In addition to the table service, there is a buffet with an impressive selection of meats, dim sum, sushi rolls, curry, vegetables, snacks, fresh fruit, desserts, milk tea, and other beverages. The quality of the food was very good, especially considering the price. Everything I tried was fresh and flavorful, and the variety made it easy to sample a little of everything. It's located at Perimeter Mall so there's plenty of parking, although they turned the parking right out front the entrance into paid parking only. The food itself was good but the meats could've been marinated more to add more flavor. The other food, like the dumplings and buns were not the best - they were cold and a bit dry. Maybe it's because we went towards the end of lunch, but I would still expect the food to be fresh since they transition right into dinner. Upgrading for $20 is not worth it. The sushi selection is extremely limited and there's also very limited additional wagyu on that menu that you can't already get from the regular all-you-can eat display. For an additional $20, I expected a lot more options and they claim there's these sushi/sashimi options when explaining it to us when in reality, it's only 3 hand rolls available to order. Overall, the food was still very good and the value is worth it. I don't like that they "bride" people for 5-star reviews though by offering free dishes. It skews their ratings both on Yelp and Google to be higher than it should because of this. read more

I'd give the food 3 stars at bests. Looking back, I really wish we hadn't chosen the premium Gold Tier menu today. The restaurant forces you to select and commit to a dining plan on their system before you are even allowed to enter and see what food is actually available. To make matters worse, there is a clear discrepancy between their physical menu and digital ordering system. Upon reviewing our photos later, we noticed that several items listed on the physical menu (which were not crossed out) don't even have a matching category, tag, or option on the tablet ordering system. P.S. Before anyone questions whether I simply missed these items at the buffet/snack bar: I personally went to the buffet area at least three times and reordered using tablet ordering system multiple times. There wasn't even a single tag or label for those missing items. If they were supposedly there, the real question should be why they were never restocked. Charging $78 a person while failing to properly update the digital menu or sync it with the physical one is incredibly misleading. You shouldn't charge this premium price without letting customers know exactly what is missing beforehand. There were empty spots at the buffet stations, and the restocking speed was painfully slow. I wish we had known this before coming; we would have happily just done the lunch special instead of paying for the Tier menu. Our waitress was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and easily the best part of the experience. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the rest of the service. The hosts seemed overwhelmed, and the front area felt understaffed to handle the crowd. We arrived about 20 minutes before our reservation. My friend is currently wearing an Aircast boot for a foot injury, so we separated and had her wait for the table first since walking is difficult for her. The entrance was crowded with waiting guests, but no one told her that there were actually open seats behind the bar. Even though it was obvious she was injured and needed a place to sit, the host did not offer any alternatives. She eventually asked if she could sit at the bar, only to discover plenty of open seats behind it. It would have been much more thoughtful if the host had actively mentioned this to the waiting guests. The ordering system was another major source of frustration. The tablets at our table either had an outdated system or were dying--they frequently froze, and we had to try multiple times just to place an order. Even worse, the system missed one of our limited special items entirely. We actually lost track because, after we submitted our order, they swapped our tablet for a new one, and the system got completely confused. We had to ask at least three times about the missing item before it was finally addressed. Huge thanks to our waitress, who personally went back to the kitchen to communicate for us and ensure we got our missing items. Without her, I'm not sure the issue would have been resolved at all. As for the food, the restocking speed was disappointing. One of the milk tea machines was virtually empty for the duration of our visit--it only had a tiny splash left at the very bottom, well below the line, and was never refilled. The meat was sliced extremely thin, which wouldn't normally be an issue, but due to the type of grill plate they use, the meat burns instantly and constantly sticks to the grill plate. If you're going to slice meat that thin, the grill setup really needs to be reconsidered. One more thing: the restaurant's advertisements are completely outdated. They still advertise a $28 membership card, which is no longer a valid dining option (it is $58 a year now). I wish someone had informed us about this before we made our choices. Overall, I wouldn't return to this location. The waitstaff were warm and professional and worked hard, but the incomplete menu, slow restocking, and poor communication made the experience disappointing. Absolutely loved my experience at Chubby Cattle! I got the standard buffet and spent two hours enjoying all the delicious offerings - including lamb, many different waygu cuts, shrimp, sushi/sashimi, and more! My favorite cut was the Waygu bbq thick cut top sirloin. My boyfriend's favorite was the Waygu thin cut knuckle. The fruit soda dispenser definitely shined - I enjoyed a lemon peach concoction. Pepsi products were also offered. All of the seafood was especially fresh - it didn't even need sauce! I really enjoyed the salmon sashimi and crab legs. However, the dipping butter was not tasty. It was very oily and had a strange flavor to it. I recommend a combination of the bbq sauce and white salt on the table. The atmosphere was great! Large collections of manga, traditional Japanese masks, and cute signs of the different mascots covered the walls. My waitress, Leah, was fantastic! She walked us through the buffet area, made helpful (and delicious) suggestions, and