The service was amazing if it wasn't for the cashier I would never want to go back she's a honest sister. I spent $87 on our food my kids loved there fried chicken and fries I got baked cat fish with cheese eggs, an grits the fish saved the meal if it wasn't for the fish it would've been a bland meal. I got corn bread which was horrendous the pinto beans which were salty and the Mac and cheese would've had a chance if it was baked more. It's not hard to please kids but my taste buds are different an yes they are handicap accessible. As far as the ambiance it was clean but plain the owner needs a visit from Gordon Ramsay and no I'm not being funny I'm being serious if it wasn't for that young lady at the front counter the cashier I probably would have gave this place a 3 so my experience was really a five just because of that young lady I gave you a 4 my food I really said it was horrible

The catfish is still GOOD.... But they're inconsistent. My previous review, I wrote that you get two filets. Today I received skinny strips... When I asked them about it they said sometimes it's two filets, other times it's three strips... just depending on how they prep the fish for the day because they cut it in half. What? Choose one and stick with it because that's not amount of fish. If that's the case that would be four strips. To make it worse, While waiting I heard the guy bagging it ask the cashier if she wanted the extra fish cause he just needed an order. Only to realize that wasn't really "extra fish." It was the missing half that should have been on my plate (making it two full filets, especially if they've made it). It's the principle. The Mac and cheese was also super dry today. Actually, it seemed to be mostly over cooked noodles and hardly any cheese. I had to come home and doctor it up... add my own cheese. Disappointed..... I knew I was going to be over that way, and had been looking forward to this plate all week! :(

Unfortunately there aren't many positives on the plate I received. The greens were overly salted, the mac and cheese was lacking in flavor, the rice was what I would assume is instant rice and super oily, and lastly the meatloaf was okay. The oiliness of everything is a massive turnoff.

Very welcoming atmosphere and great customer service. I intended on trying the catfish dinner, but the turkey wings looked good so I went with that, green beans and yams with catfish on the side. I was underwhelmed by the food. The turkey wings needed more flavor, the rice was tasteless, the catfish tasted like rubber, and the yams were okay. The green beans was the best food on my plate.

Want fried fish for my mom. Stumbled across this restsurant on Yelp. Now I'm thinking to myself this place wasn't here last year or before. But after some thought decided to drive to the west side (northwest) to give it a try. They had some business (people) on a Sunday afternoon, 8/7/22. Well I guess we'll go in and check it out. Not too big and not too small of a space. Enough space to sit down, but you can definitely get your food to go. Food: ordered 3 plates 1. Fried tilapia over yellow rice, yams and corn. 2. Turkey wing over yellow rice w/gravy, green beans and cabbage. 3. Turkey Salisbury over dressing with gravy, collard greens and cabbage. 1 sweet tea. 1 almond palmer (the lemonade is not "homemade")--- It's made at home alright. Tasted powdered. But I drank it anyway. Lol 1 can drink ($1.00 you pick out the cooler) yes, a cooler that you take when you go to the park or you hosting bbq at home. Yeah. that one. #3 was my plate. I sampled what wasn't on mine. Yellow rice plain. Nope. No flavor tasted faucet water. Green Beans were dumped out the can. Corn kernels they tried to fix up. I think they were left overs. Yams canned. Yellow rice with turkey gravy doable. Cabbage a little oily but good. Collard greens with smoked turkey and pepper was shockingly good. I can't give an opinion on turkey wing since I didn't taste it. I don't really care for tilapia so I didn't taste. But that Turkey Salisbury is a no! DON'T. Nice size portion but DON'T. Now the cornbread dressing confused me...yellow sweet cornbread. It was not dry, not mushy. I wanted extra gravy on mine...maybe I'll order again with a different meat? Location: Well if you're truly from Atlanta and know some of the original street names it's at the corner of Simpson & Ashby. If you're post 2000 it's Boone & Lowery Blvd. If you're into the Gentrification era West Midtown (but don't be fooled by this description you're in the 'hood). Parking. Small private lot. About 7 cars spaces. You can make your own spot like I did. Two others made it work too. Pricing... well that depends on your budget and its subjective. I about had a heart attack when she said $59.xx. I had it. But obviously I didn't pay attention to the menu price or my math was not mathing. Ask for your receipt...because I didn't and I'm still baffled. But I will say the portion size is great. Enough to get two meals out of plate 1 & 3. I'll return to try breakfast one day. Maybe 4th quarter (October or November) I'll see if I want to try Sunday dinner again because I'm not convinced I want to spend $60 often here. But go support and let the rest of us know what you think.

No, you just cannot trust not seeing how your food is cooked nowadays. We have to know by a merchants trust and commitment to health that our interest is at best. The food here was like anywhere else. Wrapped tight in a bag before you see what you are getting. I purchased salmon and grits and to be honest I was not impressed. They tasted like the local person did on Evans Mill Rd in Lithonia - has our votes been vetoed to be subject to GMO ingredients on most menus that honor profit over true health? How did we lose this choice? The ones that keep you coming back for more are hard to find in our black owned establishments or they come with a cost! I'm just saying that while this restaurant is in a great location for the history of the area. The choices we pay for should be the reason why we keep coming back. I would not plan on coming back but encourage others to try and review.

