The food at homegrown was exactly what I needed in the early hours of my roadtrip. This spot came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. We came in on a Friday morning and were quickly seated. The restaurant is quirky and the walls are covered in local art for purchase. The biscuits were pillowy soft and buttery. The potatoes were well seasoned. The pancake, or "table cake" as our waitress referred to it, was twice the size of my face and delicious! I honestly think one meal can be split between two with how larger the portions are. I would definitely recommend if you are in the area!
The food here was incredible. We were blown away with it all. We absolutely loved that you could pour your own coffee as you are waiting for your table. That make it much more enjoyable! The ambiance was quirky and perfect for a southern diner! Service was great and we had a wonderful time! Only knock was a 30ish minute wait for our table!
Its super hard to get into this place especially on the weekends because its so very popular but I got lucky and secured a spot at the bar. Everything was superb! French toast cooked to perfection and I love the flavor of the chicken sausage. And I cant come here and not get a biscoff caramel latte...if you haven't tried it...you must! I saw the sky open up and the rest of my day was made well! This place is super busy but the staff does a great job of making sure you're taken care of, you'll have multiple people checking in on you.
This place is consistently a 4 star. I really like the vibe of this place. It is always a pleasure to eat at a venue where the people came for the food and no frills. I ordered the comfy chicken with a salmon patty and french toast. Weird combination but I wanted to try many items. The French toast was really good and simple. The salmon patty is good value but more breading than I expected. The comfy chicken seemed to be more breading than last time but the gravy had more sausage this time. No complaints.
Wonderful local spot. Of course as mentioned by others, the comfy biscuit is a go to item. Large portion and I probably don't want to know the calorie, fat and carb count but it will make your eyes roll back in your head. Large cat head biscuit

The service was great and the staff gave many recommendations. I had the Basic Breakfast so I could try a couple of different things (and I love a no fuss breakfast). I subbed the grits for home fries and added a chocolate chip pancake. The bacon is thick so not very crispy. The biscuit melts in your mouth. The pancake is HUGE and is so good. You don't have to add any syrup because it is already the perfect balance of sweetness.

They have a lot with free parking, but when it gets crowded (and trust it will) there's also street parking available. Venue and Atmosphere Homegrown is the perfect name because that's exactly what it feels like when you walk through the door. You feel at home. Whether it's the smiles you get from the hostess, the bar that reminds you of an old time lunch counter, or the booths that are super comfy to sit in, or the fridge covered in a million magnets. It's just immediately cozy and casual, which is the first indicator that good food is to follow. Food and drinks I got the comfy chicken biscuit, and comfy is the perfect word for it. It's an open-faced biscuit topped with fried chicken that they absolutely drown in sausage gravy. It was absolutely as good as it sounds. It was cold outside so to drink I got a hot caramel latte, extra on the caramel. You're gonna want that too. My wife got the breakfast enchiladas and the chorizo was so flavorful. Only one of us took leftover home, and it wasn't her lol. Service Staff is so friendly, from the hostess to our actual server to whoever is working the bar. You really feel like no matter what if you need help there is someone to help you. Food came out quickly, even though there was a steady constant stream of people coming and going Verdict Like I said Homegrown is absolutely a staple. It's a place for good food that will reignite conversations, make you smile, and fill your belly. You have to give them a visit. Until next time!
I'm pissed it took me so long to find this place. Best chicken biscuit and gravy in the southeast and I stamp that! I ordered the comfy chicken and I can't elaborate how amazing it was. Would you believe me if I said after I ordered it took 2 minutes to get my food? Well that's a lie, because it took 1 minute and 36 seconds. I timed it and I still can't believe it. I will never eat another biscuit and gravy besides Home grown. You're welcome!
Flawless execution. Vibes, immaculate. Speed of service - exquisite. Soft butteryness of the biscuit = transcendent. Creative use of chorizo, grits, pimento cheese, and lays. Simply life changing. Fried chicken, perfect season, classic crispiness, just juicy.
She eats. He eats. And sometimes my plate steals the show. Homegrown came through with breakfast that knows what it is doing. I ordered the country fried steak with scrambled eggs and cheese grits and that plate was the clear winner. Crispy tender cubed steak covered in rich brown gravy with perfectly cooked eggs and smooth grits. The fried green tomatoes were easily the best I have ever had. Perfectly fried and paired with an incredible horseradish ranch that we are still talking about. The biscuit with apple butter was warm, fluffy, and delicious. I also tried the salmon biscuit. The flavor was good, but the salmon patties leaned a bit too bready for my taste. He ordered the steak hash and even he admitted my country fried steak was better. But the steak hash was still Important allergy disclaimer. I have a mushroom allergy and it was noted on my receipt. They have a table all purpose sauce that tasted amazing to him. He checked the ingredients and found out it contains mushroom extract. I did not taste it and was thankful he asked. Overall, Homegrown is a solid Atlanta breakfast spot with great food and plates worth debating. The place was amazing and you get a sense of a cozy 80s country diner!!! Just be sure to ask questions if you have food allergies.

