Both were good, but the pancakes were definitely the standout. The brisket melt was enjoyable, but it was a little one-note. Adding the pickles that came on the side helped brighten it up, but it wasn't anything particularly memorable. I'd definitely order the pancakes again. My cinnamon latte was also really good, and the biscuit was solid. The service was a little slow, despite the restaurant not being very busy. Visited because my daughter flew in from Texas and wanted to try it. Definitely an iconic restaurant in an old area of Atlanta. We arrived sometime after 9 and many people were waiting outside for a table. They don't take reservations. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not very big inside the restaurant but they do have a somewhat large outside patio covered and with fans everywhere. It wasn't too bad with the extreme heat and humidity outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was attentive to us and our needs. We enjoyed our meals completely. The breakfast chicken sausage was delicious as were our pancakes. The latte with lavender was something my daughter had read during her research and people said it was delicious as it is not on the menu. I love this part I've been there many times but many years ago. I came back for a slow weekday brunch with a friend. The food is amazing. We had the brisket quesadilla and the special Reuben sandwich. Both the dishes were well cooked and flavored. They have a small parking lot so plan ahead if you're coming on a busy morning. Crispy flavorful bacon, and moist chicken breast seasoned just right for a breakfast protein. The gravy was delicious and paired well with the flaky biscuit. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious. The sausage patty was huge and seasoned. The eggs were cooked well (we had fried and scrambled). Overall the food was AMAZING. Service: BLAKE (sp) was also an awesome addition to our brunch journey. He was witty and fast and gave great recommendations. He also was patient as we had several questions since it was our first time here. Ria's is a very popular little restaurant across from Oakland Cemetery on Memorial Dr. I have tried just about everything on their menu and I haven't had anything that isn't perfect. It would take several paragraphs to describe each item that I have tried from the menu so I would just suggest working your way through it as you visit. I am so happy I decided to eat here during a conference in Atlanta. My hotel was a 20 minute drive but something told me it would be worth the trip. I also am thrilled I did this on a Monday because after falling for their food, I learned that they are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday so it was my only chance to try it before I fly home. This is to say: don't hesitate or you will miss out! The early bird special (no substitutions) was vegetarian friendly and a great amount of tasty food. We got the eggs scrambled medium and they were perfect. The fruit was fresh, the biscuit was tasty with the jam on the table. I would have liked some grits but wanted to be a bit more balanced. Side of kale rounded all of it out. And a delicious lavender latte to top it all off. The melt and the pancakes were delicious. The eggs were pretty standard, but the gravy was good. The portion sizes were large, and the cost wasn't too high. All in all, a wonderful breakfast. Two comments that I would have are that we felt like the kale didn't really add anything to the dish. It wasn't super seasoned and it was just there as a side to the melt. Also, I felt like the service took a lot longer than expected. The waiter was nice and polite, but it took a while for us to order and to receive food. I came here with 5 people on a Sunday morning and we got seated within about 30 minutes which I thought was reasonable given how small it is and how busy they were! The first thing that drew me here was the fact that the New York Times voted them "the world's best pancakes." And in my opinion, they live up to the title. We didn't get a chance to have brunch at Ria's last time we were in Atlanta, so this time we made sure to after getting it recommended to us by strangers we met at the Freedom Farmer's Market. We came on a Sunday, and though there was a sizable crowd outside, we waited ~10-15 minutes. Not bad. We were promptly seated at the counter. We ordered the brisket quesadilla, a short stack of their famous pancakes, and the country-fried tempeh. This was one of the better brunches I've had in a while; the pancakes were perfectly fluffy and paired well with their homemade jam. The brisket quesadilla was generously packed with brisket, which was nice and tender. I liked my vegan entree, but thought that it would benefit from a wee bit more seasoning. The tempeh was fried perfectly, but the gravy, biscuit, and bed of cherry tomatoes and kale might've benefited from some garlic, alliums, nooch, etc. I would come again, and would especially recommend this place to folks who are vegetarian/vegan. read more

This is my first comeback, and I only had Buttermilk Pancakes, aka "the world's best pancakes"- NY Times as stamped on the menu. Last time, I did not know there were tables at the side/backyard, which is very cool. They had Halloween decorations. The vibe in this area is different from my first experience so I'm in love with it. People are so great, fun, and always smiling. The pancakes are qualified for the good ones, such as the butter cover is manageable, and the sweetness is just strong enough so I can put more syrup. They are still warm. I can still taste the natural flavor, and they are, of course, fluffy enough. I don't know much about the best one, but in my experience, this is not the best that I ever had, especially when I was so excited with such a spoiler alert, "the world's best pancakes." Such a gem. I love the ambiance of this place. There was a dresser / drawer as soon as you walk in and it's such a statement piece. I ordered the special omelet they had with mushroom, cheese, and bacon. I'm not a fan of omelets but this one was delicious. It also came with two sides so I ordered more bacon and potatoes. It was definitely more than enough. My friend and I stayed here for more than 90 minutes just catching up and we didn't feel rushed to go. We did get here around 9 and it wasn't busy. Def got busy towards 11, so a heads up. My friend also got the pancakes and it was the best pancakes I've ever had. I also don't like syrup much but this one was perfect. Usually packed on weekends...parking is limited but you can park nearby. Ordered the brisket that's a "14-hour slow-roasted Angus beef, shredded in its own spicy tomato broth, with two eggs poached and toasted baguette". YES it's very tasty!! My friend and I also got a burrito to split and though it felt like a lunch meets breakfast kinda burrito it was still good.
