We enjoyed various temaki (Japanese hand rolls), along with other food and drink, from Cuddlefish's restaurant menu and separate bakery and cafe menu this past Saturday. Everything was good, as was the service and ambiance. This is a fun and neat concept - unique to Atlanta - located in the High Street mixed-use development in Dunwoody/Perimeter. Cuddlefish originally opened in the old Brush Sushi space in Decatur in November 2022. Cuddlefish moved and opened in Dunwoody in March 2025. (Brush moved and opened in Buckhead in August 2023.) Cuddlefish is from the same Michelin-starred, award-winning folks behind Brush, Lucky Star, Momonoki, etc. (Jason Liang, ChingYao Wang, John Chen). Cuddlefish is on OpenTable, so you can book reservations there and earn points. Free parking is available in one of High Street's garages. The best place to park is in the garage that's in the same building as Cuddlefish. Enter the garage via Cross St. After parking, there's a convenient walkway that leads out of the garage that's only a couple storefronts away from Cuddlefish. The restaurant has a nice corner spot at High Street. Outside, there's a spacious covered patio. Inside, the temaki bar, dining room, and bakery-cafe all share a modern, open space. The bakery-cafe is small. We had a party of five, including a baby. That was enough to fill us up for a meal. I probably could've had one or two more temaki. In general, every item was well-made and delicious. All of the temaki were great and all of the ingredients were fresh. The presentation was beautiful. My favorite temaki were the Toro Uni Ikura, Salmon Ikura, and Hokkaido Uni. My wife is pregnant, so they accommodated her with a free mocktail, cooking the salmon and excluding the ikura on her Salmon Tataki temaki. We appreciated that. Our table gobbled everything up. The Matcha Saketini was thick and heavy on the matcha. We did find it cumbersome to remove two strips of plastic for each temaki, but we understand why they do it (to keep the seaweed crisp). Sometimes, some of the ingredients would slide off with the plastic wrap, which was not ideal. I heard that if you sit at the bar, you don't have to deal with the plastic wrap (e.g., if you do a temaki tasting). The treats from the bakery-cafe were yummy. Service was excellent. All of the staff was polite and friendly. Thank you, Sian, Etta, and the Asian guy with glasses whose name I did not get. The name "Cuddlefish" is a play on cuttlefish, which is similar to a squid. Been wanting to visit cuddle fish for awhile. Trying both the cafe and restaurants. Cafe : this is where the location lost a star for me. The lady at the counter was not friendly, though she did make a delicious drink. Even my husband commented on how unfriendly she was We got two pasties, my husband got the margarita (which didn't list it had pesto and my husband hates pesto) , and enjoyed it despite the pesto. I got the everything croissant with scallion crème. I didn't really taste or see anything "everything" about it. Afterwards we moved to the resturant to try the food. The servers were wonderful and friendly, food came out fast. We ordered a few temakis and 2 appetizers. Both were tasty and fresh, we didn't get soy or wasabi with our "rolls" which is I thought how they wanted to enjoy them, but turned out we just weren't offered any soy as I saw another couple get their condiments. Wow I love this place. The atmosphere is clean and minimal but still feels very cozy. The cafe area is very cute. Th pastries all look incredible and I've gotten the black sesame latte both iced and hot, and it is excellent either way. The hand roll experience is perfect. I've dined for the all you can eat during Monday/Tuesday evenings and come for the normal menu. If you're coming for all you can eat, don't arrive hungry, arrive starving! With so many incredible options it's hard to choose each round but I was never disappointed. It may be one of their simpler options but the salmon Ikura is always perfect. The team here is also lovely. I was always greeted kindly when I arrived and waited on attentively. The hand roll chefs have been super informative and really seem to care about what they're doing. Was slightly disappointed in my experience at cuddlefish! We came on MLK Day, which was a holiday and a day off and we can definitely tell by the crowd. There was a line of people who came in after us but we were able to get seated at the temaki bar. Staff seemed over booked with the amount of people which could be why the service was a tad bit slow. We started off by putting in our drink orders which I opted to get the hojicha tiramisu latte with oat milk. This was a light drink, not too sweet. I think I should've gotten whole milk instead and maybe added something extra on top. Now, this drink took FOREVER to come out. By the time I got my drink we were into our third temaki roll which was a little disappointing. I opted to get the signature temaki set ($32). I enjoyed how they brought out each temaki one by one--kind of gave off an omakase vibe. My favorite was definitely the salmon tataki and the avocado chilli one! This is a hidden gem. I'm always stop by here whenever I'm in the area. The place ambiance is very cute and nice earthy aesthetic. It has the cafe with delicious bakery items connected to the restaurant. I got the Hojicha Tiramisu Latte and it was delicious! It has the true roasted taste and not sweet, which I love. 10/10 