I came here for Sunday brunch to celebrate a friend's birthday! We had a reservation but were able to walk right in and be seated immediately. There's plenty of parking out front in the lot as well. Inside, there's plenty of seating and I liked the decor and vibes, very clean and chic. I got an Aperol Spritz to start which was refreshing. For my entree, I had the Southwest Breakfast bowl. I liked this as a healthier option and it was a great portion size! For my friend's birthday, they gave her an option of dessert on the house which was very sweet! The steak and frites were absolutely delicious--tender, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. The roasted salmon was just as impressive--flaky, well-seasoned, and beautifully plated. We started with the "Slice" charcuterie board--while it had a nice selection overall, the unpitted olives were a bit of a surprise. A heads-up on that would've gone a long way, but it certainly didn't ruin the experience. The real standout (aside from the food) was the atmosphere--laid-back, fun, and full of great energy. The staff was super friendly, and our server Nova was sweet as Georgia pie--attentive, warm, and made us feel right at home. We'll definitely be back. This was my first time at Culinary Dropout. I had heard about it for quite some time, but was never able to go. I went for a friend's birthday, there were 11 of us. We made a reservation for Saturday afternoon. There were plenty of tables available, but I would still advise making a reservation just to be safe. We started with some drinks. I got a Bloody Mary, which was pretty good. I told our server to make it spicy, and they didn't miss! Other people got some other drinks as well. They have a nice drink list filled with cocktails as well as beers, zero-proof drinks, wines, seltzers, and practically everything else. We all ordered off the brunch menu, which is HUGE. They have so many options, so you are defintiely bound to find something you will like. I got the Fried Chicken and Buttermilk biscuit as my main course, and then me and my wife shared the Brussels Sprouts. Both of the dishes were SO GOOD. The chicken biscuit came with two eggs on it, and they were cooked perfectly. The chicken was crispy, but juicy at the same time. Loved it! The sprouts were crispy and tangy too. It's always so hard to replicate these at home, but this restaurant did it perfectly. My wife got the hot wings as her main course. They were really good too! They were the right amount of spice, that paired perfectly with the ranch. I tried some of the other dishes that some of our friends got too. I tried the feta and tahini dip and the pretzels with fondue. I personally loved the dip. I'm a huge fan of feta, so this was excellent. The dip was super flavorful!! The pretzels with fondue were good too. The fondue came in this little pot thing, which was pretty aesthetically pleasing. The pretzels were soft and hot, pairing perfectly with warm fondue. All of the food was exceptional!! Culinary Dropout is a super fun place! You can eat and drink here, and then explore the area around too. There are other restaurants, a little courtyard, and some benches where you can wander to after (or before even.) There is plenty of parking, as there is a lot all around. The service is excellent too. Our server was super helpful with helping us make informed choices about both our food and drink, and she did everything with such kindness. This has the potential to be a very cool place. It's certainly pretty inside and it has a really great menu. The pretzel bites are not bites by any means they are more like pretzel Cannon balls. Definitely shareable and delicious but we came here on a Sunday afternoon and the place was not busy but it was so slow and I do mean slow service was very sweet and pleasant but it was slow. Did I mention it was slow? My food came out wrong and it took so long to get it in the First place I just decided to share in the breakfast burrito that we also ordered. Too bad because my meal actually looked pretty good but it was not the way I wanted it. They need to hire a few more people and their kitchen needs to step it up. I guess everyone has a bad night. My party and I were invited back to Culinary Dropout after leaving a less than favorable review. This visit was entirely excellent. Food was delish. Wait staff were very attentive. When one of our party expressed an interest in a dish that would be slower to come in, the waitress let her know so expectations were set. So much better than a surprise during the meal. Three of us had the Steak Frit. steak was excellent and tender. I had the salmon. perfectly cooked and delicious. Finally, in making our reservation,I mentioned that one of our party was disabled. Staff was ready for her and had a perfect table ready for her. The restaurant is large, with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors and live music on the weekends. Our server was friendly and accommodating and the food was delicious. Now this is a good spot in a good area. They have a myriad of types of food for you to try. I actually went in because they have Detroit style pizza, even though they were out of it, it was still a really good spot randomly try. They have an outdoor and indoor area so depending on what the weather you can sit outside because there's plenty of patio space. And on the patio it's right facing a central parkish area so you'll see a lot of people out walking and playing and