Out of towner, so take my review as is. Seating in a Thursday at 5:45 was no effort. I made a reservation for 5 which was not needed. The staff are awesome. Service was excellent but the place stayed about 50% full the time we were there. I like the ambiance. It's open, modern, seats can be a bit tight. I opened for a happy hour bourbon based drink which was a tall, iced and light on the bourbon (4/5). I then ordered the bourbon salmon on rice for the main course. It was decent (4/5). The dish was swimming in a sweet teriyaki. It seems kinda strange to scoop up rice and salmon, then drain out extra sauce. Dinner mates had the burger and I was a bit envious. They seemed to really like it. Would I return? Well... they are lots of places to try in Atlanta, but I'll keep it in my list of possibilities.

Yakitori - tofu, sweet potato, mushroom, chicken

I had been hearing about this place for so long and was so excited to try it. The ambiance inside is very cute - honestly would be a great date spot as it's not too loud and the tables are spread nicely. The food itself was superb. We started with yakitori skewers - I'm vegetarian so I had the sweet potato, tofu, and mushroom. Oh my god the mushroom ones are something I dream about! So delicious. I absolutely loved the other two as well, but the mushroom was really the standout here (which is saying a lot coming from me because I rarely prefer mushrooms). For my main I had the coconut lime tofu. This was tasty and well made. I do wish this tofu had a little more marinade/seasoning to it as it was just a fried tofu atop the curry, but the tofu was really well made, and the curry itself was flavorful and surprisingly light. I didn't try any cocktails this time, but I'm itching to come back to do so! Love this spot and would absolutely recommend :)

Amazing. Had our first dining experience on a Sunday Brunch and it was fantastic. There were seven of us in our party and it was a hit with all. Most ordered something different. We had the Avocado Toast and the Hong Kong Fried Chicken and Waffle. A couple of our friends hand the Bao Benedict. The Bubble Waffle was a first for us. It was beautiful and the best waffle we ever tasted. The fried chicken was very good also (wish it didn't have a garlic taste). Although we would get it again. The Avocado Toast was the best looking dish on the table. The grilled toast was topped with smashed avocados and then topped with radishes and an everything bagel seasoning. Tasty. The Bao Benedict looked amazing. And got great compliments. Service was outstanding. Prices were reasonable. Whiskey Bird took our reservation for eleven...thank goodness. Highly recommend and will definitely return

Came here for happy hour with coworkers and I thoroughly enjoyed! All prices were reasonable and the drinks were very tasty. All of the food was delicious. Great service and we sat on the outdoor patio in the back. It was perfect on the day we went because the weather was nice.

There happy hour is nice. Everything was super yummy, drinks included. This was a good stop for the happy hour but it wasn't as lively as I've heard it to be. We wanted to stop by to be social but it was a fairly mild crowd. Puppies are allowed on the patio and the staff really make your doggie feel welcomed.

Decided to catch happy hour with friends after work and I'm so glad my friend selected this place! The quality of service was good and the quality of food and drink drinks were even better! This is the perfect spot for anything: a date night, girls night, or happy hour with some friends or coworkers after work. Though it gives more of a mature vibe, I did see families there, and I do believe that there are items on the menu in which kids will also enjoy. The happy hour does end at 6 PM so be sure you catch it before then, honestly the prices are well worth it! I believe they have a great selection of good quality food and drinks on the menu. I would even go back to this place outside of happy hour because I definitely want to try more items on the menu. As far as parking, there is a lot across the street that provides free parking. I was able to park there at ease and it was in such close proximity of the restaurant. Looking forward to going back to this place with more friends!

