Suffolk (Scottish Style Lox)
Vivian L.

A solid bagel spot located in East Atlanta Village, where it feels like a corner of NYC. Walking in, it's like youre in a diner from Wizard of Oz. The workers are friendly, giving me some good suggestions, and I had a kind interaction when picking up my food :) It's a small space with no seating inside except 4 chairs by the window, and there are 4 tables out in front (and 2 tables in the back toward the bathrooms) but it is a charming little place! There is a parking lot in the back, if you can't find street parking in the front. I ordered the Suffolk (lox) with garlic herb cream cheese, which came out to be $17.15 before tip. You are able to taste test the cream cheese before you order! The bagel itself had kind of a tough-chewy texture, and I felt like it was skimp on the lox. It was still good though but the price was quite steep for what it was.

The Nassau and an iced coffee

Food: stellar Service: friendly and efficient Ambiance: clean and charming This is a delicious and authentic bagel shop placed right on the beltline. Perfect for catching breakfast in the morning and then going on a pleasant stroll. I had The Nassau and throughly enjoyed it. This place was busy at 11am on a Saturday l, but we go through the line and received our food in a reasonable time even with a crowd. Seating is outside and limited. So prepare to possibly share a table with someone or just not get a table. Other than that, this place is a gem that I'd happily go back to eat.

We got lost on our way to Krog food hall and we stumbled across This adorable bagel shop. The inside is so retro and the décor is charming. They have a nice variety of bagels and we tried the pretzel one with regular OG cream cheese. You can just get your bagel with schmear or you can get a sandwich with eggs and bacon or lox . The bagel was tasted fresh and they made it super quick. There is only places to sit outside. There is apartments all around that area, even on top of the bagel shop. I know if I lived in one of those apartments I would get a bagel from emerald city everyday. Check it out on your next trip to Atlanta.

Cute little small bagel shop along the Beltline. Friendly staff. Expected prices for the Beltline (so think $$). Only outdoor seating available. Fairly quick service. Although there's a sign that clearly says NO DOGS ALLOWED on the door, still a few customers came in with their dogs. Small dogs, but dogs nonetheless. The staff didn't care to enforce it. They (the staff) even chatted about how cute the dogs were to the customers. Considering how tight the space is, if you're not a dog lover or someone who doesn't like dogs in food spaces, this may be something to watch out for. As far as the actual bagel sandwiches, they were good and stuffed well with the ingredients.

Chopped Cheese

These are so good. Several members of my team love Emerald City and I had a chance to sample them recently. They are truly delicious. There was a little spice to this chopped cheese sandwich and the bagel was soft and substantial. I recommend them for a delicious breakfast sandwich.

Rosemary sea salt bagel with green olive & pimento cream cheese
Kyja W.

My coworker picked up bagels for us from here a couple of days ago and I was blown away. I chose the rosemary sea salt with olive oil bagel and smeared the green olive & pimento cream cheese on top after toasting it. It was absolutely delicious! I would've used more schmear, but since we were sharing, I didn't want to take too much! While I love Einstein's, it was a nice change to have bagels from somewhere local that offered unique flavors in addition to classics. I loved this combo and can't wait to try more!

Jalapeño Bagel and egg with avocado
Michael W.

I wanted to have a quick meal before the Saturday Basketball game for my students and I knew this spot was nearby so I tried it was pricey but had a great feel about it based on the location and the look inside, but I ordered the jalapeño bagel with egg and cheese, but I had to get my avocado on the side "They Don't Put Hot on Cold I was told ‍" so I went to my car and was about to eat because it was so packed as I bit into my sandwich and after second bite hair was in it. I took it back and they refunded it and I didn't make it an issue just made my experience less than stellar, I probably try again because I get that can happen anywhere but hey it happened ‍ ‍ .

