I was CRAVING a biscuit and there was no other place that could satisfy that craving than Buttermilk Kitchen. Things to know, this place is very busy during the weekends, so be ready to wait a considerable time... you want a faster service, arrive early, the later you're there, the longer will take to be seated. Service is always efficient, friendly, helpful and kind. Ambience is very relaxed, I think is better for a small group or a solo breakfast. Go for the classic and simple, this biscuits are to die for!
TL;DR: Super cute spot with decent breakfast offerings and great staff. Don't go out of your way to come, but worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood. First things first: the Chicken Biscuit. Buttermilk Kitchen's biscuit is on the crunchy, honey-flavored side. I personally prefer fluffier, more buttery biscuits, so this one wasn't my favorite. That aside, the chicken was crispy and well-seasoned and paired well with the cheese grits. If you ever wanted a dry, crunchy version of Homegrown's Comfy Chicken Biscuit, come give this a shot. I also tried the Hash Bowl, which was a bit underwhelming. It was a *lot* of potatoes compared to the eggs and bacon bits, and there wasn't a lot of seasoning other than the bacon. Would rather recommend one of the other options if you end up visiting. The drinks are good as well, would recommend the matcha latte (not too sweet!) and the French Press coffee.
Hands down one of our favorite brunch spots in Atlanta, it's part of our top two. We went today for Mother's Day. We arrived early thinking there would be a line. Showed up about 20 minutes before open and we were the 2nd to arrive. I guess we don't go often enough because we didn't know they started taking reservations. We ordered the biscuits for each of us, party of 5. It's an absolute must when going to BK. We also ordered the cinnamon roll to start. I ordered the hash with eggs, my wife ordered the chicken with pancakes, we ordered the kids meal for our toddler and someone else ordered the hash and farm omelette. All tasted amazing, can't wait to go back again. The biscuits are really something else, especially with the sea salt butter.
I had an amazing Southern-style breakfast here! I visited with a friend around 11am and we had to wait for about 1 hour before getting seated. This is walk-in only I believe and they will send you a text notification once your table is ready. My friend and I shared the following dishes: - Biscuit Donuts: A weekend special. These were warm, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and perfectly sweet. Delicious and I can imagine how good the savory version of these are. - Chicken + Waffle: Wow, among some of the best chicken and waffles I've ever had. The chicken was juicy and the breading was perfect. Only downside is I wish the chicken portion was bigger. The waffle was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. A perfect texture. With the butter and maple syrup, it all worked so well together. A must. - Spiced Maple Chicken & Grits: Really great grits texture and flavor! This dish was overall good, but pales in comparison to the other dishes we had. I do think the hot sauce overpowered the dish a bit, so I would recommend toning it down. It also had a very generous amount of bacon which was nice. The service here was great, a Southern hospitality staple. The interior is homey and cozy, like dining at someone's house. For parking, they do have free spots behind the restaurant, but it can get packed. Overall, I highly recommend this spot if you're looking for an authentic Southern breakfast option in Atlanta!
The food was mind blowing. The cinnamon roll was so delightful, the orange zest elevated taste and the blueberry preserve was delightful. The tiramisu latte was really good too. My absolute favorite thing was the gravy, best gravy I've ever had. The portions are huge, the prices are great for the quality and effort into the food. Our server was so kind. There was an ID mix up and she handled it with grace. The ambiance is very welcoming!
This is clearly a local staple! Coming in around 10 am, the parking lots were small but all full. There's about three lots and all were pretty full and smaller. It was only me so i was sat immediately at the bar. The service was great! And customers were very friendly. I ordered the shrimp and grits. Downside is it came with bacon. I requested turkey bacon but they don't carry turkey. The waitress requested lite bacon but it was in almost every bite. The tomatoes gave it a good added flavor. The shrimp was also very tasty. With better parking I could come back but just would try another dish.
Happy Birthday Breakfast was wonderful for my friend and I. Started with Biscuit Trio with assorted toppers- pepper jelly, blueberry basil and peach preserves. Yummy A must try for all. Erin our servicer was so thoughtful and attentive kept coffee filled. They serve best chicken n waffles, biscuits and pancakes. These Folks do it right! MzD

