There are so many bubble tea places on BuHi and so glad to see this is still here after many, many years. They were popping on Sunday afternoon and I needed a caffeine boost. Recently visited and wow!!! I was reminded how much I loved coming here so I came back the next day! When I came at 4pm on Saturday, there were 2 people ahead of me. One waiting for their food items. When I came on Sunday at 2pm, there were 3 people waiting for their orders. Both times, I ordered my regular watermelon slush with boba and lychee jelly. It was as delicious as always! An order of Taiwanese nuggets and an order of fried fish cake. It was ready for me in about 5 minutes and it was the perfect snack for the day!!! So so good! I have been going there for 10 years, almost 3 or 4 times a week. I go there daily to support local businesses since my business is also in Doraville. Most of the time, the service is normal. I go in, wait in line, and order the same drink every time. Paid, take my drink, and leave. Today is different. The person working behind the counter made my drink and placed it at the opposite end of the counter. Keep in mind, I have been going there for years and most of the time the people who work there know what I want to order before I even order since I ordered the same drink each time I visit. But today, they decided to give me a hard time claiming that I am rude. I asked the employee behind the counter how am I rude. She said I always do that. I asked what did I always do. She said I was rude and started speaking in Chinese I think. I am not sure since I don't speak Chinese. And she told me to leave and don't come back. It turned out she was mad at me for not leaving her tips. I try to educate her about the tips system, but all she tells me is to leave and don't come back. Now don't get me wrong. I do tip the server when I dine in at restaurants, and generously too since I do own restaurants. But I don't believe in tipping people who get paid at minimum wage or above wage and still think that I should tip them. They are already getting paid for making drinks for me. They are not serving me at the table, why do I need to tip them? I came here a little after 3 pm yesterday (Tuesday). Parking was so easy to get in the free parking lot at that time during the week. The dining area is blocked off, and they've left the entrance area wide open so people waiting in line to order and waiting for their food can social distance. The menu is on the wall to the right next to the door as you come in. The counter where you place your order has a clear plexiglass barrier to help keep the employees healthy. I hadn't been to Quickly for months, and so I came here for a snack of the Taiwan chicken nuggets and a coconut milk boba tea. The employee who took my order did everything in a quick manner (rather Quickly, I should say), and used one word questions. I ordered the nuggets and then ordered the coconut ... but the employee cut me off by quickly saying, "Spicy?" This threw me off because I didn't know the boba tea was made spicy, so I just looked at her with a puzzled look on my face. "Nuggets. Spicy?" "Uh ... ok, sure." "Tea?" "Yes, I'd like a coconut milk tea with boba." "Size?" "What?" She gestured to the examples of the three different sizes of drinks that are sold here. I looked at the menu, and the menu listed only three sizes: small, large and extra large. I was just thinking to myself - What happened to medium? The employee brought me out of my thoughts when she asked, "Size?" "Uh ... the small is good." While I stood in the waiting area, other customers came in to place their orders. My wait was about 15 minutes, and I took it out to my car to eat. I had forgotten how acually big the bag of nuggets is. In my mind's memory, the bag was small when I was sharing the nuggets with someone else. But, in reality, eating all the nuggets in one sitting just wasn't going to happen. The chicken nuggets tasted like they were dark meat, which is fine with me. They were just slightly battered, not excessively greasy like most other fast food chicken nuggets. These nuggets are in no way uniform in size. The spiciness came in the form of a powdered topping, which added a mild spiciness. I'd much rather eat these than the Mickey D nuggets. The Quickly nuggets offer a slightly salty chewiness, and you can tell by looking at them after biting into one that they are truly real chunks of meat. I loved my coconut boba milk tea. It had just the right amount of sweetness, and definitely had a strong coconut taste, just the way I like it. The boba here was chewy, but in a good way, and I couldn't tell if there was a flavor to them. The last two times I ordered regular chicken nuggets, they were kind of spicy and salty. Not sure if this is the new regular non-spicy order. But it's still really good. I would pick Quickly's over Sweet Hut's chicken nuggets because the portion is larger and it's cheaper. Unless you dig the fried basil included in Sweet Hut's version, everything else is the same. This was an experience to say the least. I've been to Quickly's before, but this may have been the one of the most painful visits I've had. The cafe itself has a cozy, homey sort