Tried the cuckoos milk tea and Thai tea here! The cuckoos milk tea is apparently a combo of oolong and black tea with milk tea added. It was very sugary kinda syrupy - I'd recommend getting less sugar with it or just going for the brown sugar if you want something sweet. I had both the iced and hot Thai tea. Surprisingly, the hot Thai tea was pretty good. The iced one was still really sweet. Service was quick and it was fairly busy for a weekday night - most tables were taken by students with their laptops out so it's a great study place! Free parking in the lot.
I got the strawberry matcha and Taiwanese chicken nuggets extra spicy. Both are excellent. I got cheese foam on the matcha instead of regular whipped cream, and I got 50% sweetness instead of 75%. Im glad I did, but if you like super sweet get the higher percentages. The service was fast and the lady answered all 3819 of my questions. The chicken made me a little nervous because it looked dry, but it was so good the cafe is so cute and people were there studying, playing chess, and just having a great time. I'll definitely be back
Great cafe to study or get work done. Free wifi with purchase and plenty of seating. Cute and quirky decor too. Snap dragon drink: really good fruit tea! Refreshing for a hot day. Spicy chicken sandwich: very good sandwich with Taiwanese fried chicken flavor. Tasty slaw for refreshing contrast. Sausage bento: wished they used TW sausage instead of italian sausage for authenticity but its fine lol. Would return for the sandwich and drinks.
This was my first time ever visiting this establishment and, with the treatment we received, cannot say I will be coming back again. The space as a whole is nice, situated on the main drag of Buford Highway. However, it is quite small and the tables are close together. Then you get to the cash register. There are literally so many signs with rules and restrictions for ordering I almost turned around and left, then and there. One sign states "we cannot give refunds or exchanges for food and drinks." Another sign says "for milk teas, matcha lattes and coffee drinks, minimum ice is half. No ice is available but we charge $0.50 extra." Yet another sign says "no AMEX, card minimum $5." And finally, the last sign says "we do not accept outside gift cards, including visa gift cards." Man, you'd think you were in a library with all the notices being thrown at you. Like I said, if I hadn't been with a group who had already agreed on coming here, I would've walked out due to the overwhelming amount of information at the register. I would also like to add here- it is pretty uncommon to only offer the minimum ice level as half, let alone charge extra for no ice. As someone who visits lots of boba stores and cafes, all over the country, most can do no ice for free, no problem. They also charge $0.75 per topping on top of their already expensive milk teas ($6.50). I would say this definitely puts them at the top range of milk tea prices. You can definitely find cheaper milk tea prices around Atlanta. Anyways, my friend and I went ahead and ordered a wintermelon milk tea and chicken nuggets while we waited for our group to arrive. Although we gave the store a heads up before coming, they could not promise us a reservation, making it difficult for our group to sit together to mingle. Nevertheless, we did appreciate them letting us use their space, so we asked everyone to purchase at least 1 item from the shop to show support. Although we asked for one item, many people purchase at least a drink and a food item, with one friend purchasing 5 food items. Just a quick glance at the menu will tell you drinks are about $7.25. The food items ranged from $5ish to $15ish depending on what you ordered. I would say most people ordered nuggets if they ordered with a drink, which brings their total to around $15 per person and we had about 20 people. We only used the space for maybe 2 hours max, were very respectful and made sure to pick up trash/move back chairs and tables if they had been moved. Which is why what happens next is such a let down. Despite my group providing *lots* of business and being respectful to the other patrons, the restaurant made it very clear that they did not appreciate our business. One of my friends, the one who bought 5 packs of nuggets ($40 worth) was trying to share with the other people. Since we were all spread out, it would've been easier to have like an extra bowl or bag to distribute the food (they came in one bag each with toothpicks). I went to the front to ask for an extra bowl, or something that we could pour some of the nuggets in so we could pass it around. Well...they refused. At first I thought they were confused- I didn't want a to-go box or anything, just like a plate or bowl so we could have multiple places for people to eat from. The lady continued to refuse, saying "we don't give out our bowls/boxes." Baffled, especially since we just brought them so much business, I said "what do you mean? We're just trying to share the food we bought from *your* restaurant." It didn't matter, she said "no, I am not giving you anything." She did end up giving me about 5 more toothpicks to share from, but that's not the point. You can have 20 toothpicks but if the bowl of nuggets is clear on the other side of the room, that doesn't do you any good. I was appalled by their attitude, considering how much business we brought them, that they could not spare even *1* single bowl for my friends and I to share with. Needless to say, they will not be getting any more of my business ever.