The service was excellent and the food was good overall, but we found the dishes to be extremely heavy. I'm not exaggerating when I say I felt full for two days afterward--and I barely touched my meal. That said, I'm also not very used to foods that are high in butter or salt, so a traditional Southern-style breakfast may simply be richer than what I'm accustomed to. Others in my group mentioned the same thing--that the food really seems to sit in your stomach for quite a while. The ambiance is very cute. The restaurant is set in what feels like a charming little house, which gives it a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Parking can be a bit tricky depending on the time, but we had a 2 PM reservation on a Sunday and were able to find a spot right in front. There are also several small parking lots nearby with signage to help customers locate them. I ordered the grits bowl, which is a great gluten-free option. The spinach had a slight spice to it and was very flavorful, and the roasted tomatoes were a really nice touch.

The fried green tomatoes were really crunchy and they had this vinegary/acidic kick that was really good with their ranch sauce. The chicken was nice and crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. I'd say the waffle tastes like a standard waffle. It pairs well with the chicken and syrup. All the food came out super quickly and the service was friendly. The chicken and waffle meal was closed to $20. Left with a very full and happy tummy!
First time trip for breakfast. Very crowded -restaurant feels small Unisex bathrooms. Ordered cinnamon roll after seeing pictures. Served lukewarm. Soso. Not what i had expected. Maple bacon good just not hot. Kinda limp. Hash browns are a weird experience too. Kinda mushy inside. Omelette served lukewarm also. We did not have to wait long for our food so not sure why the food was not hot. I think we will go to egg harbor cafe next time. Sat at the bar. Never was offered coffee or water refill

The place was packed, energy was high, and the turnover moved steady. Now the food. Biscuits with sea salt, blueberry jam, and spicy jam. 5 out of 5. These were elite. Soft, balanced, and layered with flavor. The salty top with the sweet and heat from the jams worked perfectly. Easily the best thing on the table. Eggs. 3 out of 5. They were cooked fine. They tasted like eggs. Nothing more, nothing less. Grits. 4 out of 5. Well seasoned. Creamy. You can tell someone paid attention back there. Hash browns. 4 out of 5. These surprised me. Not your typical diner style. Crisp, structured, almost like a salmon patty in texture. They held their own. Chicken sausage. 2 out of 5. Respectfully, get the bacon. Some battles are not worth fighting. Pancakes. 4 out of 5. Great flavor and fluff. Only thing missing was those crispy edges you get at home on a hot pan. Overall, solid brunch spot. Worth the wait if you plan for it. Come patient. Order the biscuits. Skip the health kick.
I'm back at it again with another post-church review! This time, it's Buttermilk Kitchen--a spot I hadn't heard of until it popped up in my brunch search. My friend joined me this time, and off we went. Now, parking was tight and a bit tricky, and I actually missed the entrance on my first pass because the sign is placed right after the entrance. Inside, it's small and intimate. Aaron at the front took names, and we waited a bit over an hour...pretty standard for most places. I ordered the short rib hash with pickled fried green tomatoes, a cold chai, and we split a cinnamon roll. My friend had the French toast, scrambled eggs, and a hot chai. She loved her eggs, but found the French toast bland--no cinnamon or nutmeg, mostly vanilla and sugar. She gave it a 2.5/5. For me, the short rib hash was excellent! The meat was tender, the sauce was great, and eggs were on point. The potatoes could've been crispier and seasoned, though. The pickled fried green tomatoes? Easily the best I've had--amazing, though at $10 for three, I wish there was one more piece. The chai, made in-house, was great. The cinnamon roll had fantastic cream cheese frosting with a citrus hint, but the roll itself tasted like a plain crop dusted dough. I'd skip the roll next time, but honestly, I'd put that frosting on anything! Overall, it was a nice experience. The service was attentive, and despite the minor drawbacks, I'll definitely be back to try more.

