Just wanted to shout them out for the recent Halloween decor they put out in this establishment. Very spooky and on theme as they changed their overhead monitor menu as well. This place is also a great place to study with wifi, clean solo bathrooms, and snacks and drinks to enjoy while you lock in. OR you can take a study break and enjoy the restaurants around which include Arepas, Tacos, and Korean Tofu soups. Parking is plenty in the parking lot as it shares with other restaurants in the plaza. Staff here is very kind and friendly. Service is pretty quick and efficient. This place has been my consistent spot for my Board Game friends as we gather here weekly. Food and drinks are ok. Be aware that in order to use card, you must spend at least 8$. Makes it a little annoying but I understand so when coming here... plan to order more for a friend or order a bite with your drink. read more

Tried the cuckoos milk tea and Thai tea here! The cuckoos milk tea is apparently a combo of oolong and black tea with milk tea added. It was very sugary kinda syrupy - I'd recommend getting less sugar with it or just going for the brown sugar if you want something sweet. I had both the iced and hot Thai tea. Surprisingly, the hot Thai tea was pretty good. The iced one was still really sweet. Service was quick and it was fairly busy for a weekday night - most tables were taken by students with their laptops out so it's a great study place! Free parking in the lot. read more

I got the strawberry matcha and Taiwanese chicken nuggets extra spicy. Both are excellent. I got cheese foam on the matcha instead of regular whipped cream, and I got 50% sweetness instead of 75%. Im glad I did, but if you like super sweet get the higher percentages. The service was fast and the lady answered all 3819 of my questions. It's been awhile since I came back to Cuckoo's cafe at this location, I completely missed the news that they renovated the inside. It looks more inviting and I can see why people come here to work, school, etc. I got the mango yakult drink, Taiwanese chicken nuggets, and doughnuts. They were all pretty good and I will definitely try to keep this cafe in mind following a near nearby on Buford Highway. This was my first time ever visiting this establishment and, with the treatment we received, cannot say I will be coming back again. The space as a whole is nice, situated on the main drag of Buford Highway. However, it is quite small and the tables are close together. Then you get to the cash register. There are literally so many signs with rules and restrictions for ordering I almost turned around and left, then and there. One sign states "we cannot give refunds or exchanges for food and drinks." Another sign says "for milk teas, matcha lattes and coffee drinks, minimum ice is half. No ice is available but we charge $0.50 extra." Yet another sign says "no AMEX, card minimum $5." And finally, the last sign says "we do not accept outside gift cards, including visa gift cards." Man, you'd think you were in a library with all the notices being thrown at you. Like I said, if I hadn't been with a group who had already agreed on coming here, I would've walked out due to the overwhelming amount of information at the register. I would also like to add here- it is pretty uncommon to only offer the minimum ice level as half, let alone charge extra for no ice. As someone who visits lots of boba stores and cafes, all over the country, most can do no ice for free, no problem. They also charge $0.75 per topping on top of their already expensive milk teas ($6.50). I would say this definitely puts them at the top range of milk tea prices. You can definitely find cheaper milk tea prices around Atlanta. Anyways, my friend and I went ahead and ordered a wintermelon milk tea and chicken nuggets while we waited for our group to arrive. Although we gave the store a heads up before coming, they could not promise us a reservation, making it difficult for our group to sit together to mingle. Nevertheless, we did appreciate them letting us use their space, so we asked everyone to purchase at least 1 item from the shop to show support. Although we asked for one item, many people purchase at least a drink and a food item, with one friend purchasing 5 food items. Just a quick glance at the menu will tell you drinks are about $7.25. The food items ranged from $5ish to $15ish depending on what you ordered. I would say most people ordered nuggets if they ordered with a drink, which brings their total to around $15 per person and we had about 20 people. We only used the space for maybe 2 hours max, were very respectful and made sure to pick up trash/move back chairs and tables