Me and my friend decided to give Highland Tap a try after reading the reviews online. But we were very disappointed in the food. The atmosphere is calm, serene and very much relaxing. The people are very welcoming and kind,Excited to serve you. No issues with loud patrons at all. Our Waitress was very attentive and hospitable. She Kept checking on us for anything we needed or wanted and refilled both our drinks as soon as they got liw we didn't even have to ask for refills. But the food is BLAND. lackluster, subpar, nothing to write home about. I was so excited to try the prime ribeye as per the Monday night special, but absolutely zero seasoning/flavor. The loaded mash potatoes were alright. The escargot saved the night because i'm an aficionado for some great snails. My friend had a butger with fries that he said lacked flavor also.

Did someone say prohibition? This place is fantastic. You first need to get below street level to enter. After that a bar and then series a series of rooms. Food was amazing. Service was on point. Definitely worth checking in.

This is one of the long-standing restaurants in Virginia highland. It's got a very British Irish speakeasy bar White. Once you enter from the street level you can walk downstairs and there's a huge bar selection with ample seating. The dining area is separated from the bar. We were seated right away on a Tuesday evening. They had a steak burger on the menu which I tried and it was fantastic. The onion rings dough was strictly average and the french fries are also average but better than onion rings. The parking lot behind will valet for tips. Otherwise street parking is very hard to find. I understand Mondays and Tuesdays are their busiest days but will definitely come back on the weekends to see if they have other specials. I tried to visit these local owned restaurants, do try to stop by

TAP'S FAMOUS STEAK OSCAR (side of mashed potatoes and asparagus)

This is our FAVORITE casual but consistently good date night spot. It's a non pretentious steak house that has excellent steak. Their "famous steak Oscar" (filet mignon medallions topped with lump crab meat) is the absolute best. Their beef carpaccio app is incredible -- thinly sliced raw beef that is so tender, topped with garlic aioli and capers, and paired with toasted mini sliced baguettes -- melt. In. Your. Mouth. Their fried calamari is also delicious, standard, good calamari. We also love the smoked trout dip -- great to share! Their wedge salads are also consistently delicious. Whatever you do, if you drink, GET THE MARTINIS. The espresso martini is SO SMOOTH, slightly creamy. Just perfection. You get a martini glass and a side car mini carafe to refill, so it feels like two drinks! They also make a mean dirty martini. Finally, the chocolate peanut butter pie is to die for. So creamy, perfect balance of chocolate and PB. This place is perfect for a girls night out or date night. On busier nights, get a reservation ahead!

Prime rib with a loaded baked potato

We have been enjoying prime rib Monday at Highland tap. Can't say that it is the best prime rib that I have ever had but it is very good for the price on Monday evening. Service is pretty solid and the atmosphere is lively. Only complaints is that the loaded baked potato has, at times, been a little hard and overdone.

Heard about this local spot and been meaning to try it as I live locally now. Ordered the prime rib and honestly it lacked seasoning on the crust (edges). I love prime rib and I've had it many times at different spots but although this one was cooked to perfection for my liking, the flavor wasn't impressive, hence the 3 stars. The sides were delicious tho - 4 stars. I sat at the bar and both bartenders were top shelf, very attentive service - 5 stars. The beer selection was good and sitting at the bar was comfortable. Definitely has a local pub feel and I loved that! Will be back and will try the prime rib again, maybe it was an off night and I really want to like it. 4 stars overall!

Oyster OYSTERS ROCKEFELLER, 6 EACH - it was ok

Chose Highland Tap for a birthday dinner bc they have Tomahawk steak & open late. Parking is either street or valet at Wells Fargo for $10 but valet closes at 11pm. We went on Friday at 930 and the bar was poppin', very loud and the dining area starts by the bar & goes back. If you're looking for a spot to use your inside voice, this isn't for you. Appetizers we had the oyster Rockefeller and spinach dip. It was ok, cheese could have been more toasted at the top, same for the spinach dip. Bread that came with dip was ok. For cocktails, had their Maple Old Fashioned - tasted the bourbon, it was good. Prior to ordering the Tomahawk, I asked our server about it. For $80 I wanted it to be dang near perfect from the seasoning to the cook. Our server didn't seem to confident, but we went for it as that is what the bday boy wanted. When it hit the table, looked good, nice cook on the meat. Unfortunately, it was not seasoned...not a trace of salt. We had to use the salt at the table and get A1, very disappointing. The side of loaded mash was tasty. Our other friend had the salmon and said that it was also lacking salt. We took the remains of our dishes to doctor up at home. Perhaps their smaller cuts of steak are better prepared, I wouldn't choose this place for tomahawk again. I may be back on Monday to try the prime rib special. Big maybe though.

Prime rib with mushrooms, side of "loaded" mashed potatoes with just the cheese and sour cream.