Showed up on a Saturday afternoon for a brunch date and the place was packed. That's usually both a red and green (brown? lol) flag for me, but the space is huge - indoor and outdoor seating - so putting our names down only resulted in a 20 minute wait. Entirely manageable. Started off with the Tropic Like It's Hot mocktail (pineapple, orange juice, coconut water cream). Pretty tasty, crisp, and refreshing. Then came the cornbread muffins with the "liquid gold" spun honey. Unbelievable. Hot, crumbly, and easily the best thing on the table. Whoever is running the pastry program in the back understands pure physics. I could've eaten a dozen of those alone. For the entree, I got the Spiced Maple Chicken & Grits - fried chicken tossed in maple hot sauce, grits, two eggs, benton's bacon, and scallions - along with a side biscuit and jam. Complete hit. The chicken had a great crunch, the heat-to-sweet ratio was locked in, and the grits were smooth. Biscuit was flaky and proper, too. Bottom line: Buttermilk Kitchen executes at a high level even when swamped. Just don't skip the cornbread. I'll definitely be back. read more
First time here and it was pretty good. Went here for brunch in a Saturday morning and there was a bit of a wait but nothing too bad (~20 min). Parking was better than I expected. They have a mini lot in the front and two in the back but space is limited. We had the biscuit trio and they were good. They get cold fast though. It comes with 3 jams and butters for you to try. The French toast was good but idk how fresh the bread was bc the crusts were hard- especially after cooking. It was actually kind of disappointing bc I had a much higher expectation for the texture and flavor. There's nothing special about it. My friend loved her grits, eggs and bacon dish. Service was good and timely. Overall, I'd go back and try something different but would definitely get the biscuits again. read more

Buttermilk Kitchen is exactly how brunch should be. They have set a standard for high quality southern dishes that is always consistent. I've been several times and highly recommend you make reservations to avoid long wait times. Every time I've ate at Buttermilk the service is always excellent. The vibe is cozy and friendly whilst also charming and welcoming. I recommend getting the maple chicken or chicken and waffle but you really can't go wrong. The biscuits are delicious especially with the pepper jelly and I love trying something new during their seasonal rotations. If you like to dine alone, the bar is a perfect area to chill and have some solo time. I will continue to be a patron of Buttermilk and have brunch here with friends and family. 10/10 you won't regret trying this place. read more

I had previously reviewed Buttermilk Kitchen 5-stars and sometimes that can set a bit of an unrealistic expectation. This was not at all the case for my second visit to Buttermilk Kitchen. The service and food somehow both got better from my last visit. Erin provided us great service and really made our experience special. I also tried a new dish which was even better than last time. We had the cinnamon roll which was good, but the star was the chicken biscuit with a side of the pimento cheese grits. Last time I said that they made the best biscuits, but now I'm thinking they might also make the best fried chicken. Overall, I'm really just blown away with the food here and would highly recommend visiting! read more

Buttermilk kitchen is my favorite place to eat breakfast in Atlanta! Every time I have been, the service has been great and the food consistently delicious. The biscuits (as expected) are to die for and live up to the expectation in the name "buttermilk." I also recommend the cornbread muffins with the honey and butter to start. The pancakes, bacon, and grits are great as well. The service has been exceptional each time. Our cornbread came out without the honey and by the time we were able to grab our server, we had eaten the muffins. He kindly offered to bring a whole new order out without us even having to ask- that is great service! And to top it off I love the farmhouse vibe and atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant but definitely recommend booking a reservation or being prepared to wait an hour + on the weekends. read more
We got there at 9 on Sunday, just ahead of the rush. By the time we left at 10, the parking lot was packed and a small line had started forming outside. Worth noting if you are aiming for a quicker visit. The bottomless coffee really is bottomless, but at five dollars, you will feel like you need to make it count. It is just basic drip coffee and I only managed two cups, so that felt a little steep. For breakfast, I went with the country omelet and added the pork sausage. It was genuinely tasty and hit the spot. I had one slice of the sourdough and handed off the hashbrown fritters to my friend, who was happy to take them. One odd detail. Tips are calculated after taxes, and the receipt nudges you toward 20, 25, and even 23 percent. Just something to be aware of when you are settling up. A Breakfast You'll Be Dreaming About Later! We absolutely loved our visit to The Buttermilk Kitchen. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, relaxed, and welcoming. We sat at the bar, which was surprisingly comfy and such a fun spot to enjoy breakfast. Lindsey, the bartender, was awesome -- friendly, attentive, and full of good energy. Everyone working here was kind and upbeat, which made the whole experience even better. Now for the food... wow. We both ordered the breakfast biscuit, and it was delicious -- flaky, buttery, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. But the real showstopper? The hash brown fritters. Perfectly crispy, golden, and addictive. Do not skip them. You know a place is great when Guy Fieri has been here, and it's even had visits from Jon Hamm and Tom Hanks. That's all the validation you need! Bottom line: This is a must visit spot. Great food, great people, great vibe. We can't wait to go back. read more

