TGM was good. It's a sub shop of The General Muir, I think it's where they bake all of the bread and pastries for the restaurant. It's super simple they have a cash register, one big table and the baking equipment. The menu is simple, there are about 3-4 soups, bread offerings and a small selection of refrigerated items. I ordered the lunch combo which gives you a choice of a 16oz soup and a bread for about $10. The soups sit in a heater and so orders come quick. The flavor was great and fresh, as well as the bread. I would definitely recommend this for a quick, affordable and tasty lunch option. Much better alternative to Panera. It's located near the Emory campus, adjacent to The General Muir restaurant. I though it was the deli at the far right end of the restaurant but it's the store front right next door.

Chicken mushroom soup with cranberry walnut bread. Yummy.

A functional bakery serving a variety of soups and a variety of breads. Fresh and delicious.

Soup and bread

I've wanted to try this pop up. My friend and I came here for lunch this past Thursday and they were serving soup and bread - perfect for the cold weather! I ordered the Italian wedding soup + pain levain and she ordered the Lox Chowder + demi baguette. Both the soups were delicious! You could tell the meatball/sausage in the Italian wedding soup was house-made and there was clumps of chewy mozzarella which was delicious. I got to try my friend's chowder and also really enjoyed it. Instead of clams, it had smoked salmon! I was a bit bummed that my combo only had a thin slice of bread compared to the baguette, but both the pain levain and baguettes were great with the soup. Although $8 for a soup and bread combination was a bit pricey, I like the concept of the pop up and look forward to trying other things from TGM bread next time.

Kickass The General Muir now has a non-sweets bakery next door. Though I haven't bought any bread from them, I have tried the rotating popup lunch twice and give it my stamp of approval. Visit #1: Soup and Sandwich A few months ago, there was a soup + sandwich lunch going on, offering sandwiches ($9 each) and tomato bisque ($4, combo for $12) whipped up and served by Chef Todd Ginsburg. I felt like a celebrity, having him making my sandwich and bring it out to me. Both he and the woman taking my order at the register were extremely nice and cared what I thought about the food. I went with the Meat and Potatoes sandwich after having it recommended to me. It didn't take long to come out. The sandwich was full of flavor (and butter too, I made good use of the provided napkins). Not sure if I'm completely sold on the idea of potatoes in a sandwich, but the bacon, onions, creme fraiche, and Gruyere were appreciated elements. The bread was killer delish and toasted just right. The tomato bisque was the perfect cozy cup for a cutting chilly day, with the right balance of the sharp tomato and cream. Visit #2: Pita and Hummus Now TGM Bread is doing a pita popup Tuesday-Friday from 11:30-1:30. I ordered the broccoli hummus tehina bowl ($10) to go, and it came with a juicy pickle and a piping hot and airy pita. Chef Todd wasn't working but the guy who assembled my order was nice though the cashier seemed a tad dour. While you can buy more for $1.50 each, I wish two pitas were offered instead of just one since I ended up eating the leftover hummus with a spoon, like pudding. That's acceptable, right??? The hummus was ridiculously creamy and dressed up with crunchy broccoli crowns and olive oil. Egyptian spice-herb mix dukkah added the right seasoning and the hazelnuts a little bit of crunchy texture. The lamb offering sounded tempting but it wasn't meant to be since TGM Bread was all out. I recommend going next door and picking up a slice of the insane German chocolate cheesecake for your dessert. Perfect!

Such great bread, baked goods and treats. In addition, it's a great place for lunch to get a variety of homemade soups too. I never come away from here without a smile on my face. In addition to this shop, you can find them at some of the farmer's markets around town too. Great and friendly service. It's the only bread in our house!

Italian wedding soup

I went for the pop up soup + bread. I had the Italian wedding soup which was tasty and very filling. It came with 2 slices of fresh bread. Yum. They put the lentils in when they serve which keeps them from turning to mush. Broth was delicious and the addition of chard made me feel hashtag healthy. ;) I like that they had a different type of bread hand picked to go with each soup. (They will let you swap for whatever you like if you wanna be that person) Actual restaurant is very industrial which I think is cool. But grab and go if you don't.

