Java Saga has been on my must go list for a while! I literally pass by it every time I'm on Buford Highway. I finally decided to go one Saturday shortly after they opened. I decided to get the Tiger's Blood latte (hot) and one of their sandwich combos with fries. The latte, which had brown sugar syrup in it, was delicious. That Taiwanese fried chicken sandwich was next level! I mean, the chicken was fried to perfection, and the toppings, which included a fried egg, avocado, bacon, cheese, and a special sauce was divine! The only thing I didn't like were the fries. They had an interesting texture and flavor that I wasn't a fan of. Otherwise, I really enjoyed everything!
I don't know what type of hex is in this ABC sandwich but it is divine. It isn't one of the nation's best sandwiches for nothing. I highly suggest eating this in one sitting as the flavor isn't the same as leftovers. That's all I can really say lol. The food is cooked fresh to order and it is a large portion so this will probably be the only thing you eat that day. The location is a little hole in the wall and has like two seats on the inside but additional seating outdoors if you want to sit and enjoy your food on location. While we were waiting for our sandwiches a lady came and picked up a big order of fried chicken, obviously for a party or large gathering and I will say it smelled divine---maybe I should try that for my party contributions, lol. All in all please go visit. Service is courteous but do not be in a rush because again-the food is cooked to order.
Really good Taiwanese fried chicken at huge portions and friendly portions! We got two of their ABC Taiwanese fried chicken sandwiches which came with fries, and I also ordered a papaya milkshake. The milkshake was really good!! Creamy and sweet with papaya flavor, a Taiwanese classic! For the fried chicken, the chicken was LARGE and outsized the bread by a good amount. It was super crunchy yet really moist on the inside, and the crisp on the outside was really nice. It was well seasoned as well! I would say we preferred maybe getting more slaw/ a tender instead of a sandwich, as the bread and slaw were smaller in proportion to the chicken. The fries and the sauce were delicious!! I would get an extra serving of fries. For $13 or so dollars, a really great price for really good food! There is limited seating indoors, and a nice outdoor seating with plastic covering for a bit of protection from the elements. Cashiers were kind but it is mostly self serve, but they bring the food out to you. Should you need anything, they have it inside, including hand wipes!! Definitely returning and see a lot of people coming, this spot is definitely a favorite!!!
Everything was super good! The slaw was generously dressed and perfect with the mango habenero sauce on the ABC, just like the friendly, patient and helpful employee said. She knew just what to say. The Jolly Rancher was our favorite over all. We also ordered the exotic fries, they came out hot, perfectly crisp and seasoned perfectly. Drinks stood out too as a must order, the iced Chai tea latte was good for sure, the iced ginger honey was even better and the best was the iced strawberry matcha laatte.
So I can get my list for a while. You come and it's more sandwich spot than coffee spot but that's okay. It's not big at all but at the same time there are some spaces to be able to sit and eat (a couple indoor and a few outdoor). The service was good ... My first time going the person at the register was very patient and explained the items to me. It's not like there are that many but still lol. Abc chicken sandwich (combo) - So the combo comes with fries and a drink. The drink is not a fountain drink, but the drink is a bottled drink in the cooler. The fries are heavily seasoned to near perfection. They are crispy and seasoned and you don't even really need ketchup on them if you don't want. It comes with a sauce, I really wasn't sure what it was so I really can't give you the exact description of it but it wasn't bad but I rather prefer ketchup if I was going to probably take up the fries but the fries were good on their own! Now this chicken sandwich is going to have you looking at it sideways! It was perfectly crispy, sauce was on there. Spread very intensefully, the bun was soft and not overly hard or anything like that. The sandwich was spicy and had a hell of a lot of flavor to it! It was a really good sandwich! It was basically too much for the bun. The cutlet that they use was falling out of the bun and that made it even better! It came with pickles on the bottom of it where the sauce was as far as the positioning of that and the bun. So just keep that in mind. But this sandwich was absolutely awesome. I want to note that the sandwich comes as fried or grilled so I've had both. The fried one is actually good because of the savory mixed with the crunch. But if you want to not navigate the fried chicken because of oil or cholesterol, the grilled chicken is also really good as well. You throw the coleslaw on top of that, and you are golden! Diggity Dan bing - This is a crepe with eggs, cheese and bacon... Because you wouldn't know by the name LOL. So it's basically the crepes that are cut in half and served in a little box as the picture shows. They are thin as they should be, but I added bacon to mine which is only $2 more. But that made it extra savory. It was really good, I wouldn't say that you should get it as a main dish because you'll definitely be hungry, but it definitely had a good taste to it. Overall I see no flaw in this spot. It was super dope and I would and will go back again. The chicken sandwich was worth it! I got mine spicy so I had a little kick to it, they are definitely going to make me want to go back. Now. Just make sure you go back. Trying to go at a time where hopefully it won't be full as far as seating goes, but either way, the sandwich is worth it. It lives up to a lot of the hype!
