Vodka/Pineapple cocktail, Catfish and grits, scrambled eggs
    Jack B.

I wanted a good breakfast after working an overnight shift. Did a search who serves fish and grits along with adult libations... Augie's Breakfast Bar popped up. I arrived right after they opened, a little after 7a. I was promptly greeted and took a seat at the bar. Since I was hungry and had perused the online menu before I got there, I knew exactly what I wanted. I asked what vodka was in the well, and was told Smirnoff. Bet. I was poured a very tasty vodka and pineapple juice. I asked what kinda of fish came with the grits and found out it's catfish. Cool. That's what I want! The bowl of grits y'all were huge! Creamy with a cheese sauce...absolutely delicious. When the lady (Should've asked he if she was the Owner) that fried the fish brought it to me about a minute later, I was in a happy place. The catfish was hot straight out the oil! I mixed the fish and scrambled eggs (ordered a la carte) into the bowl of grits, Old Skool Southern Style! The fish was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I dined sufficiently and got full, So I asked for a to go box. Ate the warmed leftovers for breakfast this AM. Great spot...I'll definitely return.

2/5 - First and Last Visit at Augie's It's a pretty Saturday morning, so we decided to try a new spot. The wheel was spun and landed on Augie's, located at 1220 Caroline St, Atlanta, GA 30307. I checked out the website and, after reading some of the reviews, we decided to give it a try. As I write this, we're now an hour into our visit -- and we still haven't received our food. Upon entering, I stood for over six minutes waiting for someone to greet us so I could find out whether we should seat ourselves or wait to be seated. We were eventually greeted by a beautifully seasoned woman with a great smile and pleasant attitude. She seated us on the patio, and about ten minutes later a server appeared to take our drink order. It took another fifteen minutes for her to return -- with only water (which no one ordered). She answered our questions about the menu and said she'd return with our drinks and take our food order. Ten minutes later, she returned with only two of the five drinks and finally took our order. At this point, it had been an hour and ten minutes with no return to the table and no food. I finally went inside to ask about our order, and another server was sent to check. A few minutes later, the food arrived. The food was medium-hot, making me wonder how long it had been sitting in the window. Presentation was okay, but the taste was just average. The Parmesan cheese overpowered the shrimp and grits, and the pancakes had a slightly gritty texture. Overall, this was not the relaxing brunch experience we hoped for. Service was extremely slow, and the food didn't make up for the wait. I absolutely never have to return.

I used to work in this area years ago when it was a pizza spot at this location. As I was over this way, I saw this spot and decided to give it a try. Overall , I've came back two more times shhh . Plenty of seats to dine in. Pictures on the walls and they had some great old school music playing. There was a patio portion as well if you wanted to eat outside. My waitress was awesome. Got to me right away and shared her most favorite items with me. I will definitely bring more people back with me. That grits and blackened salmon was the bomb!!! That's what made me come back ! Good place overall! You'll love it.

Was excited to try this place after reading the reviews! I ordered the breakfast burrito and it was... so greasy and not tasty. The eggs were an odd consistency and everything tasted the same. If you're looking for an authentic breakfast burrito, this isn't it. I'll come back to try other items in the future.

    Keep That Same Ol' Feeling

I was in the area and wanted to grab a quick bite on a Thursday late morning and saw this brunch spot. I walked in and was quickly served. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and a good amount of tables for the size. I ordered "Keep that same old feeling" which included 3 whole fried wings, collards and mac n cheese. Everything was really tasty, which can be a challenge for delivering good collards and man n cheese. The wings were perfectly cooked. I'll definitely go back again. Know they include a mandatory 20% gratuity in your check before you pay.

shrimp and grits and chicken and waffles

Fast service , great food, super affordable. Went with my boyfriend for brunch, he got the chicken and waffles (8/10) and i got the shrimp and grits (9/10) only because the tails were still on.