of feel to it. There are 4 sets of 4 club chairs with some extra seating underneath the tables they have (I did not figure this out before it was too late). The service was kind and the food came out fairly quickly. As far as venue and service go, Quickly is standard. During this visit, I opted for their popcorn chicken and fries. Usually, these are great. The amount of freshly fried food they give you is unmatched with other spots. I ordered both spicy. I typically can handle my spices very well and love when the spiciness is almost painful. Their spice mix was incredibly hot to me. After eating just 3 pieces of chicken, I felt the sweat and redness start to kick in. The fries were actually hotter than the chicken and I just could not handle it. PSA (and note to future self): DO NOT GET THE FOOD SPICY UNLESS YOU WANT SIT ON A TOILET FOR HOURS. However, if that's your goal, then by all means go for it! Prices are still the same (starting at $2.50 for a small bubble tea, cash only), but after trying many bubble teas around the city, I think Quickly and Lollicup in Duluth, have the best tasting and highest quality bubble tea. I give Quickly the edge over Lollicup because of it's more consistent quality. This place has become a mandatory stop for me now after I've dined somewhere on Buford Highway. The tapioca pearls at Quickly are always fresh, making them nice and chewy. I still like their Taro milk tea the best and sometimes ask for Taro pudding at the bottom. You can add different flavored pudding to your drink at no additional cost. Also, be sure to check out their fried food offerings -- in the past, they were written in Chinese on the whiteboard in front of the register, but now they're available in English. Within the past year, they've added a new Samsung display next to the counter up front, so you can watch Chinese dramas and mainstream American movies (with Chinese subtitles) while you sip on your boba tea. I remember reading the reviews and thinking wow, it's not just the Koreans that come up w/ odd store names :) Turns out Quickly is a Taipei-based chain with locations in 17 diff. countries! Welcome to Atlanta! Their newest store is located in a new 2-story strip mall just south of Asian Square and north of El Taco Veloz. Walked in and got overwhelmed looking at the many diff. flavors of slushes (28), milk teas (20), fruit teas, smoothies, & puddings. The pricing is very simple - everything is $2.50 (even the chicken nuggets), and a large is $3.50. After reading the concerns about flavor ratios needing more work, asked the server for her favorites - she recommended the green milk tea, black milk tea, & taro. So I got the green milk tea w/ bubbles & grass jelly. Interestingly my tea color wasn't green but maybe real green milk tea isn't?? Honestly it tasted like black milk tea but no biggie since I like both. Bubble texture was good, and first time eating the jelly - liked it, too. I also got an order of the spicy basil chicken nuggets - again thanks to Yelp b/c otherwise wouldn't have known b/c no mention of chicken on their menu board. Do get ready for a wait b/c they're cooked-to-order ... felt like 10-15 minutes. But worth the wait - fresh from the fryer, spicy (ordered "medium" spicy and my nose was running), & very tasty :) Ok maybe it had more fried breading than meat - something my heart probably didn't appreciate, plus it was sometimes hard to tell if the meat was completely cooked for some of the nuggets. Every one of the three main boba chains (Quickly, Kung Fu Tea, Sweet Hut) have their own strong points and downfalls; so, I frequent all three according to what I'm feeling that day. They have a good variety of cheap, tasty snacks and usually pretty good milk teas. If you asked me a couple years ago, this would be the best go-to boba tea spots in Atlanta. I used to come here 2-3 times a week and I live far from here. The game has changed, but they are still a super solid spot- especially for Taro Milk Tea and Taiwanese chicken nuggets. The biggest highlight for Quickly is the spicy chicken nuggets. They have the BEST chicken nuggets in Atlanta. They are sooooo addictive. Not only that, they give you a lot. Compared to all of the boba shops, they give you almost double. Another strong point is their Taro Milk Tea. A lot of boba tea shops don't do well with Taro because it's usually really chalky. When it's good, it's reallllllllly good. I've been here so many times I've caught some bad, watery batches. Their boba and egg pudding is usually a hit, but they do have some miss days. You also get three free toppings here. They remodeled a couple years ago, but I don't think they've done a great job with maintenance. You rarely see people sticking around for long once they've order compared to other places. The couches are a tad dingy and the rotating tables are showing wear and tear. I like darker lit study places, but Quickly doesn't achieve a good ambiance for studying. It's kind of hard reaching the tables from the couch if you need to put your computer down. There was another conservative phase of their life where they opened a location on Pleasant Hill which was extremely popular, except for their cash-only phase that