Stepping from the bright daylight of the outside world into the dark entryway took my eyes several delayed seconds to adjust, thankfully the staff called out where to watch my step across the threshold. Once I could see again, I was able to take in the modern decor - hotel chic or art gallery without the art. A quick perusal of the menu and I was left a bit disappointed since several of the items I was banking on are no longer on the menu, new chef yada yada. So we elected for the 'bread service' and cheese. The 'bread service' was a single yeast roll, to share for two. What a joke! I get it's $5 pp but at least serve two rolls. Our server said something along the lines of sharing when the 'bread service' did arrive, which we did. And then promptly ordered another roll, to share. The cheese over a fruit bread was rich and heavy and an odd choice. The favorite dish of the evening by far was the corn agnolotti and braised lobster, it was beautiful. But, the teeny tiny agnolotti were laughable. It would have been such a complete dish if it was reasonably sized stuffed pasta. The filet was tender and perfectly prepared and came with a side of giant fries. The fries being the most unexpected proportioned item of the evening. Would have prepared a couple stalks of broccolini with the filet, and maybe still a few fries. Overall, it was a nice meal, but nothing that seared into my memory like the sudden light to dark shock of entering the establishment. We were left so meh, we opted to skip dessert altogether and explore a second location for sweets. read more

I loved this spot from the moment I walked in. It's very dark in the bar area and then opens up to a lit dining room. There is quirky art thoughtfully scattered throughout the space. The staff was happy. I noticed it immediately. Our server had been there for 25 years. The food? Flawless. We started with the mango cheese. And then, the buttered lobster--silky, and perfect. The lemon sole was a firm flaky fish that sat over veggies. Delightful. It's rare to find a spot where the vibe, the service, and the food all align so effortlessly, but Aria nails it. Came here for my birthday and had a reservation. There's valet parking since the lot is quite small. We didn't opt to do the tasting menu but they split the apps for us. We got a sashimi dish and a lobster dish to start which were both delectable even if you don't love fish. I got a filet minion which was delightful. I can't imagine how this restaurant got so many good reviews! The prices are through the roof, which is OK if the food is also stellar. Our meal was mediocre at best. When the prices are this high,I find it offensive to charge for bread service. $5 PER PERSON for a piece of bread!? I ordered lamb chops medium well, they arrived rare. By the time they came back from the kitchen, my dining companions had finished their meals. There were items on our bill that we had not ordered, which, of course they removed once we pointed them out... but I shouldn't have to inspect the bill. The best meal I've had in recent memory. I've been following this restaurant for a while since I knew I was visiting Atlanta. The parking lot is small, but somehow the valet makes it work. The restaurant is also small inside and it was loud during my visit. Luckily I couldn't make out any conversations that would've disturbed my reading. I ordered the grilled tender beef, steak frites, and caramel ice cream sandwich. The grilled tender beef was definitely tender. The BBQ sauce was lick-the-plate-clean-worthy. The steak was the better than the best steakhouses I've patronized. The true definition of tender and seasoned, it was perfectly cooked and I was tempted to dip the fries in the peppercorn sauce. I could eat that steak and sauce for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if they were healthy. Dessert was perfect as well. The caramel ice cream sandwich was more salty than sweet which was a pleasant surprise. The honeycombs were a nice touch that I loved. Plenty of crunch and texture for the palette. The staff are friendly and work very efficiently. Plates were cleared as quickly as tables were turned over for the next diners. Romantic atmosphere for Valentine's date night. Our lovely server Kate is attentive and pleasant. Enjoyed the complimentary baked foccacia with Olives and smoked almonds. Its a 3 course meal. I started with a glass of crowley pinot noir. Ordered the lobster and hamachi sashimi. For entrees we both got steak. new york strip steak and filet mignon. I prefer the ny steak but u also like the sauce of the filet mignon. For desserts we ordered one of each angel cake and the chocolate cake. Great to dine again at Aria and it was phenomenal... My friends and I are big foodies and this was certainly up there with meal of the year so far! We enjoyed