A wonderful West Midtown option for sushi! We came here on a Sunday night around 9:15pm with no reservation. Thankfully, they kindly accepted our party of 3 and immediately sat us down. The restaurant was occupied but not full. Our server, Isaac, was welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. He gave me great recs from the menu. I got the Purple Rain with the Langoustine and Hokkaido rolls. All was delicious and served quite quickly with no skimping on quality. We were all pleased with what we ordered. The service was efficient but not rushed. Eight was the perfect spot with a moody vibe for our chill girls night out. Had a reservation on a Saturday night for 5:00, was immediately sat, however with no menus. There is QR code on the table that takes you to a menu with pictures, however I find this to be out of place in restaurants of this caliber. Also we were not directed to scan the QR code. It took about 5 minutes for a server to greet us. At this point I was able to ask for a physical menu. Nothing was explained about the menu or the drinks, this would have added to the overall experience. As for food, we ordered the Red Samurai Roll. This was my favorite out of everything we ordered. Very refreshing but thought the tomato was unnecessary. The spicy tuna and fresh tuna complemented each other nicely and the ponzu sauce added the right amount of sweetness that was not too powerful. Very flavorful. We ordered two other rolls, the hashtags roll and the shinobi roll. Both were more on the savory side compared to the Red Samurai roll. Personally not my favorite as the sauce on the hashtags rolls was too powerful, covering up the taste of the actual sushi and the Shinobi roll tasted strange with the seared filet mignon on top. I personally did not think this complimented each other well but this could be up to personal preference! After 3 rolls between 2 people, we still didn't really feel full so ordered the Kampachi Serrano, which was lacking a lot of flavor and the frozen ponzu sauce did not add anything to the dish. The picture online looks better than the actual dish. Lastly, we ordered the Salmon toro nigiri, salmon belly. The ambiance was very nice, low lighting, good date night spot. Twice they delivered the wrong dish to our table. I would try other sushi places in Atlanta before coming back here. For the prices, the service was not up to standard with explanations and speed. Also no refills on Diet Coke and the only options for parking are a $6 valet or self parking which is also $6. They do not validate. One of my closest friends lives in Atlanta and although I don't make it out often, we always make it a point to visit Eight Sushi. It is a little pricey but you get what you pay for. The sashimi & nigiri melt in your mouth and the complex flavor combinations are unlike anything I've ever had before. The Casanova Roll is spicy, sweet, creamy, crunchy... opposing flavors and yet the perfect balance dancing across your taste buds. We had the eight piece Rice To Meet You nigiri and they were all so delicious. We ended with the Walu and we were beside ourselves. The light white fish melted in our mouths and it was enhanced and complimented with a smokey essence, a touch of eel sauce and dehydrated garlic. The sushi here was spectacular because each roll practically melted in my mouth. To start the night, I ordered the Ruby Crudo as an appetizer, and all I can say is that it was such a unique combination. I wasn't sure how all the flavors would come together, but everything surprisingly worked so well. Next, I ordered the Langoustine Roll with pressed rice. At first, I didn't think I was going to like it, but it ended up being sooo flavorful and incredibly easy to eat. If you have a smaller mouth like me, you don't have to worry about making a mess because the sushi was so soft and practically melted with every bite. Of course, I had to order their Casanova Roll since it's what they're best known for, and it definitely did not disappoint! It was on the sweeter side with plenty of sauce, which was perfect for my palate. Now onto the Miso Steak. I ordered it medium, but some bites toward the end were more well done. I've frequented this place countless times. Recently, my niece decided she would like to have a pre-birthday sushi dinner here. I made 2 reservations, one for 4 ppl and one for 3 ppl. Upon arrival, I was scolded, reprimanded, and chastised three times for not being able to book a party of four or more in the future, to the point that I had to ask why the hostess needed to repeat the same message, as she was understood the first time. The reservation for 3 was never found, nor was one extended, although there clearly was available seating. There is also an automatic gratuity that is not mentioned for parties of 5. The speakeasy bar was nice; the drink was okay. Food was okay, so I heard; I didn't eat because the ramen was sold out per usual (make enough or take it off the menu already). read more