This place is a staple. It can be a tad loud but we always have good service and a good time. Shane took great care of us last time. The food is tasty and reasonably priced. If you like prime rib, it definitely scratches the itch. The drinks aren't the best, but they make a nice classic dirty martini that comes with a little extra in a sidecar. Overall, it's a good night out.

    THE ORIGINAL STEAK BURGER

Drinks are a great price. They give you a little extra in a smaller shot glass and it basically is a whole extra drink! Food is solid. Cream mussels were delicious. Original steak burger was cooked perfectly and huge. Would love to try the steak next time I visit Atlanta.

    Blackened prime rib special

Parking in this neighborhood is not the best. There is a parking lot with valet parking for the customers. You can find street parking in the neighborhood. It never takes me long to get parking but I hate finding parking this way. You can clearly see the venue from the street at the corner. You must walk downstairs for the establishment. Please watch your step. Bar is huge and has a ton of drinks. Two people were manning the bar and they were busy the entire time. The service was still good. I ordered a Manhattan which was strong. The drink came in a martini glass and another on a chiller. Biggest bang for your buck. It was Monday so I got the Prime Rib special (10oz) blackened with a loaded baked potato. I sent the Prime Rib back to be cooked more because it was cold. It tasted good once I got it back.

We were there celebrating our engagement, and they made it feel so special by decorating our table with rings and confetti to celebrate our love. Our server gave us so much attention and made the experience feel personal. Since it was our first time there, they took the time to walk us through some of the best items on and off the menu, and shared their favorite dishes. Everything was done with care. The restaurant was clean, the bathroom was amazing, and the food was worth every dollar. The short rib was so tender, and the New York strip was seasoned to perfection and cooked medium well just how we like it. The twice-baked potato loaded with bacon, sour cream, chives, and cheese was delicious, and the mac and cheese was so good. I also appreciated that they allowed me to order it without the roasted saltine crackers. I can't wait to visit again!

Definitely a place to be seen and eat well. There's a parking garage but it was full when we got there, so we did valet, which was surprisingly affordable. Service was wonderful. Our server was attentive, helpful, and super knowledgeable about the menu. As for the food, we got: Aguachile de Pescado, which was insane. Super fresh, bright, citrusy, ceviche-like with perfect texture. I would go back just for that. The Hamachi was clean and bright. That avocado sauce tied everything together and gave it some depth without overpowering the fish. The Pork Belly Tostadas were crispy and rich with that smooth avocado mousse and sweet mango salsa balancing it out perfectly. Finally, the bone marrow with steak... so good. I had seen pictures of it before I came and it did not disappoint. The steak was incredibly tender. They bring blue corn tortillas and suggest making a taco with the marrow, steak, and avocado. It's great that way. But honestly, the marrow and steak stand perfectly on their own. Whole experience was excellent. Easily one of my favorite spots in the city now.

Right when we walked in, the staff complained to us that we hadn't called ahead to have a "smaller, special menu" crafted for a large party. To make matters worse, they loudly announced to the whole table right off rip that they wouldn't split checks separately--only an even split. It felt incredibly rude, lazy, and unwelcoming. The irony is that the large group size wasn't even an issue; we staggered our arrivals and the patio was completely empty. The kicker- my brother in law ended up paying the whole tab at the end anyways! so all of that initial laziness & nastiness for NOTHING! Throughout the night, the service felt incredibly rushed and stressed. While we were still eating our appetizers, the busser was aggressively trying to clear our plates because the mains were coming. Our server was very short with us the entire time, which was confusing because the restaurant didn't even have a stressful vibe. She recommended a main dish to me that I really didn't care for, though I will say the salsa was unique and probably the best part of the meal. Shoutout to the one staff member who was actually friendly, but overall, this is not the kind of place where you leave feeling like you had a nice restaurant experience- at least I personally didn't.. Too bad we didn't just go to C&S next door which we always love. Regardless tho, my sister had a blast, but that's entirely because she has a wonderful crew of great friends, not because of Casi Cielo.

Combined with the exceptional service and beautiful ambiance, the experience left a lasting impression and made me want to return for another try. That opportunity came this past Sunday. I originally planned to stop in for a drink and the bread service, but my boyfriend and I ended up ordering the Caesar salad and the Lobster Risotto as well. The bread service was just as amazing as I remembered. My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed the Caesar salad, especially the freshly grated cheese, which he said was incredibly light and airy. As for the Lobster Risotto, it exceeded my expectations in both flavor and portion size. The risotto itself was somewhat mild on its own, but once I mixed in the herb butter, it became absolutely delicious. The lobster itself was very tender and tasty, I loved it. I've officially fallen in love with Marcel and will definitely be adding it to my list of go-to dinner spots. The bread service, ambiance, interior design, and customer service are all outstanding. I truly appreciate supporting businesses that consistently deliver such a high-quality experience.

