After eating a hearty AYCE kbbq and sushi meal, this absolutely hit the spot. I am so so so SO SAD that this boba shop is not next door to me in California. I ordered the black milk tea with boba, less sweet. I am drinking this very slowly because if I don't, I will drink it in 5 seconds. You can actually taste the black tea which I LOVE. I've been here a couple of times, particularly at this location and the Suwanee one. This Doraville location is further from the main strip of eateries and bubble tea shop on Buford Hwy, but it isn't by any means not worth the small trek. I've had a range of their milk teas, lattes, specialties, to cream based drinks. The prices have risen steadily with everything else around us, but I think the quality has remained the same. Too bad you can't customize (at least on the taro milk latte) on the sugar level. You can most definitely customize with the ice level in general, but if you ask for no ice, the sign says they will charge you $0.75. After neglecting to do a review and trying various drinks, I think Pearl's Tea is a solid 4 stars on quality and customer service. read more

One of my go-to boba shops! I was skeptical when my friend told me about how much she loved the newest boba shop, Pearl's Tea in Suwanee. And after my first couple tries at the Suwanee location, I was hooked. I'm just glad there's a much closer location than Suwanee now... This was my first visit, and I was very impressed by everything that I experienced here. Pearl's Tea - Doraville is in a plaza that's popular for many popular businesses (mainly restaurants). Parking is free in the lot that serves all the neighboring businesses, but at around 7 pm, finding available parking spaces should not be an issue. Upon entering the store, R and I were warmly greeted by one of the two employees we saw working, one in the front and one in the back. Both wore face masks. Covid-19 precautions seem to be seriously taken here. Face masks are required to be worn by customers. A hand sanitizer station is available right inside the door for all customers. An employee cleaned tables after customers enjoyed their drinks and snacks and left. Signs on the floor indicate where customers should stand in order to properly social distance, and other signs are on tables that have blue tape on them, indicating that customers should leave those tables empty so that social distancing precautions can be followed. While we were there, The employee at the counter was very helpful and patient, especially after he found out that this was our first time at a Pearl's Tea. He quickly went over the menu (and there are a lot of items on the menu), and pointed out the more popular teas. After asking the employee at the counter more questions and getting well informed answers, R ordered a large watermelon jasmine milk tea with boba, and I ordered a large white peach blossom milk tea with boba. While we waited for our teas, there were, at the most, 12 customers sitting at various tables. I didn't see this as an issue because there were lots of distance between all the tables, and everyone seemed aware of their responsibilities to social distance from each other. We were given our teas within 10 minutes and offered a choice of plastic or bamboo straws. We opted for the hard plastic ones. I picked up my cup and immediately noticed, without even looking at it, that these plastic cups were thicker, and were better quality. A close look confirmed what I felt; the cup reminded me of a souvenir cup, actually. The cups also had tight fitting snap on (and off) lids, so, if you desired, you could take off the lid, chug your tea, and chew as many boba balls as you want at the same time, instead of only being able to suck up the boba one at a time through a straw that was jabbed through a plastic seal. We didn't ask for any changes to our teas, so we got them as they're normally prepared. I thought that the amount of ice was a bit much, so I would definitely ask them for light ice. Everything else about the teas were perfect. They had good flavors. My white peach blossom milk tea had a light peach flavor, and definitely wasn't very sweet, which is the way I like it. At other tea places, I always have to order the sugar level at about 50%, but the lesser amount of sweetener Is perfect for me. I could also taste the tea, instead of strictly tasting the milk only, which was great for me. This seems like a good place to chill. Pearl's Tea is well lit and has a great color scheme that made me feel positive and in a good mood about being there. Great vibe! The prices here seem to be higher, and you have to pay and additional $0.75 each for any of the four toppings available, but, I suppose that