Stopped by Breakfast Boyz fresh off my flight and was starving! This location is conveniently about 10 minutes from the airport, which was perfect. After booking my reservation through Yelp, we were seated immediately. Our waitress was attentive, and made some great recommendations. The food came out quickly, although I wish it had been hotter--it was more warm than hot. Aside from that, everything was tasty and I enjoyed my meal. We ordered the catfish nuggets, salmon eggrollls, the jerk chicken and sweet potato waffles and the catfish, shrimp and grits. I brought my wife and baby here on her suggestion after many years of not going even though it's right down the street haha! Honestly they've done a great job with the place! It went from being an underused cafe to being a line out the door establishment that's very popular. The thing that struck me the most was how friendly the staff was. There are so many restaurants where you feel like your lucky to get service or that they really don't care. Like, they actually came by to check on us and make sure we had what we needed. The food was pretty awesome and the prices were very reasonable. I love what they've done with the decoration. There's some historic paintings and pictures that are pretty cool in the downstairs portion. My wife had the bacon egg and cheddar sandwich with a side of grits. It was a great choice and we have since ordered that again. The baby likes pancakes so we ordered a stack of pancakes and that came out great too, even though I don't think it's technically on the menu. I had the fried green tomato stack, which was perfect because I usually end up nibbling off of my wife's and baby's plates. TLDR: We waited 90 minutes WITH A RESERVATION made days in advance, only to be seated in a MOLDY SMELLING BASEMENT with water dripping from the ceiling. For a birthday celebration and a party of 13, the entire experience was incredibly disappointing. My family and I took my mother-in-love to The Breakfast Boys for her birthday on a Saturday morning. We had a 12pm reservation and were not seated until 1:30pm. Yep, we waited 90 minutes WITH A RESERVATION. Despite making our reservation weeks in advance, there was apparently an event in town that brought a large number of people to the restaurant. Cool. I understand that restaurants get busy. But it appears this establishment has no awareness of how to stagger its tables in a way that allowed them to honor a reservation for 13 people that had been made weeks ahead of time. And then, after waiting 90 minutes, they took us downstairs to a MOLDY SMELLING BASEMENT. As soon as you walked down there the air smelled old, damp, and wet. It's as if the moisture had settled into the basement and never fully dried out. To make matters worse, we could see water dripping from the ceiling, which made the space feel even more neglected and concerning. This is where they took a reservation after waiting 90 minutes. We get down there, and the tables (plural!) aren't even prepared for our party. The dude is standing beside us on the walk is talkie begging people, multiple times, to come bust down "table 80." They then proceeded to tell us that we couldn't sit together. We also couldn't sit NEAR one another, wait... because we would have two separate servers. Given the 90 minutes it took to seat us, plus the weeks they had to prepare for our visit, that probably should have been thought through before bringing us downstairs. Hey, who am I?! We finally got seated, and our server, Bianca, was serving our large party split between tables that were distanced from one another. There was an entire party seated between us. And what I really despise about establishments like this is that they can provide you with any type of service and still mandate 20% gratuity on a SPLIT party. The food was edible. It was decent. I forgot to take pictures, and I honestly wouldn't be opposed to eating the food again. But let me be very clear. People go to restaurants for an experience, and this establishment failed to provide one. Even the smaller things became frustrating. When we sat down, I told Bianca that I would be paying for my family and my mother-in-love. When it was time to pay, she forgot to put our tickets together. I also specifically asked whether the wings came as a meal because I was ordering fries for my daughter and didn't want two large orders of fries. She told me they did. They did not. So, of course, we ended up with two large orders of fries. Y'all, I was just annoyed the ENTIRE time. The final straw came when I asked Bianca for our ticket on my way out because I was tired of sitting in a swamp. Her response and overall demeanor came across as very nice nasty, almost like, "you'll get your ticket when I bring it." That, coupled with the disregard for my earlier request to combine our tickets, forced my hand in writing this review. If you decide to visit, do so at your own risk. And perhaps go with fewer than four people. This has to be one of the most chaotic and disorderly restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. I genuinely did not want to write this review, especially after celebrating my mother-in-love's birthday, but I'm just appalled at how poorly the entire experience was handled. And, on top of that, no one even acknowledge it was her birthday lol. No song, no cake...nothing. Happy I finally had the opportunity to check out the very popular Breakfast Boys. Took my Husband for brunch on his birthday. I was able to easily make a reservation and edit the time when needed. The Breakfast Boys is located in charming downtown College Park. Parking is limited in front of the restaurant so we parked on a side street in a lovely neighborhood a short walk from the restaurant. Once we arrived we checked-in at the host stand and had to wait in a line outside the restaurant until our table was ready. The restaurant had benches and umbrellas to keep you in the shade while waiting but would be nice if they added a bit more for the warmer months. When the table was ready we were quickly seated and greeted by our exceptional server, King. We started with catfish nuggets that were very flavorful and paired well with a remoulade. To drink we tried the passionfruit mimosas that were pretty good and made well. For our entrees I had the chicken and pancakes and my husband had the catfish, grits and eggs. The birthday boy loved the grits as they were very creamy but his eggs were fried a bit too hard. My pancakes were pretty flavorful to where they were already slightly sweet without syrup but not in an overwhelming way. The chicken was good too. Most restaurants usually offer a treat for birthdays so was surprised they didn't. Either the food is great, the menu has many southern breakfast classics and vegan options. The initial interaction with the host felt a bit overly assertive for the situation. I understand there was a designated waiting area and procedures to follow, but the tone came across as if she was managing a large crowd, when it was just our group. The food at The Breakfast Boys was AMAZING. I had the salmon and potatoes, my wife had the jerk chicken with sweet potato pancakes, and my kids had the chicken and waffles. We also ordered the salmon egg rolls. Everything tasted great, and I honestly have no complaints about the quality of the food and service. