Lewis Barbecue has been on our list to try after seeing a social media post. We were in the area and decided to stop by. It is tucked away but easy to find when following signage and GPS. The customer service was superb! The general manager circulated to check in on patrons, and everyone was incredibly helpful and friendly. A special shout out to G, who really made the experience! We ordered brisket, ribs, and wings with mac n cheese and tallow fries as our sides. The brisket, ribs, and sides were 10/10!!!! The wings had a different flavoring...not bad...just different. We all definitely be back and highly recommend Lewis to others!
I was in town for work and was craving some good food. Lewis bbq passed the eye test for sire! Like yall see it. I got the brisket which was good, wasn't perfect, but I still enjoyed it. The ribs were the star and most def the Mac n cheese. The Mac n cheese was soooo creamy. Arguable some of the best I've had so this is a must. They had barrels of sauces for you to choose from. I don't recall what the name was, but I really enjoyed the more tangy one. The area is in a nice shopping plaza with what looks like a creek to walk along. Nice area.
This place is a hidden Gem....with a pleasant atmosphere, great staff and Delicious BBQ. Hopefully this review will lead others like past ones lead me to a great meal. Thank you to the Pink haired assoc. Who made our 1st experience make more since and simpler. Thank you to the gentleman that happily clear your tables after your meal. Thank you to the entire kitchen for the heart put into the turkey, brisket, Mac n cheese, collards and sauces we thoroughly enjoyed. This place is a quaint master piece that deserves a much larger floor plan. The thing I loved the most about Lewis BBQ is that while you can't see it from the parking lot U CAN SMELL IT AND IT'S DRAWING! Like cartoons floating and following a delicious smell . Long story short, was dinner for 3 worth $100 (with tip)...absolutely and I can't wait to go back again.
Had some free time and invited the family to join me for some BBQ. Having lived in Austin, my standards are really high when it comes to the smoked protein. Lewis didn't disappoint! First when you enter, you have a chance to peruse the board to prepare yourself for the upcoming stations. The staff explained very really well and were all quite friendly. My daughter and I sampled the brisket and were sold with the juiciness. We got a chopped brisket sandwich, sliced brisket sandwich and hubby opted for the turkey sandwich. Pleased to have green beans and greens without pork (or any meat) that were nicely seasoned. The mac and cheese was ok if you like yours more creamy than baked. We'll be back!
Service was great by my smoked wings weren't. While in Georgia decided to try out this bbq spot. We ordered Mac n cheese, collard greens, potatoe salad, ribs, brisket and smoked wings. The sides were good but I disliked the flavor and seasoning on the wings.
Honestly can't believe I waited this long to try this place but i did. Such a great casual spot with tons of seating. They do cafeteria style ordering down a line and you start free toppings so free pickles, pickled onion or raw onions. We did the pickles and pickled onion which were DELISH. We got the chips and queso as a starter which had these delicious thick tortilla chips and a DELICIOUS queso. For the entree we tried a bunch. We did el Sancho loco style which me and my friend agree the sausage and brisket are amazing (which they give you a taste of brisket while ordering!) but the pork was alright. Sandwich was great with all the sauce which I loved all of them but shoutout to the tangy and hatch chile sauce. We also tried the smoked wings which were SO tender and flavorful and sides of Mac and cheese and fries. I think the fries are nothing special but the Mac??? Amazing. Delicious meal and I will be back!!!

First stop in ATL was here. I was a little apprehensive but when I walked in, that delicious smoke welcomes you in. We're from CA and wanted a good lunch. We shared the potato salad, brisket, and ribs. Everything was delicious. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. Pictures don't do justice but I would def recommend anyone to stop here and enjoy their meats and choice of sauces. So so good.