I've passed by Cuckoo's Cafe so many times and finally decided to check it out! So happy I did because they have Taiwanese Chicken Cutlets which are my absolute favorite. I got the Spicy one and it was seasoned to perfection. As a spice lover with high tolerance, this was just the right amount of spice and I loved every bite. A chicken thigh is fried to perfection, while staying both juicy and crispy. Definitely recommend trying this! A bit steep at $9 but unlike any other.
Nice place to study! Plenty of seating for big groups and individuals. I believe I got a strawberry slushie with lychee jelly and it was delicious. Remember you can pick your sweetness level, I ordered mine a little too sweet but it was good! They have a huge item selection on their menu which is always great to have. There was plenty of parking in the lot and the place is open until late.
Drinks 2/5 but Food and Ambience 4.5/5! Not sure if it was just the Yakult drinks but my drink ended up tasting super diluted. The chicken nuggets and garlic soy fried tofu are the perfect snack and a must try!
I haven't had issues with food or drinks. I usually come for the drinks and they have a great drink selection. Their ambiance is great. This is my study spot. They recently renovated the space so there's a lot more booths now and seating. They also added more charging ports. The owner is super sweet. I think she's the owner. She might be the manager. That's besides the point. I was here two weeks ago and she went around personally to all the customers letting them know that there is going to be renovations. Today, I was looking at charging ports and she helped me locate all the charging ports around the cafe.
We absolutely love to stop here when we are in the area. Their drinks are very good in a city filled with options for great Boba. My favorite is the brown sugar milk tea with classic Boba. We also love their strawberry Matcha. Their cheese foam taste like a slice of cheesecake straight from New York.
This is such a cute little cafe to get a nice drink and have a chat with a friend. We sat in a little booth that you can curtain off. There were lots of people studying around us, so it seems conducive to that if you need a quiet place to go. The owner (or manager) came up to me and asked if I was warm enough (it was a chilly day), and I thought that was so kind and considerate! My taro bubble tea was delightful and HUGE. I got it at half the sugar level, which was still plenty sweet. I'd definitely return if I was in the area!
Hands down, my favorite boba place during my Georgia trip and I went to a different boba shop every day! I got my usual Passion Fruit tea and a snack, the Osaka Chicken Nuggets. The designs on the cups were so cute! It has chickens on it. The Osaka Chicken Nuggets were savory and crispy. The sauce was nice and rich and definitely nailed the takoyaki element. The Passion Fruit tea tasted better than the other ones that I usually get. They do not put that much ice in their drinks either. This local joint was great! Hopefully, I can stop by sometime in the future if I'm ever in the area.
Good food & drink with cute little seating nooks that would be perfect for sitting and studying. We got the fruitarian and taro teas, the pork sandwich, zesty chicken nuggets with garlic and spicy mayo (recommend!!) and the popcorn shrimp. Everything was a hit except for the shrimp, which tasted cheap with a lackluster batter.
Cute shop for bubble tea and snack food. Would recommend trying their chicken (taiwanese-style fried chicken) and fried tofu, which come as bite-sized pieces, crispy, and well seasoned. Portions are enough for 2 people to share as a snack. The drinks are pretty standard for bubble tea around here. Range of options with milk teas and fruity teas, with ability to adjust for sweetness and ice level. *Credit card has an $8 minimum, just one drink or snack will likely not meet that minimum.* Also has a good cafe ambience for working/studying. There are plenty of tables and accessible outlets, along with a few small booths (with semi-sheer curtains for some privacy).
This is a new cafe that replaced Tea House Formosa. They're currently having a soft opening with 10% off drinks. We got the Fruitarian and Snap Dragon tea cocktails with lychee jelly. The cashier recommended no less than 75% sweet, which is what we went with but was still on the sweet side imo. The spicy chicken sandwich and spicy chicken cutlet were decent. I really liked the corn nuggets- they were pretty unique! Overall, still would give it a 4/5 and would plan to come back to try some other food and drinks! read more
This is a cute spot on Buford hwy! They have plenty of parking and a lot of seating. The ambiance is nice but it is a bit warm inside. I got the brown sugar milk tea and it was on par with some of my favorite places. You get a good amount for the price too. Definitely try this place out! read more
Stop reading this review and go get a mango milk tea. Alright, got your MMT? Good. Have a nice day. Oh wait, no no - go back. Get yourself a pork chop sandwich. Sorry about that. OH wait I forgot the Taiwanese Chicken Nuggets! And the Taiyaki for dessert! Sorry about that yea, now you should be good. So I love this place. I stopped by randomly and now I make sure to pass by for at least a mango milk tea every time I'm in the area - it's the best I've ever had. Honestly it's the best milk tea I've ever had period. The staff here is nice, the online system is perfect for ordering (though smoothies ordered will not be made until you walk in the door just to keep them from melting - they make them CRAZY quick though), all in all - "You're coocoo if you don't go to Cuckoo's" ....yea that was bad, sorry about that. But seriously, go here, they're amazing. read more