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with what happened when we received our bill. Our party consisted of only five people my wife and me and our three children, ages 12, 5, and 2. Our two youngest children shared a meal, so we only ordered four main courses. When we received our bill, we discovered that a mandatory 20% "large party" fee had been added. What bothered me most was that no one informed us about this charge before we ordered. There was no verbal explanation from our server that our family of five would be considered a "large party" or that an additional 20% would automatically be added to our bill. We didn't arrive in a large car, the whole family can fit in a compact car. I understand that restaurants can establish policies regarding service charges and automatic gratuities, and these types of charges are not automatically prohibited under Georgia law. However, customers should be clearly informed about mandatory charges before ordering so they can understand the actual cost of their meal and make an informed decision. I also find it surprising that two adults dining with three children including a 2-year-old would be considered a "large party." Had the 20% policy been clearly disclosed to us beforehand, at least we would have known what to expect. Discovering it only when the bill arrived took away from what would have been a complete great experience. The food was genuinely fantastic, and I would absolutely give the kitchen high marks. I just believe The Breakfast Boys needs to be much more transparent about its 20% large-party fee, including exactly what party size qualifies. I came to BB with my sisters for a mid-evening brunch on a Saturday. We made a reservation prior to that week. However, the hostess verbatim told us the reservation is more so "for show" You get added to the same list as walk in's. We had a 12:30 reservation sat roughly 45 minutes post check-in. I was about 5 minutes from leaving with my party ( mind you parking is $15) so you sort of don't want to leave but we were going to. They truly need to expand or work on their reservation system- I was told "we don't hold tables" which I understand but prioritizing street traffic over reservations is ridiculous. NOW once we were in - we didn't know there was a downstairs area. We sat downstairs and that's when the SERVICE began. I will come back because the food is actually delicious and the servers were nice. We got a bottle of champagne for roughly $40. The mimosas started flowing. WE all ordered different meals and took a bite out of everyone's. EVERY SINGLE THING WAS GOOD! We had a tab of less than $200 for 3 people which is AMAZING for the Atlanta brunch scene. This isn't the hookah stand on tables brunch but its a nice ambiance and there's good R&B playing. Ms. Gabby was our server and she was so sweet. This place was a last minute find the day of. We went on a Saturday morning. The inside is a bit small, but they have an outside waiting area (which can get a bit warm while you wait). We were sat about 10-15 after our reservation time. Our server was very sweet and helpful. Food came out very quick and was delicious. "The bees knees", went here for breakfast on our final day in Atlanta with the fam... tried to decide between 3 different places and Im so glad we went with this Resto. When we got there they were almost at full capacity and very busy but even with that we were able to sit pretty quickly and the service was fast and efficient. I've known about The Breakfast Boys for quite a while but never made the trek out to College Park because, well, anyone who lives in metro Atlanta knows how traffic can turn a few miles into a half-day journey. But one Sunday after church, I finally decided to go for it, especially since I was craving a solid breakfast or brunch spot that really stood out. What drew me in was their French toast--it looked absolutely delicious in the photos, and I'm pretty picky about French toast. A lot of places just don't get the custard ratio right or serve it dry and unappealing. But theirs looked fantastic, so I ordered it along with an oatmeal bowl and their shrimp and grits with catfish, which seemed to be a top seller. Now, the parking situation wasn't ideal--there wasn't much of it, so I ended up parking on a residential street since I was just doing a quick pickup. Once I got home, the experience turned into a bit of a mixed bag. On the positive side, the French toast itself was absolutely amazing--definitely worth trying again. But it was supposed to be a berry French toast, and I was really disappointed to find that the "berries" consisted of just two blueberries and half a strawberry. The whipped cream portion was also tiny--it looked like a nickel sized amount of spittle--and had melted into basically nothing by the time I got it. Given that I make whipped cream myself often, I know it shouldn't vanish that fast. So that was a letdown. The oatmeal bowl was also watery and not as satisfying as I'd hoped. And while the shrimp and grits with catfish tasted good, something in the meal didn't sit right with my stomach afterward. To top it off, when I called the restaurant to ask about the portion sizes of the berries and whipped cream, I was put on hold for about 7 minutes, so they could ask about it and eventually someone came back, didn't say anything for about a minute before hanging up. No one picked up when I tried calling back the 2 times I dialed out, which was pretty frustrating. All in all, the flavors were there, and I might give them another shot by dining in to see if the experience improves. But my first visit was a bit of a rollercoaster--some highs with that delicious French toast, and some lows with the service and consistency. read more

Even with the crowd, our wait wasn't long. Once inside, I was surprised to see there was an additional dining room downstairs. We were greeted by our server, Nita, who was outstanding. She knew the menu and was able to explain everything in detail without hesitation. Her timing and service were on point. Even though the restaurant was extremely busy, we really didn't have to ask for anything. As a chef, I naturally pay attention to how a restaurant operates, and what really stood out to me was the teamwork. The entire staff was working like a well-oiled machine. The food came out hot, the service was excellent, and everyone in my party was happy with their meal and experience. Before leaving for the airport, I stopped by the restroom. It was fresh, clean, and well maintained. As I walked out, I also looked toward the kitchen and once again noticed the teamwork among the kitchen staff. My favorite meal is the Salmon Hash Skillet and I order it with a side of the lobster sauce. Really takes it up a notch. The fried chicken with pancakes is good as well.
