Randomly stopped here on a Saturday afternoon. It's in a little shopping center with free parking. I see some of the reviews mention Colony Square; the location I went to was further up Peachtree north of SCAD. They have lots of flavors and two sizes of cupcakes. They also sell the day-old items at a discount. There only seemed to be one person working but they were super nice and helpful. Before leaving, I saw a sign that said it was woman of color owned, which It was so hard to decide, so I got a day-old mini Chocolate Salted Caramel and a day-old regular size Chocolate Cream Throwback cupcake. They were still so moist and actually tasted chocolatey! So many times chocolate cakes and cupcakes don't actually taste like anything. The frosting was so yummy and the ratio of frosting to cupcake was perfect to me. I used to love Hostess cupcakes so I was really excited to try their take on it. My gf got a mini day-old Red Velvet and a regular Creme Brulee. She's not a big frosting person, so I had to eat half of the frosting on her Red Velvet, which I didn't complain about. She liked both but felt like the frosting was too sweet. I rarely go out for cupcakes so I can't really compare. I ordered a 9 inch chocolate raspberry and a 6 inch red velvet cake along with an assortment of mini cupcakes. I had to exchange texts with a California staff member who handles custom orders, but the person was very responsive. The 6 inch cake is surprisingly tall although it's small. I wish I had gotten the red velvet in the larger size. Everyone loved it. I think it might be the best I've ever had. Cupcakes are poppin' my favorite flavor is kiwi lime, next I'd say cookies n creme, blueberry lemon, and the Carmel drizzle both on vanilla and chocolate are great runners up. I haven't one I didn't like tho even the red velvet was ok for me and I usually have a strong dislike for that flavor of anything so this is a great testament of how delicious their cupcakes are. Cupcakin Bake Shop at was a stop after we watched Bad Boys. The worker wasn't too attentive. She didn't explain and flavor. Which was best selling nothing. Nonetheless we ordered two cupcakes. MADAGASCAR BOURBON VANILLA & bourbon peach cobbler. These cupcakes were so moist !!! The frost was nice and light not heavy as regular buttercream. But I will say the bourbon peach cobbler did not taste like a peach cobbler. It was more so like a spice cupcake with a hint of peach in the frosting. When I walked in, I was instantly greeted even with the amount of people that was coming through. And the line moved quite fast with fresh cupcakes coming out instantly. Once it was my turn, I was helped was the same fast and great service. I bought the carrot cake, bourbon peach cobbler, cookies n cream and Madagascar vanilla. I have tried or should I devoured the carrot cake cupcake. It is sweet but not overly sweet. Nicely put together. Also it is in a great location. I will never return as I told the employee this is the third time I have attempted to service this establishment and the hours are wrong or the place was closed early. A canopy would be a welcome addition here. That being said, these are the best cupcakes in Midtown and very reasonably priced at $4 each. As someone with dietary restrictions, I appreciate that they sell mini cupcakes too for $2 each--something I rarely see elsewhere. My favorite cupcake is the Vanilla Salted Caramel, followed closely by the Red Velvet. The carryout packaging could use some improvement; the first time I ordered mini cupcakes to go, they were upside down in the box by the time I got home. I had a great experience at Cupcakin' when visiting Atlanta. I opted for a 4 pack of the minis, just so I could try a few flavors. Everything was excellent, but the real stand out was the red velvet. Something about the airy, whipped frosting really drew me in. I also happened to notice that the double chocolate cupcake I got really did taste like it was made from high quality dark chocolate, as a few others have mentioned. High quality ingredients are great to notice, especially when it is $2 for a mini cupcake that is basically only 1-2 bites. The window has a potential for extreme cuteness factor, but it looks like a storage area for boxes. The shop and displays and t-shirts are adorable, but I won't be buying one because the cupcakes are just okay. They have lots of variety and look cute, but they just crumble to bits the second you try to take a bite. Both my husband and I ended up with almost as much cupcake on the ground as in the belly. To be fair, these were day-old cupcakes to save $1 each, but the cashier assured us they were just as fresh as that day's batch. If that's true, they're all dry and crumbly. If there's a ton of difference in the two, they ought not sale the day-old ones or the tiny discount is going to drive customers away.