We got a number of sides including the Mac and cheese, collarded greens, fries and queso- all were great! Meat is all by the pound we got the brisket, pulled pork and a sausage- all again very tasty. Service was great, the team walks you thru how to order anything and is super helpful with questions. Overall the resturant has a classic but upscale BBQ feel! Looking forward to trying Bar Lewis next!!
First time at Lewis BBQ and food was delicious, portion was large enough to share between two of us. Ordered the brisket which was very good, weren't huge fans of the hatch green chile sausage. Mac n cheese was great and portion size was great! We weren't fans of any of the 4 sauces but that's alright. Cost about $40 for the tray so definitely a treat yourself type of spot!
Super convenient free parking with beltline access. AC but not too cold. Delicious brisket and sides and really nice service. No trashcans so they have people that just clean and pick up so feel like my tip was paying for something tangible. Will definitely be back!
Bar Lewis: Super cute spot! They were playing a honky tonk country playlist, and hearing one of my favorite Loretta Lynn songs was a nice surprise. The service was good, and our bartender was very personable. I had the off-menu house margarita, which was absolutely delicious. The bathroom was also spotless, always a good sign. I tried the half-pound brisket sandwich, and the portion is definitely generous. I ate half there and saved the other half for later, which I did finish. I really liked the soft bun, and the brisket paired well with the tangy barbecue sauce. The brisket itself was a little dry, with a smoky aftertaste that wasn't quite for me. Not bad, just middle of the road. The tallow fries were really good. Nice and crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I'd definitely come back for the atmosphere, fries, and another marg.
This place is expensive but well worth it. Also, You have to park in a strip mall and take a breeze way to the back to find this place. Place is big on the inside and really clean. I ordered Bisket mixed, greens, ribs, and green chile sausage. The pickled pickles and onions help clean the taste buds. The greens are decent. Brisket is really good. Ribs are very good as well. Green Chile sausage is loaded with juices and cheese. The food is amazing but I cannot eat like this too often.

I don't have a lot of go to bbq spots in Atlanta but this spot may be the first to be added to the list! So delicious. I loved the fact that it was a counter-service style because our family was super hungry that day lol. So you order at the counter and the staff loads you up as you go down the line. But don't worry, everything was still hot and fresh! The meats were just sliced to order which was a really nice touch as well. We ordered the ribs, brisket, a spread of sides. The macaroni and cheese and the collard greens were the stand out sides for me. The star of the show was definitely the ribs and brisket. Both were melt in your mouth tender and so delicious. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza so there was plenty of parking. A great casual joint that's perfect for your bbq cravings! read more
Definitely lives up to the hype. Some of the best Mac and cheese iv ever had and by far the best smoked turkey breast. Mac was covered in a flavorful cheesy sauce that wasn't overly rich. The baked cheese topping is the cherry on top. The turkey was smokey but not overpowering, seasoning was minimal allowing the turkeys flavor to really come through. Texture was fork tender and still extremely juicy. The cutter was super nice and even offered me a sample while he was cutting. The sauces are all great and very different than your normal BBQ spot offerings. The green chili was surprisingly my favorite. Their dining area is very nice, clean, and open with outdoor seating. Outside of the food I think this place really stands out from the customer service and ordering experience. You're immediately greeted and the staff is very friendly. As I was getting up to take my plate to the trash, the "pit crew" came by and grabbed it before I even left my seat which just shows their attention to the small details. I will have to come back with more people to sample more of their menu, but I would recommend this to any one and would even suggest others driving hours just to try. I am not sure if they have even been open a full year, but this is now my go to spot for BBQ in Georgia. read more

This is the best barbecue in Atlanta now. I had the chopped brisket, Mac and cheese, and greens. I touched up the greens and Mac with hot sauce, but it was good without it as well. The brisket was juicy, tender, slightly fatty in the best way, and seasoned to perfection. The place is spacious, and the ordering system made quick with of the mid sized line upon arrival. The staff was friendly and generous with their samples and recommendations. I don't have a single complaint. The next time I'm in town, I'm making a beeline to Lewis BBQ. read more
I have had the privilege to eat some amazing smoked meats over the last month. These folks are smoking some amazing meats here @ Lewis BBQ. Top tier they are crushing it. The Mac & cheese was great, definitely gotta have the French fries, they seasoned perfectly. Plenty of seating inside and out. Service was outstanding. Definitely running this back on my next Atlanta visit. read more
Lewis BBQ never disappoints I've been to all three Lewis Barbecue locations now, and this one in Atlanta--and I'm happy to say the food here is just as good as the OG. All the meats were cooked and smoked beautifully--super tender and packed with flavor. The sides were just as tasty and really completed the meal. Definitely recommend giving it a try! read more