I had the chance to snag some goodies from TGB Bread on their opening day. They had a lot of samples out for you to try and awesome samples of items from The Preserving Place, Banner Butter and Strippaggio. All of these go nicely with the breads. We grabbed a few English muffins, pain de chocolat, and a loaf of the Asiago bread. The English muffins are the best English muffins I've ever had. I'm not generally a huge fan of them, but these are really, really good. We inhaled the pain de chocolate on the ride home in the car and had to brush of a wave of pastry flakes off of us when we got home. The asiago loaf has huge chunks of asiago baked in. Cheesy goodness. TGB Bread is located right next door to the General Muir so you can easily stop by after a great meal there. Plenty of parking in the garage. The first 3 hours are free.

We saw some of the really cute things in the window, so we walked in and it did not disappoint. The place was filled with chocolates macaroons and a whole bunch of pastries. You could also order a whole variety of espresso drinks and lattes, etc. It even had a really cute seating area directly outside, but if you could fit yourself inside, there was some bar seating as well. The place is not large however, the cases are definitely filled with a lot of goodies. On this particular day, it did take us a little while to make a decision as there are quite a few choices. However, the two staff members who were here that day were very patient with us. We did walk away with macaroons a lemon meringue tart as well as a Canele. You know what it's in the pictures. I do not have a picture of that because it was eaten before I got a chance to take a picture of it. But everything was so tasty absolute perfection. I don't know who's making this stuff but they are truly talented. I have to come back here again when I'm in Buckhead Village.

This is a bakery with a super cool selection of international cakes and collectibles. Japanese cream cakesC croissants, sweet-filled buns, on & on. We got our boba teas, a tiramisu, strawberry cream cakes to satisfy the sweet tooth(s), but I was so excited to see a chicken korean BBQ sandwich that I had to get one! OH-EM-GEE!! I will be back to the sandwich alone!! It didn't take too long for the hot sandwich despite it being nearly closing time on a Saturday. The staff was helpful, friendly, and very accommodating. The diner itself isn't fancy, and the tables could use some consistent cleaning and clearing. You get plastic tableware and napkins on your own. But it was warm in a cold evening and had plenty of places to sit in the evening. I can imagine it gets pretty packed for lunch. Not sure.

Wish this was heated up though, I feel like it would've been better. - Oxtail Meat Pie: Similar to the sausage roll with a generous amount of meat but wish it was heated up. It was pretty hefty. - Strawberry Pistachio and Coconut Cream Danishes: Both were so good! I loved the crispy and crunchy danishes and the flavors were great in these. I like the savory pistachios and the creamy and crumbly coconut cream. - Chocolate Chip Cookie: This was such a delicious cookie! Perfectly made in between soft and firm and textures. The sea salt on top was chef's kiss. The lines move pretty fast. There's nowhere to sit and lounge, so you would need to take these pastries elsewhere to enjoy. The staff is also really nice and patient when my friend and I were trying to decide on pastries. Overall, I think these pastries would do good in an air fryer/oven. I would come back, but bring the pastries home to warm and crisp them up a bit. I also really want to try their burger which is only sold on the weekend at certain times!