quality always costs extra. Pearls tea is in the same plaza as the karaoke melody. (Which is on the north side of Buford highway about 2miles from the exit.) I liked the parking lot situation bc the parking spots are far enough from the door but close enough so if it's raining, you won't be drenched lol The service my friend and I received was impeccable. We arrived after lunch on an extremely rainy Monday and were the only patrons who dined in. During the 30 minutes we were there 3 others came and left. We had some drinks made for "take away" and our barista offered to keep them cold for us while we enjoyed our drinks. Which wasn't necessary but was very thoughtful and accommodating. Pearl's Tea is my favorite bubble tea place, and its finally come to Doraville! It's located in a huge shopping center off of Buford Highway with plenty of parking and easily accessible. They just had their grand opening this past weekend and all orders were 25% off. I stopped by Saturday night looking to fill my sweet tooth but wanted something with hardly any sugar at all, and the staff was amazingly helpful. I had no idea what I wanted to order and had lots of questions for them that I didn't expect them to so willingly and kindly help me with. They basically choose my drink for me after I told them what I wanted. As soon as they made it, they told me to try it and if I didn't like it, they would make me a new one. It tasted amazing that I came back Sunday for another one. They recognized me immediately when I walked in and greeted me. They also remembered my order and made me the same drink again. Amazing customer service! Especially for a business just opening with so many customers in the first few days. I did not expect to be recognized. What I also like about Pearl's Tea is their variety n in different styles of drinks that you can't get elsewhere. You can also customize your sugar and ice levels along with milk choice. They also have desserts options if you want to snack on something! The shop is decorated really well and feels like a very calming, relaxing atmosphere to hang out. There is no rocket science to why this place is still shining mostly five stars. Service: Maybe it was because I was the first customer on quiet Sunday morning, but the staff so patiently answered all my questions, thoroughly describing the differences between various "blossom" teas and accepted my yelp check-in deal without hiccup (thanks due part to the a management figure who was sitting nearby to speedily confirm). Perhaps it's my previous small business experience talking, but I also appreciated that they asked how I found out about this location - to me this shows they are still actively attune to their customer base and this attitude is very promising! Drink: I opted for the White Peach Blossom Milk Tea. They offered that I try it and even offered me to make me a new one before I could even poke the straw in the cup. Fortunately, I liked the subtle flavors in this drink that I tried for the first time. All that pre-work of landing on this choice paid off. The boba had a pleasant chewy texture of a fresh first batch (when I make them at home). "Cherry" on top was that last gesture, when they offered me a sample of the Cherry Blossom Boba, adding that customers seemed to like this topping in the white peach blossom - bit too much for me, but wow those pearls are pretty in pink. No doubt if they keep up this fabulous service and quality, they will be a staple tea shop in the area in no time, if not already. I've had Pearl's Tea many times since last year. When I first tried their Cream Dream series that has cheesecake foam on top, I knew I'd be back for more. I love the mangoes & cream and peaches & cream in particular. I've also tried and enjoyed their mango matcha latte and jasmine milk teas. Their toppings are great and include some that I haven't seen elsewhere like the matcha crystal boba, passion fruit jelly, and more. I'm not a huge fan of regular crystal boba, but taking a chance on their flavored ones ended being a very good choice. What impresses me the most is that their standard sugar level for drinks is pretty tolerable. It's not overly sweet whereas at other places, I would usually change the sugar level to 25-50%. The only drawback is that I typically like getting no ice, and I've been alright with paying 25-50 cents more for that; however, they charge you 75 cents here! Other than that, you can't really go wrong with the drinks here, and be sure to sign up for their rewards at the register. Every once in a while, you'll get a bogo offer or coupon. read more