foie gras and cheese appetizers, then dover sole, scallops and duck for mains, and also mushrooms and broccoli as sides. A selection of incredible desserts as well! Highly recommend... ambience, service and food all excellent, and best fine dining in Atlanta! It's good, not great. Dishes are imbalanced in composition of ingredients and seasoning. Most things look better than they taste. Some items are swimming in sauce that should be reduced in consistency and quantity. Others could benefit from more for flavor and moisture. Salt was either way high or low. Cocktails at this price point should be excellent -- I got a lukewarm martini with a sad little olive. Service was enthusiastic if a little pushy and sporadically attentive and absent. Service was terrific. We sat in the bar. Atmosphere was lively but quiet enough to have a conversation. Meal was tasty Romaine salad with thinly sliced apples and red onion. We substituted olive oil for the vinaigrette. Painted hills short ribs were tender and flavorful. We chose truffle whipped potatoes and charred broccoli to accompany. Both were great. The biggest surprise of the night was the celery soup--it was way better than I expected and ended up being one of my favorites. The service was next-level--the best I've ever had. The staff was super friendly and on top of everything for the whole two hours. Little details, like folding my napkin when I went to the bathroom, really stood out. After finally participating in one of Aria's periodic pop-ups (join their distribution list or follow them on IG for updates), I made sure to visit during Buckhead Restaurant Week. Aria is cozy and intimate. They truly maximize seating in a very quaint spot. Aria is equal parts fine dining & community. There is constant chatter from happy, well-fed patrons & everyone is treated as if they are family. I sat in the bar & received outstanding service from the staff. While Jen was the table lead, it was truly a team effort & everyone was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, & efficient The 8-course tasting menu was way too tempting to pass on. Here were the courses: Cocktail: Howitzer Yellowtail Hamachi Sashimi Ruby Red & Golden Beets Lobster Bisque Seared Salmon Tenderloin of Berkshire Pork Short Rib of Painted Hills Beef Passion Fruit Sorbet Valrhona Chocolate Cream Pie I loved the Howitzer, as the spiced pear paired well with the brandy, and everything is better w/sparkling wine. The hamachi was subtle, but you could taste the sweet, spicy, & salty notes of the accompaniments. I loved the pairing of Fuji apples & sashimi. I loved the beets. The tender ones were divine w/the tangy, smooth Meyer lemon yogurt. The crispy quinoa sprinkles elevated the dish. The lobster bisque was velvet. I wanted to take the crispy sunchokes home w/me for a snack. I felt the salmon and cauliflower mousseline lacked salt & I wanted more lemon. I loved the pork tenderloin & the mixture of the carrot puree w/the natural jus. The short rib plate was a comforting elevation of a Sunday dinner. The beef was so tender that I did not need a knife. I experienced their heavenly sorbet at the pop up. So I was delighted that it was again a meal highlight. The merengue was ethereal. The big negatives: Waitress asked if we wanted more bread. Husband explicitly asked if it was an extra charge, and she clearly said no. Yet later we learned it was. Similar thing happened when we arrived. Our table wasn't ready. Rather than ask us to wait, the manager came over and invited us to join him at the bar. It seemed like a drink would be included but no. Just tell us to wait. It was weird. The tasting menu was not at all inventive. Food was good but nothing special or interesting. Dining room was very loud. If it's a dining experience at a lower price point, it'd be fine. But they're pricing themselves as a high end restaurant, and it's not. read more

Holy cow! A near-perfect dinner at this Buckhead spot. Service - spot on. Presentation - glamorous. Ambiance - gracious. And the food? Spectacular. Reservations are a must, and ours were honored to the minute. The restaurant lives in what must have been a house at one time. Entry is on the side of the building towards the back. It's L-shaped with a bar on the left as you enter, with a few high tables adjacent. Then there's a central section with a few tables plus a back dining area. I'd estimate 30 tables in total. Sound is subdued, lights are dim. Décor is upscale and fancy without being stuffy. As you look around at the white tablecloths and the tables set just so, you know that you're in for a treat. Wear your nice duds - this is a cocktail dress and suit-with- no-tie kind of place. I was underdressed in nice jeans and a sweater. Our server, Tray, was impressive. He described his favorites on the menu so vividly that