The reviews here were spot on, this place was great! It's a small restaurant on a busy road, with a small parking lot, and the food was wonderful. I went for a Saturday lunch, got sat at the bar quickly, and was impressed by the quick service. Green tea was great and complimentary, and I didn't expect soup and salad but it suddenly appeared. I ordered a chirashi don and it was beautiful and delicious!

My first time back since 2019 and my friends who came with me were impressed and loved it! I'm so glad I called ahead to make a reservation (13 of us) since they were packed on Saturday night. They called around 1 1/2 hrs before our reservation time to confirm we were still coming. FYI-I was told they will take reservations for parties of 6+ only and service charge of 18% is automatically added to the bill. We had our own private seating, which was nice. It was a packed house and it did take awhile for the servers to get our order. Once our order was in, it didn't take very long to get all of our food. I ordered a seaweed salad, spicy tuna roll (I ordered the spicy tuna hand roll but the server must have not heard me, but I didn't care that I got the roll instead) and spicy crunch roll. I was so stuffed and didn't finish everything by the end of the meal. It was very heavy since it was a lot of rice but the fish and veggies in the rolls were fresh! I will definitely be coming back here since their menu doesn't just have sushi - they have noodles, rice meals, you name it, they have it. They also have 20% off on specialty rolls on Saturday!

My wife and I spot for sushi in Atlanta. Fresh thick cuts of sashimi and great lunch specials including the bento box for $20. Green tea is free too unlike a lot of other sushi restaurants. Give this place a try and you will not be disappointed.

Sashimi and karaage lunch combo
Amanda C.

Was looking forward to trying this spot based on the reviews but found the sushi to be ok and catered towards American style sushi. We ordered takeout and they seemed busy on a Friday lunch but food still came out at a reasonable time. We ordered 3 rolls: baked salmon, samurai, and salmon lovers. Lots of sauce all over the first too rolls so we preferred the last one which was not drowning in sauce lol. For the lunch combo we chose sashimi and karaage. The sashimi was fine but karaage a bit dry and not shaped like other karaage we have had. For the price we have another sushi spot we prefer to go to instead so likely won't return, but if you love sauce-y rolls this place is probably for you.

Great sushi place! The service was amazing. They were attentive, even making recommendations. The food came out quickly and was very good! The ambience was chill and welcoming. Def give it a try!

Georgia bulldog roll

I've been here a few times now and it always fills the craving, but is never amazing. I got the veggie tempura, bbq eel hand roll, and the Georgia bulldog roll. I almost always get the veggie tempura. I would def get the hand roll again and would not get the ga Bulldog roll again. I'm sure I'll be back in the next few months. It's usually my place to go when I can't decide and I don't want to go far. The staff is always friendly. If you go by yourself, they'll make you sit at the bar.

My latest to go order!

This is my go to for sushi when I'm not trying to pay a crazy amount because of ambiance. They have some of the best rolls in the city. They are filling and creative! I usually go for lunch solo, but one night I ordered to go and was still very pleased with the quality and amount. I also tried the pork belly skewers which remind me of the ones I had in Japan!

Salmon Lover's Roll & Georgia Bulldog Roll

I love this spot! Service is always great and their 20% specials rolls deal makes it even better. My go-to is the Georgia Bulldog roll! This cute restaurant is tucked alongside Buford Highway and can sometimes be easy to miss when it's dark, but they're next to Shakin' Crawfish and have a decently sized parking lot; parking is rarely an issue here.

Nigiri, Negihama and spicy tuna hand roll, sunset roll

We love eating at Yokohama! The sushi is excellent, you can stick to very traditional or try some of the rolls plus the service is always very friendly. The lunch bento is excellent value as well as the combination lunch (my favorite is the agedashi tofu with sashimi combo served with miso soup rice and salad). Pic from a recent dinner.

Iekei ramen.
Andrea M.

