He also informed us that food was made from scratch and the ribs were already sold out! Bummer as that would've been a go to choice! The restaurant it self seemed cleaned and a sleek look to it. We chose 2 fried chicken meals and steak and frite. These dishes were to brag about 100%, wish I could've met the head chef and supervisor on shift to let them how wonderful the food was and that the staff have great personality and professional! The atmosphere felt like a casual new age, better, slightly more upscale and elegant version of Applebees, if that makes sense. Homey vibe but elegantly casual? Off rip I ordered a sweet tea which was phenomenal. It tasted like it has a slight peach undertone to it, and it was the right amount of sweet. I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp as my appetizer and the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and brussels (I dont like coleslaw). I was told the bacon wrapped shrimp was a new menu item. For $19? They were cool. The fried chicken was really good. It was still steaming hot inside, when I took my first bite. The chicken was tender and had a good crunch to it. The brussels were okay. I typically like a more sweet glaze on my brussels but they did the job. I liked the mashed potatos, they were a little runny; the gravy made up for that though. I'm not a biscuit person but the biscuit that came with this meal was very soft, fluffy, moist, and had butter throughout. It was a bummer the only choices of hot sauce available were Tabasco and Cholula. I usually like Texas Pete, Crystal, or Louisiana hot sauce in my chicken. This was my first time at this location, second time at a culinary dropout. The first experience was five stars (shout out Franklin, TN). This experience was fair in comparison. We arrived for our reservation, found free parking fairly easy, were seated promptly and checked in on promptly; it's a lovely space in a new area. Our waiter though proceeded to ask if we had questions and walked us through the menu - one of the women in our party shared she had an allergy and he said he could pass it on but was unable to guide in a safe direction. She would just have to ask about each item and he would say yes or no. He also thought mayo was dairy, which is rarely is. When asking for recommendations in general, he had a very hard time. He smiled and engaged but it was not helpful - at one point someone ordered blue cheese dressing he said we don't have that but I sometimes just bring ranch and no one notices. They have a lot of made to scratch items, which gives the diner a very "fresh" from the kitchen dining experience (big win in my book) The group ordered meals ranging from bacon wrapped shrimp to sandwiches to salads. The individual ratings were from 3.5 to 5, with the salads taking the 5s. I personally had a chopped chicken salad and swapped out for normal ranch (instead of bbq ranch). The dressing alone was A+++. You could tell it was made from scratch and was lick-the-bowl-clean tasty. Service was great. Got great suggestion from our server. We ordered the Whipped Feta and Tahini (with grilled strawberry, pistachio, and grilled ciabatta) and it was AMAZING! My boyfriend got the M.A.C burger with fries and ate the whole thing. I enjoyed my food, there was a bit of wait for the salad but it wasn't super long. I placed my card out before I got my salad but had to continue waiting to pay to leave. No one checked on me for my salad (other than someone dining next to me, asking me what I ordered) and no refill for my empty water. Plates were not picked up. Just felt like I was left to fend for myself. Not super offended as a solo bar diner (it was pleasantly busy) but that's what I knocked down my review 1 star. This restaurant is really nice and large and the ambiance on a Tuesday afternoon was great. We started with the marinated olives and they were good. Hubby and I happened to be in the neighborhood and hungry today. Culinary Dropout popped up on Yelp, and the name definitely piqued our interest. We opted to sit on the patio to enjoy this beautiful cool day and were fortunate enough to have Amberlou assigned as our server. We started with the crusty bread & olive oil, which was AH-mazing! Hubby even commented on how it is better than most of the upscale Italian spots we've been to and I have to agree. We also got the pimento cheese, which was delicious but I did find it kind of odd that it wasn't paired with anything like crackers or bread, etc. (note to owners: please consider changing this). We had ordered the crusty bread, so we ate it with that but if we hadn't ordered the bread, I probably would have been disappointed to just have a small serving of the pimento cheese with nothing to put it on. Aside from that, however, everything was really top notch. I ordered the ham & egg grilled cheese, which came with the breakfast potatoes, but I also added a side of the house potato chips because I really wanted to try them and they did not disappoint. The sandwich was tasty and perfectly assembled. I normally don't like breakfast potatoes but these were good and crispy. I think the house potato chips with the fantastic onion dip that comes with it is probably my favorite thing on the menu, but I also loved the famous fried chicken that hubby ordered. My sandwich was solid too, but I think his chicken was better, so obviously I only finished half of my sandwich so that I could steal some of his chicken. LOL The portions of everything were very generous, so sharing was easy and we still had plenty left over to take home with us. Amberlou offered spectacular service! She had a great attitude, was highly attentive without being overbearing, and seemed to anticipate our needs before we even voiced them (I LOVE when my drinks are refilled before I have to ask, which is an underrated server supowerpower imo). We will definitely be back and I will go out of my way to sit in Amberlou's section because she helped to elevate our already wonderful experience even further. The menu options are somewhat limited, but I think this may be why the food is so good. Some restaurants stretch themselves too thin and offer a wide variety of choices for food that is just mediocre. Culinary Dropout offers a small variety of choices for food that is cooked to perfection. It is a little on the pricey side, but the experience lived up to the price point, so at least it was well worth the splurge. The location is not exactly convenient for us, but this place is worth going out of the way to come back to, so we are looking forward to another visit sometime soon. read more

There's tons of outdoor seating, which makes it perfect for cooler weather and an easy date spot. Service was friendly, and while there was a bit of a wait for the main entrees, the charcuterie board held us over. We ordered the Caesar salad, feta tahini dip, steak frites, and spicy rigatoni. The dip was good but leaned a bit sweet for my taste. The Caesar salad was solid and straightforward. The steak frites was well-seasoned and nicely balanced with the arugula. Skylar handled our booking of 40 women and our server team Madison Alexa Zay and Angelo were able to serve all of us and get us out the door for a luncheon on a weekday in 1.5 hours which if you've never hosted an event before, is a feat in itself. Additionally, the food came out great and there is so much variety here! I came here with a friend; we decided to try one of the new restaurants on our list. It was a nice day out and chilly inside and we ended up sitting on the patio. So I can't speak too much to the indoor ambience. But the food was great! I ordered the Cacio e Pepe with chicken and it was perfect! The chicken on top was tender juicy and thinly sliced and the sauce on the pasta was the right balance of creamy and light. I also had a cocktail, forgot the name of it but it was very balanced and tasted great. We were at the mall nearby and stopped in for lunch. We were seated right away and opted for the enclosed patio with lots of natural light. Later we discovered that dogs are allowed on the patio. We started with the pretzels and fondue but quickly regretted the choice. The server recommended the popcorn shrimp appetizer ($18) which turned out to be a great option. The shrimp and aioli were both seasoned well. We also started with a classic Caesar salad ($13) which was pretty standard and tasted fine. We decided to take our server's recommendation for our meals too and got the pub burger with fries ($20) and the smokehouse hash ($17) which was from the brunch menu. The potato hash came with bbq pork, onion, poblano pepper and an egg with a flour tortilla on the side. Both were delicious and very flavorful. Our server Shanelle was great and patiently accommodated several requests we made with a smile. Our dinners underwhelmed too - the short ribs were covered in sauce and not very good and the Asian slaw salad had a lot of romaine lettuce in it. We started off with the Soft Pretzels & Provolone Fondue. After that everyone put in their orders. The kids had the cheeseburger and fries from the kids menu and a side of Mac & cheese. My oldest niece had the PEKING DUCK & SHRIMP FRIED RICE, my brother had the same thing but swapped the duck out for salmon. My sister and I had the SPICY VEGAN CURRY but I added protein to mine.