On to the restaurant side, I sat at the bar by the chef. As you order, he makes each handroll in front of you and gives you one by one. I got the signature set $32 and all items tasted great. The salmon one was interesting, has lightly seared salmon, with ikura on top and with a crunch veggie underneath giving a good refreshing crunch. Also love the crab and scallop! I got the Truffle Shiitake, and it was ok, I found taste the truffle at all and the shiitake, maybe because it was seared, it was a slight bitter taste. Came here for a weekend dinner and it was pretty easy to make a reservation online. The inside of the restaurant was clean and cute! The restaurant seems pretty spacious and open with the left side being a general table and bar seating space. The right side of the restaurant was a cafe with pastries. The dinner menu was pretty simple with starters and a variety of temaki to choose from. For starters, I highly recommend the crab and scallop! It was umami and eating it with their house made rice chips was delicious. The only thing I would note is that their starter portion is pretty small, so definitely order more starters if you have a bigger group. We got both the classic and signature sets. You are able to switch out some of the ingredients from your temaki set if you wish to. One set would be for 1 person, not great for sharing. The waiters that helped us were also very kind. It is a tiny bit of struggle to get the wrapping off the seaweed but once you get the hang of it, it is pretty simple. Overall, it was a great experience! I went on a Monday for their AYCE handroll and although I didn't break the record for most handrolls in one sitting, I definitely got my money's worth and left barely able to walk. You're allowed to pick 1 roll per each category on their handroll menu (veggie roll is mandatory) but each roll was delicious regardless. Our server and chef were incredible so if the food wasn't enough to get me to return, the hospitality wins in my book! Fresh hand roll lunch tasting in an elevated and clean atmosphere. Loved the attached bakery/cafe. My friend and I sat at the bar, and it is always fun seeing a sushi chef practice their craft. I wished the chef introduced the hand rolls to us. That took a bit away from the experience. My favorite dish was surprisingly not a hand roll, however. I loved the appetizer popcorn chicken. The chicken is covered in this dry rub seasoning that had cumin in it for sure. The hand rolls were all decent and fresh. I enjoyed the salmon roe the most. The bakery and cafe are great additions to this space. All the pastries and sweet treats looked beautifully made. Tucked away in the suburbs of Atlanta, Cuddlefish is a dual hand roll restaurant and aesthetic pastry/coffee shop. For a sushi and sweet treat lover, this place is heaven! The sushi restaurant itself touts a made-in-front-of-you model as you order your hand rolls. These were delightful with a side of a drink or just casual conversation. The non-alcoholic Apple Sidra was amazing, and I recommend it with the matcha. Don't knock it until you try it. The coffee shop is in the same building and pastries can be ordered to your table. For price on paper, the lunch special was a good deal. 3 hand rolls, 2pc crispy tuna roll, taiwanese popcorn chicken, pickled cucumbers, and a small dessert. However, the portions are small and leave me still hungry. This is a GLP1 serving. The taste was good overall Beyond food, service was horrible. Took over 10 mins before I got water and my order placed. This would be fine in a busy restaurant, but there were only 4 tables present. Took another 30 minutes for my food to come out. The manager had to remind my server to check on my order status. After eating, I waited another 10 minutes for the check. The two wait staff were on the other side of the bar talking the whole time. After making lots of eye contact and finally verbally asking for the check, I left underwhelmed with the experience. Food wasn't satiating. Service was lackluster. I've tried this place twice and both times were disappointing. My frst visit was at the cafe and I got the tiramisu latte and my friend got the match tiramisue latte. Not only were both drinks overpriced and small, but it also didn't taste like tiramisu. The tiramisu latte was just chocolate milk (similar to Milo) and the matcha tiramisu had no hint of tiramisu. My second visit was for dinner at the restaurant. I made a Saturday dinner reservation as I expected it to be busy. Even Resy process felt unnecessarily strict. I got daily text and email notifications and they even had a $20 per person cancellation fee. When I arrived, the restaurant was completely empty. There was no hostess in sight, and after standing around awkwardly, the only staff, the chef at the sashimi bar, waved me over to sit at the bar. The server was also nowhere to be found, so the chef ended up taking my order and then ran to the kitchen to find someone. I ordered the poke bowl (the sushi rolls looked too messy) and tried two cocktails - the GA Peach and the Strawberry Yuzu. Unfortunately, neither tasted like their names. I got very faint hints of fruit flavor, it was basically plain sake. The poke bowl was small and drenched in soy sauce, which overpowered everything. I came here with a girlfriend on a late morning/early afternoon on Saturday. We ended up sitting outside which was nice at first but once the sun came out it was a bit