things like that. Now. If you don't want to see all those people, I suggest you don't stay outside LOL. Service was good. I came on a premium night so it was a bit slow though, even to the point to where I had to wait to get water to wash down the food, but I have understanding for the service industry so I'm not going to bash anybody for that because sometimes those type of nights get super crowded. But overall I feel like outside of that it was still really good on the service tip. From the way staff to the hostess table, I have any complaints about that. They have a very large bar and the area and the space that it's in is very big. So even if it is kind of crowded you should still be able to find a seat somewhere. They have some TVs at the bar so you can watch a game. But if you wanted a pure sports bar this would not be the place for you. But don't let that dissuade you. They also have a DJ there. I'm sure it's not every night, but the night that I went they had a DJ playing as well so that was actually pretty cool. It's in a strip mall shopping area. So it's free parking. It's not like you're in the middle of midtown, you're in the Dunwoody area so they don't have to worry about any paying to park so that's always a bonus. Crispy popcorn shrimp - This was pretty good for an appetizer. I probably would not get it again but it was okay. To me. It was decent but I feel like the sodium content was off the charts LOL. It was a little salty for me. Peking duck fried rice - Now I had the fried rice here and this was actually good as well. It kind of had the same issue as the previous appetizer I mentioned, it was a little salty, but it didn't have a balance so that was actually pretty okay. Again. Like I said in the beginning, I actually came for pizza so this was not my first choice but I wanted to try something and it was pretty decent. Overall I would absolutely go back. I feel like they have a lot in the area and a lot inside the establishment itself. Nice place for a birthday dinner/date night but honestly very mid. Food is alright but pricey, and the kitchen was out of so many items when I went. I got the crispy chicken katsu and it was alright. Decent portion size, great side salad, but it felt like the flavor was only coming from whatever sauce they were using while the actual cutlet was pretty bland. I'll give this place some grace since we had a large table, but the service was incredibly slow from start to finish. It took a long time for the food to come out, and it took equally as long for them to bring the checks even though we signaled for them. Our reservation was at 7:30pm, and we left around 10:15pm as soon as we were done signing the checks. Culinary Dropout is so cute! I'd been wanting to go for a while and my in-laws were staying nearby so we decided to go there for a quick dinner. First, I obviously haven't been over in Dunwoody for a while because Ashford Lane has come up in the world, okay?! Everything looks amazing. I am very impressed. Obviously parking is not an issue as there is plenty of it. Now onto the experience. Culinary Dropout is so moody. Although it's a very big space, the atmosphere is very intimate with dim lighting, dark and cozy seating and low music. I could actually hear the conversation from the rest of my party, so that's a plus! I ordered the Detroit Style Pepperoni and Italian Sausage Pizza, it took me so long to order because all the options sounded delicious, but that's what I decided on. My husband had the Shaved Prime Rib Dip with fries, my MIL had the Peking duck and shrimp fried rice and my FIL had the Roasted Salmon. The pizza was really good! The dough was soft and pillowy, there weren't too many toppings on the slices, and the sauce, though not much, was delicious. My husband's prime rib dip was so good and the au jus was perfect. It even heated up well the next day. My MIL got the Peking duck on the side of the shrimp fried rice and gave it to my husband, then replaced the shrimp fried rice completely with pizza. I did try it though (upon her request when trying to decide if she wanted to replace it) and it was very good. My FIL enjoyed his salmon very much. The service was great! I did not get our server's name but she was very attentive and made sure our table was good to go and our drinks were never empty. The manager on duty handled the replacement of the shrimp fried rice professionally and was very kind (and might I say, stylish too!) I first fell in love with Culinary Dropout at The Domain when I lived in Austin. I always ordered the Steak Frites and the Evil Jungle Princess cocktail. So when I found out one opened just two minutes from my place here in ATL I had to check them out and been back several times since. Today we stopped in for lunch and our server was super friendly. The Daisy mocktail was so refreshing as it was hot earlier today. We ordered the Fried Chicken with biscuit and stacked potatoes, and the pepperoni & sausage pizza, definitely comfort food at its finest! We also had the fried shrimp, and wings as appetizers. The pizza was decent, but the rest was great. There was a hiccup today and the way the Manager handled it completely shifted my experience that I wouldn't want to post what happened publicly. Better than the sports bar food around this area. Also better than Seasons 52. Large portions. Wagu pigs in a blanket were good-can't really mess that up! But the puff pastry was nice...the honey mustard crème frèche was not. Would