Chamblee is really killing it these days. I dropped Loretta at the vet for some scans so I looked around for a local breakfast place and noticed the BBB getting some great reviews. They have a great parking lot but my GPS had me going in the wrong way so I circled the block one before arriving. The interior is cozy but there are plenty of tables. I sat by the door to eat in but I sat next to where the to go orders are picked up. It was busy. I went for a very basic breakfast of a toasted everything bagel with butter and cream cheese and a coffee. The bagel was soft yet crunchy and the toppings delicious. Regular drip coffee was good too. Whewww, I canNOT believe America has arrived at normalizing paying $20 for basic breakfast fare. The world is changing and I've clearly been under a rock, as I don't normally eat breakfast. But I was out and about early in the morning and decided to stop by here right as they were opening. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad. But I definitely had a moment where I had to ask myself if that was a $20 well spent. Bronx Bagel Buggy is a SMALL deli in a middle-American Atlanta neighborhood that might still think it's in NYC. Hate to say it but this is why many southerners are lowkey pissed with the massive migration of northerners down here... I got the Standard (Bacon, Egg, Cheddar) on a rosemary salt bagel. While the bagel was tasty, the inside of the sandwich was not. Limp, soggy bacon. Cheap, McDonald's style egg patty. This sandwich should be $6 at most. The bagel itself was delicious and very well done -- this is clearly where they are putting in the effort and I have no qualms with it. But next time I'd just get the bagel by itself and skip paying more for what felt like not-so-great ingredients. I also got a chai latte with oat milk. Well made, but surely nothing spectacular. Holy cow... $6+ for that, too. Oat milk is an extra $.70. I don't know whether to be disgruntled with the owner or the local/federal taxes that has places charging like this LOL. It honestly just feels excessive, especially for the area it's in (love you Chamblee but I love you especially because you're affordable and not built around pretentiousness). I originally saw this in a TikTok video, and when I realized it wasn't far from my job I just had to stop in on my lunch break. And I think I might have found another gem y'all. Let's get into it! Location and Parking They're located in Downtown Chamblee in a small plaza with some other shops. The parking lot is small and can be a little tight, but there is plenty of free parking along the street. Venue and Atmosphere Now they're a small establishment, with just a few tables that will get filled quickly so if you want to sit down you should probably get there not too long after they open, which is what we did. They also have free wifi which makes for a good co-working space. It feels very New York so they definitely accomplished that goal. There was a consistent line of people buzzing in and out, and honestly that boosted my confidence level. Food and drinks Now by the time I came here for lunch a lot of the bagels were already sold out. One of the things that I was drawn to was the case that showed all of the different types of cream cheese that they have. From the savory to the sweet, which I thought was really cool. I decided to start with my go to, which is a BE&C on a cinnamon bagel. A smash hit. I took my first bite in the car and barely had any left by the time I made it back to work. I didn't get a drink this day, but I briefly glanced at their selection and it seems substantial. Service Staff was friendly, they allowed me to stare at the menu from an absurdly long time and didn't judge. Bagel came up in standard time, so no worries there. Another bagel gem in NE Atlanta! Located in Downtown Chamblee, there is a small parking lot and plenty of free parking along the street. Bronx Bagel Buggy is a small establishment; they have seating and free wifi but you have to get there early. There was a consistent line of customers, and they were buzzing with online orders as well. Lots of bagels sold out quickly so if you're attached to a particular flavor, place your order online! The Nova lox sandwich was delicious. I wasn't in the mood for coffee so I had a bottle of fresh squeezed orange juice to go with it. The garlic bagel was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and tasted delicious. They also sell many flavors of homemade cream cheese, as well as deli staples like half sour pickles. This is a cool and unique place. I stopped by and got an egg and cheese on a plain bagel. I did this so I could add strawberry cream cheese to the top half of the bagel. The buzz, the chatter, the quick pace; it's all part of the charm. The decor leans a bit gimmicky with everyone in fedoras, which honestly made me roll my eyes a bit. It's cute, but not really necessary when the food can speak for itself, and it does. The bagels are legit. Lightly crisp on the outside, soft and chewy inside, and they've got flavors you don't often see, like pumpernickel everything, which I hadn't had in years. Bronx Bagel Buggy is an adorable spot to get some breakfast in Chamblee! I have been hearing about it for so long and was excited to get out there and try it. We went around 10AM on the Wednesday before the 4th of July and this place was packed! The would be my biggest con to this place as it is TINY! Like 3 2-top tables max and there is no room for sitting around inside. Once you're in there though they have a good menu! I opted for a classic bacon egg and cheese and got a bagel to go with scallion cream cheese. Overall, I enjoyed my bagels! My only complaint is that they are are defintely smaller than other local bagel joints BUT it still was delicious! You can find Bronx Bagel Buggy at 5494 Peachtree Rd Chamblee, GA 30341. It's in a row of buildings facing Peachtree Rd where Rust-n-Dust used to anchor on the corner (around the corner to the right and behind the row is Contrast Artisan Ales and around the left is Chamblee Tap and Market - both also worth visiting). Parking in this area is hit-or-miss - there's a lot of parking on the streets and in front of buildings but frankly there isn't enough so you may need to walk a bit (why I suggest you take a look at the nearby pubs nearby). I consider this one of those hidden gems you hear about but as the actual storefront is small and rather buried, need to make some effort to visit. These are classic New York style bagels, both boiled and baked so they have the perfect chew. I've now eaten there a handful of times and it's become my favorite bagel joint. The Reuben bagel sandwich is filling and delicious and any of the bagels are worthwhile if you want something lighter. Try the egg bagel if they have them for something unusual that you don't normally see in Atlanta. Service is terrific but more fast-casual or classic counter-service than something you'd find someplace fancier. Expect to find a line so better to get there earlier rather than later - also they can run out of your favorites - lots of carryout here. I'd suggest trying the online ordering option and just drop by for a pick-up. read more