After seeing so many incredible reviews of Emerald City Bagel, I decided to drive 30 minutes here (and 30 minutes back). The staff is great and I was greeted by the owner as I came in the back, for a second I thought I was coming through the wrong entrance. You can either come in the front or rear doors, which have an upstairs balcony. The inside of Emerald City Bagel looks like it would be in Manhattan or Chicago. When placing my order. I told the employee I heard so much about their incredible bagels, and asked "What makes your bagels so great?" his response was "They are made fresh daily" --- not exactly what I was expecting, but okay. They did not have any poppy seed bagels, which was a big disappointment. Their bagels are priced at $2.50 each. Just for comparison, the best bagel places in Chicago and NYC charge around $1.50 to $2 per bagel. Moving forward, because they didn't have any Poppy's, I went with three of the classic everything bagels and got a tub of their garlic herb cream cheese. Overall, their cream cheese is outstanding. The bagels, however, in my honest opinion are nothing spectacular. I have been making bagels myself and must say, my bagels are better. I can only speak based on their "everything" bagels, and they were extremely salty, very hard, and not chewy like an authentic bagel is supposed to be. The outside should have that nice shine, and when you bite into a bagel it should be soft and very chewy when eating it without being toasted. I will say the weight of their bagels is very consistent. Two were 108g and one was 107g. I will say $30 for a baker's dozen though is insane. So far the best bagels in Atlanta are still the Dekalb Farmers market. They are typically around 142g in weight and cost just $1.05 each and are made of all organic flours. Not too airy, not too dense, excellent chew. My final thought is if you are going to charge a premium price on a bagel, it better darn well be outstanding. I'll come here for their cream cheese spreads if in the area, but will skip the bagels. [Review #704] (2nd Review of 2024)

Bacon egg and cheddar on everything bagel

I love this place. It's my go to breakfast spot for something fast and delicious. If you're a bagel lover then you're gonna love this place. You can get anything and any variety that you want. I also love the coffee. I'm an iced coffee drinker and the coffee is great. The people working are really nice and friendly. They work hard and you can tell because it's a well run shop. I've been here plenty of times and never had a bad experience. The ambiance is great. Small shop vibes so if the outdoor seating is taken, that's just the way it is. It's not really a lounge around type place. More of a grab and go situation. Overall I love it. I'll have to try more of the menu as time goes on and report back.

Went on a late Saturday morning and this place was poppin'! The line went through the door but it moved pretty quickly. I got the Eggy Pop on a poppy bagel and my friend got the Veg. Each sandwich was super delicious and I totally understand how this place came so highly rated. I was particularly a big fan of the veggie combination and have a newfound love for watermelon radish now. There is parking at the back of the building and along the streets. It's a small place so you'd be lucky to catch a seat here, your best bet is finding elsewhere to sit down and eat! Can't wait to come visit again!

Emerald city bagels is the gem of EAV, stopped by here for a brunch on a busy monday morning. Even though the shop was packed we only had to wait for 5-6 minutes. Love their collection of bagels and toppings. We got all different kinds and were not disappointed. The only thing was they forgot to toast our bagels I'd blame it on the rush. The quality was exceptional and service was fast. It is Diner/Atl themed with some up-cycled Marta seats in the cafe. Seating is limited but they have both indoor and outdoor. There is free street parking and some garage near by. You can bring your fur baby here and enjoy the outdoor seating. I highly recommend it for bagel lovers or someone looking to get brunch. Their coffee is also amazing!

Been trying to find some great bagel places in ATL & this one is my favorite (i've tried quite a few) The bagels are made fresh daily & you can tell the moment you bite into it! they lather it with a great amount of cream cheese so it isn't dry but also not tooooo messy!!! Never been a Lox bagel type of person but wanted to try it and it was DELICIOUS! The inside is so cute (especially if you like the Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, and or Wicked ) Didn't get the person names who took our order (petite Black woman with braids & amazing skin!!!) she was sweet and explained how the bagels are prepped and gave us great suggestions

It's light years ahead of J Christopher's, White Hall, First Watch, you game it. Now you won't get a fancy coffee or Instagram able photo, but you'll get solid food. I've been eating here for years and genuinely crave it about every three weeks...it's that good. You really can't go wrong. Portions are generous especially for the price, service is consistently solid (though wait times can vary, it's popular!), and with so many locations you can usually find one nearby. They're also great about modifying cooking oils for those of us who prefer olive oil or other healthier options. My go-to is an omelette or the nova scramble, with home fries -- big, crispy potato chunks with sautéed peppers and onions -- plus a side of toast, English muffin, or bagel (or swap for salad or fruit). My husband swears by their latkes, too. Classic, satisfying, and a total win for brunch lovers.

The sea salt on top was chef's kiss. The lines move pretty fast. There's nowhere to sit and lounge, so you would need to take these pastries elsewhere to enjoy. The staff is also really nice and patient when my friend and I were trying to decide on pastries. Overall, I think these pastries would do good in an air fryer/oven. I would come back, but bring the pastries home to warm and crisp them up a bit. I also really want to try their burger which is only sold on the weekend at certain times!

