I finally made it to this quaint and very small matcha cafe. The pictures on here make it look bigger than it is LOL so that caught me off guard. The designated parking lot is too small for the level of traffic they get, but you can easily park in the adjacent (and much larger) lot right next door and walk over. I'd say Matcha Cafe Maiko serves best as a grab-and-go, but there are about 10ish tables (only two being larger, 4-seaters iirc). I did see a high chair for anyone with babies. But I am not exaggerating when I say it can be really tight in there. I was there at 9PM when they close at 10PM and there was a line forming out the door with very few tables left. People seem to really like their matcha soft serve but I came to have their standard matcha. The first problem I had was that two digital menus advertised different prices. I asked the barista about it to which I was told they recently changed prices... perhaps take down the FIRST menu board that lists the older/lower prices? I was slightly irritated by that. Why have both on if only one reads the real prices? I was also blown away paying an extra $1 for oat milk with a relatively small drink that's already $6.50. It makes absolutely no sense to me. Unfortunately it just created more frustration in the process of ordering given the previously-mentioned price discrepancies. I was also thrown off by the fact that you can't order the matcha latte completely unsweetened (only the tea). As a place that advertises ceremonial grade matcha, you'd think that the powder wouldn't be pre-mixed with a sweetener. Hmmmmmm. While my latte was good, the husband did not like his as much. He said that the dairy milk was way too strong and completely overpowered the matcha leaving very little to taste. Again I have to ask just how "ceremonial" this matcha is (especially at its price point) if it isn't pungent enough to cut through milk. He preferred mine because the muted oat milk helped the flavor really come through. I was lowkey underwhelmed. The environment didn't help. No tissue in the bathroom. Cheap decor that should have been replaced/refreshed a while ago (paper peeling on the walls, etc). I'd only come back if I was in the area, but I'm not eager to revisit. The star here is the soft-serve it seems, and not the regular matcha.
First time eating at a matcha cafe in Atlanta and it wasn't bad. I mainly loved the aesthetic of the establishment and the ease of ordering. The ube/green tea cup we had wasn't anything too special but it still hit the spot. It definitely seemed like a chain which made sense. Not the best quality ingredients but overall pretty enjoyable.

I took a long break while I was pregnant and even before as I felt like it was almost too strong for me and made me a bit shaky and anxious. But my new postpartum body of mine is welcoming it with ease, and this matcha spot has been on my list for far too long! Another local spot that doesn't have the most inviting curb appeal, however, don't let that stop you! Parking is quite limited, so I can imagine this location can feel/get busy quickly. My bestie and I arrived at the perfect time in the early afternoon and before we knew it, there was a line all the way out the door as we were waiting for our orders. I truly came here for the matcha soft serve if I'm going to be completely honest, but then my friend pointed out their matcha tea floats and I was immediately sold! Unfortunately, the ube soft serve was not ready yet so we couldn't do the swirl, but I went with the strawberry matcha latte with almond milk and the matcha soft serve on top. Probably one the greatest treats I've had in a very long time!!! Will definitely make the trek out here again soon.
Was visiting the area and friends and I saw this location and had to stop by. Such a great vibe for a small shop, which gives it more of that mom and pops vibe even though it's a franchise. The decor is great and looks well put together. There are seats to do work, meet with friends, etc. In terms of the drinks, the matcha was really good! I loved my black sesame matcha latte and the Ube matcha latte was good too! Definitely worth a visit! Also, although I didn't order it, I saw someone order one of their ice cream type of items and it was massive and looked super delectable. It's $10 for one but it huge totally seemed worth it!

Was not bad and the gold while looks cool, just looks good for pics! It did not taste like anything. Quick service and cute ambiance. Seating was plenty! Good amount of parking in the lot outside.

On my most recent visit, they were out of vanilla soft serve, which was disappointing. The space itself feels dated now -- mismatched furniture and not enough seating, especially if you come with a group. My friend and I sat at a table, only to have a group of six pull up extra chairs right next to us minutes later, which killed the relaxing vibe. That said, the treats are still delicious -- the matcha flavors are rich, creamy, and satisfying, and the service is consistently good. Bottom line: If you're just craving a matcha fix, you'll still leave happy. But if you're looking for a cozy, comfortable spot to hang out, the cafe could use some updates to bring back the charm it once had.

