Visited this place for the first time a few days ago. I went to the UPS store in the plaza and saw people eating outside of the restaurant, so I decided to check it out. It looked nice. When I walked in, I was greeted right away. I was the only one inside. The person who took my order was really kind and friendly, and she explained how the menu works and the pricing. I ordered the rib bites, macaroni, yams, and a peach cobbler. I spent about $33, not including tip. I was so disappointed The rib bites were extremely tough, and the macaroni and yams were okay, but definitely not soul food. The juice was good though, I got some type of mango juice. Overall, bad first impression. I only tried it because I was in the area, but maybe if I go back another time and try something else, it'll be better.

I see why the reviews for this place are so low. For one, the demographic of people I saw patronizing this place was not making sense to me, with the marketing in my head. Now having tasted the food, the very vanilla customers make total sense now. This is not giving soul food. Yes, they have greens and macaroni and smothered turkey legs, but it's all bland and tasteless. I don't think I've ever been anywhere and had fries made fresh that literally taste like nothing. I've never had fries that taste like nothing. I've had salty fries. I've had soggy fries. I've had burnt fries, but I've never had fries that literally had zero taste. They have meal options and that's all you can do. I tried to order fried chicken wings separate from the smothered turkey leg lunch meal with fries. Just for the wings, no sides, $15?! Same price as a meal basically so you're better off getting a meal even if you don't want any of their sides just so you can have the protein. They would not sell me wings alone, like everywhere else, which is weird. I'm extremely disappointed that I even tried this place out for lunch and wasted money. Ordered the turkey leg lunch special. It's $13.98 which is really $14. After tax came up to 15+. When I actually got the turkey leg back to my desk to eat, there was literally no turkey on the leg. It was all bone and skin. I'm extremely upset. I guess all of the meat fell off into the dish, but you can't tell with all the sauce that there's no turkey on the turkey leg. I'm upset about this. Essentially, I ate no lunch because the fries were not good and there was no turkey on the turkey leg and the turkey itself extremely bland. This gives more of a Cracker Barrel, if you know what I mean, than This is It, which I also don't like, but essentially this is what they're going for. This is It 2.0. The two men working in the front seem to turn up the customer service when their manager was around, and it was really annoying. It's ok, you don't have to be overly nice now. The manager offered me a chance to taste the peach cobbler. I told her it no thanks. She insisted. I tried it. It was awful. I could be biased because I do not like or eat peach cobbler but I'm pretty sure if it was good, it would have just been good. Something about the texture was off. All in all, I would say skip this one. Save your money. Countless of other places on Peachtree you could eat.

I enjoyed my meal at Peach Cobbler Cafe. I got the 1/4 rosemary chicken and got the mac and cheese and collard greens for my sides. You order at the counter and get your food which was nice and both workers were friendly. It was around $17 which is a little expensive, but not too crazy given the portion. My main critique was really just the chicken being a lot of bone and the food being lukewarm. It all tasted good, but just wish there was more chicken given what was paid. As a whole, it is worth checking out and trying at least once.

I would recommend you find another location to eat. Ambiance- Nice location. Nice decor, little area to sit and WAIT for your food not to eat. Seating is on the outside. In Ga 100 degree weather I don't Recommened. Service- I want to give the young man at the register a shoutout because he was the ONLY polite person in that restaurant. We waited over 30 min in line behind a total of 7 people. The men who were fixing the food showed you every frustration they had while fixing your food. They kept making plates and pilling them up to the point food got mixed up. Food was everywhere on the line, no cornbread was available in which you suppose to have it with your order. Food- the lemonade was TOO sweet, when I opened the bottle my hands were instantly sticky. (Add water) the rice was under cooked and the macaroni and cheese tasteless. The cornbread crumbled instantly. The peach cobbler was so upsetting and expensive. It was just mush. IF YOU LIKE CRUST IN YOUR COBBLER DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. The turkey leg was actually my favorite. It was very tender and fell off the bone and the mushroom gravy on top added enough salt.

This is supposed to be the cornbread!