unbearable lol. We wanted to order strawberry matchas but their menu is a bit confusing so they couldn't really make those. The only type of matcha they had was with jasmine tea and I'm just not a fan of jasmine tea so I opted out. My friend got the tiramisu latte and I ended up getting the caramel banana latte. Both were ok nothing too exciting. For food I got the crab and scallop and crispy spicy tuna temaki. Both were pretty tasty just super messy to eat. I preferred the crab and scallop a little more. Cuddlefish is a cute new sushi restaurant with a nice cafe attached! We had dinner plans with friends but I decided to come earlier to enjoy the cafe and read a bit. The cafe section is a pretty tiny with only 2 or 3 tables indoors, so I don't think it's a good place to read or work, but I loved the drink and the pastry! The matcha there is sooo good! I love how they mix it with jasmine tea - it might be one of the best matcha combos I've had! The pastry was also really good too. After our friends got there we went over to the restaurant for dinner. We had the popcorn chicken and edamame for apps - they were pretty standard, and then we all got our own hand rolls. The rolls have instructions on how to unwrap, but I feel like we still had to unfold very carefully to not spill everywhere. The fish is super fresh and extremely filling so I loved that part too! Out of the rolls I tried my favorites were the salmon tataki and crispy tuna. I also liked the sweet potato katsu, which my fiance got. The service there was also great! Since the restaurant is run where everyone splits all of the tables, we always had someone checking in on us. Overall I'll definitely be back for the cafe! I only came for cafe service not the restaurant so that's my review. The cafe is beautiful inside. I came in the morning when they opened and everything was nice and clean. It's cute decor and was all set up for lunch. There's some nice tables inside and outside and it's located in a pretty area. Note there's not parking right outside and you have to go the garage but it's free and easy garage parking and a short walk. I got the mocha cinnamon roll because it looked great and it definitely wasn't a typical cinnamon roll. It was delicious and fresh. I also got the matcha with strawberry puree. This I was good too but not as impressive or unique as the pastry. The cashier was very friendly in helping my decide what to get. It seems they also have a rewards points program. Our waitress forgot that we ordered and came back to ask us if we were ready to order. The only reason I mention this is because I had her the first time I visited and she kept forgetting to bring things we ordered. We also did not have any water glasses at the table and had to get our own silverware after asking twice. The food tasted pretty good. The chicken nuggets were a bit too salty and the wagyu on the roll was over cooked. Not a lot of drink options and only had cold sake. The yellow tail and salsa was the best thing I had. Came here on a Saturday for lunch with a friend who loves this place. The location is convenient with a few different parking options. The restaurant is bright and welcoming. The staff was ok. They didn't offer us soy sauce which I thought was weird and didn't really check on us after taking our order. The crab & scallop dip was delicious. The temaki was ok. It's all cooked, and I prefer raw sushi. Also I felt like the plastic wrap on the nori and needing to remove it was unnecessary. I prefer hand rolls that are actually fully rolled in a cone shape. This place makes them look like tacos and it spills everywhere. I believe the idea is temaki is to be more convenient than maki, but this definitely is not. The quality of the fish was average compared to other handroll bars in the Atlanta area. I love the concept of hand rolls and sitting at a bar to watch them be made is so cool. We came here on a Sunday night and there was a decent crowd there. There are only a handful of street parking spots that were taken so we parked in the free garage about a block away. We requested to be seated at the bar (they have 2, but only 1 was in use at the time). They also have regular table seating as well. There were so many good options on the menu and we went with the classic set to get us the basics. Then we ordered additional rolls as we saw fit. We also got some appetizers. The tuna tartare was good, but the crab and scallops dip was so unique and tasty. We also tried the crispy tuna roll that was outside of the classic set and the rice pearls and jalepeno makes this one not to miss! The service was great and I loved how the soy sauce came in a mister bottle, although this can be messy. There is also a bakery and coffee shop area too and we grabbed a coffee on the way out. The shrimp tempura hand roll with pineapple and cantaloupe was my favorite. The decor inside is minimalist and inviting and the service was very attentive on a Monday night. On Mondays and Tuesdays, you can have AYCE temaki for $79 per person. Unfortunately they ran out of the corn basque cheesecake. I think yelpers have really hit the mark as far as ratings for this restaurant. Some things I would actually give it a five, the caramel banana latte was absolutely amazing, and the atmosphere is five stars. I didn't like how close the dining tables were. I felt a little claustrophobic, and you could hear clearly the conversation of the people next to us. I've