I've visited this location a couple of times in the past, when they have their Black Sesame flavors on the menu (highly recommended). Today I came for the seasonal Mango Sticky Rice Sundae... it's soooooo good! It was quite busy but the service is always fast, efficient and friendly. I really like the minimalistic vibe and comfort. The is is one of the Buford Hwy places that I always keep coming back to.
All the hype about the banana pudding matcha latte just for it to be so underwhelming. Raise your hand for everytime you see people hyping something up just to be disappointed! The idea was great but the execution could have been better. It had so much potential but I didn't like the taste. It was not enjoyable and it was an expensive drink which is understandable.
Most people know of this spot from social media advertising their popular matcha ice cream. To date, the most talked about item on their menu is the banana pudding matcha drink. Im not the biggest banana girlie so I opted not to try that drink. This place is planted right in the center of the Buford Highway street that extends for miles. This location does have a small limited parking lot. So be mindful when you're coming here during peak hours. The place isn't big either and during the weekends it can be pretty packed. The barista and cashier were super friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. They have matcha ice cream pints in their freezer for purchase as well. I tried their strawberry iced matcha & let me know tell you! It did not disappoint at all! I 100 percent savored every sip of the matcha drink. Since this place has become extremely popular the prices are higher than a typical Dunkin coffee shop. I will say the price is worth it for the great experience.
I've had Maiko in California and Arizona and this was my first time seeing savories on the menu! We had just gotten lunch so we didn't get any, but super curious about them haha. Got there a few minutes before opening on a Saturday and they already had a line out the door. People sure love their matcha! I ordered a soft serve cone with the matcha and sakura mix. Sakura is a seasonal flavor. It wasn't too floral which was my fear and thought it was refreshing! I really enjoyed it and so did my husband. I just wish the matcha was a bit stronger. We also got an order of the taiyaki and it was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. They might use a bit of mochi flour in their batter which adds a nice touch. Will be returning whenever we are nearby and craving matcha! They have so many options.
The most delicious matcha soft serve I've ever had. It's creamy, still tastes of matcha, balanced with a touch of sweetness. If you're looking for authentic taste, this is for you! Their ube is also excellent - richly flavored, and again not too sweet. I highly recommend getting them swirled. Their drinks are also very good - we have had matcha, oolong, and others. The parking is a little tight right in front of the store - but there's a large lot right past it on Buford highway that has plenty of parking. The store inside is cozy with plenty seating and space. I've been to the Duluth location but not this one, which is weird because this place is closer to me. I guess I must've written it off due to the parking situation, and I honestly would've never visited, but a friend suggested coming here, so here I am. It's very, very limited parking. I'm not sure if we're *allowed* to park in the nearby parking lots, and I didn't have to, but if there's only like 6 spaces with barely enough space for cars to pass through entering and exiting... idk, it's not for me, esp when Doraville can get v traffick-y and the turn lanes are just waiting. Interior wise, it's cute. It tries to invoke a sense of Japanese aesthetic with the shoji panels, all the wood and light, the fake flowers, and I don't hate it. It's a fine place to sit and chat, though I feel bad for others who want to visit because again, the parking here sucks. I got their black sesame latte float with a matcha and sakura (seasonal flavor) swirl. The sakura was sweeter than anticipated and not floral, which was a bit disappointing since I didn't like it alone or mixing with the matcha flavor. The black sesame portion was fine. I like the nuttiness of black sesame in general, and I would've loved if they used more for a stronger flavor. Really great matcha soft serve! Not too sweet! A little disappointed that the ube machine was out of order but I still enjoyed the matcha soft serve. We went pretty soon after they opened, so maybe they were still working out kinks with their machines as the 2 matcha soft serves we ordered were quite different. Both good, but not consistent at all. One was icier with stronger matcha flavor and was much darker in color. The other was smoother, creamier, less matchey, and lighter in color. I preferred the darker one with the stronger matcha flavor a tad more. Overall, I would recommend. Good softseve either way! read more

I absolutely loved this ice cream! One of my top ice cream spots now! Service was quick and nice! The only thing I may not like so much is the location is a bit weird with the parking; and the inside of the cafe is a bit crowded but they do have plenty of seats to enjoy your matcha. read more