I came here on a Saturday afternoon. It was my first time, so I was unsure what to order. They staff was very helpful and gave suggestions. I ended up getting a brown sugar milk tea, which was my first one; it was delicious. I also ordered the zesty bites chicken nuggets... I give them a 10/10. Flavorful, hot, perfect seasoning. I sat in to eat both, and they have nice seating, so you can chill comfortably. There is plenty of parking in the area. I am excited to go back to try some other items. Recommended! The drinks are pretty good; I normally order the oolong milk tea. The tapioca is usually a good chewy texture but there are times when it is hard. As for food I have tried the bento boxes and chicken nuggets. The bento boxes are okay, I wouldn't go o it if my way to order one if not already here. The garlic soy chicken nuggets however are so addictive!! I have ordered the spicy nuggets once which were so spicy I could only eat two so be warned. When there are big groups it can get loud and gets hard to focus and study if you don't have noise canceling earbuds/headphones. There are some big tables and small tables here with power outlets, so definitely an option for studying here. It's super cute inside and they are normally playing K-pop! The staff here is also pretty nice and welcoming. read more

1 star: Oolong Milk Tea was mostly milk (see pic) so you're basically drinking milk. Milk tea is "just ok" here. They do not accept cards if your order is less than $8. They don't take AMEX. The restroom has an odor that comes through the seating area. 2 stars: Food snack options are great! Great place to hang out and also a good option to work/study in... most places are either/or but this one brings both crowds. Good and cozy vibes. Good for families, couples, and the solo crowds. The seating areas are mostly clean. read more