our mouths were watering just by his words. Our orders were accurate, our glasses were full, we were checked on often enough to be cared for but not so often to be an interruption. Even his innocent inquiry into a special occasion resulted in a little something extra for dessert. More on that later. THANK YOU, Tray. We started out with a pair of apps to share. A ball of exquisitely creamy burrata is served atop a trio of endives with sprigs of arugula, adorned with paper thin slices of prosciutto cotto, and sprinkled with black truffles and a dash of olive oil. The tart arugula, the salty prosciutto, the earthy truffles, the creamy sweetness of the burrata. I'm salivating just thinking about how delicious this was. We also tried the red & golden beets. Quartered red and yellow beets are served in a pool of Meyer lemon yogurt, sprinkled with arugula. The Meyer lemons make the yogurt extra tangy and the perfect foil for the firm sweetness of the beets. On to the entrees. I had duck breast. Medallions of duck are succulently prepared medium rare with a honey spice glaze. They're served over a bed of slightly crunchy steamed savoy cabbage with small cubes of apple and a small scoop of crunchy long-black rice. Visually, the plating was a piece of art. Every Single Bite was a forkful from heaven. Can you tell that I really, REALLY enjoyed this? Hands down the best duck I've ever eaten. Also tried braised pork. The succulent pork has the characteristics of an all-day simmered pot roast. The meat is fork-tender and shreds as you cut each bite. Not sure what it's braised in, but the pork is moist and very flavorful. Served on a bed of parmesan polenta, and a few stalks of charred broccoli. Another delicious choice. Around the table, others tried salmon and filet mignon. No knife needed for the perfect filet. So tender, the fork did the trick. Medium well, juicy and lean. Served over a pool of celery root puree and a pool of red wine sauce, adorned with a single onion ring and a few stalks of steamed asparagus. The fish a filet of Chilean salmon, grilled medium with a gingery glaze and served over a mélange of green beans, zucchini and fingerling potatoes. Needless to say there were no leftovers! On to dessert. We tried a trio of sorbets. Once scoop each of raspberry, passion fruit and lemon. Raspberry was my favorite - tart/sweet. Lemon was made with those Meyer lemons and super tart. Delicious. Tray arranged for our plated cheesecake to be adorned with a Happy Birthday message and a candle. A wonderful surprise which was appreciated and was sufficiently embarrassing when everyone around us noticed. The star, though, wasn't the message but the cheesecake! A 6" round 2" thick warm chocolate swirl cheesecake on a graham cracker crust is served with a dollop of freshly whipped cream and a flourish of dark chocolate sauce. It's creamy, NY-style; rich and luscious. In sum, this was one fantastic meal. I don't know that I can think of how I would have improved it. Aria is HIGHLY recommended. read more

Although I had a nice time and the service and presentation was nice, I felt the food was lacking the same standard. Nothing wrong with the food but I felt like some things like an avocado or apple were simply placed on a dish for the aesthetic but did not fully compliment the other ingredients nor the dish as a whole. I'm a martini girlie and the dirty martini was perfect. The focaccia bread I could eat a million pieces for rreeeeal. Our server was the sweetest thing and her recommendations were on point! My fiancé and I shared the beets and yogurt app (that lemon yogurt was delish), then we had the duck and sole entrees (both incredible but the duck was my fav). Everyone was nice & cordial - the hostess, waiters, management, bartenders all were so pleasant. The service really added on to the experience. The drinks were great, their selection was top notch. We recently had a very poor experience here. We were looking for a restaurant to celebrate my wife's milestone birthday and Aria came to mind. I called the restaurant to ask if they did anything special for birthdays, and the manager I spoke to said they offered a dessert and would customize the plate for us. Seemed like a pretty standard offer, but we had always liked the restaurant in the past, so we were more excited about celebrating at Aria than anything else. Our server was friendly and gave some nice recommendations on food and drinks. I ordered one of the drinks she recommended. However, my wife doesn't drink much and thought that the server was a little too pushy on trying to get her to order a drink throughout the night, even up until dessert. We ordered the Korean grilled tender beef and crisped berkshire pork belly appetizers and both tasted great. For entrees, we ordered the seared sea scallops and short