This is my third time at Lewis BBQ in Atlanta, loved the food and vibe of the Charleston location, so I was very happy to see Lewis open up an Atlanta branch. Food lover here and I appreciate details. Literally, everything is delicious, even the cole slaw and potato salad, perfect pickles. Tried the tallow fries, yum !!! The pulled pork sandwich has the juiciest moist BBQ pork I've ever had, melts in your mouth, same for the beef brisket. The brisket I had was anything but dry, moist and again, melts in you mouth with big flavor. Love the ambiance and the bar. The staff are very nice and very helpful too. read more

One of the best BBQ spots in ATL - I did a back to back brisket taste test with another highly rated spot (hint: it's korean fusion) and Lewis was far better in my opinion. More moist, better salted, and better flavor. My main critique with Lewis' brisket is that the texture is a little lacking. The brisket didn't necessarily hold together well when I started to cut it. It kinda just started to fall apart. The green chile corn pudding was alright - I wish it had more of a kick and a bit stronger flavor. For ATL, this is 5 star BBQ that is more along the lines of Texas style BBQ, but I think by Texas standards, this is mid/upper-mid range BBQ (still good by any means, but competition in Texas is tough). I took my order to-go and they packaged it very well! The meat was wrapped in parchment paper, and then wrapped again in saran wrap. All the sauces were labeled and we were given a plentiful amount of sauce. The OG sauce is good! Would recommend that one for sure. Despite my strong opinions, I would still return to Lewis to try more of their meats. It is, after all, probably the best BBQ in ATL and is the closest I can get to a taste of home. Glad that some real BBQ has finally landed here! read more

This is our new BBQ spot! The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, cooked to perfection, and absolutely delicious. The lean brisket is honestly the best I've ever had. We also tried the sausage, and it was just as good. I can't recommend this place enough. The mac and cheese was extra cheesy with a perfect baked layer on top. The green beans and collards weren't our favorite, both had a strong vinegar taste. But I'm not deducting any stars because the rest of the meal was that good! There's plenty of free parking in the large strip mall lot. Plenty of outside seating. We ordered online for a 3:30 pickup time, arrived at 3:25, and our order wasn't ready until 4:00 -- but it was worth the wait. read more

What a treat! Love the buffet style food service line where you can see everything in front of you and choose what you want from there! All the meats I ordered were scrumptious! The hot guts sausage, the chopped brisket and the pork ribs. I will say the pork ribs were super fatty, so maybe an opportunity with trimming the meat a bit more. Also bummed we didn't get to try the turkey (was sold out), as I hear it's a fan fave! Pro Tip: order the green chile corn pudding! Actually order 2!! read more