This was my favorite bagel place in the metro after 20+ years of poor quality bagels at all the trendy spots the foodies kept talking about. That all changed today. Today Bronx Bagel Buggy became just another badly managed bagel place in Atlanta to go along with all the other badly managed bagel places in Atlanta. Today I showed up and they were busy, which I expected because it's the day before Thanksgiving. But I had a simple order, so I didn't mind the line. When I ordered, I was asked if I wanted any of the 4 bagels I ordered sliced or toasted. I did not. I asked if a specific bagel was still available because I thought I saw one in the basket. I was told it was. So I ordered 4 untoasted, unsliced bagels that I could clearly see in their baskets. I also order a 4oz container of whitefish salad. This is the point where everything started to go wrong. Apparently, the customers who come to the business in person to place their orders are not seen as a priority. And things are not what they seem to be. I heard orders called out for people who were not inside or outside waiting. I watched people who had ordered online get their orders before those literally standing and waiting. I watched food delivery drivers show up and get their orders before the people actually standing there. Then it got worse. The lady who ordered immediately before me was told her order was ready, but they were out of one particular bagel so she would need to choose another one. At this point, I'd been waiting 20 minutes for 4 untoasted unsliced bagels and a side of whitefish salad. I was finally acknowledged and asked my name. They had to find the ticket first, so after 20 minutes they had not even started what I had thought was a simple order, but apparently was not. Now they were out of one of the bagels that I had seen and pointed to. Apparently, their POS system does not have the capability of putting items on a count so that as you sell them, the system itself will alert the cashier when there is no more of a particular item. So as I considered what replacement I wanted for the bagel they were out of, I was told they also did not have the whitefish salad, but they were making it "right now." 20+ minutes AFTER it was ordered, they were making it. So I got a refund and I could have taken the bagels they did have (they were offered to me), but by that time I really didn't care. I will not be back. And I really, really loved the bagels from here, but no bagel in the world is worth knowing the time I took to drive there, stand in line to order and be told what I'd ordered was available, then wait just to be ignored in favor of online and delivery app orders only to find out they were out of almost half what should have been a quick, easy order was not appreciated by the business. And Bronx Bagel Buggy has not only lost the money I would have spent today and on future visits--they've also lost all the goodwill that had me recommending them to everyone as "the best bagels in the Atlanta metro," because sadly, they are just another bagel place like all the other bagel places that prioritize the chaos of quantity over quality. read more

He even went back to check on our order for us. The line wasn't as long that early. Not much seating inside, and a few tables outside. I always get a toasted everything bagel with raspberry jalapeño cream cheese. Always delicious and packed with cream cheese. Their bagels and cream cheese are just so good. The Bronx Bagel Buggy does NOT disappoint! I initially found reviews for this place online and when arriving, the line was out the door! Even through there were a lot of people, the line moved quickly and the food came out even faster. I heard it's one of few places in the area to get a real New York style bagel and it was heavenly! I ended up ordering The Standard breakfast sandwich with turkey sausage. Food was hot and delicious! The egg was cooked to perfection and the bagel was incredible. To me, the true star was the staff! They are personable, helpful, and kind, enduring that everyone who walks through their doors feels at home and taken care of. Despite the not so great reviews, the hubs and I wanted to try this spot for ourselves. Yes, the shop is a bit small, but the food, price, and friendliness far out weighs everything else. Asiago bagel with a honey siracha spread: The bagel was super chewy! The asiago is a must try for its chewiness. Plus, the cheese. It must be the cheese. Lol. Did I mention I love cheese?! The siracha portion of the spread was super faint. The honey part was stronger and what comes through. Rosemary sea salt bagel with a lox spread: Oh man the salt on this bagel. It was a tad over done. This bagel wasn't as chewy, sadly. Was it because it was toasted slightly a little longer? There was no wow effect. The lox spread was super divine though. I learned that back last quarter, they had a true lox option. :( The spread did have lox pieces, but it's not quite the same. But I would definitely recommend this lox spread as it feels heartier. Smoke sausage roll: There was a slight smokiness to the sausage hence the name. The dough covering the sausage was tasty as well. It was a meaty sausage with a jerky ish texture. He hubs said it was delicious. I don't eat meat like that so it was okay imo. The hubs said this place is great with it being local. And he says it's so much better than Einstein's that he often gets at work. I agree. I just think the rosemary sea salt bagel put a damper on the wowing experience. There are no amounts of striped aprons and fedoras that will make me believe that the round pieces of bread you purvey pass as actual bagels. Ordering is a noisy operational nightmare hampered by employees best described as "glacial." Baked goods are middling. Coffee is bitter. Bagels are hard to the feel, lack thickness, and are generally tasteless regardless of seeded topping. No matter how badly I want this place to be good for my convenience and connection to the food of my own people, it's just not. 2/5 because there are no apparent health code violations. read more