I've been here a couple of times, however I think I skipped it on my reviews because I think it just slipped my mind. Matcha Cafe Maiko is a small shop that serves soft serve ice cream right off of Buford highway. It's a pretty and tasty soft serve ice cream shop that is also at the same time brought down with crap parking. But! If you go on a weekday it's perfect. I would suggest if you're worried about parking to go park at another lot and just walk to it. However, going back to the ice cream, I shared a Matcha Ube swirl tea float. There was a lot of ice cream, not a lot of tea. I loved the combination though and the ube and match swirl ice cream was great. Inside is a small seat store, so this is definitely a place to have what you order and then go. The service was great, we had no issues and everyone was very friendly. Watch out for that parking, otherwise you should be good to go as far as visiting Matcha Cafe Maiko! read more
Always love the matcha desserts here! The inside is super cute and nicely decorated. I will say the matchas are on the sweeter side, but the strawberry matcha is still very delicious and tastes like fresh strawberry. I also got to try the matcha shaved ice, and it was full of matcha flavor all throughout the ice. I really enjoyed having dessert here. read more
Arguably the most authentic matcha near Atlanta on Buford Highway. I've had the matcha latte a couple of times and the Banana Pudding matcha that was actually a pretty good switch up. You are able to sit & enjoy your matcha here however seating is limited. The parking lot is small but you can park in the lots right next to it. read more

I've been seeing the "viral" banana pudding matcha all over TikTok and finally tried it! I was pleasantly surprised! Note: this wasn't on the menu I asked them and they said they had it! They presently have a special for Ube and matcha swirl ice cream! I loved it! It was absolutely beautiful and delicious! It's a small shop and it was crowded when I went. The line was about 5ish minutes but the matcha and ice cream was fast! I'll be back for sure! Free parking (it is a small lot). read more
I'm sure the matcha here is quality, but something about how they make the drinks just falls flat. The drinks are average and food is okay. The service here is not all that great either, sadly. The team members I have interacted with lack that friendliness in customer service. Wait times can be long even when not busy. Once I ordered their matcha brown sugar latte that includes boba. I requested a boba straw and the employee blankly said they don't have any. I couldn't enjoy my drink without the boba stopping the normal straw constantly. The inside is very nice though. I really liked the interior design. Parking is very limited and can fill up fast. There is a plaza next door if it's full, you can walk to the location from there. read more
FOOD Ube and Matcha Soft Serve - I love this combination of Ube and Matcha. It was not that sweet and it tasted good. Matcha Latte Float - this was a Matcha with milk topped with the soft serve. The Matcha flavor is very strong and the ice cream on top add as sweetness to the drink portion. Great quality matcha and you can taste the slight bitterness which is yummy. VIBES This is a great area to go hang out with friends and just eat some dessert. There is a nice wooden and bamboo feel with cherry blossoms. SERVICE Service is great and personable. I wanted to love this place since it markets itself as a premium matcha cafe. But honestly, the experience felt like a letdown. Instead of whisking matcha fresh (which even smaller pop-ups and "lesser" spots manage to do), they pour everything from big refrigerated plastic pitchers. To me, that defeats the whole point especially when they're selling matcha powders and whisk sets in-store! If you're going to brand yourself around authentic matcha, I'd expect it to actually be prepared properly. The matcha itself tastes fine, but it doesn't feel special for $8-10 a cup when it's essentially pre-batched. On top of that, when I went today, they were out of ice... at a drink shop? That just added to the "off" feeling. The staff seemed friendly enough but didn't seem trained on actual matcha preparation, more like they were just pouring pre-made drinks. It left me wondering if anyone working there has ever whisked matcha before. It's a shame, because the concept has potential and I was excited for an authentic matcha spot in Atlanta. Hopefully their Duluth location is better, but if the system is the same, I doubt it. For now, it feels like you're paying premium prices for a corner-cutting experience. read more

