The oysters were really good, loaded with cheese and garlic butter without completely overpowering the oysters themselves. The Lobster and Crab Bucket was the standout though. A full pound of snow crab and lobster tails served with garlic butter, and it was messy in the best way possible. Definitely not a clean meal, but completely worth it. Everything tasted fresh and the garlic butter tied it all together really well. The whole place had a casual seafood spot feel to it, and the portions were solid. If you go, just accept that you probably won't be touching your phone until you're done eating. read more

Haven't been here in years - at least a decade. Came w a group as someone suggested it. I ordered a fried shrimp basket which came with French fries. The cost was $30 which is excessive for shrimp slightly larger than popcorn and served on plastic baskets. The server was quite friendly. 20% is automatically added for gratuity, but I don't mind that when the service is good, which it was. I do think their prices are too high compared to the quality, size or portions, and ambiance of the restaurant. For reference, a crab bucket is about $85....you can go to somewhere much more high scale and nicer for the same price. It's unfortunate they gouge in this way. Not the freshest food, that's an outright lie. I live on MS Gulf Coast, we have the freshest shrimp, fish, oysters and blue crabs in the south. The restaurant owners meet the boats everyday and buy fresh seafood and cook for the public. While they have to go to a sea port truck it in freeze it to cook the next day. Too expensive, we get fresh shrimp off the boats for 2-4 dollars a lb. Oysters off the boat 6-8 dollars a lb. Please! We buy blue crabby by the bushels cheap. I have lived here 19 years, and I have never been to Spondivits. The long line of people standing outside always made me go elsewhere. There was no line today. Perfect. We were seated in a booth that had open windows to the outside. The place is very rustic, like a hole in the wall. The sever brought us the menus and took our drink orders. They make some really good brewed iced tea. It was sweet and not watered down. We ordered an appetizer of Fried Calamari and raw Oysters. My friend enjoyed her oysters. The Calamari was deep fried, but it had a light batter. In my opinion, it needed a different batter and some seasoning. Next, we had seafood platters and some crab cakes. The platter was in a small plastic tray. It looked like it wasn't a lot of food, but there was quite a bit there. It consisted of shrimp, oysters, and clams, all fried with French fries. Again, the food lacked seasoning, but it was edible. The crab cakes were super tasty and filled with butter. I was not impressed by the food. I really wanted to like it but in my opinion the prices do not compare to the quality of the dishes. The food is expensive. We spent $170 and that did not include alcohol or dessert. This place was so disappointing to me. From the arrival you MUST valet park your car- what if I don't want anyone in my car...(no options there) secondly the prices are wayyy over priced for seafood. The gentleman stepped on the seat that I was sitting on to turn the fan off and proceed to leave without cleaning the seat. I asked for him to clean the seat & he responded 'oh you want Princess treatment', my friend & I had to laugh. Its the ignorance to think thats Princess treatment when he just stepped his dirty shoes on the chair & didn't think it needed to be cleaned off for me to continue sitting in the seat. ‍ I dont frequent Spondivits, I can tell you one thing it will remain that way. I see different menus online with varying price ranges. I wonder if they have menus for certain days or they give ppl different menus based on if they think they have money to spend. I will still continue not to frequent Spondivits as it is a staple in the Hapeville area but the prices are extremely high. The crab bucket was delicious, the oysters were as well, the Chowder soup was salty AF and some of the rules of not accommodating customers are ridiculous. The place could use a little updating, the bathroom was clean and they are unisex, the drinks at the bar are strong. I definitely would recommend Spondivits but be prepared to spend some money. Soooo good!!! Someone recommended this place for dinner while we were visiting from VA. The seafood was served fresh and hot! This place is iconic and right next to the airport and many travelers come here I guess. So I went there yesterday for lunch. I had a grilled chicken sandwich, very good, but cost me $22.00 dollars, not that good with ok fries. That's very expensive! Then I had a few bottle michelob