if they had been moved. Which is why what happens next is such a let down. Despite my group providing *lots* of business and being respectful to the other patrons, the restaurant made it very clear that they did not appreciate our business. One of my friends, the one who bought 5 packs of nuggets ($40 worth) was trying to share with the other people. Since we were all spread out, it would've been easier to have like an extra bowl or bag to distribute the food (they came in one bag each with toothpicks). I went to the front to ask for an extra bowl, or something that we could pour some of the nuggets in so we could pass it around. Well...they refused. At first I thought they were confused- I didn't want a to-go box or anything, just like a plate or bowl so we could have multiple places for people to eat from. The lady continued to refuse, saying "we don't give out our bowls/boxes." Baffled, especially since we just brought them so much business, I said "what do you mean? We're just trying to share the food we bought from *your* restaurant." It didn't matter, she said "no, I am not giving you anything." She did end up giving me about 5 more toothpicks to share from, but that's not the point. You can have 20 toothpicks but if the bowl of nuggets is clear on the other side of the room, that doesn't do you any good. I was appalled by their attitude, considering how much business we brought them, that they could not spare even *1* single bowl for my friends and I to share with. Hands down, my favorite boba place during my Georgia trip and I went to a different boba shop every day! I got my usual Passion Fruit tea and a snack, the Osaka Chicken Nuggets. The designs on the cups were so cute! It has chickens on it. The Osaka Chicken Nuggets were savory and crispy. The sauce was nice and rich and definitely nailed the takoyaki element. The Passion Fruit tea tasted better than the other ones that I usually get. They do not put that much ice in their drinks either. This local joint was great! This is such a cute little cafe to get a nice drink and have a chat with a friend. We sat in a little booth that you can curtain off. There were lots of people studying around us, so it seems conducive to that if you need a quiet place to go. This is one of my favorite places to catch up with a friend or to study. They have many outlets and wifi. There is also a good amount of seating. Last Wednesday, I visited Cuckoos Cafe and had a lovely experience. The place is really beautiful, and the staff is great. Each table has a charging point, making it perfect for working. The ambiance is very pretty. It used to be a tea house that I frequented before the pandemic, and I loved the seating arrangement back then. They've kept the same arrangement, which is fantastic. The service was pretty quick after we ordered, and food came shortly after. Purely food based review: Spicy Sausage Bento Box - Great option if you loved eating Chinese sausages growing up and it comes with some Taiwanese chicken nuggets too. Tastes pretty authentic. Hawaiian Chicken Nuggets - They serve a bunch of different flavors of their Taiwanese chicken and this one intrigued us. We wouldn't really recommend it though as it's just a slightly sweet sauce and eventually gets mushy. Mango Milk Tea - I love places that do this drink, tastes very creamy, very yummy, highly recommend getting with 75% sugar. It was a simplistic order. I ordered a Taiwanese popcorn chicken, along with pork egg sandwich. And damn, Cuckoo's Cafe just throws it down always and it doesn't matter about location. The only thing I would say is that this location is a bit spicier than the location in Duluth. The pork egg sandwich is fried pork and then they top it off with onions and also a sweet sort of mayo along with an egg. It's pretty delicious. If you're only getting ONE dish, I would have to say hands down the Taiwanese popcorn chicken would be my recommendation. I hope this place stays and gets a ton of business because it just makes availability for me even better. The food was banging and always a winner when it comes to get a popcorn chicken. Popular Cuckoo's Cafe of Duluth has opened a second location on Buford Highway in Doraville in the former Tea House Formosa space (http://bit.ly/38Gqrmt). It's in the "Korean Town" two-story strip with Be Banh Mi and Yen Jing, behind Matcha Cafe Maiko. The original Cuckoo's Cafe in Gwinnett opened in September 2020 and this Doraville location quickly followed suit with their official grand opening on February 27, 2021. They were in soft-open mode before then. This is a locally-owned Taiwanese tea and snack cafe. That's what Tea House Formosa was too, but Cuckoo's has