I've visited multiple locations of this chain and this location is by far my least favorite. I got the matcha late which usually they whisk at order in other locations, but is pre-mixed here. My latte was ready even before I finished paying. I also ordered taiyaki (did not take pictures) and they told me it' would take 15-20 minutes to make but after 40 minutes, they were still not done. turns out, they had forgotten. Mistakes happen, but they they could at least acknowledge it instead of telling me to keep waiting. I guess matcha in Atlanta does not have as high standard as in Seattle or New York City, so it's okay. Despite the taiyaki taking long, they were really good, warm and not too sweet. read more
There is a huge variety of matcha centeric desserts, focused on the beverage options and cold desserts. The service was pretty quick and they have a couple of seats so it's good for a small group of people to sit for a little while. read more
I had to come try the viral Banana Pudding Matcha, and it did not disappoint! I was greeted by two baristas when I walked in, one took my order and was very pleasant. The place is cute, pretty small but a few seats if you like to work from a cafe. I would say they make the matcha and put it in a pitcher, that was a bit of a turn off for me. As any coffee shop/cafe it is preferred to order to maintain quality of freshness. I cant account for how long the matcha was in the pitcher, I know it saves time but there should be an alternative. Overall my experience was great, Id give a 8/10. read more

We never begin a review without thanking our friends at Yelp for providing a platform for the voice of the customer. This weekends feature is Matcha Cafe Maiko located in Doraville, Ga. This tea house is located off of Buford Highway. Depending on the direction you are coming from don't speed otherwise you may miss it. When I walked inside a stench hit my nose that made me look around for who and what died. It smelled of unclean conditions. Once my nose adjusted I placed my order for the viral Banana Matcha latte. Sometimes IG gets it right, this time was a bust. I gave 2 stars because the drink was cold and I got it fast. The banana flavor didnt come through as strong as I hoped and it was pricey for a medium. $10 Unfortunately this Tea House will not be added to the 2025 places to try or recommend. We wish them well and hopefully, they will address the unpleasant smell that hits your nose. read more

I came in on a Sunday and was so excited to try them! I ordered an Iced Matcha Strawberry latte after the recommendation of a staff person. And it was *meh*. I honestly liked the potential of the drink- but the matcha was very dilute. I could barely taste the matcha. The cafe is cute for a casual hangout with a friend. The spot isn't really for a large group and the seating is kinda limited as well. read more

My friend and I got banana pudding sundae which was choice of matcha or banana ice cream (I got matcha), with banana pudding on top, bananas & vanilla wafers. She got banana/matcha swirl in a cone. She wanted more matcha in the cone but was given an extra cup of matcha. I should've got the matcha/banana swirl instead of just matcha cause I liked it mixed with both. The sundae was almost $10 which is a lot. I thought the sundae was decent overall. Idk if I'd come back. read more

I've gone to this matcha maiko location many times, and it has always delivered! I love the seasonal flavors offered at the cafe--they are never too "gimmicky" or nothing like promised. What you order is what you get. My personal favorite flavors they've had are ube, honeycomb, and mango. I love getting them swirled with the decadent, rich matcha that maiko is known to serve. I also adore their hojicha lattes! The picture I'm raving about today, though, is the viral banana pudding matcha latte. It is exactly what it sounds like, and it was delish! If you're not big on bananas, this one isn't for you. Personally, this was so fruity and nostalgic and paired really well with the matcha. I recommend grabbing a spoon if you're ordering this! There's quite a bit of seating in the place and even a couple of outlets. I do believe they have free wifi. The bathroom situation, though, is a bit hit or miss sometimes, but I assume it's because they get pretty busy at certain points of the day and don't get many chances to check during those times. The customer service at this location was great, it was a very friendly atmosphere. There was numerous places to sit and read a book and chat. We got the strawberry matcha lattes and there was milk substitutes (almond, oat, etc). The drink was sweet and had a good flavor, but the strawberry element was not super strong. I love matcha, and was excited to try out this Buford Highway cafe, but just found it quite disappointing. The interior of the cafe is nice enough, and there's a lot of seating, but it didn't seem particularly welcoming or clean. The employees seemed a bit miffed to be there. And most importantly, my strawberry matcha latte just wasn't very good: It had a sandy texture, but also was quite diluted. Best matcha ice cream in town! Keep in mind, they run out of ube ice cream towards the end of the day and it takes about 20mins to have them make a batch. Last couple of times I went the employees were very friendly. Parking is limited (you might have to park on the adjacent plazas and walk over) and very tight. The interior is outdated and has limited tables and chairs. It would be nice if they revamped the inside of the cafe. A good place for matcha ice cream. read more

Yes it does, but they're drinks have an option of choosing either dairy or nondairy milk
Is any of the shave ice vegan? Don't really care for drinks..
Please come in and ask for Uji Kintoki with no condensed milk. It consists of shaved ice, matcha syrup, mochi balls, and red beans.