Came here last week with my friend from Seattle and I'm back again this week. There's a gringo menu and a soul food menu so be sure to ask for the soul food menu if they don't know you. It's a small neighborhood place in which the customers are loyal. I met Cliff, the owner, who seems like a really good guy. He says if you don't like the food you don't pay for the food.

It came with a cornbread, a buttery biscuit, and banana pudding. I was pleasantly surprised by the other items since the ordering site only listed the entree. Best Shrimp & Grits I've had to date. The shrimp was fresh and not overcooked or rubbery. The grits were smooth. The gravy was well seasoned, but not overly salty or rich. The cornbread and bread or biscuit was good, but not extraordinary. Those were quite dense and heavy paired with the other food. I loved the banana pudding. This meal jumpstarted my banana pudding hyper fixation. Very fragrant and not too thick yet still nice and creamy. It wasn't overly sweet or heavy either. It was a good dessert to round out the meal. I hope to come here again and have an actual sit down experience. Curious to see the ambiance!

So today I had a REAL taste for some good soul food... you know the kind that just hits your spirit…read more But I was not about to make that drive all the way to Atlanta, so I decided to order through Uber Eats from Busy Bee Let me tell y'all... that was one of the BEST decisions I've made in a minute! I ordered for my whole crew -- my mom, my sister, my brother-in-law, my nephew, and myself -- and we went ALL IN. We had smothered pork chops, buy one get one free smothered chicken wings AND fried chicken wings (because why not! ), plus broccoli & cheese casserole, turnip greens, mashed potatoes, and that cornbread stuffing... BABYYYYY... when I say every single bite was GOOD... I mean GOOD GOOD Everything was seasoned just right, cooked with love, and giving real, authentic, down-home soul food. You can tell this is the kind of food that's been perfected over time -- not rushed, not watered down... just straight comfort on a plate. We were literally sitting there eating and just looking at each other like "yeah... this is it right here" That's when you KNOW the food hit! I'm already planning my next order -- whether it's for my family again or just me having a "treat myself" day. Because yes... it's THAT serious. And listen... I'm just gonna be honest... in MY humble opinion this right here is better than Paschal's. I said what I said! Don't come for me But for real, thank you Busy Bee for coming THROUGH with some amazing, authentic soul food that really fed the soul today If you haven't tried it yet... what are you waiting on?! Go get you some! Trust me... you're gonna be thinking about that next plate before you even finish the first one

I ordered take-out online and it said the order would take 45 minutes. Our order ended up taking more like one hour plus. I ordered the two-piece fried chicken platter, and the food runner told me the kitchen originally was going to give me only two drumsticks, but she told the kitchen to make me another order because two drumsticks was too little meat. I appreciated that gesture. Unfortunately, I didn't think their fried chicken lived up to the hype. I thought the skin was nicely crisp, but the flavor was simple and not impressive for the price and long wait. Also, they completely missed one of my side orders, and I didn't realize it until we had already left. I've eaten fried chicken from all kinds of different cuisines, so I found the fried chicken here a bit lackluster. Maybe their other food is better, but I don't think the fried chicken is worth the price or the wait. Also, be careful of missing food in your order because from reading some reviews, it seems that it happens too often.

The chicken was alright, but I wouldn't say it was the best I ever had, let alone consider it the world's best. This joint is located in the lower hub, but I believe there's also an outside street entrance. Upon entering, we were told to sit anywhere. The interior is rather dim, and it wasn't super clean as there were still some crumbs on our table from the last people who dined there. There is also a very casual feel to the place, exemplified by the fact that food is served on styrofoam plates and paper trays. FOOD: 2-Piece Dark (Thigh & Leg) (4/5) - Chicken was nice and crispy, but nothing crazy special to me. I was expecting it to be spicier. Liked it more with the Louisiana hot sauce on the table. The chicken rests on a slab of white bread and is served with average slaw and sweet baked beans. Fried Okra (3.5/5) - First time having fried okra. Not bad, and I guess frying it eliminates the slimy texture associated with okra. SERVICE: I am not usually one to complain about service. The person who served us was sweet when we did interact, but it was so hard to get their attention to order and get the bill. But beyond that, the kitchen was noticeably SLOW. My brother and I literally only ordered one plate/portion to share since we wanted to try more places, but it took over half an hour to receive our food. They do emphasize that food is cooked to order, but I still found the wait to be baffling. TLDR// Come here or don't, but if you do, make sure you are not on a time crunch. Maybe I am just being harsh because I was expecting more from a place claiming to have the world's best.

I went with the baked chicken, which comes with rice and gravy and includes two sides. I picked cabbage and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was exactly what you'd hope for--cheesy, creamy, smooth, and flavorful with satisfying cheese pulls in every bite. The cabbage was cooked just right--tender but not mushy--with great seasoning. The rice and gravy had deep, balanced flavor without being too salty or heavy. In fact, nothing was oversalted, which is a rare and welcome surprise in a small spot like this. The meal also came with a small cornbread muffin that hit the spot. Dessert options included hot cobblers like apple and peach, along with a tempting variety of cake slices--all of which looked fantastic.