ribs. Our server told us that there would be about 5 sea scallops on the entree, but there were only 4, and not overly jumbo as she described them. However, I liked the flavors on the dish. As for the short ribs, the ribs themselves tasted great. However, the peas and carrots tasted horrible! It legit tasted like it was served straight out of a grocery can. It did not taste fresh and had no seasoning whatsoever. Honestly, we both agreed that the dish would've been much better had they left the peas and carrots out completely. For a dish like this, I would've preferred a side like brussels sprouts, green beans, or corn. Really anything, or NOTHING at all, would've been better. It really just diminished the overall quality of the entree. I remember telling my wife before she tried it to eat the peas and carrots first, because then the dish would gradually taste better rather than trying to short ribs first, then being disappointed by the sides. For a $46 dish, this shouldn't have even been a concern. I'm still appalled that those words came out of my mouth. Even more appalled at what I tasted. The real kicker of the night was the dessert. We ordered the caramel nut cake, which tasted fine. They even added the Happy Birthday note as promised. But the issue came when we received the bill and the dessert was on it. At first I thought maybe it was a mistake. So I asked the server, and she told us that desserts are never comped. I was surprised, but I informed her of my conversation with the manager and asked if she could speak to him and see if he remembered our conversation. When she returned, she said he did remember the conversation, but that what he meant was that they would only add the note but not comp the dessert. REALLY?! I was shocked! Aside from the fact that almost every restaurant offers some kind of birthday offer, the fact that the manager himself told me, and then tried to backtrack was mind blowing. He had a chance to make things right by simply saying sorry for the misunderstanding, but we'll go ahead and comp you for it this time. But he failed to make things right. He never came to our table to apologize or discuss the possible misunderstanding, probably because he knew he made a mistake. The craziest thing was what the server told us next. She said that while they don't comp desserts, if we HADN'T ordered a dessert, she would've sent us home with a couple of cookies or something of that nature. WHAT?! Ok let that sink in for a moment. If we don't order dessert, then they would offer us something extra. So after all that, the server had another opportunity to make things right by apologizing for the misunderstanding and saying, you know what, here's the cookies anyways, and I hope you have a happy birthday. Nope! None of that. We were simply accused of being the ones who were wrong and offered no compensation whatsoever after a bill of about ~$170. Afterwards, on the drive home we both agreed that we would NOT be returning to Aria again. Very sad as this used to be a celebratory place for us where we celebrated our anniversary and milestone birthday. But the poor experience will always be our lasting memory. read more

Aria is a true dining experience for the senses. The ambience is very romantic and intimate, perfect for a date. We visited for a date night and truly enjoyed the experience. Aria offers a tasting menu and a la carte menu. We decided to do the a la carte menu and started with the sashimi of hamachi--so fresh and flavorful with apples, jalapeños, radishes and avocado. A unique blending of flavors. We also had the aged manchego starter with bread, jelly, and walnuts. Nice and sweet. For our entrees, I had the Georgia Trout garnished with grapes and assorted vegetables and my date had the salmon and thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the unique flavor profile of the trout entree and the fish was very well cooked. We had the coconut tart for dessert and it was incredible. Everything was seasoned perfectly, coupled with sides that truly rounded out the dish. Even though I am still giving them 5 stars, I am slightly annoyed that nothing was mentioned regarding the person with a birthday (we let them know through RESY). I'm not sure what the system is, but a restaurant of that caliber should continually pay attention to the little details. Nonetheless, I give them a 9.4 out of 10. My husband and I recently moved to Atlanta and have been very excited to check out the local fine dining scene. After hearing some great word of mouth and seeing accolades in last media, we decided to give this Atlanta mainstay a try on Monday, 9/24 to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. Sadly, it didn't come close to living up to the hype. The space is well designed and well lit, although it could use a little background music. The