We were lucky enough to grab a seat at the bar, and it turned out to be the perfect spot to enjoy the experience without waiting too long. The bar seat was great to see all of the rushing but feel out of the way while people were coming and going. The Cabbagetown Bowl was incredible. The combination of flavors worked so well together, and the salad was a standout on its own thanks to the amazing dressing. The egg on top brought everything together perfectly and made the dish feel complete and a nice breakfast staple. Service was friendly and attentive even with the crowd, and the atmosphere had that cozy neighborhood feel that makes you want to linger a little longer, but you shouldn't because people need to eat, too. I am conflicted with this place. The food is good but the portion sizes are tinyyy for the price. I ordered the breakfast bowl ($14.50) that comes with potatoes, cheese, chicken sausage, an egg and side of arugula and tomato salad. Also shared a French toast and fruits with friends as dessert. Sounds like a lot, but I was still hungry when I got home 2hours later... and I'm not seen as someone with a big appetite usually. We had a delicious meal at petit Chou for brunch! There was a little wait when we got there, but we expected it. We were sat in the outdoors area which was nice. I ended up sitting on the side with my friend, because the sun was beaming on the other side. We got a water jug with no cups initially. We asked for cups a few times, which was a little torturous because it was pretty hot and we were just looking at the water jug lol. They finally brought out cups after we received our food. The food was amazing. I got the breakfast bowl. It was really good! I'm used to those bowls being pretty heavy on the potatoes and cheese, but this one was nicely balanced with the greens, tomatoes, and eggs. It was SO good! It's Labor Day, I wanted a late brunch and wasn't sure I would have luck with a short or no wait. I did a quick search and based on my likes and tastes I chose Petit Chou. I was not disappointed at all. I was quickly seated and was able to choose the table I wanted. They have indoor and outdoor (covered and not) seating. Plus a bar with comfy barstools. They have brunch daily til 3pm!! I ordered the Golden Latte with oatmilk, Breakfast Bowl with grits, eggs, greens, tomatoes and veggie sausage. I had a single waffle with fruit and sweet maple syrup, and a side of potatoes (yes, I was hungry lol). I am now obsessed with this place and it will be my go-to breakfast spot. Next up on my search for the best breakfast in Atlanta is Petit Chou, and it sure did make a great impression. I'm not the biggest fan of French Cuisine, and now in hindsight I which I would've ordered something French, but I will next time. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, it was very hearty and filling just like I like them to be, the gravy was perfect although I wish it had a little kick to it. Visit Date: Nov. 4, 2024 For my penultimate stay in Cabbagetown, I decided to give Petit Chou a try. I wanted to try a omething a little more from the left field. And I figured French cuisine would be just that! I don't often find myself going out of the way for French food as they're typically pricey. But the offerings from Petit Chou seemed reasonable. The restaurant seemed cute, warm, and friendly. Offering places to seat at some tables, the bar, or even the patio. Wait staff seemed friendly as well. Although, the only gripe I had, and the reason for 4/5 stars, was the excessive wait time to get my food. It took 35 minutes from placing the order and receiving it. Granted, this could be due to only having 1 cook in the kitchen, this is my assumption as I went for a late lunch, about 1.5 hours they closed for the day. Now onto the food! If we're going for French, it only makes sense to order some classic French dishes. I got myself the French onion soup and a Croque Madame. I was delighted by my choices and I quickly forgot about the wait once I had a bite of each! The soup was hot, rich of flavor, and had the right amount of sweetness from the caramelized onions. It was everything you expect out of a French onion soup. However, I do wish there were more than 2 pieces of bread within it. A small detail. As for the croque Madame, I was pleasantly surprised. This breakfast sandwich is a go-to of mine from my local cafe back home. But this example takes it to another level. The use of their gain toast with Dijon, Boursin, and a hearty amount of Gruyère, all blended into a very savory and mouth watering bite. The ham was also flavorful, not plain, not dull, unlike some other ham sandwiches I've had in the past. Overall, my experience at Petit Chou was a great one. You just have to be a little patient! The layers of bread are light and moist. I'm not usually a sweet breakfast entree person, but this was a win. I was only able to get through a third of it though. The hubs had the croque madame on gluten free bread; also super tasty and a good portion size with a side salad. The coffee/cappuccino offerings are standard, and good - priced a bit on the high side. It's a small space with about 10 tables and bar seating, so I think the wait can get long. We were there on the earlier side and only had to wait about 20 min (15 for the bar seats). Parking is also a bit tight. Service was friendly and efficient. Overall a nice brunch spot. I've always wanted to try this place and finally got the chance to for brunch! Their place looks deceiving outside but it actually holds quite a few people (they have a covered outdoor seating) with a big bar that seats at least 15 people inside. They do not accept weekend reservations but we were able to get a table for 3 inside when we arrived at 11 am with no issues. They do have a small parking lot behind the restaurant, which is typical with Atlanta parking. As this was our first time here, our server answered my questions about their menu as I was looking for something vegetarian. I ended up ordering a peppermint tea and an avocado toast. My friend ordered the eggs Benedict with orange