We were in town for a concert and my birthday, and decided to go for a nice breakfast for my birthday. Did some online research and kept coming back to Buttermilk Kitchen. Couldn't have been happier with our choice. Reviews I'd seen online mentioned parking is a bit limited and that the restaurant is frequently busy. So we were prepared for that even though we were going on a Thursday mid morning. I think there was an influx of people celebrating graduations because it was in fact very busy. However we got very lucky with parking and happened to come in right as someone was leaving. I was sure we would have a wait for a table, which of course would have been fine, but actually we were seated immediately! Which was super nice and unexpected. The atmosphere is bustling but not in a bad way. The restaurant itself is adorable and has a lot of character. It feels like you're having breakfast at an old friend's house. The service was great and our food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. I ordered a specialty coffee, I believe it was the almond joy cold brew, and it was delicious. Strong, which is how I like it and not overly sweet. I ordered the chicken biscuit on the waiter's recommendation and it was absolutely the best fried chicken I've ever had. Juicy and crispy. My husband ordered the pimento cheese omelette and was very happy with it, the bacon was thick cut and smoky and flavorful. The pimento cheese grits that came on the side for me were also a stand out, such great flavor. The biscuits are fantastic and the blueberry basil jam that came with my husband's meal was such a nice touch. We will absolutely make a point to come back to Buttermilk Kitchen next time we visit the Atlanta area. read more

My first time trying this space and I'd definitely return. The ambiance and decor and is nice & quaint. The food was also delicious. I ordered a buttermilk pancake with blueberries which was tasty but not too overpoweringly sweet which I love. I also had a fried chicken breast on the side. It was moist inside with a nice crunch outside. For my beverage I wanted to try the golden hour but they were out so I got the ginger honey soda. A 10/10 out of ten as well. Per the recommendation of the server I got the chicken biscuit with grits with a single pancake. My husband got the country omelet with hasbrowns and a biscuit. The food was very tasty but wish I knew the chicken biscuit was as sweet as it was. The pancake was super tasty, but my overall favorite was the housemade butter and just plain biscuit. Buttermilk Kitchen lived up to all the hype! The vibe inside is warm and welcoming, and everything feels homemade and thoughtful. I ordered the chicken and waffles and honestly, they were really good! From the crispy texture to the juicy chicken paired with perfectly fluffy waffles that had just the right amount of sweetness. To top it off, I grabbed a vanilla latte and it was excellent smooth, not too sweet, and perfectly balanced with that rich espresso flavor. You can tell they take pride in even the little details here. If you're in Atlanta, this spot is a must. Make sure to book a reservation at Buttermilk, especially on weekends like Saturdays. I had an 11:30 a.m. reservation with friends, but we weren't seated until closer to 12. Despite the crowded interior, which felt like we were sitting on top of other tables, our food arrived fairly quickly and was quite good. They also offer a variety of sweet-flavored coffees, but I didn't try one this time. I'll definitely be back to give it a shot! read more
Thoroughly enjoyed my time here for an impromptu breakfast out of the house! To start, the wait time was about 35 minutes and when we got to the desk on a Sunday morning, they told us an hour. We were willing to wait because I wanted to go here for quite some time! Even though our weight was a little bit long, the food came out so fast. As soon as we got there, we ordered a bloody Mary and a mimosa, which were both very good. They lined the cup with seasoning, salt instead of Taheen and I'm so grateful for that. They had house pickles and celery steak along with a strip of candy bacon in the actual bloody Mary and what a combo. The only thing I wish was in there was a banana pepper! 10 out of 10 on presentation and taste. So good, I will come back just for the bloody Mary and a biscuit. For our breakfast, we got the standard, eggs, fried hard and chicken sausage on the side. And I got a biscuit of course, why else would you come here if not for the biscuit! And that came with some homemade blueberry jam. This jam is amazing. I kept talking about it all throughout our breakfast and I'm still talking about it now . Really yummy, not too sweet and not too congealed if that makes sense? We also ordered the biscuit breakfast sandwich, standard with bacon on it. Delicious. I have to say, three great things that are amazing here. The service, the portions, and the taste. Everything here is reasonably priced, and I love walking away from a meal feeling like I got a great value for the amount that I paid. Delicious food, southern style biscuits, and delicious hard drinks and coffee. Came here during All State Game week and, although it was a little bit of a Lyft ride out from where we were in Buckhead, totally worth it. The front end is very small but allows for coffee and drink orders while you wait (and you will). Theres a little bit of seating out front and parking can be a challenge based on all the where to park signs around. If its hot and muggy like when we went be prepared to wait outside without AC or misters. Once you get to dining, the place sprawls out some with much more seating. Inside is cleanz the staff is friendly, and the menu is solid end to end. I had the biscuits and gravy - big portions, biscuit was crispy on top and soft inside, and the sawmill gravy was excellent. Scrambled eggs were perfectly soft and my wife reported her fried egg had just the right amount of run - her favorite. My wife enjoyed her meal and alcoholic drink, though I forgot what exactly she ordered it had a lot of red potatoes and eggs. I preferred my meal. Coffee we ordered while in waitline to sit was good but overly sweet from the syrup pumps. I had a Drunken Peach drink to go with my meal, also excellent. Kind of different that they use butcher's paper essentially to act as table covers here. Felt Italianesque but Southern roots; I'm from the west coast so maybe thats customary around the SE and I'm the weird one? Not a big deal, reminded me of 'grandma's house' is all. Not the Ceacker Barrel experience, that's for sure. While passing through to the restrooms we learned that the Owner and restaurant were featured on Guy Fieri's 'Diners Drive-Ins and Dives". Validated the fact we ventured out that way for a really good brunch meal. Neat. While parking and wait time might be a challenge, especially in the heat and humidity, the food and drinks are great. My best friend brought me here for breakfast. This is a very cute and quaint breakfast spot conveniently located right off of Roswell Rd (closer to the Buckhead). Reservations are necessary, as it's a small dining area that fills up quickly. Parking is minimal. The customer service is excellent. The food is okay. I'm not completely wow'd. I was hungry and it was edible. I expected more due to the hype that led me here. It was a bit bland, not enough flavor for me. The fresh homemade jam that was served with the biscuits was a highlight for me. Overall, It was a nice one-time experience. read more
Best breakfast restaurant in Atlanta. Quality, fresh hot food with excellent service. The biscuits are obviously a big hit but everything was. The bacon is thick cut. The potatoes bowl was excellent as were the hash brown cakes. This will be our go to place for breakfast / brunch. read more