The first gentleman who helped me was great although he hardly put any gravy over my turkey wing and rice. The turkey wing did not have any flavor. When he proceeded to check me out another guy said... I got it. I had to stand waiting for 3-4 minutes for him because he went to prepare someone else food...walked away from me... but the first person was ready to check me out. I asked the second guy if they have cornbread which is supposed to come with the meal, he preceded to say let me check. He grabbed a piece of cornbread (cardboard) and TOSSED it in my bag. I see why. The cornbread was thin as a piece of cardboard. I drove over an hour. I now know this restaurant food is a hit or miss.

Holy moley! This little hole in the wall is NO JOKE!!!! In short, it slappps!!! This is located right in the same plaza as my waxing place so I was like, "Hey, i've seen this place here for 2+ years.. let me just see what the fuss is about" BEST decision ever! Walking in, you'll need to get in line, think.. Chipotle style. No seating and there are some "ready" food items, like ribs, ox tail and the "to order" items like fried fish. I order the "ready" items but seems like the "to order" items did not take long as well. SERVICE:: there was a very nice man taking our order by the front of the line, super nice staff, cashier was super nice too. just be sure to check your bag prior to leaving so you can make sure you get all your items because they are so busy in there FOOD:: Ox Tail - massive portion, over a bed of rice, which they didnt mention on the menu! flavor was so rich and decedant. Must order!! Ribs - not the most tender i've ever had however the bbq sauce flavor is so finger licking good and was priced fairly. Broc. Chedder Side- so cheesy, so yummy. Doesnt taste fake or processed!! Mac & Cheese - YUMMY!! good quality i loved it! Corn bread- dusted with sugar, super tasty Overall, SOUL Food is so comforting and im obsessed!!!!!!

Fried Chicken with collards and cabbage

After living in Buckhead, thought I'd give this neighborhood restaurant a try. It was rated #7 for top 10 best souls food places to try so here we are on a Monday afternoon. It's not a sit down kind of place but they do have a couple of tables outside. You order and then wait for your meal to be packaged up in containers. It is super pricey for soul food but I will say they do overfill the containers with a lot of food. So I ordered three meals. One oxtail and brown gravy served over rice and had Mac and cheese and green beans. Then two fried chicken meals with Mac and cheese and sweet corn on one order and collard greens and cabbage on the other. The collard greens were SUPER salty that I could not eat more than a couple of bites but the cabbage and Mac and cheese were pretty good. You could definitely taste the butter in the veggies. I was a little confused between the fried chicken meal and the full 3 piece wing meal. I felt like we got the wings rather than actual fried chicken (breasts, drums and thighs). I was hoping to get some decent juicy fried chicken but the one thigh was greasy and and the wings were flavorless and dry. I did like that the chicken did not have a ton of breading on it. We ordered a lemonade jug and it was good and very sweet. I had to dilute it but it was good as a cocktail later that evening. The corn bread was okay and had sugar on it. I won't be giving this place another try. They had a decent crowd, lots of pick up orders. It was either super salty or not flavorful. I know everyone's palate is different but for me, I didn't have that "wow, this was really a yummy meal" satisfaction unfortunately. It was a lot of food for the money and we threw more than half of it away. These three meals plus a half gallon of lemonade was $90 and was not worth the price. I could have split a nice steak meal for this price and it would have been delicious and I would have felt like I got my moneys worth but not here.

I was looking forward to some good southern home cooking and I was a little disappointed. I was first shocked to find out that you can't really dine in. They do have a few outside tables but I haven't used them. To the food. Not bad but not great either. They use some strange flavoring in all of their food. So you can't escape the taste in their sides and main dishes. I had the oxtails which was a good portion but very expensive. One smothered turkey wing, two sides and corn bread is $22.09. Oxtail dinner, two sides and cornbread is $37.69. Three veggie plate with cornbread is $15.59. More sides are al la carte $7.79 each. A slice of sweet potato pie is $10.39 and I think very average to puny in size. You can purchase a whole sweet potato pie for $37. 69. The interior is bright and the line looks clean enough. Even though there was a head chef on site, the two pork chops in the pan looked burnt, dried out, and IMHO should have been taken off the line. I'll take Piccadilly anytime for a place to sit down, enjoy some southern goodies and have dessert for a fraction of the cost. Save your money, go to Mary Macs or any other place advertising southern vittles. No reason to go back.

    Rib tips were too tough
    Christina E.