I was told to get here by 12:30pm because they serve the burgers at 1pm and the line gets long and they run out. Found out later in line from the person in front of me that they make 130-170 burgers and they sell them all. That's a lot of burgers. I thought it was all hype because I got there at 12:20pm and there was no line. I went in and asked to make sure this was the right place, the guy said to wait outside, they start selling it at 1pm. I was 1st in line. Waited 5 mins then went to my car to get my headphones. By the time I came back, 3 people were now in front of me. I guess the 12:30pm recommendation was valid. By 12:35pm there were 20 people behind me. I do not like waiting, so I'm glad I was early to at least be served 1st. Never been here before, they are busy. When I got here, it was packed with people buying bread and pastries inside. I didn't get to buy the sourdough bread. It was sold out. Apparently, the locals come every Sunday for this burger. I guess they hang a burger flag out when it's burger time some of the people in the line in front of me felt a way that they didn't do that this time. I guess they're getting comfortable and just trying to knock the rush/crowd out. I think coming at one would be fine if they're selling 170 burgers I think the problem is they don't limit the amount of burgers you can buy. At least I don't think so. Now for this burger. Not worth it. Not worth the wait or the hype. I'm still surprised how basic tasted. They need a housemate sauce or something on it. It's literally just one burger and pickles. If it was pack full of flavor and well seasoned, that would be enough. But it's not. The best part about it is the bun. And 30mins after eating the burger, I didn't feel so good. My stomach started hurting, and that was the only thing I ate all day. I avoid eating beef altogether, but I will here and there as of late. My boyfriend eats beef, but he started feeling sick maybe an hour later as well. I was disappointed because I didn't know they pre-make the burgers and just throw them in the bag. You can't customize it or anything. I think we got sick because the burgers were medium. They were not cooked well, and I always get beef burgers cooked all the way through. The way they're rushing you out of there like an express assembly line is crazy. I really wanted to wait to ask them to prepare me two, made well since they were making burgers as they were going along, I believe. I would have waited to have them made well but the way they were rushing you out, it just wasn't the place to ask for anything extra or additional and I don't like places like that. Too strict too many rules and you don't feel comfortable. Even though you're spending $70 on 2 burgers and some pastries. Compared to a pack of ground beef to make your own burgers, this is a lot. I bought two burgers $17 each, and 5 pastries to try because I won't be coming back here anytime soon. I will say, great pastry selection. I was talking to a guy in line and I asked him if he ever had the kouign amann. It looked good. He said yes, it was good, and the chocolate kouign amann, he's going to try as well. I purchased a chocolate kouign amann, a regular kouign amann, cardamom bun, a hazelnut bun, and monkey bread. I wrote everything down outside that I was going to buy so I didn't waste any time. I already spotted the monkey bread when I walked in. The woman packaging up the food was about to fix her face to say they didn't have any monkey bread, when they were clearly at the other end. Maybe that was her doing me a favor because I was highly disappointed in the monkey bread. I'm on a monkey bread kick, and I have been trying it at a lot of places. This one was not good. They sprinkle lemon zest on it, which kind of threw me off, and the bread itself was very dry even after warming it up, adding melted butter and honey. It still was not good. The best thing was the original kouign amann. The chocolate one was not good because they have chocolate on the inside kind of like moose or ganache, but it was overwhelming. It tasted like dark cocoa chocolate, and I thought the pastry was dark because the whole thing was chocolate, but it actually was burnt. A lot of the items looked burnt to be honest. I think the demand is getting to this place. The cardamom bun was just ok. The hazelnut bun was just an extension of the monkey bread to me. Not a fan. I remember growing up, we went to the local butcher and bakery to get fresh meat, bread, and pastries for cheap. I like the idea of a local bakery and butcher shop like this, but this place is not cheap. I'd skip this one.

For $26, I got a ton of food and 90% of it was absolutely delectable. And I say that with an 8-year-old in tow who enjoyed it too! Let's start with the never again item: the Flossy Bun. It's a popular Chinese pastry made with soft, sweet bread filled and topped with sweet and savory pork floss... allegedly. There weren't any descriptions, so I looked it up online. But let me tell you--no. Just no. I don't get how it's popular. Definitely a cultural preference, and it's not for me. I even paused mid-bite hoping I'd grow into the flavor. Nope. Then there was the Coffee Butter Cream Pastry. I thought at the very least my fiancée would like it since she enjoys coffee flavors. That was another miss. I even gave some to two little ones, and the faces they made reminded me of the time I tried canned octopus. That's how bad the flavor was. But now to the good stuff--because the rest? Fire. BBQ Pork Bun - Yummy! Not packed with meat, but enough to enjoy and super easy to pull apart. I really wish they offered a heated option for this, because that would've put it over the top. Japanese Milk Cream Bun - Super creamy. I do wish it had just a little more cream inside, but the bread was so soft and delicious, I honestly didn't care. Hot Dog Cheese Bun - I got this for the little one and I've never seen a child eat something so fast. I'm taking that as a solid win. Egg Tart - Grabbed this from the front warmer after watching another customer snag one. I had missed it earlier. Not totally my thing on its own, but when I got home and added a little chili paste? Devoured. Hong Kong Boba Milk Tea - I went with this instead of the brown sugar version and kind of regret it, but it wasn't bad at all. All in all, the prices are great, the flavors were mostly on point, and the man at the register was super friendly and open to answering questions. Yeah--I'm sold. Looking forward to coming back!