This sandwich was good as hell!!! For yearsss the chicken caesar sandwich at Zaddy's has been my favorite sandwich in ATL and finally it has a rival! I ordered the Jolly Rancher sandwich (spicy) and a Dirty Chai Latte (hot). I ordered everything to go and it came out pretty quick. When I got home and finally bit into the sandwich I was in love at 1st bite. The chicken was perfectly crispy and well seasoned, the bacon perfect thickness & crisp, the slightly runny egg & avocado made the perfect sauce, and everything is encased in soft sesame buns. The whole thing is just dead on. And pretty filling. Great 1st visit!!
Saw this place on TikTok and to my surprise it was right down the street from where I was! Java Saga is a pretty small cafe & restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. This place is clearly very popular as every seat was taken, although there aren't many to begin with. I got the ABC sandwich combo that came with fries and a drink. I believe it was around $17. The sound was incredible. The chicken was large and well seasoned and came with some fresh slaw on the sandwich. The sandwich came apart probably due to the moistness of the sauce and slaw but I didn't care at that point. The fries are crinkle cut--pretty good and it comes with A LOT of fries! I'll definitely be back.
Inside Java Saga it's casual, with limited seating inside although there are also a few table outside. The food is great! I really enjoyed the flavor of the chicken and the seasoning on the fries, and when they say that some of their seasonings are spicy they mean it, which is also something I appreciate. The staff were super friendly and helpful in guiding us to the right selections.
Loved - Loved - Loved - Loved The egg Salad was wonderful. Unexpectedly delicious especially with the bacon. I was so happy to have six a yummy breakfast. Tigers blood latte is like a brown sugar latte very good Disliked / Disliked / Disliked / Disliked / Disliked / That I wasn't hungry enough to order and try out more things! I'll be back!
I didn't really get the hype of this place. Quite honestly it's rather expensive. I think I spent over $20 for a sandwich and a drink. To their benefit, I made the sandwich look bigger than it was, but realistically it's about half the size of the chicken sandwiches at the advertise on their social media. So it's kinda manipulating a customer to think they're gonna get something more than they are. As far as the sandwich, it was OK. The chicken was hot and crispy, but kind of fell flat on the seasoning. The fries definitely needed a couple more minutes in the fryer. They were pretty soggy and lacked any salt. They had like some kind of ranch powder seasoning on them, but definitely no salt. Not sure I would really go back here again as it was just OK but certainly not worth the money or the drive
My third review of this place and let me just say - everyone absolutely needs to go there right now. When I first ate at Java Saga years ago, my sentiment was they were good tasting and unique but they were life changing. I now can proudly say that they are. If you're having a good day with beautiful weather, Java Saga can make it even better. If you're having a terrible day, Java Saga can make it seem not so bad. Let's talk food - all their menu items are tasty but here are the standouts to me. 1) The ABC - it's their chicken sandwich with their slaw. The sharp, sweet taste of the slaw contasts with the crispy, tangy chicken for a satisfying bite in every bite. 2) The Loaded Fries - I eat a lot of loaded fries and I think these might be the best in their presentation and taste. The fries are crinkle cut, perfectly crispy and do not get soggy. There is bae sauce and mango habenero sauce on them along with melted cheese and chopped bacon. The ratios of each are all pretty much perfect. Everytime I come, I upgrade my Exotic fries to these. I honestly can't not get them if I am here on location. 3) Eggcited Crossaint - I had this item today. It was the last item I had for menu completion and honestly I think this their best sandwich in a fantastic lineup. I got it with the bacon. The flaky, buttery, soft crossaint contrasted wonderfully with the cold egg salad and the hot thick bacon. It likely is going to my go-to when I stop in. Go. Go now. And then go again
4 for me and 5 for my husband so I'll round it up to 5! Ordered the ABC sandwich, chick bits (popcorn chicken), danbing (egg crepe), and lu rou fan (braised pork rice). I ordered online before they opened for 11:15am pick up. When I got there at 11:16 there was already a decent line for lunch but luckily my food was ready. The sandwich was very good - refreshing slaw and crispy yet juicy chicken. Huge piece of chicken too! Would definitely get this again. Popcorn chicken was exactly how we like it - with fried basil which some places don't add. The danbing was fried which is not what we are used to in Taiwan. It was good but just not as expected, but I guess this place is more fusion than traditional. Which leads to the lu rou fan. The fatty pork belly and flavor was just how my husband likes it. The quail eggs were different but glad there were a couple there. I didn't like the pickles - usually there are yellow radish pickles but these were American style pickles. My husband didn't mind though! Overall a great to-go spot (not much seating), reasonable prices, and will definitely return.
Love this place and will always come back! Chicken is HUGE, crunchy, sooo flavorful. For $12, the combo is a steal. We ordered the Basic Chick with mango habanero sauce and their Exotic fries with an apple soda. Service was quick and food came out quickly!
The food is much bigger than you think. Each item should be shared with someone else. This was some great food. This time I got the Jolly Rancher sandwich with loaded fries. The Jolly Rancher is just too big. A giant chicken cutlet with avocado half, two eggs, large bacon strips, and a giant heaping of jalapeno ranch. Sauce and toppings went everywhere on my first bite. Smash the sandwich together and cut it into sections. It tastes great though. The loaded fries had cheese, sauce, and real bacon. The loaded fries are a meal themselves. read more