Hooked on Pearl's! I found this bubble tea jewel through Yelp, and there is so much to like about this place. The logo and branding are adorable and have a sort of 1920s tone. The dining area and restroom are kept clean. The employees are genuinely nice, and customer service takes priority. The staffers are happy to answer questions and even offer up samples if you're on the fence about a drink. Unlike many other bubble tea establishments, you aren't asked about what levels of sugars and ice that you want but you can make your requests known, and Pearl's will accommodate. I haven't found the default drinks too sweet but in case your tea isn't quite right, they're willing to remake it to your preferences. The drinks are delightful. Definitely try to watch the staff create them with care and craftsmanship. I was skeptical about the cream drinks since I tried a cream tea elsewhere and it was too salty, but Pearl's accomplishes the right balance of sweet/salty. The creme brulee cream is decadent and fun to eat, and the matcha drinks are pretty to behold. Popular Pearl's Tea of Suwanee (https://bit.ly/301xvrl) franchised their first location and it opened not too long ago, October 2020, where else but on Buford Highway in Doraville, the bubble tea mecca of metro Atlanta. You can find it in the same shopping center as Sushi Hayakawa, Karaoke Melody 1, Red and Green Brazilian Steakhouse, and E-Gyu Revolving Sushi BBQ. Most of the nearby competition is located on Buford Highway ITP (inside the perimeter). This new Pearl's Tea location in Doraville is further north. When it comes to tea shops on BuHi, a few things stand out to me about Pearl's Tea: (1) Decor. This brand has done an excellent job designing and decorating their spaces in a cute and tasteful, light blue-and-white color scheme. I think they have the edge in this department. If you care about ambiance and Instagram photos, Pearl's Tea is the place to be. (2) Creativity. Most tea shops these days have their own unique drinks and Pearl's Tea is no exception. They have imaginative drinks on the menu like Winter Blossom Milk Tea and Hibiscus & Cream. (3) Quality. The quality of bubble milk tea in Atlanta has stepped up in recent years. Pearl's Tea has entered the fray and can certainly hold its own. I've found the quality of their drinks, both at this location and the original in Suwanee, to be good and generally on par with the more recently-opened shops. Like the other places, the big question is can they maintain the quality? Something I'm curious about is when this market is going to get saturated, if it hasn't already. With the closings of Tea House Formosa and Utepia Tea in 2020 and Boba Bee and ViVi Bubble Tea in 2018, it's evident only the strongest tea shops survive in this part of town. Other franchises, Gong Cha (August 2020) and Tan-Cha (September 2020), and local brand Cuckoo's Cafe (February 2021) opened Buford Highway, Doraville locations somewhat recently. The revolving door of tea shops continues to turn. On that note, another thing to point out about Pearl's Tea is that I believe it's homegrown right here in Georgia. It's not a big chain from Asia. So, it's got some Asian American flair to it, like Unbelibubble in Duluth (and soon, northwest Atlanta). It's not cookie-cutter (at least, not yet). On our first visit to this location, my wife and I tried a couple of their distinctive drinks, the White Peach Blossom Milk Tea (large, $4.70) with boba (+$0.50) and the Creme Brulee & Cream (large, $6.45) with boba and grass jelly (+$1.00). Pearl's Tea offers all drinks in two sizes, regular (16 oz) and large (22 oz), and I believe most can be prepared hot or cold. Our drinks were served in those thicker, higher-quality plastic cups with hard-to-open, snap-shut lids (not the film seal). Currently, unlike most tea shops in the Atlanta area, Pearl's Tea actually uses biodegradable/compostable boba straws and eating utensils which are better for the environment. Kudos to them for that. We enjoyed the drinks. We got them at default sweetness and ice levels. With no modifications to the sugar level, we found them to be roughly equivalent to 30-50% sweetness of some of the other places. In other words, the sweetness was dialed back and more subdued here. Also, we found the tea flavor to be less concentrated than what my wife usually likes, but we were both fine with it. The White Peach Blossom Milk Tea was refreshing with fruity and floral undertones. I've had similar-tasting teas, but not one that tasted exactly like this. So, if you're looking for something new and different to try, it's worth a shot. While good, it's typically not what I (nor my wife) prefer in terms of tea flavor and creaminess. As a fan of sweet and creamy drinks, the Creme Brulee & Cream was more up my alley. This drink