We came Sunday around 12pm for brunch, we were told the wait would be 30-45 minutes, you can wait outside, or what we did instead was visit the surrounding shops near by to kill time. About an hour into our wait, we decided to order take out. The food was ready within 15 minutes and we found a bench near by to eat. My mother got the Lynn's Salmon patty which was more so one salmon croquette, a fried tomato over satueed spinach. The portion size was on the smaller side but the food was very good, just a bit misleading when the menu advertises a salmon patty which it was not. I got the Wes Sandwich which is just a fancy BBQ chicken sandwich. The meat was tender and it was loaded with bacon and chicken, it was very good. If the wait is long you can order a coffee inside while you wait.
The one thing we knew we wanted after landing in ATL on an early flight was a great breakfast. After scouring Yelp, we decided on Home Grown--and it did not disappoint. Parking can be a bit tricky, but we arrived early enough to snag a spot in the small lot and get seated right away. Our server was friendly and super helpful with meal suggestions. I went with the Comfy Chicken Biscuit, my daughter ordered the Breakfast Tacos, and my sister chose the Chicken and Waffles. All three dishes were absolutely devoured, with barely a bite left on our plates. Great food, fun atmosphere, and friendly service--you really can't beat it!
If I could give this local favorite of six star review I would. Kevin, the owner and Mastermind behind the delicious array of flavors in all of their menu items. And house specials, is friendly and engaging. He makes the rounds and talks to the customers, makes them feel like home. All the staff seem to work together well and a very jovial. I sat at the counter cuz I was flying solo and had nice conversations with those next to me. The way the entire building is decorated is completely eye candy and as satisfying as the food. If you like crazy loopy, different kind of stuff. There's a specific coffee shop and small gift shop in the back with social & environmental conscious products. Even have a film development drop off that I guess locals take advantage of cuz where do you go for that anymore other than some kind of chain pharmacy?. I took pictures for my posting but also for myself to consider coming back and shopping another time. Several of the magnets and signs I would love to own. The food is plentiful and flavorful. I had the daily special of Georgia fresh shrimp sauteed on top of homemade sourdough that had a little bit of a French toast crispy to it, topped with roasted tomatoes and spinach and thin crispy onions that were well seasoned. Most the time for lunch you just hope for something that taste good and this was beyond my wildest dreams of what I was going to eat for lunch today. And it was only $10. The burgers, the fried chicken, the fried shrimp, everything was looking so yummy. I totally have to come back. The place is much bigger than it looks from the front because it extends around the corner behind the counter and they greet you when you come in. read more
A true hearty southern breakfast experience! Be prepared for a long wait. Put your name down and walk around the neighborhood or go to the connected coffee shop. There's some limited parking in the lot behind the restaurant, but there's otherwise street parking in the general neighborhood. Come hungry! Portion sizes are huge and food is heavy. The service was great. Southern hospitality at its finest and they came by frequently to refill waters and coffee. It's a little bit hole in the wall/greasy in there, but that's part of the charm. If you're trying to get in and out, I recommend coming with smaller groups, like 2-4 people. I think it'd be chaotic to try and deal with a big party in the basement dining area. Recommend any of the fried chicken dishes, biscuits, and fried okra. read more