a completely different style and menu. I'm really only making this comparison because Cuckoo's happened to take over the old Formosa space. Tea House Formosa tried to "elevate" the bubble tea experience to a certain degree (e.g. nicer, more restaurant-like decor and furniture, tea served in teapots, teacups, and glasses, etc.). Cuckoo's brings it back to the basics and, as I wrote in my review for the Duluth location (https://bit.ly/3mgChvi), it's cut more in the mold of Quickly and Sweet Hut. The interior largely resembles Tea House Formosa. The layout is the same and I think they might be using the same furniture too, though they have made some changes. Examples include the entryway which now features a photogenic Cuckoo's Cafe branded seating area and a couple modern-looking booths near the order counter (which I think are new). All in all, the space looks nice, clean, and comfortable. It's a great meetup spot. Note they do not have any outside or patio seating. The menu consists of over 25 flavored teas and milk teas ($4.50 or $4.99 each), six fruit "tea cocktails" ($5.50 each), slushies and yogurt drinks ($4.99 each), real fruit smoothies ($6.50 each), and hot drinks, like honey citron tea and honey jujube tea ($3.99 each). There are over a dozen topping choices (e.g. chia seeds, egg pudding, assorted jellies, popping passion fruit) and those cost either $0.50 or $0.75 extra per topping. In addition, Cuckoo's offers $6.50 Frappuccinos, $4.99 spritzes, and specialty drinks like dalgona coffee (the whipped "400x" creamy coffee, $4.99). On the food side, it's a lot of fried snacks and street-food-type items, most priced in the $3.99 to $6.99 range. Things like Taiwanese Chicken Nuggets (their most popular item), Taiwanese Sausage, Fish Cakes, and Takoyaki. They serve bento boxes too, most $10.99 each, with meats such as chicken and pork cutlets and minced pork. At this location, for drinks, I tried Cuckoo's Matcha Milk Tea ($4.99) with cheese foam (+$0.75) and red bean (also extra, not on the menu) as well as their Mango Tango ($5.50) fruit tea cocktail made with mango jam, lemon, and grapefruit. I had the Matcha Milk Tea at less sweet (75% of default sweetness) because I prefer less sweet drinks. I got the Mango Tango at default sweetness (100%) at manager Coco's recommendation. In general, I like cheese foam drinks. The other manager, Tammy, told me that they had recently changed their cheese foam recipe. I tasted the foam first before mixing it into the drink, like I normally do, and it was good. Definitely different from the cheese foam at other tea shops. What made Cuckoo's cheese foam unique was it wasn't nearly as salty as the other places. Its flavor was more subtle and balanced. As for mouthfeel, it was right up there in terms of richness and creaminess. Good stuff. I'm not sure they put enough red bean in my drink, but what was there was on par with other red bean I've had at places like Kung Fu Tea and Sharetea. The Mango Tango had lots of real bits of fresh fruit in it. I got some in every sip. Overall, the drink was good quality and I enjoyed it. The only fruit that couldn't be sucked through the straw was the lemon. Those were sliced. I like how you're able to suck the fruit through the straw. I can appreciate the other fruit teas that have bigger pieces of fruit inside. Those drinks certainly look nicer, but they're not as easy or practical when actually consuming the fruit. I liked both the Mango Tango and Matcha Milk Tea and would get them again. On the food side, I tried the Taiwanese Pork Chop Sandwich ($5.99) since I hadn't tried this one yet from Cuckoo's. It's similar to Cuckoo's Chicken Sandwich. The pork version is made with a deep-fried pork chop (pan-fried is also an option) topped with a fried egg and homemade pickled vegetable slaw on a toasted sesame bun. I also tried the Fried Tofu with garlic soy sauce and the same homemade pickled slaw. Not to be confused with the Tofu Puffs, this one wasn't on the menu yet when I tried it. The sandwich was satisfying, the pork quite tasty. The slaw in both items was just as delicious as the Duluth location. The bottom bun of the sandwich got soggy, however, so I think they should figure out a solution for that. The Fried Tofu was yummy. Hot, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and savory. Cuckoo's Cafe is another must-visit small business for some great tasting milk teas, a variety of other types of drinks, and many snacks and food items to fill your belly! This place has been open for less than 2 months, and it looks like everything has settled into an organized and capably run restaurant. R and I came here for a couple of milk teas in the