Well folks I found another gem for ya: Folk Art, a cool artsy cafe near ATL airport. Great vibes, with a properly accepting attitude about life and love, as well as great food. I'm a bit of a huevos rancheros aficionado and this place offers a solid version. While I prefer a more authentic salsa verse, theirs is great and the end result is a beautiful, light dish with flavor and class. Check it out, you won't regret it! read more

Nestled in the Inman Park neighborhood, this location offers nearby street parking or valet parking (pay what you want). We visited on a Saturday after a trip to the nearby Farmers Market at The Carter Center and were immediately seated. The red sangria was nice and strong. I ordered the complete breakfast with grits, eggs with cheese, sausage, and wheat toast. Unfortunately, the grits were bland, and the other items were pretty basic. The service was great, and the restaurant reminds me of a neighborhood hangout. In my opinion, it was dusty and could use a deep cleaning. This a very nice spot. Loved the decor and the music that was played throughout my meal. We started with an order of sweet potato donut holes, which I was very skeptical about actually, but they were pretty tasty, I just wasn't a big fan of the breading. We then had a bit of a wait for our food because it was very packed for the 4th, and we enjoyed some mimosas in the mean time. Those mimosas definitely had champagne and SPLASH of juice! Lol but I liked it! My husband had the steak(medium) and eggs and I the French toast, scrambled eggs with cheese and hashbrowns. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. Casual, cool vibe in Inman Park, with garage doors and cool art. Lately I've been going for brunch after yoga and getting the short ribs and grits, which is an AMAZING gluten free meal. It has a huge hunk of delicious meat with a tasty au jus sauce, two eggs cooked to your liking, roasted carrots, and grits. It lasts me for three meals. I've been coming here for years and used to add kimchi to the lamb burger. Service is always good. We ordered that, fried green tomatoes, a breakfast sandwich with hash brows, and a side of the cucumber avocado salad because I felt like it was needed a non-fried vegetable. That cucumber avocado side salad was delicious. The avocado was perfectly ripe, and they drizzled this incredible spicy mustard (?) vinaigrette over it that complimented it beautifully. I wish I got more! The fried green tomatoes were phenomenal. I didn't try the breakfast sandwich, but the portion was generous. What a fantastic place. I visited Folk Art with my fellow Elite, Ashley B., on a weekday afternoon and we had such a wonderful experience! This Folk Art location is nestled in a row of lovely restaurants that may go unnoticed if you don't know what you're looking for. Despite being smaller than some restaurants, there were still so many seating options available inside and on their covered terrace. There was also tons of free parking outside in an adjoining lot which can be a rarity these days. We were seated and paired up with Cam as our waiter and, wow. What a great guy! He was so patient, super nice and so open to sharing his recommendations. He seemed like he was happy to be at work and was in such a good mood, it rubbed off on me! We started with cappuccinos and the grit balls as we decided on our entrees. My coffee was so delicious, mixed with just the perfect amount of caramel. Such a great pick-me-up. The grit balls were delicious! The peach jam was such a great pairing with the fried grit balls, a great recommendation from Cam. For an entree I went for the 'Foul Play' which is their take on chicken and waffles. I'm not a huge chicken and waffles fan but I went for it. Everything was perfectly cooked but it's still not the raving success for me as it is for others lol. Before we left I grabbed a lavender lemonade and, WOW. It was SO good. My better half had a doctor's appointment in downtown ATL off North Druid Hills Road. We left the appointment around 11:15 and looked for nearby restaurants that served breakfast and lunch options. The restaurant had street parking and we parked around the corner from Folk Art. This is a fairly compact location so I am confident that they get very busy on weekends. Upon entry we were quickly greeted by a friendly wait staff person. She told us we could sit wherever we wanted and she delivered menus to our booth. Another member of their wait staff arrived at our table and took our drink orders. My better half wanted lunch so she ordered the steak sandwich with a side of sautéed spinach. I was in the mood for breakfast so I ordered the Folk Southern Fried (a large fried chicken breast on house made fluffy biscuits with two eggs and covered in scrumptious sausage gravy). I ordered my eggs poached and it was a delicious combination of hot fried chicken breast and perfectly cooked poached eggs. My better half enjoyed the steak sandwich which includes grilled mushrooms, onions, and red peppers covered in Provolone cheese. The sandwich has a delicious horseradish sauce piped over the sandwich. The interior of this restaurant is really cool with walls covered in art and beer signs. A very relaxing atmosphere with friendly and outgoing wait staff. If you haven't been to Folk Art Restaurant, you should give them a try as soon as possible! read more

The space isn't that big inside, but they use it very well. It is always clean and the service is excellent. I always appreciate the kindness and efficiency of the staff. I enjoy their brewed coffee and juice selection. Today I opted for the Complete Breakfast which included 3 eggs, a protein, grits or hash browns, and toast. My guy had to go asked for syrup and also swap out hot sauce, at this point he asked me for a tip because he felt like he worked there.-lol Ambiance: The place is adorable, all of the old signs gives the place so much character, the music was really good, it was so much fun watching the kid seated next to us sing most of the R & B songs playing. The place is nestled in a historic part of town with parking that could be a tad difficult as it appeared to be street only. It's a bit cozy, but it definitely has a nice prideful Georgia theme going on in the interior. I started off with the sweet potato beignets before ordering the fowl play and washing it all down with a special cocktail. I forget if it was strawberry or watermelon. The sweet potato beignets were a wonderful start to the meal. I'm not a fan of regular beignets because they're just crispy pieces of air drenched in powdered sugar. These had way more substance to them, and I'd recommend sharing them if you ordered a real entree. Speaking of entrees, I had the foil play. It's chicken and waffles, complete with syrup and an amazing peach compote. The compote gave the sweet and savory fried food a slight kick and it all tasted great as an experience. I wouldn't say the chicken and waffle were all that great though, which is a little disappointing for a southern spot. The cocktail I had was very refreshing and definitely a highlight. I decided to check this place out on a whim. The food looked good on their website and Instagram. Honestly I wasn't a fan of the food. I started with the grit fritters which were okay, I think the jam is what made me not like it. I next got the turkey sausage, tomato and spinach Benedict. I liked it but would probably would've been better without the spinach. I also decided to try the Mac and cheese which was different. I can't put my finger on it but it was okay. I also got the sausage gravy which paired well with the grit fritters. I ordered a cocktail but forgot the name - it had ginger in it which added a spiciness to it. If you like ginger then you'd like it. I ended up getting a margarita but it wasn't sweet so I didn't enjoy it. It did take a while for me to be served initially but once my waiter took my order, everything came out swiftly. The restaurant itself is a nice vibe. The food just didn't meet my expectations.