I keep going back and forth between a 3 and a 4 for this restaurant, a 3.5 option here would be ideal. While the food was overall a big hit, I am completely disgusted with the bathrooms here. I am assuming there are many patrons that come whose stomachs cannot handle raw fish, and there's just simply not enough time to clean the stalls. Additionally, I am not sure if my friends and I showed up on a day that it was severely understaffed, but the pacing of the meal was completely off. While our waiter was super nice and attentive, our food showed up way out of sync. I finished both of the rolls I ordered before anyone else's food even showed up. In before anyone says I could have waited for everyone else's food, I am not going to have raw sushi sitting out baking under the little outdoor heater for 20-30 minutes. On top of that everyone was completely finished with their plates and had to ask about our friend's last roll that hadn't come yet. And when she said, if it's not ready, we can just cancel the order and move on to dessert, the Manhattan roll materialized almost immediately, as if it had been ready for some time and was just waiting to be brought to the table. In terms of the food, everything was really good except the King Roll. We ordered it expecting it to be some type of spider roll, and it just did not have the signature crunch we were looking for. My friends and I were excited to try this place! We came in the middle of the week for dinner so we hoped for the best in terms of not making reservations. I had trouble finding the place so my friends were waiting for me before they could seat the whole party. In the meantime, they enjoyed the full bar and had a few gin cocktails. Came to Eight Sushi to have a work dinner with some colleagues. We made a reservation for 6PM on a Wednesday and they were super flexible with our group arriving at different times which was great. I thought the restaurant was the perfect to volume to maintain conversation. I ordered the mocktail version of their lychee martini and it was a good! To eat, we only ordered a bunch of different food. Our group loved the tuna crisp but for me it was too truffle forward. It's got a nice ambience - inside is dimly lit with stylish tables (perfect for date night) and outside are a few tables to enjoy the breeze (or the heat if it's cold out). So if you're in the Howell Mill area and one of some sushi, this will be a pretty decent spot to try out. It's on the corner if you go around the block, so it's not like on the front facing part of the street, but it's there! There's street parking there, or you have to find your own for the most part. I chose to sit at the bar, and it worked out okay on my side. Bartender is really cool and getting me some good customer service. Has some nice conversation as well! Gyoza - they were good and pan fried to perfection. They were not overly big but had a good flavor. Vegetable spring rolls - they came out mad hot and fresh and had a great fried crunch. The sweet and sour sauce it came with took it to another level as far as sweet and savory goes. Shinobi roll - the roll came out with a really good presentation. Came out with 8 rolls and they had a great flavor. Casanova roll - a really great balance of sweet and spicy. The peppers on top were an extra (good) pop to the savory flavor. Good spicy and would for sure order again. Part of me felt like for the prices that they're charging. They kind of could give bigger portions, but I feel like that's probably by design because they want you to keep ordering. But if nothing else at least the taste was good, so I have to take that into consideration! Overall I would probably go back again. I had heard from a friend that Eight Sushi Lounge was an excellent spot for sushi, so I was very interested to try it. The restaurant has a nice ambiance inside that feels more suited for something intimate (smaller lights so it is less bright indoors) while their outdoor seating is more lively (as typical as one can get with sitting outside). The servers were friendly and the food came out in a fairly timely manner. We got the Velvet Roll, Shinobi Roll, Blue Fin Otoro, King Crab Sando, Sake Nigiri, Summer Affair, and Eight's Lychee Martini. Both the Summer Affair and Eight's Lychee Martini were fruity and refreshing drinks, not too strong (for me). The King Crab Sando was a good appetizer, albeit rather tiny as it came in two small pieces. The bread had a good crunch that paired well with the toppings. I felt okay about the Velvet Roll and Shinobi Roll. They both felt like they were doing too much in terms of the fillings and toppings and I was not too big of a fan. If I had to pick, I would say the Shinobi Roll was better than the Velvet Roll for me (although both are different). My boyfriend enjoyed the Blue Fin Otoro and Sake Nigiri, but he did note that the Sake Nigiri seemed off... unsure if that was in a positive or negative manner. Overall, I think this is a fine place for sushi. A lot of people enjoy the food here. Everyone has different taste buds so it really is about perspective. We were a party of 3, and since they do not sit incomplete parties we ordered drinks at the bar until our friend got there. With that said, we started with the "purple rain" which consisted of_____. For our appetizers we ordered the Monroe tuna, Madai carpaccio, and the langoustine roll. The