afternoon earlier this week. Parking was easy to find, and I'm sure that parking spaces are always available. The theming for Cuckoo's Cafe is very cutesy, with the use of what looks like a baby chicken incorporated into its logos. The employees wear face masks. All the customers that I saw come into the restaurant also wore face masks. Indoor dining is available and allowed. Although we didn't stay to enjoy our drinks, the seats looked very comfortable. The employees were very quick and efficient. The whole restaurant looked clean and well maintained. I ordered a coconut milk tea, light on the ice, 50% sugar, and regular boba. R ordered a black milk tea with light ice, and regular boba. Our drinks were ready within 5 minutes, and were made exactly how we ordered them, and were very refreshing on a warm afternoon. The boba here are thick and chewy. The plastic cups used for tea are well made, almost like souvenir cups. I'd like to come back and try some of the snacks here, especially the Taiwanese chicken nuggets and see how they compare to the chicken nuggets at Quickly, which I think are pretty darn good. read more

Awesome place for great tea and snacks. Cuckoo's cafe sits where Tea House Formosa used to be. I had super high expectations since I loved Tea House Formosa and I'm happy that Cuckoo's was able to reach them. Parking is really easy to find and the place still has the old decor and seating which is a little rustic and very cute with the addition of chicken stuffed animals, stickers, and even a cute chicken light on the wall. We ordered an oolong milk tea with boba and a winter melon milk tea with boba, both at 75% sweetness, and a side of their chicken nuggets. I absolutely loved the winter melon milk tea. Their drinks are on the sweeter side, so I thought it was a good choice to bring down the sweetness to 75%. (I have a sweet tooth so if you don't like your milk teas super sweet I recommend dropping it down to 50% even). The boba was alright, nothing special, but the tea was so good, I can't wait to come back and try it again! The chicken nuggets reminded me of my grandparent's chicken nuggets so it was a really nice taste of home. They were perfectly seasoned and the bag was filled to the brim. I can't remember specifically how much the pricing was, but I think the teas were about $4.50 and the chicken was about $5. Pretty standard compared to other places so that didn't really stand out to me. Overall, I can't wait to come back again and try more of their menu! read more

Stopped by for takeout after hearing about this new cafe on buhi. Apparently there's another location in duluth. Got the minced pork bento, pork chop bento, chicken cutlet sandwich, and combo appetizer Togo. I think the flavors were good and prices were affordable enough. Although I do wish there was more minced pork in the bento. The cashier was very nice and the decor is left mostly the same from the old tea house Formosa that used to be here but with a cuter flare. They also have a variety of fruit and milk teas as well. Hope everyone check it out somewhere and support buhi small businesses! read more

This is a new cafe that replaced Tea House Formosa. They're currently having a soft opening with 10% off drinks. We got the Fruitarian and Snap Dragon tea cocktails with lychee jelly. The cashier recommended no less than 75% sweet, which is what we went with but was still on the sweet side imo. The spicy chicken sandwich and spicy chicken cutlet were decent. I really liked the corn nuggets- they were pretty unique! Overall, still would give it a 4/5 and would plan to come back to try some other food and drinks! read more

This location is where the former Tea House Formosa was. The tables are still the same, but the register set up is now at the counter. They have lots of drink options as well as food options. I ordered an Oolong Milk Tea, the Cuckoo's Chicken Sandwich, and their Taiwanese Chicken Nuggets both in mild. Just a note** they have a minimum of $8 for card payments. The oolong milk tea is just okay. Comparing it to other boba shops in the area, it's not as flavorful of a tea taste. I do like the packaging on the cups, you could possibly reuse it for something else lol. The Cuckoo's Chicken Sandwich I got in mild was good. The sauce tasted like gochujang, a Korean chili paste. The Taiwanese Chicken Nuggets reminds me of Quickly's Chicken Nuggets, which are the bomb! I feel like Cuckoo's portions are much bigger or the same amount. They taste identical that you wouldn't be able to tell the difference! I would love to come back and try their different snack options as well. This place could be a good study spot as well. read more