staff was cordial enough, although our server was downright unpleasant at times (although we all have bad days). We both appreciated the detail of offering both white and black napkins upon being seated. It does downhill from there. We started with the lobster and black truffle burrata - both sounded amazing and we were so excited to kick the meal off right. Sadly, that was not the case. The lobster lacked any flavor and the burrata was boring and served on a bed of arugula that didn't taste fresh at all. For entrees I had the duck and my husband had the short rib, both of which were just fine. The duck felt tough and was a fatty. For dessert we shared the blueberry upside down cake with lemon ice cream, which was just fine. The ice cream was tasty. We have no problem at all spending on a great meal, but we left here hugely disappointed and sick to our stomach that this meal cost us $400. Outstanding is the best word. Came here trying to impress my wife on a date night (yes that's a thing). Aria did not disappoint. We started with the chickpea fritters which were very good. You'll remember we have many food issues (I have tree nut allergy, alpha gal and am diabetic - she has a gluten allergy and is dairy free..... we are a nightmare at restaurants)..... Aria handled it like the great place they say they are. I had the trout and she had the sole. The trout was cooked perfectly but I did the dish a disservice as I had them take off the almond crust (tree nuts) and that left it a bit under seasoned. Lemon and salt fixed it up. The sole was fantastic. The crust was crusty while the fish was tender. The truffle mashed potatoes were a bit strong in truffle. I had a crab cake on the side and it was very good. We finished with with the sorbet and it was the perfect tart and sweet combo. The restaurant is best described as refined. I wanted her to feel like it was a important date and she did. Thank you Aria. So, great restaurant for dates (obviously) and business or adult family meals. I would not bring preteens here (although they do have kids selections) as the ambiance isn't exactly for preteens and I believe most tables are not looking to eat next to younger kids. I had one of my best evenings in Atlanta at this nice restaurant which, thanks to four lovely ladies at the bar - there are only five bar stools, and I had one of them - and the most welcoming and charming bartender I have ever had the pleasure to meet - yes that's you Stefano - had me nursing my French Whore- I shall have you know Sir that that is a cocktail and sheds not a trace of ill repute on this establishment - well into the evening. Halfway through, we made a pact to go to a nearby karaoke bar, but we were having so much fun with Stefano that this never materialized. Be warned, however. All four stars are for ambiance and service, which I rate around 10/10. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the food (4/10), which, apart from some great coffee, was not what I expected. Expectation may be part of the problem here. That and some uninformed personal choices. I noticed that my ladies were swooning over their pork rinds and scallops. I, however, had not done my research. I had imagined Aria to be cut from the the same fusion/small plate cloth as Lucian's or Atlas. Not so. Aria has been around for over forty years, and it's not like that. I am a small-but-tasty-portion diner. Aria, unfortunately for me, is bland and has significant portions. The beet salad was all beets with no flavor. The burrata was one big blob of white cheese in the middle of a flavorless salad. Again, the trout was a massive piece of fish on a bed of spinach - better than the salads, but still, a dish that was, at once, both too much and too little. The Panna cotta was bland and unimaginative - it does not hold a candle to Lucian's inspired version. I will be back, but not for the food. I will return to shoot the breeze with a Stefano, hopefully, reunite with my ladies and nurse another French Whore back to health! read more

Pricey but great experience. Server was excellent. We did the tasting menu, 8 courses, with everything from salmon and crab cakes (smaller portions due to the number of courses) to short ribs. For.the two of us, with drinks, the bill was just over $300, which I expected. Very classy place and laid back part of Buckhead. She's a foodie and frequest fine diner...she really enjoyed it. Valet parking was inexpensive and probably not even necessary. We would definitely go back. read more

Great experience! Rachel was our server. We were indecisive on what we wanted and she asked us to just tell her what we wanted and she would structure the meal. Very impressed with how seamlessly she seemed to be connected with the kitchen and set up the courses perfectly for us. Food was excellent! read more