beers, $8.00 per beer! Visiting from out of town and the minute I walked into this place I knew I had hit gold. It was perfect! Really comfortable, super chill and definitely not stuffy. I sat at the bar where Packer fan Kent took great care of me. He was friendly, made great conversation, never let my beer go dry and guided me through the menu perfectly. Fun place to get some inland seafood. Spondivits wasn't far from the ATL airport, and so my cousin and I tried this place out during my layover. Vanessa was a capable server. She made sure to give us enough time to lollygag and gave us some advice on what we really wanted. I tried the grilled fish sandwich, and it was cooked fresh. It did not taste dry or overcooked. Plenty of fries on the side. My cousin enjoyed the same sandwich, but ordered the fish blackened. It also look good. We ordered a Cajun Shrimp appetizer. It came with six shrimp and we hot and flavorful. We also enjoyed some clam chowder - which Vanessa subliminally offered before and then we tried them. The restaurant is fairly tight. It seems like it's a shotgun style design. There are booths on the left side, and tables and the bar on the right side. The booth side looks tight, but had plenty of room. The place looks old like the inside of a ship, but the tables were clean, and the service was attendant. Overall the trip to Spondivits was fine. On an overnight layover we were on the hunt for food and didn't think we had that many options because it was midnight. Fun fact this place is opened I believe until 2 AM on a Saturday. If this restaurant can come to Port St. Lucie, Florida and open up, I would greatly appreciate it because this place is boring AF. I stuck with the crab bisque. I have been to so many restaurants in and around Boston trying crab bisque, and this place puts them all to shame. The flavor and texture was fantastic. You have the option of cup or bowl and I recommend getting the bowl. My husband got the chicken sandwich which I had a couple bites of and didn't care for. But honestly, who gets a chicken sandwich at a seafood restaurant. Not gonna lie, this is not the first time he has ordered an inappropriate dish for what the restaurant is known for. Never had a bad meal and the staff have always been friendly. Can't get this seafood experience in South Florida and we live on the intracoastal. Yes their parking is limited to valet, but there just isn't any place to park since the land across the street was developed. Yes the prices are higher than McDonald's next door, but this isn't McDonalds. Yes the price includes a modest 18% gratuity to protect their employees. If the food quality and service don't deserve at least a modest 18% gratuity, there needs to be a discussion with management. We will be back. read more

Was going to come here on a Wednesday evening after I just flew back in town. I used to come quite often so I was looking forward to it. I pull up and notice they have valet. I don't like other people driving my car so I asked if I could self park. Why did this man say I have to tip him in advance to park my own vehicle lol I nearly knocked him out the way! Drive around to the back of the McDs next door and you'll see a sign for parking for Spondivits. You go down a little alley and voila parking. It might seem a bit sketchy, but pay the man to park your car and everything will be good! Like I said the outside and inside has a hole in the wall vibe 100%. The staff are bar type strong and full of personality. (This is not a bad thing at all) however the seafood is outstanding. They do have a strange policy of any meal over $50 gets an added fee. This to me was ridiculous... I mean there is barely any one meal under $50 and then at the end they still expect a tip! Be careful when you get your bill... the "service fee" will already be added. When I got my bucket of snow crab I got 6 bunches of legs. You might see the prices and be like wow that is expensive but honestly it was cheap for what I got! There was way more than I could eat. I could have fed two or three people with this one order. The snow crab was ooooohhhh my Goddie way too hottie!! basically it was to die for! Sooooo freaking good! We went here at 8 pm on a Monday. The entrance was a little weird and I can see it being hectic on the weekends so I'd recommend going on the weekdays. I wasn't that hungry so I only ordered a salad which was good. My cousins ordered the Texas cheese bread and crab buckets. They really liked it. The only down side is that they don't give you something to crack it with. The ladies next to us used a hot sauce bottle . However, my cousins were cracking them open easily without anything.