Certain items were okay while other choices were better. The ramen we chose (iekei ramen) was so so. We figured since the original recipe came from Yokohama, Japan that it would be interesting to try. It's a mixture of tonkotsu and shoyu soup which turned out to be a tad salty imo. It overall wasn't bad nor good. Just so so. White tiger roll: This spicy tuna and eel roll was pretty tasty. There definitely was a slight kick in spice. Overall a pleasant roll that's not too crazy in ingredients nor taste. On the bayou roll: This was really different and tasty. The deep fried crayfish was definitely interesting. The little crayfish provided a nice crunch in texture with the spicy tuna. Although this roll appears to be crazy, it was a rather mellow. You pretty much taste the crayfish in all its dough glory. I would definitely come to Yokohama sushi again and try their abundant menu. There was a great deal of people around dinner time on a Friday evening so popularity at this place wasn't lacking by any means.

E X P E R I E N C E we came on a mon around 1pm. there were 4 other tables of 2-4. we were immediately greeted and sat. the restaurant was about 10% full. the restaurant is small- about 12-14 tables of four. there's also an 8 person bar seater. S E R V I C E the lady took our order quickly and brought out food promptly. interactions were brief and polite. F O O D rainbow roll and 5 pc nigiri lunch daily special $19.99: comes w miso soup and salad! the miso soup is tasty and so is the salad. the salad is lightly sauced. the fish is decently fresh and cut thick. unagi super crunchy roll $16: so tasty. nicely fried. the worlds thinnest piece of unagi though hahaha the rolls are super meaty. there's a lot of filling in the roll. B A T H R O O M Women's is clean. just dated. I love that the stalls open outward so there's more space. P A R K I N G probably about 20 spots. easy to park. good for wide turns- with trucks. P R I C E 40+18% tip ngl regular price one piece nigiri for $5 is extremely expensive (although cut thick and is decently fresh) and definitely not worth it. there's better places in buford that aren't this expensive. the lunch special makes this more worthwhile for sure. I'd come back during lunch

Shrimp Shumai

So I found this place randomly while searching on the area map. It wasn't super far from where I was at so I gave it a shot. I walked in and I was not upset at the vibes. The service was attentive And they approach you and greet you as soon as you walk in the door. They have a nice amount of seating, you can sit at the bar top area where the sushi is served or you can sit in a seat. They actually have some things close to outdoors as well So you have a lot of options. Crunchy chicken skin - come on a salad bed and come with a sauce that is sweet and just the right amount of tangy. Jumbo shrimp shumai - really good, it was only 4 of them, but they were tasty and seemed fresh. Came with a smear of some super flavorful wasabi. Not that green kind either, this was out of pocket that made me stare at it a little bit as I began to chew (but in a good way). California tempura roll was pretty good. And the Crunchy shrimp roll was also good. They were not write home about good, but still decent. Volcano roll Now this one was something else. It was a little bit of a mess but in a good way. They really had the kitchen sink thrown on this! It was super flavorful and really tasty and had all types of things going on in my taste buds. It had a little bit of sweet little bit of tangy and a little bit of savory all at the same time. This spot was such a hit and I left full and stuff! True enough I probably ate too much lol but it's okay. But they hit all the marks!

The Teen Birthday Boy said to surprise him, and we landed at Yokohama Sushi. So glad we did. We started with some edamame and tempura shrimp & veggies. Both were fantastic! The teen ordered his fave sushi roll and tonkatsu ramen. He loved the roll and was a little critical of the ramen. The ramen has bean sprouts in it, he's not a fan. He's used to having the spice bomb being in the broth already. They provided a chili oil that we tried to create the flavor he was in search of. We made it work, The hubs ordered nigiri and was impressed with the freshness and quality. He was a big fan of the ramen in spite of the spice situation. Our server was wonderful, and the restaurant is clean and well organized. Will return to try more menu items!

Any vegan noodle or soup on the menu?

Is this take out only? (During COVID)

No, they have a limited number of tables available inside with very strict protocols in place. My daughter and I had a lovely sit down lunch today.

They have multiple lunch special items!

Do they still have dinner bento boxes? :(

Yup of course our restaurant is kid-friendly!! We have lots of menus that kids will love!!

There's no option on the menu but it doesn't hurt to ask and maybe they will make it work if it's for dietary purposes !