was soon ended by a credit card allowance with a certain minimum purchase. I like both locations, but they are both starkly different. At the Doraville location, it feels quiet, with soft k-pop in the background. Here you can get out your laptop and do some work while lounging in one of their comfy chairs. The Doraville location only has about 4 tables so they don't usually have too many people. They also have 1 table with a couple chairs outside where you can see the diversity of Buford Highway and the crazy lines of 8 Degrees Fahrenheit, the new rolled ice cream craze. Drinks are creamy no matter what flavor milk tea you get. The snacks we've tried (Taiwanese chicken nuggets) are adaptable to how spicy you want it, and they are consistent with that spice level. The customer service here is really awesome. The staff always greets very kindly and makes a point to say have a good day when you're leaving. These little things are often taken for granted, so I wanted to highlight that. At the pleasant hill location, drinks and food are consistent. Their Buford Hwy location is in the same plaza as China Hot Pot and 8 Fahrenheit Ice Cream. The shop itself isn't very big. They have several couches and tables, good for groups of 4. The interior is a bit outdated though. I wish they got more seating or spruced the place up a bit. I think it would make it more appealing as a hangout spot. This is not a good place to study. The tables sit low so it doesn't make for a good workspace. They have a wide variety for milk teas, flavored teas, smoothies, and slushes. Prices are reasonable. A small sized drink is $2.99, large is $3.99 and XL is $4.99. Each drink already comes with your choice of two toppings. You can't beat a deal like that! They also have a variety of delicious deep fried snacks ranging from $3.75 - $4.50, depending on what it is. Taiwanese Chicken Nuggets, Fish Ball, Fish Cake, French Fries, Tofu, Calamari, Spring Rolls, Chicken Wing, Corn Dogs, and Butterfly Shrimp are some of the snacks they serve. I will say Quickly's bubble tea is not the best, it's average at best. Definitely better than Sweet Hut though. I would not come here looking for high quality tea, it's just a good place to get boba if you want a cheap option or want one of their unique flavors. I think the Taro milk tea is popular here. It's sweet compared to most places, but I'll admit it's pretty darn good. They're the most popular snack at Quickly and the closest thing you'll get to the nuggets in Taiwan. The nuggets are served hot and juicy. Portions are generous here. Quickly gives the most nuggets compared to any boba/snack shop in ATL; they fill the bag to the brim. The spicy tofu, calamari, and french fries are good too. You can get any of your snacks as no spice, mild, or spicy. Be careful though because I think they are heavy handed on the spice. A lot of times there doesn't seem to be a difference in the "mild" and "spicy" spice level. This Quickly location closes at 9PM, my only real complaint is that I wish they could stay open later because I love it so much and it would be perfect for late night cravings or as a hang-out spot, haha. On the one hand, I prefer this quickly so much more than the location off of Steve Reynolds because it's much more open and has a more, I dunno, friendly looking environment. Customer service was super friendly too, more than happy to walk me through their options. I got their small Taro bubble tea ($2.75) with no ice, since it was already cold (both the drink and the weather outside). The tea had a much better texture than the other quickly locations, which you could actually feel the grit of the powder there, but this location was very smooth and mixed well. Not a strong taro flavor at all though, so much so that if you didn't tell me it was taro, I might not know what it was, still, it was good. The tapioca balls weren't the freshest i'd had, but again, not bad. Staff were lightning fast, as I got my tea before I even paid, since I was the only customer in the store. Not quite sure how long i'd have to wait if I ordered a fried snack. Located in the restaurant strip alongside 8 Fahrenheit and Tempo Doeloe, Quickly is on the bottom level of this two level strip. Funny name, enjoyable bubble tea. I like the tapioca here. The bubbles aren't too sweet and have the right springiness for me. Plus, the employees aren't stingy with them either. Lately I've been on a flavored teas kick, resulting in me getting the winter melon and passionfruit green teas. Tasty stuff. Quickly doesn't lack for tea options; it even verges on being overwhelming. The fruit teas small size is about 2 cups and $3. The large size is roughly 2.5 cups and $4. What happened to medium? Bring your bills. I've been asking for no ice and no added sugar so you can make requests. Each tea can come with up to three toppings, such as various jellies. I always get my teas to go, but there are several couches and tables if you want to hang out. The space reminds me of a family's basement rec room. Not that any of my friends had these rec rooms; I'm just basing this on TV shows. The Intown Plaza shopping center is crammed with small establishments but parking isn't scarce.
