You can tell when a kitchen knows what they're doing vs just throwing stuff together. Wagyu steak was the standout. Cooked perfect, super tender, flavor on point. Didn't try to overdo it, just high quality and executed right. Service was smooth too. No waiting around, no weird energy, just handled. Overall clean spot, solid food, no complaints. Feeling like sushi today. I caught them at Happy Hour menu. I haven't been to O-Ku in a very long time. I love this spot. It's elegant but yet a relax chill vibe. The food is amazing. Today I sat at the bar and decided on getting the Sake To Me Baby and the Unagi San (Makimono). My favorite dish was the Unagi San it was just a burst of flavors. Came here solo on a Saturday night for the anniversary Osusume. Every item was delicious! I kept being surprised by how each course was so different yet all were craveable. My favorites were the bun and the akami crudo and the bao bun. I wouldn't order the O-Kurr roll again bc it's just got too much going on, but was fun to try it. The dessert is when things went south. The Ube brownie was awful. It's gluten free and was not sweet. Once the condensed milk syrup was gone, I couldn't eat it. Maybe it's better with ice cream the way they serve it on the regular menu. I was really disappointed bc I think this was the first time I've ever not liked something made with Ube. My waitress was super energetic and lovely. The restaurant itself is kinda dark and romantic. Please make a reservation so you know you will have a seat. Come for Happy Hour Monday through Thursday from 5 PM to 6:30 PM. If you do get these two delectable rolls. The TUNA CRUNCH is spicy tuna, cucumber, crab, crispy leeks, spicy aioli, and eel sauce, which is $12. Also, get the MT.FUJI with crab-topped, tempura shrimp, avocado, crunchy onion finish, and eel sauce, which is $10. I love a rainbow roll, and theirs is one of the best. It costs $17 and includes yellowtail, salmon, tuna, shrimp, avocado, shiso leaf, crunchy crab, and cucumber. We also had crispy rice, which cost $21. I didn't realize the variety of food on this menu. They have a lot more than just sushi, and so much more that we wanted to try. We definitely have to come back. read more