Pretty good bagel but not as good as NY bagel. The texture is not as good but definitely good as far as a boutique bagel shop goes. Some of my favorite bagel flavors are the rosemary salt, everything, blueberry, and chocolate chip. When I initially had the Standard, it was way too oily/greasy but have been eyeing their lox that they are experimenting with. However I am definitely not willing to wait in line for an hour like I initially did, in this weather. Like the other reviews, they definitely need to work on efficiency. They need a better system on filling the orders and better help at the register. Spread wise, it's on the fluffy and not as flavorful side but still good. My husband's barbor, who works next door at The Commodore, has raved about the bagels here and we're excited to finally check it out for ourselves this morning. Living in New York during my 20s myself, I was excited for the concept (though a bit bummed the only ingredients local to NY are the seeds, which are from Long Island) We went at ~11am NYE. There was a long line out the door, but it moved relatively quickly. It's a small space, but found the inside charming, full of delicious smells, and overall was a lovely atmosphere. Owner was super friendly and gracious. It's clear the staff is still working through some kinks, but I think some grace should be given as they're brand new and doing their best. Food feedback: - The Standard egg sandwich - egg, cheese, bacon or sausage. We were underwhelmed... we were expecting cream cheese to be on the bagel and were rather disappointed when we got home to find there was none. Egg patty was meh. Everything bagel was ok. - The Ultimate - lox, cream cheese, capers, dill, red onion, tomato. We got it on an onion bagel. Everything was perfect, highly recommend. read more

Food is good, employees are helpful, and so-long as you order online, you can skip the busy store environment. This is not an establishment to take large groups for a brunch mimosa, so don't treat it as such. Bronx Bagel Buggy is a take-out specialty, meant to be enjoyed at a park, or in your house! Dope spot! Love the atmosphere! The bagels were awesome and had cream cheese piled high! They also have an open kitchen, so you can see the bagel being made which is awesome! My only issue was the wait time. It took roughly 25 minutes to get 2 bagels with cream cheese. They got one of our bagels wrong and had to wait about another 5 for that one. If they're able to get the ticket times down then it'll be a solid 4.5 stars and could truly be THAT bagel spot in Chamblee. Chamblee doesn't have a solid bagel spot, so hopefully pop out and show the area what's up. They're only open Thurs-Sun which is a bummer, but hey, maybe that'll change. Would I go here again? It looks like the mediocre reviews were mostly from the first opening month with long lines and likely glitches. That's why I never go to a restaurant when it first opens. Wait for the hype to die down. Remember the lines at Halal Guys? Rosemary sea salt bagel with a lox spread: It was salty. I liked it enough but I had to pick some of the extra salt off the bagels. It was still tasty. Asiago bagel with a honey siracha spread: Chewy and cheesy. This was a good combination. I like sweet and salty flavors combined. The honey siracha spread was great and somewhat unique but had more of a sweet honey flavor and less of the siracha flavor. Smoke sausage roll: I'm comparing this to Buccee's sausage on a stick because it's similar in size and price. This one is so much better. There is a slight smoke and the dough covering the sausage was soft and flaky. Would I come here again? Yes, the bagels are delicious. I do want to try the different bagel varieties. read more

This is a cute shop in heart of Chamblee. It feels like you are in a New York Deli with lots of delicious looking bagels and other baked goods. They serve lunch bagel sandwiches, breakfast bagel sandwiches, Latkes, etc. I got the veggie bagel sandwich on an everything bagel and it was delicious! It was fresh and perfect for a warm summer day. I also got drip coffee with whole milk and coffee woke me up. I kept drinking it even though I am not a big coffee person. The bagels are good, not New York quality, but they're better than average for Atlanta. The hours are somewhat limited, 7am - 2pm, Thursday through Sunday. The service is friendly. It is somewhat unsettling to see a chocolate chip bagel, but the pumpernickel bagel makes up for that. There is a small eating area inside and outside they have a few tables with umbrellas. I love this spot for a bagel! My go-to combo is their cheddar jalapeno bagel with scallion cream cheese. They also get the bagel to cc ratio perfect most of the time (for me at least). The only thing that lacks occasionally is the food preparation. I always order double toasted but sometimes my bagel is just not toasted at all, which is sad because it already has cream cheese on it so it's not like I can just toast it myself :( or they put about a tablespoon of cream cheese instead of the good bit they usually do. These are small inconsistencies that absolutely do not outweigh the overall delicious food or friendly faces there when I go! The owner that takes care of the online orders is so nice to interact with! I have never once had a bad people-experience here.