I was told to get here by 12:30pm because they serve the burgers at 1pm and the line gets long and they run out. Found out later in line from the person in front of me that they make 130-170 burgers and they sell them all. That's a lot of burgers. I thought it was all hype because I got there at 12:20pm and there was no line. I went in and asked to make sure this was the right place, the guy said to wait outside, they start selling it at 1pm. I was 1st in line. Waited 5 mins then went to my car to get my headphones. By the time I came back, 3 people were now in front of me. I guess the 12:30pm recommendation was valid. By 12:35pm there were 20 people behind me. I do not like waiting, so I'm glad I was early to at least be served 1st. Never been here before, they are busy. When I got here, it was packed with people buying bread and pastries inside. I didn't get to buy the sourdough bread. It was sold out. Apparently, the locals come every Sunday for this burger. I guess they hang a burger flag out when it's burger time some of the people in the line in front of me felt a way that they didn't do that this time. I guess they're getting comfortable and just trying to knock the rush/crowd out. I think coming at one would be fine if they're selling 170 burgers I think the problem is they don't limit the amount of burgers you can buy. At least I don't think so. Now for this burger. Not worth it. Not worth the wait or the hype. I'm still surprised how basic tasted. They need a housemate sauce or something on it. It's literally just one burger and pickles. If it was pack full of flavor and well seasoned, that would be enough. But it's not. The best part about it is the bun. And 30mins after eating the burger, I didn't feel so good. My stomach started hurting, and that was the only thing I ate all day. I avoid eating beef altogether, but I will here and there as of late. My boyfriend eats beef, but he started feeling sick maybe an hour later as well. I was disappointed because I didn't know they pre-make the burgers and just throw them in the bag. You can't customize it or anything. I think we got sick because the burgers were medium. They were not cooked well, and I always get beef burgers cooked all the way through. The way they're rushing you out of there like an express assembly line is crazy. I really wanted to wait to ask them to prepare me two, made well since they were making burgers as they were going along, I believe. I would have waited to have them made well but the way they were rushing you out, it just wasn't the place to ask for anything extra or additional and I don't like places like that. Too strict too many rules and you don't feel comfortable. Even though you're spending $70 on 2 burgers and some pastries. Compared to a pack of ground beef to make your own burgers, this is a lot. I bought two burgers $17 each, and 5 pastries to try because I won't be coming back here anytime soon. I will say, great pastry selection. I was talking to a guy in line and I asked him if he ever had the kouign amann. It looked good. He said yes, it was good, and the chocolate kouign amann, he's going to try as well. I purchased a chocolate kouign amann, a regular kouign amann, cardamom bun, a hazelnut bun, and monkey bread. I wrote everything down outside that I was going to buy so I didn't waste any time. I already spotted the monkey bread when I walked in. The woman packaging up the food was about to fix her face to say they didn't have any monkey bread, when they were clearly at the other end. Maybe that was her doing me a favor because I was highly disappointed in the monkey bread. I'm on a monkey bread kick, and I have been trying it at a lot of places. This one was not good. They sprinkle lemon zest on it, which kind of threw me off, and the bread itself was very dry even after warming it up, adding melted butter and honey. It still was not good. The best thing was the original kouign amann. The chocolate one was not good because they have chocolate on the inside kind of like moose or ganache, but it was overwhelming. It tasted like dark cocoa chocolate, and I thought the pastry was dark because the whole thing was chocolate, but it actually was burnt. A lot of the items looked burnt to be honest. I think the demand is getting to this place. The cardamom bun was just ok. The hazelnut bun was just an extension of the monkey bread to me. Not a fan. I remember growing up, we went to the local butcher and bakery to get fresh meat, bread, and pastries for cheap. I like the idea of a local bakery and butcher shop like this, but this place is not cheap. I'd skip this one.

Hate to say it but this is why many southerners are lowkey pissed with the massive migration of northerners down here... I got the Standard (Bacon, Egg, Cheddar) on a rosemary salt bagel. While the bagel was tasty, the inside of the sandwich was not. Limp, soggy bacon. Cheap, McDonald's style egg patty. This sandwich should be $6 at most. The bagel itself was delicious and very well done -- this is clearly where they are putting in the effort and I have no qualms with it. But next time I'd just get the bagel by itself and skip paying more for what felt like not-so-great ingredients. I also got a chai latte with oat milk. Well made, but surely nothing spectacular. Holy cow... $6+ for that, too. Oat milk is an extra $.70. I don't know whether to be disgruntled with the owner or the local/federal taxes that has places charging like this LOL. It honestly just feels excessive, especially for the area it's in (love you Chamblee but I love you especially because you're affordable and not built around pretentiousness). Service was nice and it was clean when I went in. Perhaps the lunch sandwiches are more worth it? I am all here for spending a pretty penny on food but I am lost on this one.
