tangy freshness of the vinagrette. What a great addition to the Summerhill neighborhood. I've been wanting to try Maepole for the longest time since I frequent Summerhill for the other food options there. Decided to give Maepole a shot and ordered for take out. The online ordering was easy breezy. I opted for the build your own bowl with half brown rice and half greens, carrot salad and broccoli as my sides with shredded pork and topped with ranch. Within 10 minutes of ordering, it was ready for pick up. Even pick up was easy breezy! It was a good-sized portion and reasonable for the price in my opinion. The brown rice was slightly undercooked, but that was fine. It had a healthy serving of pork and sides. It was very tasty and would be frequenting this place now that I've tried it. I was very pleasantly surprised by this place. With the abundance of healthy-coded fast-casual "bowleries" that have sprung up in the last few years, some are great and some are deeply meh. Maepole seems to be going for the "southern food but healthy" sector of the market, and while it sounds a bit weird, it actually works. They have enough options to please everyone, but not so many options that you get paralyzed with indecision. My lunch buddy got one of the seasonal pre-built options called the Low Country, which has brown rice, braised greens, bean salad, tofu, and turmeric sauce. I put together my own thing and swapped out the bean salad for mac n cheese; and swapped the tofu for chicken. I also added on some avocado and got the lemon herb vinaigrette. Both of us were really pleased with our choices AND totally sated at the end, yet the meal didn't feel too heavy. The greens were good--obviously they don't have the smoky ham hock flavor to them because these ones are vegetarian, but they're still really solid. Everything was well seasoned. The tofu was a big hit. It's also a really good value for the quantity of food you get--it doesn't look like much in the bowl but I was full. The food price and portions are pretty good compared to their fast casual counterparts. My favorite thing is the ease, app and the healthy options that can still be tasty and filling. Okay so I really don't know what it is about this place that makes it so good. The ingredients are so simple. But y'all the boxcar (sub chicken, get half quinoa half sweet potatoes) is DIVINE! And I don't know why. When I'm trying to be semi healthy I go here and then walk to little tart after which is right down the street to grab some coffee. It's usually pretty empty in Maepole every time I've been so there's never a line which is good for wait times. Service is chipotle-style so you ask for what you want as you move down the line. We came here after visiting the zoo as it is just right down the street. The food is already made and they scoop it for you to make your plate. Their motto is healthy comfort food and that is what you get. It is also a great place for vegans and vegetarians, even though they do have meat options as well. There were so many good options, we had a hard time making a decision. I got half quinoa and half rice as my base. I then got bean salad and carrot salad as my side. for my protein (or you can choose a third side), I had the chicken. For my sauce, I got the spicy avocado. The carrot salad was so unique and I loved it since I like carrots. The chicken was also really good, well seasoned, especially for the fact that it is pre-made and just sitting there. We ate there at one of their many tables, and were at a high top. There is a decent amount of space inside and they have parking in the back. The parking was full though, but we found a street spot easily. The staff was friendly as well. read more

I like the idea of Maepole in my neighborhood. It's a "fast casual" joint like Chipotle or Cava but it has a prepared in a home kitchen kind of vibe that makes it seem more comforting. The bowls offer a combination of hot and cold food, which has confused me in the past, but I'm coming around. I will also note that I've always thought their options kind of bland, and I realized last time I ate there that I think the recipes use very little salt, if any at all. I'm sure this makes their food healthier than sodium rich chains bursting with "flavor" though. I love savory food so I could use a little more seasoning, but every now and then Maepole hits the spot if I want a home cooked vibe without actually cooking myself. read more

We live in Buckhead so we order through Door Dash about twice a week. It's hands down our favorite delivery in all of Atlanta. It's the only place I truly believe is clean eating, but with a southern spin. All the ingredients are top notch and I have never been disappointed. Love the food here, I recommend the macaroni and cheese, always, it's really yummy. For a small food break stop, Maepole wasn't so bad! I think the chicken was a bit too dry, but with the vinaigrette sauce it helped and was really good. They didn't have the tomato salad, so I got a bean salad which was good but I think I would be ok not trying it. The Mac and cheese was my favorite side, very very delicious. Not oily at all and very savory, it should be it's own base! Overall, I think for the price the quantity you get is well worth but I wouldn't say that for the quality. Things I like: I enjoyed the food I got from Maepole when I visited. I got a bowl with Brown Rice and Super Greens. I did all veggies and got the Broccoli Salad, Shaved Brussel Sprouts, and the Marinated Mushrooms. For sauces, I got both the Spicy Avocado and the Sriracha- Honey. The food all tasted fresh and I enjoyed the bowl. I also really liked that there is a lot of seating options and many outdoor patio tables to choose from. I came here about 30 mins before closing and the young ladies were patient and attentive. I ordered the boxcar and substituted the pork out for chicken. The food was decent, seeing that it was 30mins before closing and I took the food to go I wasn't upset with the quality of the food once I got home. I will say the Boxcar is what I would call gentrified soul food lol. A healthier and fresher option that what you might get at a traditional soul food spot. The sweet potatoes (couldn't call em yams lol) seem to be the natural sweetness of the sweet potato. The mac and cheese had an interesting texture, not bad at all, but not black folk mac n cheese lol. They also offer a variety of other foods, quinoa, salad, tofu, etc. it's a great option if you want something satisfying that won't leave you feeling stuffed or heavy afterwards. The food and the set up were the southern equivalent to places like Lemonade in LA and Dig Inn in NYC. It felt clean and contemporary. Very causal and affordable. Definitely a great place for families with children (there is a kids menu). Or a healthy option for lunch, dinner or after a game. Stopped in on a Sunday & I'm glad we did. Food was bomb! Other than the fact that it was bomb it's healthy too. Everyone working offered a friendly smile. The person who took our order allowed us samples & you could tell really cares about the quality & flavors of the food. Oh & their mac n cheese...omgoodness it was so good. I didn't know what to expect because every mac n cheese is not the same. But get it as one of your 2 sides. Choosing your items is like Chipotle in that you get to pick the bottom layer (rice, quinoa, etc.) protein, 2 sides & sauce. You can even get in a nice walk because of the great location. This place is so good! It's a fast casual restaurant that serves more hearty and healthy meals. Maepole has kinda embraced the bowl trend--base, veggies, protein, and sauce. However, they've got some unexpected and unique options, which makes them unique! The restaurant is located in the Summerhill area. There's street parking and some other spaces, I believe. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. I've been here a couple of times now, and the Boxcar is definitely my favorite. It consists of shredded pork, macaroni and cheese, green beans, mashed sweet potatoes (with coconut oil!) and a sriracha honey sauce. Delicious. Other times, I make my own bowl.
