Delicious salad

This was my second time here, and just like the first, it didn't disappoint. The menu switches up the main dishes often, but they keep a few reliable staples that never miss.

In the next installation of my Michelin reviews, this cute neighborhood bar was a lovely meal. I sat outside on the patio and was shielded from the rain that briefly came down. I also love the neighborhood, having been a fan of PERC forever. I like that the menu wasn't too extensive so it wasn't hard for me to pick what to order. I got the sweet potatoes, asparagus, and a specialty green goddess chicken with farro entree. I finished with the rice krispy treat (not pictured) and tried a vodka soda based cocktail. Everything tasted great and the servers were friendly/helpful despite managing a busy restaurant. The rice krispy treat definitely tasted home-made and not store bought. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the starters almost tasted too strong in some respects. I would still come back to try other small plates.

So glad I finally got to try out this spot. It's super chill and a great casual dinner spot. We sat on the patio! Definitely recommend for a nice day. They have a daily menu that changes up every so often. They have a fabulous cocktail menu. I got a fig tequila cocktail that was perfect for fall. For food, we got the lamb skewers, buffalo wings and the grilled cheese with tomato soup. You definitely need to get the grilled cheese - trust me! And with the soup - so cozy. They have rotating daily specials and all their sandwiches look amazing.

Love this place! We shared small plates, and the sweet potatoes are to die for! Cute atmosphere, great service, lots of gluten free options, reasonable prices, and free parking. What more can you ask for? This is in the rotation as a "go to" place for a dinner out!

Grilled cheese & fries

Came in super early on a Friday night around 5 before anyone else. By the time we left around 8, it was a packed house! I'm glad we came early, it helped with finding parking too (street parking and there's a lot behind it) We ordered a bunch of small plates for our group of three - chicken, mushroom and shrimp skewers. All yummy with good flavor, just a bit disappointed at the portion size. The peanut noodles were refreshing and spicy. Ricotta dip with bread was a crowd favorite, the bread being grilled added smokiness which I enjoyed. Brussels were fine (par for the course, not phenomenal but not bad by any means). The grilled cheese was delish, the bread it's on was super crusty. We also ordered the fizzy gin carafe to share among the three of us- we each got about two glasses and it only cost us 12$ per person, pretty worth. Service was great- we were there for almost 3 hours and they came and checked on us in reasonable intervals. Will definitely be back!

Bartenders are friendly, food is seasonal and super yummy, and the vibe is super chill. Great spot to hit before a night out or a cool spot to come to when your night is winding down. Just a heads up that they often times run out of their best dishes. For example, the chicken pate - never got to try it because so many people ordered it before I did. Next time! Word to the wise - always get a steak skewer or 2. Delish! Def a neighborhood gem. You won't be disappointed if you check this place out. Do it!

Peanut cold noodles

Poor Hendrix is a really nice spot for a late night bite to eat. You can get anything from classic Buffalo wings, or something totally different like trout skins and spicy peanut cold noodles. Can't go wrong with either! Definitely will be coming back for more in the near future. Also, the service here is always friendly and attentive. Not to mention, the whole place has a cozy vibe to it in general. Feels like a nice place to just unwind after a long day, and have a bite of amazing food. You don't even need to drink, either. I come in just for the food!

An Open Letter To The Owners: This email could not wait. I stopped into your establishment tonight and I can't say enough how much my cousin and I enjoyed ourselves. From the atmosphere, to the food, to the service. Bravo. We walked away talking about the food and even making a point to note that we must come back tomorrow for dessert and a drink to celebrate my cousins birthday. That grilled cheese is not just any old grilled cheese but an elevated experience, maybe a little dramatic but maybe even tear inducing. I walked away noting that this was comfort food done well and I felt comfortable and welcome. Brandon was a gem and he was extremely attentive. I don't normally give 5 star reviews because well it my first visit and I like to go a second time to make sure it wasn't a fluke. You DESERVE .

It gives neighborhood hole-in-the-wall vibes, but with a very elevated and considered menu. Love this place!

The hightop tables were a bit too high for us, but the other traditional seating was great with a candle at every table. We ordered all types of things. The ambiance is classy while not being stuffy, with business casual dress code. All of the staff were welcoming and kind to us, from the hostess to our waitress to the food runners. We shared several tapas: paella verduras, Pulpo parrilla (grilled octopus), Pan con tomate, empanadas with beef, Calamares fritos (calamari) , Espárragos (asparagus), and Patatas bravas. Everything was absolutely delicious! One of my favorite items of the night was the bread with tomato (pan con tomate)! The bread was toasted perfectly and came with garlic and grated tomato to spread on it, along with a sprinkling of greens. My typical favorite at Spanish restaurants (patatas bravas) was done very well here too, with the right crunch and tasty sauces. The perfectly tender octopus came with a side of beans that I wished to ask for the recipe for because they were seasoned so nicely! The calamari was breaded lightly which allowed the natural flavors to shine. The beef empanadas were juicy and crisp. The asparagus was cooked to perfection. The vegetable paella was also filling and wonderful! We ended our meal with the toffee butter cake which was an absolute dream. We look forward to coming back for more!