Ok, ok....Now I know damn well that I'm supposed to take photos. I'm cognitive of this but I will say in my defense that I had no idea just how BOMB this food would be. Holy Googa MOOGA! First of all...the scrambled eggs? Yeah THOSE. Are some of the best I've had in LIFE! The French toast was actually (and I'm embarrassed to say this..) even better than my own! The nerve of Augie's!!. The customer service, decor, timeliness, ambience, music. Yeah folks..we've got a 10 out of 10 with this spot right here. My new Atlanta FAVORITE. Mic drop!

    Steak omelet and biscuit

Visited on a Friday afternoon with my husband. Location is in a plaza so there's ample parking and the interior is a lot larger than I expected, they even have an enclosed patio. There weren't many people and we were told to seat ourselves so we sat in the booth. The server greeted us and gave us menus which we appreciated more than using the qr codes on the table. She asked us what we wanted to drink and we both said waters. I found them bc of tik tok so I inquired about the bottomless mimosas which she said they did. They had a nice selection of flavors and some I had never heard of it. He got strawberry and I got mango. While she went to get drinks, we looked at the menu. I decided on The Way You Make Me Feel with scrambled eggs and vegan sausage. My husband got the omelet with steak and it came with a biscuit. After she took our order, we sipped out drinks, and enjoyed each other's company. The decor was simple but lively and they had some good old school R&B playing. The food came out and looked good! My pancakes had a crispy edge which I loved. Vegan sausage was what it was and the scrambled eggs could've used some salt and pepper. Husband thoroughly enjoyed his omelet, saying that the flavor was on point. That biscuit was so good, it was fluffy and melted in your mouth. I should've ordered me one lol. All in all, it was a great experience and great value. I can't wait to return.

DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR LARGE PARTIES!!! The owner took advantage of my group which consisted of members of the special needs community and group leaders. Two of our group leaders went in before the group to make arrangements for everyone. The owner told them that the only way that they can serve our large group is that they must spend $35 per person. The menu prices ranged from $2-25. Many of our people have a budget and dietary needs. Many also eat small amounts of food. $35 would be a waste of food and money.

"Hot Stuff" Ribeye steak, eggs, and side.
    Sonny D.

Augie's has a good overall concept. The food is delicious and well flavored. My wife and I enjoyed the "Hot Stuff" which is the rib eye steak with eggs and choice of side. Both were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The place is really tiny and the check in process is not clear to guests. When I entered, no one initially greeted me but after inquiry I received the response, "we will be with you in a second sir." True to the word we were shortly approached for our party size. They worked on our seating arrangement quickly and our party of 8 was seated within 10 minutes. Our server, Ebony, was pleasant and took great care of us. The entire family stated how wonderful their food was even without me asking. This was a great overall stop with tasty food. I would love to see them reorganize the guest check in process and examine the brunch drink menu, as they did not offer a few things we requested. Ebony did make up for this too and was very clear about what she could do instead. All in all, great place, good food, just a bit tiny.

My fiancé found this place today on yelp and we decided to check it out! I'm so glad we did. As you enter everyone is friendly and welcoming. The music is giving soul and neo vibes. The bathrooms are very clean! And now lets talk about the food baby! I ordered Chicken wings and pancakes!!!! No cap, the BEST pancakes I have EVER had. No exaggeration! Crispy edges, buttery, thin and simply amazing. The chicken wings were fried to perfection and seasoned perfectly! The chef was amazing! My fiancee ordered catfish and grits ; The fish was seasoned and fried perfectly! The grits were creamy, flavorable, cheesy and honestly top tier! This will now be our go to breakfast spot! Everything 10/10!!!!! Please just go support and check out this amazing black owned space!

    House Potatoes
    Lavinna K.

Loved this spot. Friendly service. The music.....took me back down memory lane..love the album covers on the wall. The food was great... Got the chicken and waffle. The waffle needs no syrup it had a great taste. The chicken was crispy. Pancake, eggs and bacon was good. I'm sure the pancakes had crispy edges but not with take out. I had to try a side of grits and potatoes. The grits were tasty but the star was the potatoes!! I could eat those everyday. We kept saying how can this be so good it's just breakfast food. If it's this good with takeout (takeout can be tricky) I can't wait to go back and dine in. Only thing I will say is I don't think take- out should be automatically charged 20%. And even if they keep that it's still misleading bc as you're moving through the screen there's an option to select tip. Thanks yelpers for advising me that every ticket is charged 20% automatically or they would have gotten 40%. That really needs to be addressed. With all they are doing well that is a huge misstep.