been eyeing this place for a while now and was so excited to finally have the opportunity to check it out. I'm a huge fan of Hand rolls, so this was a really good opportunity to try a nice variety of them. They have a vegetarian selection if you want to do a combo , a classic handle experience or the signature. You can also order individually and get things like a Wagyu roll. Surprisingly my daughter liked the sweet potato roll better than the Wagyu. I think the rolls were solid, but not amazing. There are different price points, depending on what roles you choose. I thought the prices were reasonable for the hand rolls, but again I wasn't blown away with the taste. The little bakery they have there is amazing. We got this Dubai dessert that was really good. I stopped by for lunch and can't wait to come back for dinner! The space has such a light, open feel with plenty of natural light. I grabbed a seat at the bar to watch the sushi chefs in action. I tried the spicy tuna and scallop temaki--both were delicious, but the spicy tuna was my favorite! The poke looked amazing, so that's on my list for next time. I LOVED this place!!! The service was amazing, I had the tiramisu matcha latte, so good, not super sweet which I loved. I was there to cowork with a friend (great place to work and chill) so we stayed for Happy Hour and the food was amazing. 10/10, would recommend!! read more

Awesome spot in the newly manufactured High Street area near Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody. This place has two distinct sections: a restaurant featuring Japanese / Taiwanese mainstays with an emphasis on hand rolls (temaki) and a coffee shop with East Asian flair. Beautiful, bright, immaculately clean, and airy, both sections are pleasant and comfortable. My dining partners and I went for lunch at the temaki bar which was a wonderful experience. We told the chef behind the bar the type of hand roll we wanted and he made it -- simple as that. Highlights included the shrimp katsu, spicy crispy tuna, and yellowtail salsa -- all of which were fresh beyond expectation with warm rice, crisp nori wrappers, and high-quality fish with house-made toppers. The spicy tuna tare-tare appetizer with sweet potato chips was divine. Service was prompt, friendly, personal, and happy to accommodate our infant in a stroller. For 2 people with soft drinks, an appetizer, and 7 hand rolls between them, you're looking at ~$50/person -- fair for the high-touch experience you receive alongside high quality food and service. 5/5 we are excited to take our families here when they visit from out of town. Whenever I travel, one of my first searches is always temaki bar near me. I love finding new ones around the country. So when I was in the Atlanta area I found this place immediately and had to check it out. I loved the ambience and that there was a cafe attached to the restaurant. Upon entering, we were greeted by a super nice host who showed us to a nice table outside. Onto the food! I couldn't decide so we got a lot of temaki. We split the Signature Set and some a la carte creations, such as Crispy Spicy Tuna, American Wagyu, and Truffle Shittake. I'm going to start this review with the best ones and end with the ones that were not my favorite. I think the best option was the Crispy Spicy Tuna. The tuna was melt in your mouth but the rice pearls added a nice crush. The jalapeno also added a nice kick and it was just the perfect bite. The next best was the American Wagyu, as the meat was tender and seasoned to perfection. Tied with the American Wagyu was the Shrimp Katsu. I absolutely loved the sweet addition of the pinneaple and the shrimp was fried to perfection. These three really stood out to me. The next best was the yellowtail and salsa. I couldn't really tell what was going on flavor wise but it was pretty good and the fish was fresh tasting and I am a huge fan of yellowtail so I will be critical. The next best was the Chili Avocado. It was simple yet delicious. The Truffle Shittake was next and I love truffle flavors and this one did not disappoint. Lastly, I was not the biggest fan of the Crab and Scallop nor the Salmon Tataki. I also like those types of seafood the least, so take that with a grain of salt. The flavors were just not doing anything for me. I do think these hand rolls are very filling and very rice heavy, so five is more than enough. I also wish you could substitute out some from the set with the a la carte options, but of course that is how they get you to try them all. Overall, this place was fairly decent, and I want to come out to try some of the bakery items (I didn't have much room left after the super filling temaki). They have a temaki shaped pastry that looks super yummy! read more

Been here several years times and the consistency is unmatched! Every time the excellence of the menu, the kindest of the servers and cleanliness of the restaurant keep us coming back. Our last visit we sat at the bar and I think we had the most exceptional service yet! What set this visit apart was our server Angel! As I said all servers have been kind and welcoming, but Angel had such great knowledge about the menu and maybe it was the way he spoke and described the differing flavors he made you want to try all he spoke of! He was also very knowledgeable about the Saki and helped me to choose the perfect one for the night. My favorite thing here is the Salmon Tataki I think I had 5 orders!