have preferred regular honey mustard or mustard. The fries that came with my partner's ribs were cold, limp, and way too salty. The staff was very kind to bring a fresh batch. Second batch-Seriously good fries. Crispy, not greasy, not too salty, pillowy-soft potato-y goodness...great fries. Ribs were fall-off the bone tender, very heavily seasoned...almost too much but not. Salmon cooked correctly, the corn risotto-ish creamy part was rich, very rich. Too much/too heavy after a few bites. Caesar salad was split by the kitchen, standard, good. Overall, good casual food. Got there on a busy night, seemed like a cooperate event was going on. 45 minute wait for a table so we just sat at the bar. Waitstaff was friendly. We got the pretzels with fondue and were really happy with what we got. Me and my Husband were visiting from out of town and we were recommended to try Culinary Dropout. I have to say that the food is Amazing! I wasn't sure what to get as I am a picky eater but our waitress Amberlou was Phenomenal! She gave the best recommendation, we had the Korean style ribeye and the Steak Frites and let me tell you it was a 100/10!! Amberlou also recommended drinks for us that were perfect, flavorful and with a little kick! I've never had service this attentive and accommodating she was lovely! Culinary dropout located in Perimeter was easy to find. It's located on Ashford Lane. It's surrounded by several businesses. Free parking behind the restaurant. You can dine inside or outside. They have a nice event or party area that you can reserve. Lunch is always better with great company. The inside decor was very nice. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. We enjoyed learning about culinary dropout. The appetizer shrimp were really good with a garlic aioli sauce. Medium-sized shrimp and fried slivers of zucchini. It was enough for 2 to share. My cousin loved her old fashion. I decided to try the Evil Jungle Princess. It was pretty good. The Chopped Chicken salad was really good. The chicken is a BBQ chicken. The salad lettuce is tossed in ranch dressing with all the remaining toppings on top. All the ingredients taste fresh. My cousin enjoyed her fried chicken. It came with a leg, thigh, and breast. We came here as a group of four with a reservation late on a Saturday afternoon. The space is quite large with a hip and eclectic vibe. Loud music was piled in until the weekend entertainment began performing on the small stage. We ordered a few cheese selections (pimento and manchego) as well as some crusty bread to start. The cheese was nice but the amount provided was quite small for the price. I had a Cheap House Salad with buttermilk ranch. It was a nice little salad, perhaps not worth $8.50. I also had the Peking duck and shrimp fried rice. It was very tasty but spicy. It was quite saucy and had the consistency of pad Thai, not fried rice. Uncle Roger (IYKYK) would likely say hiyaaa! Our friend also ordered this and could not eat much due to the spice. My wife had the Spicy Vegan Curry with sweet potato, eggplant, and black rice . This was very tasty with a pretty good spice as well. Another friend had the Prime Rib sandwich with a house salad as a side. They stated they enjoyed it. The service was pleasant and consistent, refilling beverages without being asked and checked in regularly. When we were leaving, the place was getting quite full. The Fish and chips were pretty good but look at the portions they gave us. Three baby fish sticks and a few fries. Even when we got the cheeseburger there weren't a lot of fries. Pizza Being from Detroit I have to get it. These guys advertise their pizza as Detroit style. When they should just call it a square pizza. This not a Detroit style pizza. The crust was thin & it was just lacking in almost every department. I personally don't think anyone in this facility had a Detroit Deep dish before. Come to the city & I'll show you what it should be like. The burger looked like the best thing at the table. First time I ever ordered so much and the burger looked the best. Overall this was a bit disappointing especially for the price. However this place is in a phenomenal area. Who ever is doing the staffing here is doing a great job. The waitresses/waiters are great. Parking (following Google maps) dropped us in a lot behind the building that had us a little confused; however, I'm glad we got there and got a parking spot when we did late Saturday afternoon because by the time we were leaving, it was full - so much so that two cars were vulturing around and glaring at our group saying our goodbyes in the parking lot because they wanted us to vacate our spots! The space - awesome! Very trendy/industrial and spacious. The interior was comfortable and the restrooms were clean. All of the hosts and servers were very friendly. The food took ages to arrive and when it did, only 2 of our party of 10 were pleased with the food. The quality and quantity couldn't justify the cost for any of us. The waygu pigs in blankets tasted like something I'd make at home with cocktail weinies and crescent rolls (yummy, but not dinner-out amazing.) The menu also should've added to the Korean ribeye cap description that its little meat slivers were bathed in spice - the couple who ordered it couldn't finish because their tastebuds were scorched. None of the other meals were a stand-out except the Asian crunch salad and the appetizer fondue. This whole area of Dunwoody is so youthful and fun that I'd come back just for a drink and to stroll/hang in the green space, but doubtful for dinner. read more