So upset that it took me this long to try Home Grown! The food all feels homemade and was absolutely delicious. Some of the best cheese grits I've ever had no exaggeration. Our server was so friendly and the inside is bigger than it looks. Loved that they support local artists and you can purchase different pieces! Also, the Velveteen chai latte was out of this world. If you want southern comfort food with a diner atmosphere, this is the place to go! There's plenty of parking in the area. Their parking lot is pretty big but it was full when we arrived, but there's lots of free street parking nearby. We came on a Friday morning around 11 and had to wait about 20 min, so not too long, but I heard on weekends the wait can be much longer! The inside of this place is so quirky! I love all the decor they have! Our server was super nice and once we ordered, we got served very quickly! I ordered the comfy chicken and oh my gosh was it comfy! It was a like a hug to my soul! The chicken was SO incredibly soft and juicy it almost just like fell apart as soon as I bit into it! The gravy was delicious!! The sausage bits inside were amazing! And the biscuit!! So soft and moist and very crumbly! They have enough gravy which I loved because one of my biggest pet peeves is when I get biscuits and gravy and they don't give enough gravy. A simply delightful place with not fancy food, but great food. With really interesting decor and a very diverse clientele with a really cool coffee shop and art on the wall for sale. The fried green tomatoes were some of the best fried green tomatoes I've ever had. read more

Excellent choice for breakfast/brunch... if you can get in! The restaurant has quick table turnover, so even if they say the wait is long, consider putting your name in, you don't want to miss Home Grown! The menu is quite diverse (and all good) - vegetarian options, southern, texmex, sandwiches, etc... My favorite part is the whole vibe of the restaurant: there is local art lining all of the walls, some available for purchase! The whole venue is cute and definitely worth a stop in. read more

Home Grown is my new go-to spot for brunch. It's not pretentious and makes you feel like you're at a diner. Service was good and quick even with few people working on a Monday morning. Lots of food options and both our choices were delicious. Be sure to grab a pop tart, I wish we had asked for it to be warmed up. read more

The vibe was immaculate. The staff was friendly and personable. The food came out quickly and exceeded our expectations. I got the chicken finger plate and subbed a biscuit for the toast, and sausage gravy for the cheese grits. I wanted to try the chicken biscuit with gravy, so this allowed me to build that on my own while still trying the chicken fingers by themselves. While great by themselves, the chicken fingers dipped in their honey mustard was even more unbelievable. Other notable items my party tried were the pancakes and the pimiento cheese. We will definitely be back! read more

I recently visited on 8-28-2025. I visited here previously a couple of years ago. Now I live in the area not to far away. So on 8-28-2025 I had to go with a classic dish. I got the Chicken and Waffle. The waffle is big I actually ate one piece of chicken and took two home with me. I sat at the counter initially there is plenty of butter at hand and napkins. The syrup tastes good also fried chicken is cooked good crispy. It's a lot of chicken on this waffle. I went back on 8-31-2025 for Shrimp and Grits to go. I never had shrimp and grits with this amount of veggies in it. There is onions and green and red peppers sliced or chopped. I tried it how it came the first time. From here on our when I get this dish I will tell them to hold the veggies. I like my shrimp and grits plain with out garnish etc in them. The cheese grits are delicious with the shrimp in them here though for sure. read more

The restaurant has been in the same location for dozens of years it seems. If you like comfort food, you'll like this. Mom, brother and I went for lunch. Mom and I had the Lynne Stack, salmon patty, fried green tomato, spinach, roasted peppers and pimento cheese on top. It's outstanding. Also had an appetizer, the fried okra. The okra is whole pieces and only flash fried. It's delicious. read more

Do they take reservations?
No they are a first come first serve. Also be aware if you have multiple people in your party they won't seat you until all of your group have arrived. That's their policy as of a month ago so not sure if it has changed. Masks are optional.
How's the parking?
Parking can be challenging. Especially when it's busy. Don't keep any valuables in your car!
How's the wait on Sunday mornings?
It depends if you make it before 10:30 could be 5 min to zero wait. After 11 could be 10 to 30 min. I would call before to check.