I'm disappointed in the food that i ordered online and picked up. I got the fried fish plate and regular rib tips. The rib tips were tough, like they were old or had been sitting in heat all day. I asked for Mac and cheese but got dressing and I don't eat dressing. The fish wasn't good either. They gave no bread and no Tarter sauce as requested. The Mac and cheese was too wet, soupy like...as if maybe they took it out the oven too early. If this was a dine in restaurant, this food would have been going back! I won't be back.

View the pictures. They speak more words than I could ever. I typically come for the Peach Cobbler, my favorite dessert, but do get the dinners at times.

You've heard the radio commercials and probably driven by and saw the line through the shopping center. Well, I FINALLY tried @peachcobblercafe today. I was craving some yams....soul food style. And well, @peachcobblercafe is the only soul food restaurant in my area so... perfect time to try them out. I got there about 5 mins before a rush came in. The employees were very pleasant and seemed to have a decent process of getting orders. The prices are double what you'll probably pay in a different neighborhood but, that didn't deter me from ordering a few items. I went with the smothered turkey wing. That was served over rice and for my sides I ordered yams, Mac and cheese and, green beans. The entree came with a cornbread muffin but y'all KNOW I had to try the peach cobbler. I'll say this...it was worth EVERY penny! @peachcobblercafe is legit!! Y'all, they gave MY beloved smothered turkey wings some competition! Everything was delicious. Most of all, the the crust, peach ratio was perfect!!!! I'll DEFINITELY be back!!! Next time Im trying the oxtails or catfish

The shrimp was fresh and not overcooked or rubbery. The grits were smooth. The gravy was well seasoned, but not overly salty or rich. The cornbread and bread or biscuit was good, but not extraordinary. Those were quite dense and heavy paired with the other food. I loved the banana pudding. This meal jumpstarted my banana pudding hyper fixation. Very fragrant and not too thick yet still nice and creamy. It wasn't overly sweet or heavy either. It was a good dessert to round out the meal. The chicken was alright, but I wouldn't say it was the best I ever had, let alone consider it the world's best. This joint is located in the lower hub, but I believe there's also an outside street entrance. Upon entering, we were told to sit anywhere. The interior is rather dim, and it wasn't super clean as there were still some crumbs on our table from the last people who dined there. There is also a very casual feel to the place, exemplified by the fact that food is served on styrofoam plates and paper trays. FOOD: 2-Piece Dark (Thigh & Leg) (4/5) - Chicken was nice and crispy, but nothing crazy special to me. I was expecting it to be spicier. Liked it more with the Louisiana hot sauce on the table. The chicken rests on a slab of white bread and is served with average slaw and sweet baked beans. Fried Okra (3.5/5) - First time having fried okra. Not bad, and I guess frying it eliminates the slimy texture associated with okra. SERVICE: I am not usually one to complain about service. The person who served us was sweet when we did interact, but it was so hard to get their attention to order and get the bill. But beyond that, the kitchen was noticeably SLOW. My brother and I literally only ordered one plate/portion to share since we wanted to try more places, but it took over half an hour to receive our food. They do emphasize that food is cooked to order, but I still found the wait to be baffling. TLDR// Come here or don't, but if you do, make sure you are not on a time crunch. Couldn't have been happier with our choice. Reviews I'd seen online mentioned parking is a bit limited and that the restaurant is frequently busy. So we were prepared for that even though we were going on a Thursday mid morning. I think there was an influx of people celebrating graduations because it was in fact very busy. However we got very lucky with parking and happened to come in right as someone was leaving. I was sure we would have a wait for a table, which of course would have been fine, but actually we were seated immediately! Which was super nice and unexpected. The atmosphere is bustling but not in a bad way. The restaurant itself is adorable and has a lot of character. It feels like you're having breakfast at an old friend's house. The service was great and our food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. I ordered a specialty coffee, I believe it was the almond joy cold brew, and it was delicious. Strong, which is how I like it and not overly sweet. I ordered the chicken biscuit on the waiter's recommendation and it was absolutely the best fried chicken I've ever had. Juicy and crispy. My husband ordered the pimento cheese omelette and was very happy with it, the bacon was thick cut and smoky and flavorful. The pimento cheese grits that came on the side for me were also a stand out, such great flavor. The biscuits are fantastic and the blueberry basil jam that came with my husband's meal was such a nice touch. We will absolutely make a point to come back to Buttermilk Kitchen next time we visit the Atlanta area.