Madai carpaccio was unique and truly exquisite, it consisted of thinly shaved Japanese snapper, truffle oil, and you have the option to add Caviar on top (and we did, was a nice touch) For our entrees, we ordered the hashtag roll, the explosion roll, and the Casanova roll. Now while those were all AMAZING, the Casanova roll stood out the most...I mean WOW, the seared scallops were the cherry on top (see pics). There is no doubt that I will return here soon, this was a well-rounded experience for sure, also I heard they have a speakeasy too so I will be checking that out as well. My husband and I visited Eight Sushi on Valentine's Day. There is a parking deck right next to the restaurant. Since we were running late and getting close to our reservation time, we opted to valet our car. The valet is really easy. You can either pay online or pay with cash. There is a fee if you decide to pay online which is why we went with cash. The restaurant is very busy, and since it is so popular, you are seated pretty closely together with everyone else. There is a heated outdoor patio, but we chose to sit inside since it was so cold. For an appetizer, we got the eggs Benedict. The egg is a quail egg, and while I thought it was good, I personally wouldn't get it again. My husband loved it though and would. For our rolls, we got the langoustine roll, the shinobi roll, and the explosion roll. Personally, our least favorite was the shinobi. With how good the fish is at Eight restaurant, we felt like the filet mignon on top of the shinobi just wasn't as good as everything else. We wish we went with the Casanova roll which we were debating on getting over the Shinobi since they were pretty similar but Casanova had scallops as the topping instead. The langoustine roll was good, but the crunch was probably the strongest part of the roll. My husband didn't really like it, and while I did enjoy it, I probably wouldn't get it again because I would want to try something else. Our favorite roll was the Explosion Roll. The sauce on top was great, and the blend of everything was delicious. Just thinking about it right now has my mouth watering. I also loveddddd their salmon belly nigiri. My absolute, favorite sushi spot in ATL. The atmosphere, the service, the food - all top tier. The items you MUST TRY are TUNA CRISP, MADAI CARPACCIO, LANGOUSTINE, ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, KAMPACHI SERRANO, "THE MONROE" TUNA, and the PORK "AWARD WINNING RAMEN". Heads up that the ramen runs out very quickly and they only have a limited quantity so order accordingly. All of the nigiri and sashimi pieces that I've ordered are so fresh. The drinks are also very good here - lychee martini, sub with Don Julio Reposado is my go-to. I cannot recommend this place enough. I love it, I love it, I love it! read more

Ok new go to spot for sushi. I came here for the first time to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We had reservations and were seated right away. The inside was very cozy. Our server was amazing!! He recommended a great wine (the grape one). Gyoza was too good. I loved their homemade dipping sauce. I ordered the sushi with the filet on top. Omg so good. For dessert we had a brownie and ice cream. Very delicious. I can't wait to go back! read more

My first time trying this place, although I had heard so much about them. It's best to make a reservation so that you're seated right away, this place was so busy but the service was still so attentive. They have service quality down packed. Now the food: Everything was so good and fresh! The tuna crisp was perfect, the eggs benedict i THOUGHT would be kinda weird but the flavors melted together so well! Came here with reservations for my birthday! We ordered the orange is the new black, tuna crisp, shrimp saku saku, island breeze roll, hashtag roll, kings roll, red samurai roll, shinobi roll, burlesque roll, and salmon teriyaki. Really enjoyed the orange is the new black! It was so fresh and had a hint of something sour which tasted so refreshing. My favorite rolls of the night was definitely hashtag roll and kings roll. I would say all the rolls are packed with flavor and there wasn't a bad bite. The tuna crispy had a very strong truffle oil flavor which was pretty good. I also really enjoyed the crispy rice that came with the salmon teriyaki. The ambiance was very nice and this is a very dark restaurant which really sets the mood. We went to Eight Sushi with a large group and they took excellent care of us. Our server even spent time talking with us about her favorite things to do in Japan after overhearing one couple mention that they were planning a trip. Besides great service, the food was incredibly delicious. I tried the Monroe, the Eggs Benedict, Orange is the New Black, shrimp Saku Saku, the Dynasty roll, the Burlesque roll, and the eel sashimi. Everything was tasty, but the Eggs Benedict, Orange is the New Black, and the Dynasty roll were particularly good. Friends ordered the Casanova roll, which is definitely on my list to try next time. This is not a cheap night out, but I feel like we got our money's worth and had a really fun time. We'll be back! read more