tasted like creme brulee and it was neat and striking because it had a hard, caramelized, sugar top just like real creme brulee. In addition to a straw, the drink also came with a spoon which could be used to crack the top and eat the sugar top or used to mix the sugar top into the drink, making it sweeter and creamier. Alternatively, the sugar top could melt into the drink which is what I let it do -- I just drank everything through a straw. Overall, it had a good balance of creamy, milky, and caramelized flavors. Like the drinks, the boba and grass jelly were tasty. They both had great, fresh consistency. However, to be nitpicky, the boba lacked flavor and sweetness. Maybe it's because we went earlier in the day and the boba hadn't had a chance to soak in the syrup long enough. We also tried a dessert out of the display case. The options were Hazelnut Layer Cake, Tiramisu, Red Velvet Cake, Ricotta & Pistachio, Mixed Berry Pie, and Chocolate Temptation. I'm not sure if these were made in-house. We got a slice of the Ricotta & Pistachio and it was yummy. Creamy, light, and fluffy with subtle pistachio flavor; not too sweet. Our barista Wonnie K was very sweet and friendly. This must be the only boba place in the area that still has open seating. It might just be when we were there, but it does seem that they were short on staff. The cups that were readied to fulfill the orders were being lined up. At some point, there were 3 lines of cups waiting to be completed. We had to wait quite a bit. There is a good amount of space to wait for your order and not be in other people's personal bubble. I ordered the winterblossom milk tea with grass jelly, no ice, and least amount of sugar. To me, this was sweeter compared to other boba spots equivalent sugar levels. I guess I should go with zero sugar next time. While I understand that the straw is eco friendly, it was not the best quality as it immediately cracked after slightly bending it. Also, this might just be me, but since the straws did not come in wrappers, it did not seem the most sanitizing especially during this time. One person in our group was handed all the straws, so I guess you just got to truly trust the cleaniness of your friend's hands. read more

Pearl's Tea has seating when I went (back in February) which I found it kind of weird since well, COVID. But, regardless of that We came here for a quick drink and what turned out be a quick drink kind of turned out to be longer than that. I think the shop was a bit short staffed, so we stood there for a good 15 minutes before we got our drinks. For the first time at Pearl's Tea, I got the roasted oolong tea and it was just okay to me. Was there a taste of roasted oolong? I couldn't tell. It tasted different, but not enough for me to want to order it again. The boba was fine and what stood out from Pearl's Tea was their eco friendly straws. They weren't really sturdy. We've bought metal boba straws a while ago so we've been using those. Overall, Pearl's tea isn't bad. Hopefully after COVID and when everything goes back to normal that this place will have the staff and the wait times aren't crazy. This place was so very cute and seems like a great place to go with friends. However, the drinks themselves were a bit bland(?)-- we got fruit-flavors oolong milk teas which tasted mostly like watered-down normal oolong milk tea. I wanted to get no ice for my drink because I don't like my drink as cold or getting watered down as the ice melts, but they charge an extra $0.75 for no ice (for supplies, but I would've preferred if they just didn't fill the cup all the way and allowed me to get my drink at the temperature I wanted). If you're coming for the drinks it might be disappointing but I would definitely come to sit down and chat with friends while sipping on tea! read more

Just when I think I've found my favorite bubble tea spot, a new one emerges! I loved everything about Pearl's Tea. Unlike Tan Cha, it was not overwhelmingly busy when I went in mid-afternoon. The cashier was extremely polite and helpful. I decided to get the strawberry matcha latte with boba and it was absolutely delicious. I also picked up a pistachio ricotta cake to go, and devoured it later. It was the perfect texture and level of sweetness. Perhaps what I loved most is their commitment to sustainability. I always feel terrible using plastic straws and have eliminated them from my life save for bubble tea, since it's kind of necessary to slurp up the boba pearls. Imagine my surprise and delight to see that they use paper straws! And the spoon that accompanied my brown boxed slice of cake was also wood. Will definitely be returning to try some of the other flavors. read more