I have been searching for a sushi spot in ATL and this one is a gem! I visited for happy hour on a Wednesday night and we were one of the first ones in the restaurant. The aesthetics of the restaurant were beautiful, intimate and grown/sexy. Our server Dylan was absolutely phenomenal! He was training a new server and I just know she is going to learn a ton. Dylan provided incredible descriptions of the menu items and drinks. He had me wanting to try one of everything. Haha! We opted for the happy hour menu and had the edamame with truffle salt and Mt Fuji roll. My friend also loved her miso soup. The Mt. Fuji roll was good but a little on the softer side than what I am used to however it was fresh. I had two Raichitinis the flavors was creamy and fruity. It took a moment to come out but it was such a delicate & delicious drink the bartender definitely took his time. Apparently it's their spin on a lychee martini and I thoroughly approve. I appreciate the manager checking in on our table. I am extremely impressed with the establishment and can't wait to return. I am interested in seeing how O-Ku operates on a busy night. Amazing quality sushi with so much freshness packed in every bite! We didn't have reservations on a Saturday night, but we're so kind to seat us at the sushi bar to be in all the action! The dark ambiance screams romantic date night. The Marbled Forest (sushi without the seaweed) was a refreshing twist on sushi with dill and basil topped for all the freshness. I love the Follow the Yellow Brick Roll 2.0 it is seriously one of the best rolls I've ever had. It's so fresh and unique with the lemon slice on top. Seriously amazing. The Mt Fuji is also very good as well. The crispy rice was good, it was a little sticky but still pretty tasty. My absolute favorite dishes were the Salmon Usuzukuri and the Otoro Spoons -- both were next-level delicious and left a lasting impression. A special thank you to my wonderful waitress, Ling, who made the entire experience even better. She was attentive, kind, and incredibly thoughtful. The staff even went above and beyond by printing out a personalized menu for my daughter that said "Happy 17th Birthday" -- such a special touch that meant so much. So this is a really good sushi spot in the interlock. It has a lot of space and room. It also has a upstairs as well, but we will get to that later. So this spot is not a spot you will go to watch a game at because there really no TVs like that around the inside of the. This is the spot that you could probably consider a little more dark and intimate. It's not strictly a date time vibe but That's the vibe that it gives off. Rock shrimp tempura - The shrimp were basically tossed at fried shrimp. They were really good though. It only came in a small bowl but it was happy hour when I had them so it wasn't going to be a full order ISO. But they were still really good. Regardless. They had a lot of savory and tanginess to them. Mt. Fuji - This one was really good. It came in a good amount, considering it was only $10 for half hour. They weren't super big but they were very flavorful. And very well put together. Smashed potatoes - Now this was basically like reds and potatoes that were smashed and fried. Or seared maybe. It comes with a sauce. It's kind of like a mayo on it. They were good and they came with plenty. California roll - The California roll was pretty good. It was a standard role, nothing leaped out about it but it was pretty good. Shrimp tempura roll - The shrimp and pour roll was also pretty basic, very good, nothing out of the box though. I won't say that this is a really really good happy hour. You get a lot of bang for your buck. For $40. You can come off, clean and be full. You can order the happy hour downstairs in the restaurant itself or you can actually get some views while you order the happy hour upstairs and get a Eiffel of the building surrounding Howell Mill. Wow. This isn't my first time at O-Ku but this was hands down my favorite dining experience here. I have to start with our server Elena. Hopefully I spelled her name right. She delivered some of the finest service I've experienced in a long it. She was personable while not being overbearing, she got things before we needed to ask, displayed knowledge of the menu and started the mean off ensuring there weren't any allergies. She was able to tell my date and I were still in the early stages of dating and sent out a small gift for us. That attention to detail was phenomenal. For a slower Wednesday night I wasn't expecting top tier service. Elena not only delivered, but exceeded any expectations I had. I'll happily request her when I come back. The food was amazing. Not cheap, but when you can taste the quality of the products, the price doesn't matter. The Marbled Forrest was very good, but the Hamachi Toro was perfection. Buttery, rich, flavorful. I could've had 10 orders lol. Again it was a quiet nice so there weren't tables on top of each other which was nice. Music played in the background but wasn't so loud that I couldn't hear my date. Today my table ordered the Black Magic, Follow the Yellow Brick Roll, and the Soft-Shell Spider Roll. All three had very different tastes but I would order all 3 again for sure. Our server was attentive, she was bouncing between tables and being the bartender but she managed to check in on us often and make sure we had everything we needed. I recommend the crispy rice as an app, and the O-Kurrr, or the Mt. Fuji roll. The drinks are great, and the ambience matches. Service is always friendly here. The rooftop is a beautiful and casual vibe where you can just stop for a bite with friends and the inside lends more for an intimate date night experience. This review is for their catering only. O-Ku provided the sushi for Sumo and Sushi event in ATL. I went last night. It was about what I expected. The VIP Skysuites had basically AYCE sushi for the event. I didn't take pictures of the "buffet." It is difficult to cater events but some things were just very poor planning... consistently running out of plates and food. The quality was as expected but the real reason for this review is...bones. Never ever have I had several bones from sushi. And I have, on many occasions, eaten gas station/convenience store/vending machine sushi. I would never even have commented on this food if not for the bones. Who was the dishwasher who prepped this fish? Not sure what to think of a sushi restaurant that would serve this. Update- thank you Chrissy, the manager, who commented and reached out. I appreciate the offer to contact you for a different experience and I will make it to dine in at some time to be fair. The offer to contact you is very kind and gracious, however I have to decline. I only wanted to write about my honest experiences dining. I have absolutely no doubt that if I contacted you, I would have the most lovely time...but that experience would be skewed in my opinion. I can understand why they have so many regulars. The food was delicious and the inside looks amazing. Well decorated and with relaxed lighting. Out of everything the dish to beat was the crispy rice appetizer. The Chicken teriyaki and salmon caviar nigiri come in as a close second. Parking was tight and if the spots fill up valet parking is around $5. Not to bad. Parking at the interlock across the street is 15 for 2 hours so it's a good deal. I will definitely be back again. If you like heat ask for their house made hot sauce. If you like drinks Fabricio the bartender can make what you need. Next time I'll come in warmer weather to enjoy the rooftop seating. read more

O-Ku was recently featured on Atlanta eats for its Nigiri and braised short ribs. This is a chain restaurant originating in Charleston boasting a reputation for amazing sushi. I ordered two rolls the Sunset and Black Magic. With a heavy price tag of 33 dollars, the black magic was the star of the show. The Sunset was more traditional with the raw salmon and blend inside the roll. We opted for the rooftop - nice spot with views of the interlock and surrounding restaurants. It was pretty chill with very attentive wait staff. The bill was pretty hefty for two dining - about 200. I think I can achieve the same experience during happy hour. But definitely a repeat restaurant. read more

This is hands down one of my favorite places to go for sushi and yap. They have 1/2 off bottles of wine on Sundays and the best crispy rice in town. Good vibes, yummy food. We sat at the "bar" bar, a good relatively quiet place to talk (at least the night we were there.) They did have a sushi bar, but I don't think anyone was sitting there. But we had excellent service, quick yummy drinks, and sushi rolls came out pretty quick and the fish was super fresh and yummy. Came here for Mother's Day and my kids are still talking about it weeks later. The service there and the ambience was just perfect. I was surprised that there were multiple tables with younger kids and that it was so kid friendly without being obnoxious or loud. We ordered a bunch of food that was all delicious. I highly recommend everything we ordered: Rock shrimp tempura Crispy rice Soft shell spider Baja California They also were really accommodating in making modifications to make certain options more kid friendly. My 5 yr old is still talking about the salmon filet. Only downside, the valet is horrible. Very awkward and terribly managed. This is a common issue for west side restaurants but it doesn't take away from how great the experience was. I will definitely be returning! read more