We ordered: Exceptional (A+): Tuna Crisps Excellent/Very Good (A/A-): A5 Wagyu Sando, The Monroe Tuna (crispy rice), Burlesque Roll, Bluefin Maguro (nigiri), Seared Scallops Good (B+/B): Pork Ramen OK (B-/C+/C): Yuzu Cheesecake, Orange is the New Black (salmon) So most dishes we sampled were excellent. Their tuna crisps are to die for. But their acclaimed and award-winning pork ramen was merely decent. Before tipping, we paid $215 for a two-person meal (no alcohol, only water, 8 small dishes, and 1 dessert). If they had charged us at least 20% less, this would have been a 5-star meal.

I had the Casanova roll, the Linguinstuno roll, and the miso steak, and every single dish was flavorful and well-executed. I also tried the sea bass, and it was hands down one of the best things I tasted that night. Overall, if you're looking for a nice, upscale dining experience with great service, amazing food, and top-tier drinks, 8 Sushi is definitely the place to go.

That said, locals recommended it, and I usually love sushi as a post-flight meal since it's light and fresh. The ambiance is dreamy, and I really appreciated the attentive service and bar seating. Unfortunately, they fell a bit flat for me. I ended up adding a lot of soy sauce since they sincerely lacked flavor. When the bill came, I realized this probably wasn't the best choice for a quick, light meal. The prices were comparable to California, but the quality didn't quite match. That said, the person sitting next to me mentioned she visits often and felt that the night was a bit off, so I'd be open to giving it another try next time I'm in town.

Service? Excellent. Ambiance? Relaxed and enjoyable. Food? Oh...MAN. Wow…read more.. I came here about 8 years ago with the same family members +1 family friend and we enjoyed dinner then, but it truly didn't compare to this visit. Previously, I had Kang Nam slated as an overpriced, but decent sushi place that serves meals on a more robust scale if you're dining with a party. However, the sushi back then was somewhat underwhelming. Last night, we had a phenomenal set. Hamachi, Otoro, Unagi, Ebi, and more! Every piece was delicately balanced and beautifully arranged. Honestly, I wasn't really expecting too much going in- and I'd only chosen Kang Nam as a place where I could get some decent sushi while my family got something else entirely. My mom had Don Katsu (served with a small dish of Japanese style curry sauce). My uncle got the Tempura Udon, of which they served the tempura shrimp on the side in a bed of tempura flakes. This is kind of genius, because you can make the decision on when you want to dip in your tempura instead of them bringing it and you have to down the tempura fast in order to still have it be crunchy... NOT HERE! It stays crunchy since they serve it separately. Love that. We had refillable banchan: kimchi, king oyster mushrooms, and glass noodles- all of which were delicious. We all received bowls of deliciously simple miso soup and we ordered a set of fried dumplings. Everything was great! That is...until the sushi came out. Wow. Presentation: 10/10. Flavor? 10/10. Portion-size: TEN OUT OF TEN, Y'ALL. The sushi rice was fantastic and they didn't use too much like a lot of places do with their nigiri. The toppings were functionally decorative. The sweet shrimp was especially pretty with two different colors of roe on top. The yellowtail didn't need the toppings it had- green onion and fish/squid flakes(?)- in my opinion, but they added a dimension of texture to the initial bite and a hint of flavor to the finish. The fish was perfect in every way: not too thick, no too thin, overlapping the rice by double to allow for perfect soy sauce dips without soaking the rice, and I just CAN NOT EXPLAIN how good each piece was... The sushi rolls were so delicious and every bite had wonderful textures and flavors, but my absolute favorite roll was the one with the smoked tuna on top- WOW! Absolutely stunned. Never - EVER - have I actually tasted the smoke flavor so clearly and completely. I am a HUGE fan of that one and I can't even remember the name of it...it's in the picture on the plate behind the sweet shrimp. The eel nigiri was also a highlight for me- as it's one of my favorite pieces of sushi, I always order several pieces. I was happily surprised to see they were nearly twice the size I get at other restaurants. Hands-down, the best otoro (fatty tuna) I've had in Atlanta. The sushi chef here also believes in giving special service by preparing some extra pieces for the customers as well. I only ordered one set of otoro, but next time....oh my...my bill is gonna hurt next time. Each 2-piece set of otoro is set at $17, so...yeah... It's going to be SO WORTH IT though. I will 10000% be back- soon. I might just get some Otoro, Hamachi, and one of those smoked tuna rolls...man. SO. RIDICULOUSLY. GOOD. Get in there if you haven't been in a while. Trust me!