I ordered delivery through door dash and this is the best BBQ I've ever had. Not just in the city of Atlanta, but anywhere. Need to go and have this in person. Had pretty much the entire menu and there were zero misses. read more
The barbecue is delicious. The staff will walk you through the process. One tip: go for the fatty brisket not the lean. The wings are crispy and topped with a white sauce and lime. The collard greens and Mac and cheese make great sides. You will think the single is too small, it's not. You will be full, or at least I was. This is pricey BBQ so be prepared to pay more than a simple combo price. Everything is ala carte but not tapas priced. I may be back but it won't be often. I love a good deal. read more
Lewis Barbecue and Bar Lewis are such perfect new additions to this area! The food and drinks are both so delicious! The brisket is definitely the highlight for me!! I loved the brisket sandwich. This location is in Ansley Mall with direct access to the Beltline! It's perfect for a weekend scroll with lunch or dinner! Its a walk up counter, so you can see what you are ordering! Lewis Barbecue is some of the BEST BBQ in town. The second you step out of the car, that smoky, "oh yeah... I'm in the right place" smell hits you and it's game over. And let's talk about the sides!!!! because a lot of BBQ spots crush the meat but treat the sides like an afterthought. Not here. The sides are fully starring in the show right alongside the BBQ. The staff is also a huge part of why this place stays top-tier. Everyone is super friendly from the moment you walk in, and they're constantly keeping the dining area spotless...clearing trays, wiping tables, and somehow appearing exactly when you need something. At one point they even noticed we needed a to-go box before we did. That kind of service deserves a slow clap. This was my third visit, and I already know it won't be my last. Lewis's has me in a BBQ chokehold...in the best way. read more
While downtown Atlanta, I decided to check out the new Lewis Barbecue at Ansley Mall. I arrived around 11:40 a.m., thinking I might beat the lunch rush. No such luck--but the line was only to the door and not yet outside, so I felt pretty fortunate. As you enter, menu boards are clearly posted along with the day's specials. Drinks are on ice while you wait in line, just like the great Texas BBQ joints. The first stop is choosing your sides (corn pudding and a hunk of cheese for me), along with complimentary pickles and onions if you want them. From there, you move down to the meat counter. The staff was friendly, happy to answer questions, and--since this was my first visit--kind enough to offer a sample. I ordered a brisket sandwich and was asked if I preferred lean or fatty. Naturally, I went with a little of both. The brisket absolutely lived up to the hype--some of the best I've ever had, if not the best. My only regret was visiting solo, which meant choosing carefully. Next time, I'm bringing others so we can sample more meats and sides. Well done, Lewis Barbecue--and thank you for bringing a true taste of Texas to Atlanta with some awesome southern hospitality with your excellent service and staff. read more
Two statements to preface my review: 1) I'm not from a BBQ state, so I'm completely unbiased, and 2) I spent August trying every BBQ place in Atlanta to help my friend choose a birthday party caterer. Now that admission is out of the way: Wow, this is the only place I want to get BBQ from now on. Within 2 weeks of opening, Lewis Barbecue has nailed service, food quality and an amazing experience. The menu is clear and easy, with a great range of meat and sides options (and more dishes to come soon). The line moves quickly; from door to counter took us 11 minutes on a Friday lunchtime. Every single worker we came into contact with was super friendly, and seemed to really love their job. We were handed samples of brisket, fries and turkey, as we walked through the line from sides to proteins to cashier. Everything is placed directly on a paper-lined tray, and if you're sharing then they give you an extra piece of the paper to put on the table. Sides are in compostable paper containers. Now to the dining area; there's ample indoor and outdoor seating, with several large tables with benches so multiple small groups of diners can share a larger space. There are no trash areas, but the servers clear as people leave, so tables are always clear and clean. Utensils, napkins and sauces are by the soda fountains. Look carefully at the silver urns on the counter to find the 4 sauce options. Spoiler alert: I loved the secret sauce best. Mustardy and zingy. The beef & cheese sandwich was amazing and great value. There had to be 6oz of shaved prime rib in there, and the pickles and queso gave it a perfect bite. The smoked turkey is my favorite of the proteins - it's firm, moist and has a perfect smoke. Sides-wise, the green beans stewed in tomato/vinegar were amazing. I don't love potato salad but Lewis' changed my mind; the skin-on red potatoes with green onions and celery in a mayo-based vinegar dressing had a great creamy crunch. I'm actually shocked that everything works so smoothly so soon after opening - and that just one meal has put Lewis Barbecue at the very top of my list for BBQ in Atlanta. I'll be back next week to try the ribs and mac & cheese, after our table-neighbors "mmmmm"'d their way through their order. Bottom line: Go. Queue. Eat the samples. Find your favorite sides and sauce. Enjoy the service and atmosphere. Congrats, team Lewis, and welcome to ATL! read more
I'm writing this on opening day for the Atlanta outpost of Lewis Barbecue. This is the third location of this restaurant with the others in Greenville and the original in Charleston. I've only been to the Charleston location and this Atlanta location in the lunch rush by all indicators is going to do just fine if it can keep up with the high standards set by the original Lewis Barbecue. The line wrapped around the front and moved pretty quickly. Service was efficient and friendly with cold and hot sides offered first, then barbecue before being turned over to a cashier. It seems like the team has worked out their kinks ahead of opening day, so all the system awkwardness has been ironed out before today. I went solely with the sliced USDA prime beef brisket ($35/pound). It was absolutely perfect. Marbled, melt in your mouth goodness that you can cut effortlessly with a plastic fork and knife. The tallow fries and mac and cheese (each $5) were a nice accompaniment. The meal comes with dill pickles, pickled red onions, white onions and bread. There are daily specials at this location and what looks to be nachos and tacos with barbecue coming soon. I'm looking forward to sampling those on my return. But for opening day, a pitch perfect performance with food and service! read more
Delicious Texas style Bbq in Georgia! The staff so so friendly as I was the first customer through the door on the day, and they walked me through the ordering style they do. They gave me a sample of the brisket, and talked me into getting a half rack of ribs, and I'm so glad they did. The ribs were wonderful. And the fries, goodness they were great! read more