Finally made it to Java Saga to try the famous chicken sandwich. The sandwich with the apple slaw and mango habanero sauce was definitely tasty. The crust on the chicken had a lot of umami seasoning on it. Eating this was messy and my hands were covered in sauce by the end. The staff offered me wipes to clean up bc despite wiping everything off, my hands were super sticky. Is this the best chicken sandwich ever? I'm not sure. I may actually be super boring and prefer the traditional. It was tasty thought and for me, a specific craving. I got an iced honey ginger tea as well which was clearly fresh and was really good. They have a few tables right by the counter, and a few more outside. They have heaters and plastic tarps to keep the outside warm. read more

I noticed Java Saga's new Jolly Rancher burger and decided to give it a try, especially with the spend $20 and get free Taiwanese popcorn chicken promotion. The price is on the higher side, but the promo made it worth trying. The burger portion was generous -- a large piece of grilled spicy chicken, crispy bacon, a fried egg, and avocado. Everything came together better than expected. One bite in, it was juicy and flavorful, and the combination was surprisingly good. I ordered the combo with fries, and they included a white sauce that paired nicely with them. The free popcorn chicken was fried golden and still juicy inside. Overall, other than being a bit pricey, I don't really have any complaints. Solid food and a pleasant surprise. read more

I enjoyed Java Saga. I had the ABC sandwich and the loaded fries, both of which were huge orders. The chicken sandwich was so big I decided to go the knife and fork route. A tasty spot and I'm sure I'll be back. read more
My husband showed me a TikTok of this place and I was sold. It's in a small strip on Buford Hwy. The restaurant is small but I love all the plants that have leading to the door. Lots of parking and it's very easy to find. The portions are huge and the food is so well seasoned. I loved the chicken sandwich with the apple slaw and spicy sauce. It was sooo good. My daughter really like the nuggets with the fried basil. My only critique is they don't have a public bathroom so be aware. All in all, the food is delicious and the prices are very reasonable. Great crispy batter for the chicken and very filling. Service was quick and efficient. You order at the counter, and there's limited seating since it's a smaller business. Everything tastes great, and the ambiance feels like a family owned business. Solid 9.5/10 read more
I came for the Taiwanese chicken, which was good, but I left STILL thinking about their "eggcited croissant" that I got as well as their loaded fries. I cannot stress how YUMMY everything was. Out of all fry types, crinkle isn't my preference, but loaded?? I don't care what kind of fry it is, the sauces, cheese, and bacon on top made it super tasty and filling. I cannot wait to come here again. --So, I did return (within a week!), and it was once again amazingly fresh and delicious! I will say, their Lou Ro Fan isn't as standout as everything else. It wasn't as packed with flavor in comparison to other menu items I've had, though it is still good. Love this place all the same. Notes: parking is fine. Busy during lunch. Pretty small space with limited seating. Drink menu is more extensive than what's on the board. Mango yogurt was good, though I finished it before the food came out. *If you order the eggcited croissant with bacon, double check it. read more
I wish there was more indoor seating that wasn't at a bar level but aside from that this was great. The friendliest staff looking out for us, a delicious bubble tea and good chicken. I'd say it is unique as well. The taste wasn't 100% my flavor but that's on me not the restaurant. I loved the fries seasoning. Will definitely come back next time I'm in the area. read more