Cute fusion restaurant (perfect for a chill date night)! We got seated right away on a Friday night and service was extremely quick. The food feels modern and American, while I honestly prefer a more authentic style. We ordered the thai steak and noodle salad and poke bowl. The steak (medium rare) was perfectly cooked, but wish there was more for a perfect steak to noodle salad ratio. Next time, I hope to try the sides

Came here when we stayed downtown for a night. The inside was way more casual than I expected. We kind of came towards the end of the night, but we still had enough time to order from the kitchen. The mixed drinks I had were so so. I wasn't overly impressed with them, but let me tell you how much I loved their yakitori skewers. They were AMAZING AMAZING.! Full of flavor and cooked just right. We tried chicken meatballs, sweet potato, chicken, tofu... They were all good. I wish more places had this type of menu option. They are so healthy, and it's nice to be able to try a bunch of variety without feeling crazy stuffed. Overall, I really like their menu, they have a nice variety with some interesting dishes like Japanese street fries. Tuna goyza tacos, spiced cauliflower, sweet potato burger. I got there tuna Poké bowl, which was decent, but definitely did not match up to the skewers. Service was OK, maybe because we were there towards the end of the night and they are trying to get ready to close up shop. I heard they have a really great branch and I'd love to try it sometime. Again, if you come here, please get the skewers. They reminded me of a place we went to in LA. Really on point. This in itself was enough to bring me back!

The service was great from the time you walked in! Greeted at the door, sat promptly after arriving early, and Wisdom was a great waiter. She offered advice on the menu, made suggestions, and was extremely pleasant. The food was good for brunch as well with the smash burger and BLT. I would say the potatoes with the burger were on the saltier side and a little disappointed they didnt have yellow mustard. Outside of that go check them out and ask for Wisdom!

I first went to this place after hearing about this through my social media. The ambiance inside is very modern and sleek. It was not too crowded and not too loud either. I first came here during happy hour and got to try a selection of different foods. I loved the Asian fusion concept and it was fun to see their spin on foods. I got the queso + wonton chips, peruvian chicken gyoza tacos, crispy rice, a drink (I forgot which one), and the Korean BBQ tofu. It is moderately priced. Service was good and food didn't take too long to come out. I came back recently for a friend's birthday and had such an excellent server! We got the okonomiyaki fries to share and I got the thai steak and noodle salad. We sat outside which was great since one of my friends could bring her dog. They also allowed us to bring a cake. We actually stayed a bit beyond closing hour but they were very gracious and didn't feel like they were trying to kick us out. Overall, would recommend this place to try if visiting Atlanta !

Came here for a birthday brunch and we were impressed! There was parking across the street and it's nestled in an almost small town feel part of Atlanta. I got the Bloody Mary it was perfect and my husband had the bloody Maria which was Jalapeño tequila and he said it was fantastic. Things to order are the burritos- HUGE! The side salad has this amazing vinaigrette to it. Would recommend splitting with someone or taking another half home for a different meal of the day. The tuna toast isn't very brunch style but divine. It has two sauces on top and the look of it is so pretty.

This restaurant is really the best kept secret in Atlanta!…read more My family visited here this week for the first time since around 2014 and, despite our fears that it wouldn't live up to the great experience we had then, they EXCEEDED our expectations. We ordered so much and everything was delicious - nothing below an 8/10 in my opinion. We ordered the seafood spring rolls (8/10), crab benigets (8/10 with a special note of originality), and the shrimp appetizer (10/10). Spring rolls- very crispy and flaky, had the "sea floor" variety of seafood inside, flavorful 3 sauces to go with it Crab beignets- a slightly cheesy and airy beignet with a genius crab dip blend. The whole table was surprised on how good it was. Shrimp appetizer- the best "bang bang" shrimp I've had. Shrimps are very large and has a nice fruit salsa to go with. Everyone at the table loved their entrees but I can only truly speak for the ones I tried. Seafood Curry- I will NEVER eat curry anywhere else! I LOVEEEEE THIS CURRY! All the seafood is so fresh, the curry is so flavorful that I literally slurped the rest off my plate. There was also such a variety of veggies in there that were also very fresh and firm (not soggy). For the price especially, you get sooooo much and with such a thoughtful recipe. According to our waitress, it's the only recipe that hasn't changed since the restaurant opened in 2012! Fried chicken - I didn't try the chicken itself, but I did try the Mac and cheese and greens that came with it. Let me tell you, I am very picky about Mac and cheese and this rivals the best Mac and cheese I've had in Atlanta (toast on Lenox)! The greens were also fantastic and flavorful, but a little on the sweet side if that's what your preference is. For dessert, all 4 of us shared one slice of the suspension cake and couldn't even finish it! It was ginormous (literally the size of your head). I won't even go into details- just order it! The ambiance is so intimate and unique- not feeling like an "uptight" boujie restaurant, but curated and thoughtful. They have very nice seating outdoor that is enclosed as well as a beautiful bar area. Lastly, the service is fantastic. I genuinely can't recall my waitresses name, but they speak so highly of the head chef (Calvin) and most have worked there 8+ years, so it really feels like home. I write this review with hesitance because I want this place to remain a secret, but how could I not brag! Book the reservation!