First things first: the Chicken Biscuit. Buttermilk Kitchen's biscuit is on the crunchy, honey-flavored side. I personally prefer fluffier, more buttery biscuits, so this one wasn't my favorite. That aside, the chicken was crispy and well-seasoned and paired well with the cheese grits. If you ever wanted a dry, crunchy version of Homegrown's Comfy Chicken Biscuit, come give this a shot. I also tried the Hash Bowl, which was a bit underwhelming. It was a *lot* of potatoes compared to the eggs and bacon bits, and there wasn't a lot of seasoning other than the bacon. Would rather recommend one of the other options if you end up visiting. The drinks are good as well, would recommend the matcha latte (not too sweet!) and the French Press coffee.

I visited Chubby Cattle and let me start by saying... I usually dread buffets, but Chubby Cattle…read moremight have changed my mind a little. Everything was fresh, and I loved that the food was cooked right in front of us. That made a huge difference for me. It did not feel like your typical buffet at all. It felt more interactive and elevated. The options were endless! They had everything. Dumplings, fried rice, sushi, steak, shrimp, ice cream, slushies, like it just kept going. I am definitely spinning the block on this one when I go back to Atlanta again.

I did join the membership program, however, I am questioning its value due to the fact that a lot of the benefits are in California where I'm assuming they may be based. Go into this with the expectation that it is different from Korean barbecue, because it is Japanese. However, it is just as delicious. I was a bit upset about the lack of a chicken option, you're going to have to choose between kaarage or a New Orleans style chicken cartilage to grill no boneless / marinated breast or thighs. Go in with the expectation that your eyes may be bigger than your stomach cause you will be charged for access food. However, the quality of the meat was great all of the steak options we had were enjoyable, along with the pork belly! We did get silver cheer, which had a member pricing of $45.99, which I think is typically about $55 without. It's a very well decorated establishment, it reminds me of a street that you'd see with the awnings, it's a fun environment to be in. It's also nice that drinks are included with your meal. I think I'll visit again just for the fact that I'm a member, or one of the sister locations opposed to the one in Atlanta.

Roasters may not always be in the conversation for the best chicken joints in Atlanta, but it…read moreshould be. Granted, that conversation is usually premised on fried chicken vs. rotisserie, but they can definitely hold their own for tender, juicy chicken. You can choose 1/2 or 1/4 chicken options with dark or white meat, but I my go-to is the pulled white meat plate for an easy-to-eat meal. Their house barbecue sauce is great, with just a little sweetness. They have a wide variety of comfort food sides like broccoli-cauliflower casserole and sweet potato soufflé so a hearty veggie plate is always an option there. And if you like your cornbread on the sweeter side theirs is a good as you'll find anywhere. Space-wise they have a large indoor dining area as well as a patio for nicer days. They have a few TVs on the wall so it's a good spot if sports are on. Service is consistently friendly and food comes out quickly. Parking for the center they are in is often crowded, but additional spots are available up the hill. Give them a try the next time you're craving some chicken and I'll bet you'll be back again soon.

I'll get the good things out of the way first: the staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean and they filled my mobile order quickly. But the food I received made me not want to return. I ordered the soup and salad combo. Chicken and rice soup and a house salad with blue cheese dressing. The soup was ok. It did not taste fresh but more like the end of the pot. The broth was oily, the potatoes (unexpected in chicken soup) were all broken up and mushy, the chicken was dry and the ends were rubbery/crispy. I took a couple of bites and just couldn't finish it. It just tasted...old. The salad, the item I was REALLY looking forward to, had wilted lettuce and dirt was still present on most of it. I thought maybe it was just one or two pieces but nope, it was wilted all the way through. And the blue cheese dressing provided, in a pod similar to coffee creamer, had separated and was white cream on the bottom and a layer of oil on the top. Shaking it up didn't even make it better. I thought a bun or roll would have been provided with the meal as the pick-up window attendant asked me if I wanted butter. I guess it was just wishful thinking on my part but it would have been nice. Although my lunch was reasonable priced for the Buckhead area at around $13...I couldn't eat it. I may return in the future and try something they specialize in like rotisserie or chicken tenders but if you can't provide a basic soup/salad combo you should probably just remove it from the menu.