The cashier really leaned into the accent and took the time to thoroughly explain the menu, which made the whole experience feel more immersive and welcoming. Parking was easy on an early weekday afternoon -- always a win. The space works well for small parties, but be prepared: tables are small and seating is close together. One tip: avoid sitting upstairs in Eden. It's noticeably warmer than the rest of the restaurant, and you'll likely leave smelling like breakfast. Overall, a fun, themed spot with great service. One thing I really loved was the photo booth outside in the parking garage--it was such a fun touch and made the visit even more memorable. The only downside was the parking. Unless you're lucky enough to find street parking, you'll have to park in the garage, which wasn't my favorite. Other than that, everything was great. The bartender was incredibly kind and patient, especially since I'm very picky about drinks. She helped me choose one that I ended up loving. The atmosphere inside was also really nice, with a fun and welcoming vibe. I'd definitely come back!

SUPER unimpressed with my visit here…read more Based on the decor, especially the photo area in the parking deck and the fake flower arch outside, my first impression was that this was going to be a "TikTok trap": a restaurant focused more on aesthetics than food or service. Unfortunately, that impression ended up being accurate. It took forever for our food to come out. The parties around us were clearly frustrated as well. I watched one table become visibly irritated, while another guest stopped a server to ask if the food being carried out was theirs because they had apparently been waiting over an hour. As the wait dragged on, I started paying closer attention to the decor, which I personally found tacky and gimmicky, especially the fake greenery hanging across the ceiling. The fried green tomatoes and sweet heat wings were really good, and I started to rethink my initial assessment of the restaurant. Everything went downhill from there. My "Rich Boy" sandwich itself was good, but it came with completely unseasoned fries. When I mentioned that I was supposed to have the "Rolex" fries, the server told me the plain fries were what I got. After clarifying with another server, they brought out the actual "Rolex" fries, which appeared to just be fries with a little parmesan and parsley on top. Supposedly they were truffle fries, but there wasn't even a hint of truffle flavor. My partner ordered the veggie sausage, which was overcooked and dry. Their eggs came out over easy instead of over medium, and the "signature grits" were more like cream cheese with a little bit of grits mixed in. We were told more grits would be brought out, but they never came. Another person in my party ordered the Southern seafood pasta, which had literally one piece of spinach in it. When she asked about it, the server responded that there was "more spinach coming." At that point, it became clear that Barney's is selling the illusion of luxury in order to justify premium prices for subpar food and service. It really was a TikTok trap after all. To make matters worse, when the check came, we were charged an additional $1.50 for eggs that already came with the meal. The explanation was that the eggs "came from the shell." Others in my party were also charged extra for liquor on top of the listed menu price for their drinks. Overall, I absolutely did not enjoy my experience here, and I will not be returning. Oh, and that other party that was visibly irritated with the wait had to wait even longer because there was a hair in their food.

I only found out when I got the bill. When I questioned it, she basically said she couldn't control the system. My issue isn't even the $3. If you're out of the side that comes with the meal, customers shouldn't have to pay extra for a replacement. And I definitely don't appreciate surprise charges on my bill. I had my child with me, so I wasn't about to go back and forth over $3. I paid it and kept it moving. Another surprise was that they don't offer free water. If you want water, you have to buy a bottle. Between paying for parking, paying for bottled water, and no drink refills, the little charges started adding up. I felt "nickled and dimed." The music couldn't decide what vibe it wanted. One minute we could talk normally, and the next minute we were basically at a concert. There was also a leak in the ceiling, and near the restrooms there was a smell that reminded me of old wet towels. On the positive side, the host was amazing. He was super personable and welcoming. They also turn those tables over FAST. By the time we paid, our dishes were gone and the table was already cleaned and ready for the next group. The food is what saved this review.