Without asking, the tatted up dude bartender (I'm horrible with names) went and asked if he could pop open another option. Owners agreed and boom, we were tasting this glorious option. Wifey loved it. My choice of drink at a wine bar was an old fashion. The other bartender (super chill chica) whipped up a great citrus tasting version. Loved it. Loved the design of this place. Super cool use of mirrors to make it feel more grand than the size (which was already very open). Very cool overall feel here. I can't say enough about the people and drink choices. Already planning on a round two soon.

We started with a lovely cheese board for the table, which was delicious and fresh. Paired with that we of course split a bottle of wine at the recommendation of the staff - we absolutely loved the pick! For the main I had the gnocchi, which was absolutely fantastic. I was so full but managed to scrape down the whole thing because of how light the gnocchi was and how delicious the sauce was. All 3 of us agreed this is the kind of place we want to come back over and over so we can try everything! 10/10 from me! Just note, parking wise, there's a tiny tiny lot, but I street parked around the corner. This area is notoriously a little harder for parking so just give yourself some extra time!

Our waiter was pleasant, attentive, and genuinely tried -- so none of this reflects on him. We tip regularly, and we still did, because the issues we experienced felt more like management and kitchen pacing, not server error. The biggest problem was the timing of the food, and it was honestly awful. Our soups and appetizer came out almost at the same time, which I could have overlooked -- but then the entrée was dropped on the table immediately after the soup, with no pacing at all. It wasn't even our waiter bringing the food; it was other staff members just setting plates down without checking where we were in the meal. Because my entrée was seafood, it cooled down quickly while I tried to finish the earlier courses. Then the scallops came out undercooked, partially clear in the center. When I mentioned it, the waiter said it's a common complaint because they don't cook them long or they fall apart. He took them back, and they came out more cooked -- still not great, but at least edible. The dish itself (with black bean hummus, corn, and avocado) wasn't worth the price. The corn tasted like cold canned corn, and overall the entrée just didn't feel special. My husband had the spinach, chicken, and bacon salad and enjoyed it. Both soups -- tomato basil and butternut squash -- were delicious. The brie rosemary dip was just okay. There were a few flies around the table, which was annoying, and the inside is a bit dark, so more lighting would help. I can see myself coming back to try more soups, salads, appetizers, and burgers here, but I'll avoid the dinner entrées unless reviews become more consistently positive. There's definitely room for improvement, especially with pacing and kitchen execution.

There's a parking garage but it was full when we got there, so we did valet, which was surprisingly affordable. Service was wonderful. Our server was attentive, helpful, and super knowledgeable about the menu. As for the food, we got: Aguachile de Pescado, which was insane. Super fresh, bright, citrusy, ceviche-like with perfect texture. I would go back just for that. The Hamachi was clean and bright. That avocado sauce tied everything together and gave it some depth without overpowering the fish. The Pork Belly Tostadas were crispy and rich with that smooth avocado mousse and sweet mango salsa balancing it out perfectly. Finally, the bone marrow with steak... so good. I had seen pictures of it before I came and it did not disappoint. The steak was incredibly tender. They bring blue corn tortillas and suggest making a taco with the marrow, steak, and avocado. It's great that way. But honestly, the marrow and steak stand perfectly on their own. Whole experience was excellent. Easily one of my favorite spots in the city now.

Right when we walked in, the staff complained to us that we hadn't called ahead to have a "smaller, special menu" crafted for a large party. To make matters worse, they loudly announced to the whole table right off rip that they wouldn't split checks separately--only an even split. It felt incredibly rude, lazy, and unwelcoming. The irony is that the large group size wasn't even an issue; we staggered our arrivals and the patio was completely empty. The kicker- my brother in law ended up paying the whole tab at the end anyways! so all of that initial laziness & nastiness for NOTHING! Throughout the night, the service felt incredibly rushed and stressed. While we were still eating our appetizers, the busser was aggressively trying to clear our plates because the mains were coming. Our server was very short with us the entire time, which was confusing because the restaurant didn't even have a stressful vibe. She recommended a main dish to me that I really didn't care for, though I will say the salsa was unique and probably the best part of the meal. Shoutout to the one staff member who was actually friendly, but overall, this is not the kind of place where you leave feeling like you had a nice restaurant experience- at least I personally didn't.. Too bad we didn't just go to C&S next door which we always love. Regardless tho, my sister had a blast, but that's entirely because she has a wonderful crew of great friends, not because of Casi Cielo.

After our drinks arrived, it took more than 45 minutes for the food to come out. The food itself was delicious. We had the half chicken and the trout. The ingredient quality is high, you can really taste it. However, the wait time was a bit too long, especially considering how empty the restaurant was. Aside from the long wait, everything else was good. I wonder if the delay was because we came shortly after they opened for lunch, but if they're open, the kitchen should be ready. Overall, the food is quite good, though the entree menu is somewhat limited, if excluding the pasta. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth trying. Personally, I'm not sure if I would come back. I'd rather not experience that long wait again, but maybe it was just an off day when I visited.