We recently visited Culinary Dropout at Ashford Crossing in Dunwoody to celebrate my son's birthday. This newly revamped area is so lively -- packed with food spots, dessert places, and a fun vibe. Parking was super easy (and free) with overflow in the garage. We had a reservation, and while the host was nice, I was a little disappointed that we couldn't be seated where we preferred. Our waitress, however, was wonderful -- very kind, attentive, and courteous. As for the food: I ordered the steak frites, as did my son. The steak was decent, fries and sauce were good, but honestly nothing to rave about. My son asked for his steak medium rare, but it came out well done. The staff did make up for it by treating him to a free birthday dessert, which was very sweet. The monkey bread with ice cream was the highlight of the meal -- absolutely delicious! My kids had the mac & cheese and chicken tenders, which they enjoyed. My daughter ordered the fried chicken, but it didn't have that "southern fried chicken" taste we're used to, though the biscuit it came with was to die for. I even requested another and our waitress happily brought me one. Overall, the atmosphere is very family-friendly, and I can see this place thriving for a long time. Unfortunately, for us, it just wasn't memorable enough to come back. With the dishes we tried, I felt like we could've easily cooked it all at home. Oh. My. Gosh. The Peking duck and shrimp fried rice is incredibly tasty. You can taste every seasoning and ingredient. My date and I shared that dish along with the battered fish and chips. We ordered the pigs in a blanket for an appetizer. Our food and drinks were brought out within 15 minutes of ordering. I feel like I got the "short" end of the stick on these "ribs." No bones about it!... Literally! No rib bones. "Short" -and by short I mean- one inch cubes of some kind of meat! We had made a reservation for 5PM on a weekday, expecting it to be busy with happy hours and after-work dinners. When we arrived it was empty, but it began filling up pretty soon after. We had an amazing server, I think his name was James (I was late so I missed the arrival/intro!) and he made absolutely fantastic recommendations. I wanted the espresso martini but with some modifications, which he handled brilliantly and even made suggestions himself. It's quite a large space and I imagine it would get quite noisy with a full service, but it was perfect for a catch up with friends, great drinks and delicious food. Yesterday afternoon I dined at Culinary Dropout for the first time with my mom and bonus dad who were in town visiting from Alabama. The lunch crowd had already been thru so it was a nice space to sit and talk while we dined inside. I had the Shaved Prime Rib Dip with French fries and it was delicious. The bread was very soft and tasty and everything came out hot. The fries were perfection. My Bonus Dad had the Beer Battered Fish & Chips which he enjoyed and commented that the tater sauce was amazing and the waitress shared it was homemade in house. My mom enjoyed the Roasted Salmon that comes with Butternut Squash Risotto and garden herb pesto. She said she would have licked her bowl clean had it been appropriate to do so. The waitress was very attentive refilling our drinks often and checking on us throughout the meal. We decided since lunch was such a great experience we would hang around a little longer and order dessert. We ordered two monkey breads and a special apple pie over soft serve. Each portion was huge and we could have shared one. The monkey bread was fresh from the oven (we had to wait about 10 minutes) with a side of vanilla Icecream. It was amazing. The restaurant is huge and very well appointed. We thought our experience was above and beyond and that we would definitely recommend visiting and we will be back. I wanna try brunch sometime. This was an entire vibe! While visiting the Perimeter area for business, we (colleagues) blindly chose this restaurant because of the name and location. We had no idea what to expect. Upon arrival, the decor reminds you of Mid Century Modern meets old Hollywood meets Modern Industrial. The attention to detail was undeniable. We were greeted by the biggest and brightest smile EVER. We decided to sit at the bar and were fortunate to meet Dez. She was one of the best bartenders that either of us had ever encountered. She was professional, knowledgeable, passionate about her craft and at the core of it all - an extreme sweetheart. She made menu suggestions and helped us to curate a wonderful lunch. The drinks were WORTHY, the appetizers were palate comforting (especially the shrimp and rice one) and the entrees were fresh and filling. I was in the area for a conference and was so happy there was a Culinary Dropout by our hotel! My friend and I dined in on Friday night. We were welcomed in by a friendly crew at the front. The restaurant was at about half capacity around 7pm, so we had no issue getting a seat. They had a really great playlist on! I had a pub burger with side salad. The salad was a great way to balance the burger. The burger itself was flavorful and well-seasoned. My friend had the crispy shrimp Caesar salad and enjoyed it as well. Our server was awesome and really friendly. In fact, I think service at this location is the best of any of the other locations I've been to!