Having been a regular of the former tenant that occupied this space in its early days, I was curious what Cuckoo's Cafe was cooking up at the place I had my first tieguanyin with cheese foam (RIP butter creamers). I'm guessing Tea House Formosa, aforementioned tenant, switched ownership between its opening and closing, because the menu and layout changed in weird ways that led to its ultimate demise. Cuckoo's Cafe fixed some of the strangeness of navigating the space and brought back tasty Taiwanese snacks. Visiting Cuckoo's Cafe as part of Daniel B.'s continued UYE series (altered to accommodate take-out during the COVID-19 pandemic), I wanted to really support the business by trying a variety of items. I visited with my mom, sister, and son, and we ordered the chicken nuggets, corn nuggets, pork dumplings, (fried) spring rolls, Taiwanese sausages, chicken cutlet bento box, and the crabby sandwich (totally my sister, because I don't do seafood). We liked everything, especially with the appetite we'd worked up perusing art at The High just before arriving. My sister got the fried chicken sandwich by accident but when she brought it to the attention of the woman who gave her her order, the error was quickly corrected and she scored a freebie in the process. The stand-out were the corn nuggets. Chicken nuggets were tasty, though not so much more so than Taiwanese chicken nuggets that I can get at numerous places in the area. I was just so-so on the spring rolls, since I don't like mushrooms. Dumplings were pretty standard fried ones. The bento box we had the next day and it was still delicious (with the cutlet thrown into the oven to crisp it up). Taiwanese sausages were the typical sweet ones that you find at other Taiwanese snack places. My sister said her crab sandwich was tasty and perfectly fried. We felt that way about all the fried items. There was no greasy feeling while we ate them. We'll be back for more snacks! read more
TLDR: The best hot, fresh, and crispy Taiwanese chicken nuggets but mediocre boba A new boba and snack joint on Buford!! For food, I got the Taiwanese chicken nuggets which were so amazing! They're piping hot as they're made to order and the flavor is delish. Also ordered the brown sugar boba milk tea and the oolong milk tea with red bean and boba. The tea was decent but for some reason the boba texture was off - they were partially chewy but the inside didn't feel like it was cooked all the way through. read more
Got the peach green tea which was soo refreshing and sweet! I also got the lychee jelly (one free topping) but there didn't seem to be a lot at all. Atmosphere is very cute (comfy couches) and service was quick and friendly. read more
This was a great bubble tea stop! Unfortunately it was hard to get a tea with less than half sugar, (I try to get as little sugar as possible since the bubbles are plenty sweet for me), but their flavors were good and the bobas were the perfect texture. I also got their crispy tofu spicy which had a great kick to them! read more
Super cute little boba spot with a variety of seating for groups to hangout. There's booths, tables, and even couch areas for lounging. I got a matcha milk tea with regular boba and cheese foam on top. It was a pretty good drink and a solid choice if you're looking to try something other than some of the bigger chains that exist in the Buford highway area. There were also a lot of snacks that I'd love to try next time when I'm not full from dinner. My one issue was the smell inside. Might have been due to what they were using to sanitize, but it smelled somewhat of bleach and it was hard to ignore the smell inside and enjoy my drink. It was also kind of stuffy inside, and bathrooms had run out of hand soap. Staff was friendly and efficient. In terms of parking, there is a pretty large parking lot and it wasn't super packed. It's also on a strip near a ton of restaurants so definitely convenient to stop by! read more

Wow!!! I love this place. It's very cute. It would be a great place to sit and catch up with friends or even do some homework. I got the chicken sandwich and chicken nuggets. I loved it. The chicken was juicy and crispy. I really enjoyed every bite. They serve a lot of great dishes. I heard the corn nuggets are bomb! I can't wait to come back to try more items. read more

The service there is great! They are patient and attentive! I loved the cup, I found it adorable and am keeping it. The milk tea is lacking in flavor, the tea is not very potent so it kind of taste like a watery sweet milk. I also was not a fan of the boba, it's hard and chewy. I doubt mind it chewy at times but this one had many bobas that were hard in the middle. My cousin got one of their yogurt drinks, which is good but if you leave it to sit the drink separates and doesn't look pleasant. But overall that yogurt drink was significantly better than the milk teas. read more

Cute cafe, perfect for studying (with headphones lol)! I love coming to Cuckoo's Cafe to get some work done. There are plenty of tables and little nooks to grab some private space. There is also a good amount of natural light the streams in, which I always appreciate. I love to order the oolong milk tea with boba-- a classic tea that always is fresh. I ordered a snack this past go around and tried their calamari rings, which did not disappoint-- made fresh & delicious sauce that came with it. The portions were very generous and I enjoyed it. All the packaging is also very cute which is a plus. read more

We came in for lunch on a weekend and were able to quickly order. The spicy chicken sandwich was prepared to order, and even when we had the sandwich after driving home for 15 minutes it was still hot and crispy. So happy there's a location closer to me! I first tried the location in gwinnett and really enjoyed the atmosphere they create. This location is no different. The seating is really nice inside where you can spread out and they keep games available for you to play like connect four. I really enjoyed the fruitarian (tea cocktail) however it is very sweet so some may not love that. I also like the taro tea. Also, they have great food options like chicken cutlets which have a great taste, fries, taiyaki, corn nuggets, etc for around $4. They also have bento boxes and larger portions you can order. I like that you can order different spice levels for certain items. You should definitely try cuckoo's! read more