Was in the mood for some Taiwanese nuggets and Java Saga did not disappoint! The chicken sandwich is made with the same batter and is SO good! Everyone working there was super friendly and even with it being a smaller space, they made sure to check on and take care of all of their customers equally. I'll definitely be back! read more
Great food, great price! I've heard so much about Java Saga and finally got around to trying it. I'm a huge fan of taiwanese fried chicken, so when my friends told me that Java Saga has it in a sandwich form, I got so excited! The basic chick is $8 for a big sandwich where the chicken filet overflows - it's flavorful, served fresh, and hits the spot. I also got to try their loaded fries which were also good and came in a massive portion. It took them a bit to get the food out, but I assume they make it fresh. There's lots of other menu items that I'd like to try! Little to no seating, this is mostly a to-go place. Plenty of parking! read more

The chicken was extremely fresh and juicy and spicy! The fries were delicious! I love that the food was made to order and is consistently good. The slaw on my chicken sandwich really combined well with the crispy chicken. I didn't feel like I was getting tired of eating it. I am a huge French frie girly and I would come back just for the fries alone. The sauce tasted like some kind of aioli and it was bland but the fries don't really need any dipping sauce cause they're super seasoned or some ketchup would be lovely. The chicken bites were good too! The place is really small though and it's always super hot in there so I wouldn't recommend eating there read more
ORDER Chick Bits - it was very crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Chicken is cooked and seasoned, and the basil made it taste even better. Exotic Fries - the fries are well seasoned and the white sauce it came with made it taste really good. Vietnamese Latte - it's called a Vietnamese latte, but it really is just a Vietnamese coffee. It is a bit on the sweeter side and you could definitely taste the condensed milk. It's not as strong as typical Vietnamese coffee but still pretty good. VIBES Inside the place is pretty small with some limited seating options near the window and close to the register. There is more seating outside that includes a tall table as well as three or four smaller tables. The decorate the outside with Christmas lights, and there are lots of plants which give a nice outdoor vibe. SERVICE Service is great! Officially my favorite chicken place in Atlanta. Consistently hot, fresh, and delicious with the most generous portions. The people who work there are always kind and the food always comes out fast even though they're usually pretty busy. I took my little sister here because she was visiting and got all my favorites, and she agreed it's amazing Taiwanese chicken. read more

Java Saga blew us away with their chicken sandwiches. Tucked away in a small strip plaza on Buford Highway, it's easy to find with plenty of free parking. The interior is cozy with minimal seating, so the covered outdoor patio is the best place to sit and enjoy your food. We placed our order at the counter and were impressed with how fast and friendly the service was. I went with the ABC sandwich and exotic fries, and added their signature spicy powder to the chicken for a little kick. The portion sizes were generous. The sandwich was juicy, crispy, and huge, with the slaw served on the side. The fries were perfectly coated with seasoning, and honestly didn't even need a sauce. I got their Chicken Bits and Lu Rou Fan for takeout. The service was very quick and efficient and both dishes were delicious. The chicken bits were crispy and very well seasoned and the Lu Rou was very juicy and tender. Both dishes were well-portioned. As for the ambiance, the location is small, very decorated, and stylish. Tiny little place hidden in the corner of an unassuming strip mall. Got the ABC sandwich and the Chicken Bites. The seasoning here is different than other Taiwanese fried chicken places I have tried. I think it's a little sweeter, but also a little saltier. The chicken itself is nice and juicy, tender. The chicken in the sandwich was much bigger than I expected. I really enjoyed the slaw in the ABC sandwich also, it was different and a little refreshing with the bits of apples in it. Overall, enjoyed it. Java Saga is hands down one of the BEST chicken sandwiches EVER. Java Saga is located in a small little strip mall on Buford Highway with plentiful free parking. There is a plastic tarp on the patio to cover seating outside as the inside is pretty small with 5 seats and wouldn't really eat inside. The outside has maybe 10 or so seats. We ordered inside at the counter and service was quick and easy! We ordered 2 ABC sandwiches and the exotic fries! We also got the powder spicy on the chicken. I was worried that wasn't enough food but we were stuffed! Food took maybe 8 or so mins but you could literally smell the food being made from outside! They brought it out to us as we ordered to go and it was packaged so nicely! The ABC sandwich had the slaw on the side to not make the sandwich soggy! The ABC sandwich was SO GOOD and the chicken was HUGE. About the size of 3 CFA chicken filets. The powder spicy had about the same heat as a mild buffalo wing and highly recommend it. Honestly so good. No notes. The fries were seasoned so well with all fries having seasoning on them! I hate nothing more than an unseasoned fry! The little dipping sauce I found to be aight but the fries didn't need a sauce! For around $30 for 2 people, I am DEFINITELY coming back ASAP. read more

Fries were immaculate. Enough to share with 4 people. The chicken sandwich the chicken was bigger than the bun which I liked. The sauce is spicy and more to the middle. The server was a little rude. We arrived a little before opening and the guy let us in and the cashier got mad that we came in. The inside is small, but there is seating outside. read more
