They offer a membership with different tiers (free, about $28/year, and another higher one I don't recall the cost), but the perks are solid--birthday meals, discounts for you and your guests, and on this visit, they even hooked us up with a free premium cut of meat. The environment is comfortable and lively without feeling chaotic, and the servers? Absolute pros. They'll even step in and help cook the wagyu so you don't accidentally turn a masterpiece into charcoal. Now let's talk food. The quality of the meat is legit great cuts, fresh, and the portions are perfect. You get enough to enjoy a variety without hitting that "I can't breathe" level of full. The setup is basically a buffet-style dream: grab your drinks, rice, veggies, and load up on meats like you're preparing to hibernate for the winter. I visited Chubby Cattle and let me start by saying... I usually dread buffets, but Chubby Cattle might have changed my mind a little. Everything was fresh, and I loved that the food was cooked right in front of us. That made a huge difference for me. It did not feel like your typical buffet at all. It felt more interactive and elevated. The options were endless! They had everything. Dumplings, fried rice, sushi, steak, shrimp, ice cream, slushies, like it just kept going. What really threw me off about this place was that we were expecting the chubby cattle experience we had in Duluth and this was an entirely different restaurant. I feel like that should be noted somewhere on the website. The food and options were wonderful, but I'm not sure I like how the raw meat is just sitting out there for everyone to grab on their own. I much prefer the experience of having raw meat delivered to my table. The floor was also really slippery when we went which made me concerned I would slip while holding a bunch of meat up stairs. The buffet variety was nice - almost made me want to eat buffet stuff and less Korean bbq stuff. I think the hardest part is if you go with a large party and everyone grabs meat "for the table" and then you just end up eating way too much. Less of a problem when you order at the table since you are all together. Cute place and great location next to the mall. They offer a membership: $20 annual fee which gives you a discount for you and one guest for each visit, and $59.99 off your dinner the day before, of, or after your birthday. I have to give the same tip that I give for all AYCE restaurants: MINIMIZE CARB CONSUMPTION. Rice is very cheap, but filling. You are paying a high price for quality meat, take advantage of the expensive options. I'll nibble on a couple grains of rice with each bite of meat so I don't fill up too quick. Environment: Low/mid light ambience. Not too loud if you get one of the private rooms, you can easily converse with your table. This location is HUGE compared to the same restaurant in Duluth. It has its own bar and an entire room dedicated to self-serve options. Food: Not much to say about this other than it is fantastic. You're eating some of the highest grade beef you can get: Wagyu. My friends and I got the Diamond tier for my birthday. My absolute favorite specialty dishes are the Wagyu Foie Gras Nigiri and Wagyu Uni Caviar Nigiri Raw. The dressing that they use perfectly complements the natural flavor of the beef and the toppings. While the specialty nigiri and hand rolls are a single serving, the other specialty meats/dishes can be shared if you have a decent size party (4 or more). The other AYCE options are included with all tiers. This includes sushi, seafood, dim sum(not available the last time I went to the Duluth location), rice dishes, and various soups. - My favorite of which are the salmon carpaccio(maybe nigiri at the end of the meal because of the rice), A5 Wagyu tartare, and Creamy Spicy Tom Yum Soup. Service: The service was fantastic. Our server, Gary, was very transparent about how to get the best value out of our money. The overall staff went above and beyond what we usually expect. We ordered a pitcher of beer and they poured all of us glasses and made sure each of the six of us had a full glass. Gary was very helpful whenever we had questions/confusion about the menu or our orders. He really made it feel like he was there for his customers rather than just for a paycheck. Bottom line: This location was a much better experience than the Duluth location. It's bigger, has more options at the self serve room, includes a full bar for you to sit at while you're waiting for your party to arrive. The service was great. The only two complaints that I had were about how long it would take some orders to come out (This I can understand more because of how busy I can imagine the staff is), and the meat sticking to the grill. They didn't have any oil to spray on the grill because the wagyu fat is supposed to take care of it, but it did cause issues cooking the thinner meats, especially the mushroom/pineapple wrapped brisket and the plain wagyu brisket itself. All that being said, I would highly recommend this restaurant AND the $20 annual membership. I visit this restaurant maybe 3-4 times a year. Exceptional service and food. I actually like this concept better than the Duluth Chubby Cattle BBQ location. You grab your own food vs ordering every 10min on an iPad. This way you eat at your own pace. 70min to get all your food, and 90min limit to dine-in. Our server was super awesome, and let us stay over bc we were still eating. Ricky is the man! He's in air traffic control school, so go support him! We got everything we asked for (even butter for the crab legs). Can't remember the last time I got such good service. For the food, focus on the sushi, crab legs, and waygu to get the most bang for the buck! Only other request I have are plastic cups vs paper cups (cups ppl can take home-free advertisement). First time trying this sort of cooking. Not my favorite but a good experience. Went on a Sunday and seems like the server was rushing us out (maybe shift end?). Restaurant was not busy. We were hoping to have more guidance as it was our first buy we had to guess how to cook it. Server did explain the pricing and soups. Told us the kids were to be charged half price but when ticket came, one of them was charged at full price. In conclusion, it was not a good or bad experience. On the expensive side. Tip was included but I think it needs to be looked at. I guess I missed the part of "fine dining". During my serving days, tip was at most 15%. Anything else more than that is exaggerated. Then they hand you the card machine also asks for tip. So be careful and make sure the tip is not added before double tipping. read more

We got seated upstairs and had to walk downstairs and to the far left of the restaurant to get access to all of the sides and non-ipad items. So this is my update of my experience at Chubby Cattle a month later. The experience was great and the food was delicious. We bought the membership because my birthday is in February and I'd like to come back to celebrate it. But then I noticed on my Chubby app that I have zero points, that let me mind you, I was told once our dinner was paid for in a couple weeks the points would show up. I did my part and waited... and waited. I contacted customer service about this, and they told me I needed my receipt! What?! After a month? Why would I have kept it since I did what I was told to do on my end. Once I told them this... ghosted! Poor customer service! This location should be embarrassed to operate under the Chubby Cattle name. My friend and I arrived just to be told we could not be seated because their "last seating is 9:30." When I pointed out that it was not yet 9:30, the host admitted they had already started cleaning, had no servers left, and therefore would not seat anyone despite still being within their stated last seating window. Let me get this straight: * You close at 10:30 PM * Your last seating is 9:30 PM * We arrived before 9:30 PM But you refused service anyway because you decided to clean early? The explanation kept changing: "The kitchen closes at 10," "We're already cleaning," "I'm just following policy." None of it made sense, and no one could explain why a restaurant with posted hours simply ignores them. Watching someone argue with a customer while I'm literally staring at my bare wrist to confirm the time was surreal. And unfortunately, this isn't a one-off disappointment. The last time we dined here, the food quality was already slipping badly: * Meats sitting out looking brown and old * The back food line was messy and chaotic, with empty counters and stacked plates that looked more like storage than a buffet line * Items missing with no explanation * Staples like crab legs quietly removed after the "soft opening" phase, despite being part of what originally justified the price This place feels like it's coasting on the Chubby Cattle name while cutting corners everywhere, staffing, food quality, cleanliness, and honesty about operating hours. If you don't want to seat people after 9:15, change your hours. Don't gaslight customers who arrive on time and act like they're the problem. There are far better korean BBQ options in the city that actually respect their guests. This location does not, especially for more than $75 a person. Go to Wagyu House if you must.