The restaurant is beautiful, red velvet curtains, baroque flowered wallpaper. The service was excellent. They have a very nice wine, cocktail, and mocktail list. I had the purple rain, light and bubbly. My friend enjoyed her gingery King's Ransom. The menu is Chinese and Asian fusion, and a short list of sushi. Chinese is always meant to be shared. We had the miso truffle salmon and each of the steam buns to start. I thought the salmon was very good, I do not normally like capers, but liked the way they prepared them. The katsu was probably the best of the buns, nicely crispy. The tofu was good a well, with a nice kick, the young one in our group found it too spicy. I would not order the short rib again, it was fine, but I've had much better short rib. We then had the chicken satay, roti canai, and the miso cod. The chicken satay had good flavor, and paired well with the peanut sauce and pickles. I did find it a bit too fatty. The miso cod was perfectly cooked, and the flavor was just right. Note that it is a very small portion. The best dish was the roti, a yellow curry with chicken and veggies with two flaky peice of roti. So good. The star of the meal though was the mango sticky rice, with sorbet and small bits of mochi. This is one of the best versions I've ever had. Do not miss this dessert! The issue I had with our visit is we, a group of three, were seated by the door, which was also near the kitchen door. The seating felt cramped, and every few minutes one of the doors was slamming, which made it a less pleasant experience. There were also several other tables open that we could have been seated at instead.

I know there is parking for the shops and restaurants that were closer but I took the first spot I saw. I did like that the restrooms were gender neutral. I ordered the Shandong braised chicken, a dish presented with its protein resting atop a glossy sauce and a generous scattering... ten or more pieces of accompanying dough. In theory, this bread should serve as both sponge and companion, absorbing the depth of the braise and rounding the dish into comfort. In practice, it was profoundly compromised. The dough was unmistakably moldy, visibly, undeniably so. This alone is alarming in any dining establishment; it signals a breakdown not just in execution, but in fundamental kitchen vigilance. More troubling than the oversight itself was the response. When the issue was brought to the attention of the waiter, the reaction suggested familiarity rather than concern as though such an occurrence fell within the realm of the expected. There was no urgency, no visible embarrassment, no effort to meaningfully rectify the moment. The tone felt faintly dismissive. The effect on the room was immediate: the couple seated ahead of us, having witnessed the exchange, opted against ordering an entrée at all. That, in itself, speaks volumes. There were, however, redeeming elements. The spicy beef was well-prepared, delivering heat with balance rather than bravado. The diced potatoes were excellent, crisp at the edges, tender within, and seasoned with confidence. These dishes hinted at a kitchen capable of competence, even finesse, when fundamentals align. The atmosphere added an unexpected layer. Spa music drifted through the dining room an odd choice for a meal that aims to be bold and hearty, creating a tonal dissonance that never quite resolved. Service hovered in the realm of "acceptable," buoyed largely by polite refrains of "yes sir" and "no ma'am," though these formalities felt more like compensation for a lack of true attentiveness than genuine hospitality. I would not go so far as to discourage anyone from dining here. There is promise, and there are flashes of real quality. But I would offer this advice plainly and without drama: inspect your food carefully. Mold has no place on the plate, and until that reality is treated with the seriousness it demands, the experience remains compromised no matter how good the potatoes may be.