Buttermilk Kitchen is a charming Southern brunch restaurant. It is inside country style home that looks small on the outside but has a bit more space inside than it lets on. This is a really popular restaurant so make sure reservation if possible or be prepared to wait 30+ minutes for a walk-in on the weekend. The servers are all very friendly and the food came out promptly. We got the Fried Pickled Green Tomatoes, Hash Bowl, Chicken Biscuit, Espresso Martini, and Classic Mimosa. The Fried Green Pickled Tomatoes were alright... I have had better elsewhere but the ranch that this came with was pretty good and definitely elevated the dish. The Chicken Biscuit, which is arguably their most popular dish, was a hefty size. I thought it was all a bit dry, so I was not too impressed. But I liked the cheesy grits that it came with! My boyfriend liked the Hash Bowl and the drinks were good as well. Overall, I think that this place is a bit overhyped. I would consider coming back once in a blue moon as it is also a bit costly. read more

Cutest breakfast spot inside. The biscuits are very good but very thick not like the average flaky biscuit. The blueberry basil jam was like something I had never tried before but so good. Eggs were very nice and the pimento cheese grits ..... could eat this for every meal. Hash brown fritters were good but nothing crazy. The chicken biscuit was awesome. Truffle tots are good. Must go place for my family and I when traveling through GA! It was our first time visiting, made a reservation just in case but the place was not packed at all (it was a weekday). Our server was very nice and let us pick our table and explained the menu thoroughly which we appreciated. Ended up ordering their chicken biscuit with other breakfast items as well as a cappuccino. The chicken biscuit was absolutely delicious and we cannot wait to have it again. The cappuccino I do not recommend, but the good food makes up for it. Do they allow Registered Emotional Support Animals?
It didn't post that they wouldn't but I've also never seen any on my visits. I have an ESA and I would take him there so I say go for it! They have a cute patio seating area as well