explained the membership (without being pushy). I didn't purchase the membership today ($58 per year for discounted pricing and additional perks), but I'll definitely consider it in the future. We paid $105 (after tax, before tip - during the week) for the AYCE Waygu buffet for 2, which included sushi, beverages (including milk tea), desserts, hot foods, fruit, crab legs, and dim sum. Last year we tried Wagyu House and ended up getting a membership. This year I was excited to try their sister location. Unfortunately, I ended up disappointed. The place is located right where Perimeter Mall is. I haven't been on that side in years, so I had no clue that you have to pay to park. No biggie. I went with two other friends. Initially, the told one of my friends that she could do the $35 special on her on, but once our time started they came back and told her she had to go with what the table is going with. Which I thought was the rule, but didn't know if they were slightly different than Wagyu House. The layout of the restaurant gives off casual vibes and is nice. There weren't a whole lot of ppl there. One of the reasons I chose the weekend is because of the seafood options. However, there were no crab legs or AYCE seafood options. That was my first reason for feeling like I got cheated because in the 90 minutes we were there, it never came out. The other issue was that the food we ordered didn't come out. When it did, all the food was not delivered to the table. We had to ask our second server for the food because the first server said she would check on it, but it never came. At the time one of my friends hit me with some crazy news and therefore I didn't make a big fuss with the manager. The Wagyu that came with our tier was absolutely delicious. Everything else was meh. To me I feel like we were cheated out of experiencing what we came for. Speaking with another friend, who went to the Duluth location the week before, and both of us agreed that Wagyu House was much better. First time and the experience was 10/10. I got the Gold tier so I can try the A5 Wagyu. Nite the first 2 section of the gold tier: you can only order 1 order from each section and that's it. Then the rest of the selections within the gold menu is unlimited, on top of everything in silver tier. I was too hungry to take pictures and wish I could have take more pics. Overall the meat quality was top notch. The A5 melts in your mouth. And some other meat, the seasoning was really good with peppery taste. I recommended getting the gold tier. I love ayce bbq and went to try out this new restaurant that opened in perimeter! They have everything you can think of - sushi, all kinds of wagyu, dumplings, vegetables, slushies and more. I enjoyed everything we tasted! I am normally hesitant of buffet sushi but these were being made fresh and were very good! Some of my favorite meats were the miso brisket, short rib, and wagyu ribeye! They also had a miso soup and rice machine. The rice machine is so smart because it is way more hygienic than having to self serve/scoop out a container. For drinks I got a lychee slushee which was delicious. We also ordered from the bar the matcha peachtree which was my favorite - very unique taste of peach and matcha! The soju-rita and lychee martiniz were also good choices. The service staff here were pretty kind, when first entering, they were extremely attentive, and we were seated quickly on a weekday. I did join the membership program, however, I am questioning its value due to the fact that a lot of the benefits are in California where I'm assuming they may be based. Go into this with the expectation that it is different from Korean barbecue, because it is Japanese. However, it is just as delicious. I was a bit upset about the lack of a chicken option, you're going to have to choose between kaarage or a New Orleans style chicken cartilage to grill no boneless / marinated breast or thighs. Go in with the expectation that your eyes may be bigger than your stomach cause you will be charged for access food. However, the quality of the meat was great all of the steak options we had were enjoyable, along with the pork belly! We did get silver cheer, which had a member pricing of $45.99, which I think is typically about $55 without. It's a very well decorated establishment, it reminds me of a street that you'd see with the awnings, it's a fun environment to be in. It's also nice that drinks are included with your meal. I love chubby cattle group. So when I saw this newly open place, I had to check it out. There is no tiers at this location. It's one price all you can eat. I like that you can grab your own meat as well so you don't have to wait for the servers to bring it to you. I love the decor at this location. It's a little different than the others as well. They also have manga lined up all around the whole restaurant. Do not open the manga books, please they are displays only. I noticed some of them were open. I like the idea a lot since sometimes when the kitchen is backed up, you have to wait for them to bring it to you at the other locations. I also love that this location has more variety when it comes to the side, dishes and buffet option. They actually have more desserts here and they also have a lot of different appetizers as well and the buffet. The only thing I didn't like about this location was you have to have a chubby group membership in order to get the more premium cut meats. I go maybe once a month and to a chubby group location. Maybe I should get a membership but usually at the other locations you can get Gold or Diamond tier and you can get Wagyu Otoro. It's one of my favorites and its melts in your mouth good. At this location, they only had regular Wagyu cuts, which wasn't bad, but I really like getting the diamond tier. Ever since my trip from Wagyu house I've just been blown away by the A5 Wagyu. So my sister and I weren't too keen on the traditional Thanksgiving meal this year so we dined on shabu shabu at Chubby Cattle at the Perimeter Mall today. I don't know what restaurant this used to be but they've transformed it into a hip Korean bbq spot. Inside is really nice, clean with urban vibes. Service was good. Whenever we got ready to put meat on the grill, our server was right there to assist. Our grill was changed halfway through the service to make sure we got great tasting meat each time. It was some of the best