juice, while my husband ordered a breakfast bowl with coffee. The server admittedly said she forgot my husband's coffee, and to make up for it, she didn't charge us for it. My avocado toast was really good ($13). I loved the freshness of the salad and the dressing it was dressed with was fresh and garlicky. The poached egg, though, was quite small but was cooked perfectly with a runny yolk. Decided on the Cabbagetown Breakfast Bowl - Hearty bowl of grits or potatoes, topped with Tillamook Farms sharp cheddar, choice of bacon, chicken sausage, ham, or veggie sausage, with one egg, dressed arugula and tomato concasse... $13.00. Being vegetarian we went with the vegetarian sausage; crispy and salty along with the grits, perfectly cooked and just a handful of greens ;) Along with the French Toast Crème Brûlée Combier- Butter croissants soaked in heavy cream, cinnamon and Combier with sugar and butter topping. Served with fruits, pecans and cinnamon and whipped cream. The fruit; a few slices of strawberry, blueberries and blackberries and a good amount of real maple syrup. The bathroom was clean with the funniest selection of amenities; mouthwash (single cups for use), deodorant, lotion, etc... In the parking lot a smallish garden filled with lots of flowers. Petit Chou oozes with cozy brunch vibes. From the outside, I admit I wasn't expecting much since it sits so nondescriptly on a quiet street. But once my friends and I stepped inside, it was beautifully quiet and intimate. The main dining area has a number of tables and counters, while the bar area in the center takes up most of the space. At my friend's recommendation, all of us ordered the golden turmeric latte (nondairy milks available). I don't think I would've ever ordered it for myself on the menu, but there were ZERO regrets about getting it. It came perfectly sweetened with a light foam cap and a dusting of turmeric powder that compelled me to announce - "It's good and good for me!" (FYI - turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory ingredient). For breakfast, I ordered the American breakfast platter to get a little bit of everything. Like a combo plate, it comes with a choice of grits or potatoes, eggs, and a choice of protein. There was a lot to love here - - Petit Chou is very vegetarian friendly (veggie sausages available for the American breakfast). - I ordered my eggs scrambled, and I'm not sure what the chef does to them but the texture was almost cloud-like. - Both carb options are stupendous. I ordered the potatoes but specially requested some a la carte grits on the side (because why choose when you can have both?). I would've loved for the potatoes to be a little crispier, but they were seasoned well. The fact that I ate until I scraped the bottom of the cup of grits probably says something about how well those are done here. Most of all, I appreciated that there was nothing particularly out there or unusual on my plate, but every single item on my place was executed to a tee. The brunch menu is simple - a mere page long - but I have no doubt they're all tasty. Finally, the servers here are amazing. When our server, Danny, noticed my friends and I were meeting for the first time in awhile, he gave us plenty of time and space to gab while looking over the menu. He was also able to walk us through the menu since we had a number of dietary restrictions. Our food arrived at our tables in fair time, and there was no pressure to rush out after our last bites. Some final details - For those preferring to dine outdoors, there's an adjoining covered space with some generous picnic tables. Very cozy hipster new york /french brunch vibes! I doesn't feel like you're in Atlanta. It's a very laid back chill place. Space it very limited and there is always a wait time but they go through the list pretty quickly. I think the most I've waited was 20min but I didn't mind since they offer complementary coffee and water outside the cafe for customers. Everything I've had was good but the croque madame really stood out and is my favorite option in the menu. I highly recommend the old fashion - very strong but the citrusy flavors are still there and the gold flakes are a nice touch (you may get buzzed). Ingredients are fresh, portions are generous, and service is quick. There is a very small parking lot next to the cafe (fits 6-7 cars) or you can park across the street at another parking lot. I came here for brunch yesterday, and the experience wasn't the greatest. My friend is vegetarian, and ordered the American breakfast with veggie sausage, but she was accidentally given bacon. Thankfully she saw that before she started eating. Moreover, I grew up eating some French food, and I was disappointed by the lack of flavor in our meals. We split the French toast, and it was a bit too soggy in the middle which was probably due to being soaked too long, and we had to heavily rely on the syrup for flavor since it wasn't sweet enough. This is by far the worst brunch experience I've had. My uncle and I were excited to try Petite Chou for Sunday brunch. The reviews on the menu and experience really talked this place up. Our experience was the complete opposite. First, our waitress, that volunteered to take our table and the table behind us, was not attentive and was very slow. Second, we were seated with a bottle of water for the table, and we had to ask the waitress for glasses so we could drink the water. Third, the waitress's other tables who requested glasses and dining utensils after us received glasses and dining utensils before us. We had to prompt the waitress a second time to receive the glasses. We waited more than 45 minutes after placing our order to discover that the order was lost in the kitchen. The mistake was not acknowledged by our waitress but by another waitress. The second waitress offered complimentary items to accommodate the error and checked in with the kitchen. We were informed that it would take them 30 minutes to bring the food to the table. Maybe Petit Chou has good food, but after this experience, I am not interested in trying their food again. read more