What initially brought me in was Atlanta Burger Week, and I ordered their featured burger to take advantage of the special. While the burger was good, the real star of the meal was the smoked barbecue fried rice with brisket. It was absolutely fantastic. The brisket was incredibly tender and practically melted in your mouth. The fried rice itself was packed with flavor and had such a unique, smoky taste that perfectly complemented the barbecue. It is not often that a side dish completely steals the show, but this one certainly did. The atmosphere was welcoming, the food arrived promptly, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations. It is always exciting to discover a restaurant that delivers something a little different, and Sweet Auburn BBQ does exactly that by blending flavors and cuisines in a way that feels both creative and comforting. I left full, impressed, and honestly a little disappointed in myself for waiting so long to visit. This definitely will not be my last trip, and I already know the smoked barbecue fried rice with brisket will be ordered again.

From the great artwork, the poster walled bathroom (super clean) to the badass bar area. Loved the vibes. Super cool waitress. I'm horrible with names. Short chick, glasses, chill af. Sweet Auburn give her a raise. If you can't identify her, give all the waiters/ress a raise, just to be sure lol. Now the food. Onion rings were on point. Love a great, crispy onion ring that makes me forget I hate onions. Fries with great. Even better with the vinegar BBQ sauce table side. Wife loved the Mac and cheese. Super creamy. For me, there wasn't a meat they served me I didn't enjoy in my mouth. Said what I said. Again, don't sleep on the vinegar BBQ sauce. Finally the drinks. Only had two, but loved that they had a selection of seltzers for the wifey. That and the bartender crafted an amazing old fashion. Compliments to them. Overall, we will be back for more. Easily a great BBQ joint just off ponce and outside the heavy traffic areas of PCM. Go, now.

Between the décor, the lighting, and the music, the entire space feels intentional and immersive in a way that sets the tone for the whole experience. It is the kind of place that makes you slow down and actually enjoy being there. We started with cocktails, and both were memorable in very different ways. The Cucumber Salad was one of the most interesting drinks I have had because it genuinely tasted like a cucumber salad. It was fresh, crisp, and unlike anything else I have tried. The Mango Sticky Rice, though, was the clear standout for me. It was sweet, balanced, and easily one of the best cocktails of the afternoon. For food, we ordered the 777 Platter, which came with Crispy Rice Tuna, Salt and Pepper Shrimp, and Isan Fried Chicken. Everything on the platter was good, but the Salt and Pepper Shrimp was the dish that really stood out. It was perfectly seasoned, crispy, and full of flavor. The Isan Fried Chicken was also a must-order. It had great texture and was one of those dishes that makes you want to keep going back for another bite. By the time we finished that round, we were already talking about what we would order the next time we came back. We also had another round of cocktails, the Cosmopolitan and the Paper Tiger, and both were just as enjoyable as the first round. Next came the Kimchi Fried Rice with Steak and a side of Edamame. The kimchi fried rice was easily one of my favorite dishes of the entire meal. It was rich, savory, comforting, and packed with flavor. It is the kind of dish I would come back for on its own. To finish, we had the Yuzu Donuts served with Matcha Ice Cream and the Black Jack Lava Cake, along with one final cocktail, the Good Time Girl. Both desserts were the perfect ending to the meal. They felt like the right balance of sweet and satisfying without being too heavy. What stood out most to me about Black Jack Bar Tapas was that every part of the experience delivered. The food was excellent, the cocktails were creative, the service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere made the whole meal feel special. It is the kind of place where you want to stay a little longer just because the energy is so good. Out of every restaurant I have visited for Reservations in the City, Black Jack Bar Tapas has easily become one of my favorites. Whether you are planning a date night, catching up with friends, or just looking for a place to treat yourself, this is a reservation worth making.