A moody, retro, classic world where…read morebowties are worn unironically in a setting that could best be described as a boxing gym renovated with industrial touches to become a steakhouse in the 1940s. That world could be anywhere. It could even be in Midtown West Atlanta. Service was impeccable. Servers knew we were celebrating our anniversary and were attentive and helpful when making tough menu choices. Pacing was definitely geared toward fine dining. 40 minutes between starters and entree was a BIT long, but it went by. Steak was wonderful (a porterhouse for 2), cooked to a perfect medium rare with seasoning appropriately calibrated to not overpower. East and west coast oysters were fresh and the Marcel salad to start was underdressed and lacked flavor (I enjoyed how they plopped a mound of bleu cheese on top to mix in; I pushed this aside which my server and I laughed about. He said he'd do the same. Maybe it's a sign). Hot bread service with a spreadable cheese and prosciutto was a nice touch. The French fries are probably the best I've ever had, and the asparagus was asparagus (slightly undersalted if anything). Chocolate cake was impressive in presentation but unremarkable for flavor and consistency. My wife enjoyed her decaf coffee as the best she's had at a restaurant, but her cocktail left something to be desired and was extremely tart. A Mexican coke was perfect enough for me. The pricing here is exorbitant. The price tag isn't necessarily a problem given the caliber of dining experience and ambiance that Marcel provides, but given some of the misses on staple items (namesake salad, "famous" chocolate cake), I'm not sure that value for dollar spent is present. In transparency, our dinner comprised of the above was over $400 with tip, which was aligned with expectations walking in the door. Whether the food stood up to the actual place and pricing is a debate. I lean toward an answer of "almost, but close enough not to be insulted." If a gun was pointed at my head to pick the "best steakhouse" in Atlanta, I'd pick Bones without thinking twice. This place is a close second probably, but places like Nowaks in Sandy Springs, while not the same echelon of formality, might have Marcel beat on flavor and definitely have Marcel beat on value for the dollar. Is Marcel's concept valid and well executed? Yes, without question. Would I want somebody else to pay if I returned? Yes, without question. 4.3/5 stars

The manager on duty tried to make it up to us by comping the lobster but it was more than that. After going back and forth with the server we just wanted the check to leave. Our waiter was incredibly sweet and patient with us, especially since we were a little indecisive and had plenty of questions. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated, clean, and had a really nice atmosphere. I started with the lychee martini, which is easily in my top five lychee martinis I've had. The bread was a little underwhelming, but the butter made up for it. For my entrée, I ordered the wet-aged 16oz ribeye cooked medium, and wow -- it was phenomenal. Crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked, juicy, and served sizzling straight from the skillet. I got the green peppercorn sauce on the side, but honestly, the steak didn't even need it. For my side, I chose the Brussels sprouts with the delicious yuzu drizzle. I also sampled the truffle fries, creamed spinach, and lobster mac and cheese -- all were really good, but the creamed spinach completely stole the show. We arrived using the valet service, which usually makes dinner much more convenient. Unfortunately, this was probably the weakest part of the experience. The valet attendants weren't very welcoming, seemed a bit disorganized, and there was no one to open the door upon arrival. We also had to wait for our valet ticket, and retrieving our car at the end of the evening took much longer than expected. There's definitely room for improvement in this area. Once inside, check-in with the host was smooth, and we were seated on the outdoor patio with a beautiful view on a perfect summer evening. Our server, Jason, was phenomenal. He was attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable about the menu, and had impeccable timing throughout the meal. He truly elevated the experience and is a great asset to the restaurant. I would absolutely request him again on a future visit. For appetizers, I highly recommend the fried Maine lobster tail--it was perfectly fried, well-seasoned, and delicious. The Kobe meatballs were good but didn't quite stand out enough to rave about. For our entrée, we shared the 24-ounce porterhouse with lobster mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts. Everything was well prepared, and we had no complaints about the meal. To drink, I ordered two vodka martinis and the guava vodka spritzer. The martinis were exactly what you'd expect, but the guava vodka spritzer stole the show. It was refreshing, beautifully crafted, and the perfect cocktail for a summer evening on the patio. My significant other enjoyed a glass of wine, and the wine selection appeared to offer plenty of options. One thing that stood out was the manager, Brit, making a point to greet several surrounding tables. We appreciated that level of hospitality and were actually looking forward to complimenting Jason's outstanding service. However, despite making eye contact, our table was completely skipped--no greeting, no smile, no acknowledgment. Combined with the disappointing valet experience, it left us feeling overlooked. While the food was excellent and Jason made our evening memorable, the lack of hospitality from both valet and management would make me think twice before choosing Little Alley over the many other great steakhouses in Atlanta. Jason, however, is the reason this visit ended on a positive note.