Japanese BBQ I've eaten, with tender cuts of wagyu beef that melted in my mouth. The AYCE bar with other pieces of beef and seafood plus Korean sides, soups, dumplings, drinks and desserts was plentiful. Dropped in today for lunch with a couple coworkers. Understand they're just shy of them being open and they had just started being open for "lunch". Imagine our surprise though when we found out there isn't really a lunch option, just straight up $60 all day dinner unless we sat at the bar and ordered something else (really wasn't well explained and until after we'd been sat). With the sticker shock behind us we went to work and largely was impressed with the offerings. It's obvious the meat quality is superior than just about any other ayce kbbq spots out there, maybe aside from their own top tier offerings at their other locations. While variety is good and I'm sure some ppl will appreciate it, it's pretty obvious the "also rans" are just there purely as filler. By that I mean the Chinese food section, the curries and stews, really didn't look very appetizing, and the couple bites I did try were very meh (salt and pepper shrimp for instance, just go for the cocktail shrimp instead). I will give credit to the vegetable bar for having fresh and varied things I've not seen elsewhere such as shishito peppers, king mushroom salad, etc. The dozen or so Japanese/sushi options were hit and miss, I enjoyed the seared beef and salmon nigiri, but the rolls were no better than sushi kingdom quality. Special shoutout to the Wagyu slider though, that was done surprisingly well and my coworker went back for seconds. Regarding the meat itself, vast majority of what they had and we tried were various cuts of Australia Wagyu, some lean some fatty and none we didn't like. Didn't wander much into the marinated offerings, or the fresh seafood, but looked to be plenty of options there as well. Overall, good spot and great service from John. The quality of the meat is legit great cuts, fresh, and the portions are perfect. You get enough to enjoy a variety without hitting that "I can't breathe" level of full. The setup is basically a buffet-style dream: grab your drinks, rice, veggies, and load up on meats like you're preparing to hibernate for the winter. Bonus points: * Tables have built-in ventilation, so you don't leave smelling like a campfire * Minimal grease splatter (your clothes will thank you) Surprise MVP cut of meat of the night? What really threw me off about this place was that we were expecting the chubby cattle experience we had in Duluth and this was an entirely different restaurant. I much prefer the experience of having raw meat delivered to my table. The floor was also really slippery when we went which made me concerned I would slip while holding a bunch of meat up stairs. They offer a membership: $20 annual fee which gives you a discount for you and one guest for each visit, and $59.99 off your dinner the day before, of, or after your birthday. I have to give the same tip that I give for all AYCE restaurants: MINIMIZE CARB CONSUMPTION. Rice is very cheap, but filling. You are paying a high price for quality meat, take advantage of the expensive options. I'll nibble on a couple grains of rice with each bite of meat so I don't fill up too quick. They have 3 menu tiers: Silver (Cheapest): $55.99/$45.99 for members/1 guest per member - No specialty options -- Disclaimer: This tier has wagyu options, but not A5 wagyu options Gold (Mid tier) Recommended if you have been here before: $78/$65 for members/1 guest per member - Includes all Silver Tier options - Offers A5 Wagyu options. - Each guest can choose one specialty dish out of 5 different options. - Each guest can choose one specialty meat (different from specialty dish) out of 6 different options. Diamond (Highest tier) Recommended if you have never been here before: $88/$75 for members/1 guest per member - Pretty much the same as Gold except each guest gets two specialty dishes each. Environment: Low/mid light ambience. Not too loud if you get one of the private rooms, you can easily converse with your table. This location is HUGE compared to the same restaurant in Duluth. It has its own bar and an entire room dedicated to self-serve options. Food: Not much to say about this other than it is fantastic. You're eating some of the highest grade beef you can get: Wagyu. My friends and I got the Diamond tier for my birthday. My absolute favorite specialty dishes are the Wagyu Foie Gras Nigiri and Wagyu Uni Caviar Nigiri Raw. The dressing that they use perfectly complements the natural flavor of the beef and the toppings. While the specialty nigiri and hand rolls are a single serving, the other specialty meats/dishes can be shared if you have a decent size party (4 or more). The other AYCE options are included with all tiers. This includes sushi, seafood, dim sum(not available the last time I went to the Duluth location), rice dishes, and various soups. - My favorite of which are the salmon carpaccio(maybe nigiri at the end of the meal because of the rice), A5 Wagyu tartare, and Creamy Spicy Tom Yum Soup. Service: The service was fantastic. Our server, Gary, was very transparent about how to get the best value out of our money. The overall staff went above and beyond what we usually expect. We ordered a pitcher of beer and they poured all of us glasses and made sure each of the six of us had a full glass. Gary was very helpful whenever we had questions/confusion about the menu or our orders. He really made it feel like he was there for his customers rather than just for a paycheck. Bottom line: This location was a much better experience than the Duluth location. It's bigger, has more options at the self serve room, includes a full bar for you to sit at while you're waiting for your party to arrive. The service was great. The only two complaints that I had were about how long it would take some orders to come out (This I can understand more because of how busy I can imagine the staff is), and the meat sticking to the grill. They didn't have any oil to spray on the grill because the wagyu fat is supposed to take care of it, but it did cause issues cooking the thinner meats, especially the mushroom/pineapple wrapped brisket and the plain wagyu brisket itself. All that being said, I would highly recommend this restaurant AND the $20 annual membership. I visit this restaurant maybe 3-4 times a year.
