Great find on my first day in Atlanta! As you enter, you find a modest corner establishment. The guy at the counter was all customer service with a wicked sense of humor tossed in for good measure. I ordered the chicken schwarma plate (medium spice), with a side of falafel. The schwarma was incredibly tasty with the right amount of kick. The falafel was crispy on the outside, mushy on the inside, with a delightful taste. Will be hear a week and no doubt will be back! read more

In town for a few days for a conference, I ended up eating here for lunch nearly every day. My first visit hooked me as the staff were amazing friendly and engaging. I started with a gyro, moved on falafel, and ended with the veggie platter. The grape leaves were great and like all their offerings, a great portion for the price. More so, none of the prices will break the bank - you can get a solid meal for under $15. Enjoy! read more

Great service and amazing food. The staff is extremely sweet and welcoming. We had a great experience throughout our whole time eating. She helped us order and gave great recommendations. The food was extremely flavorful. It is located in downtown Atlanta so really convenient if you are in the city and want a quick bite. The place is clean and have many different seating options from booths, low tables and high tops. Would definitely come again when we are back in town. read more

A robot delivered our food! I needed hummus and had 2 reluctant eaters with me, but I figured who doesn't like a gyro? They said their gyros were perfectly serviceable, and my chicken shawarma was loaded with meat and very good. The hummus was fine and satisfied my craving. We came here for lunch and really enjoyed the gyros and platters. The portions were large and filling, especially the platter. The gyro meat was definitely better than the chicken and the salad was fresh. The surrounding area seemed a bit sketchy, but we did not have any problems. The food was pretty good! Lentil soup 4/5 - nice, warm, and well cooked. However, the person at the counter asked me for my spice preference and I chose the maximum. But it wasn't spicy at all. Baba Ghanouj with Pita 4/5 - it was made really well. Could have been a little more flavorful. Service & Staff 5/5! Kind, funny and responsive staff. My friends and I were looking for a quick dinner spot after spending a long day in downtown Atlanta. We were super hungry, but it was getting late. We wanted to be served fast and eat quickly before we got back to our hotel to shower and rest for the night. Then, we kinda found this place on our search. It was opened, empty and close to our hotel, so it was perfect for us. There was 2 men inside manning the whole store. There were decent amount of tables inside. They answered any questions that we had. I personally got the COMBINATION PLATTER. The 2 meats choices they had were pretty good. The white and spicy sauce that they had made it even better. I went up to ask for more sauce and they kinda gave me more. The side salad had a good amount of vegetables and a nice light dressing. They also gave pita bread on the side, but was surprised to see how thin they make theirs. It was different, but nonetheless good. The whole combo with carbs/protein/vegetables was enough to satisfy my super starving stomach. I also ordered a BAKLAVA dessert. I was kinda disappointed in their baklava. It was not your typical slice, but more like 2-3 tiny rolled baklava in one order. It personally didn't think it was worth the price despite it tasting good. It was really small and left me wanting more. Overall, I do recommend this shop for their food. Despite how I may have judged this place by the lack of reviews or lack of customers inside, the food was good. Customer service was good, but might annoy you depending on your personality. I got the vegetarian delight which is vegan. The hummus lacked salt. The falafel lacked seasoning. I also prefer my falafel crispier and the inside a bit more crumbled. The baba ganoush and tabbouleh were good. The dolma felt kind've slimy and broke apart easily. My family also didn't really enjoy their non-vegan meals. read more

Walked over here from the Aquarium and it was amazing. It was a little busy but the staff were still extremely friendly and attentive despite the chaos in the restaurant. It was also still clean and a little small so when it's packed you might have to wait for seating but it's still worth it. The food itself was delicious and well seasoned. It was extremely well priced and it was plenty of food that would leave you full. Overall highly recommend if you're in the area. read more

I was looking for good, healthy, reasonably priced food in downtown ATL for lunch and read the reviews for Baraka Shawarma. They were spot on. Reminded me of an old-school lunch spot. No frills, just solid food. I was disappointed that they no longer have wings (that were on the online menu) and didn't have the lentil soup the day I went. I ordered the Combination Shawarma Plate with beef and chicken. Delicious. I wish I would have ordered it with extra spice and sauce, but it was tasty. The basmati rice was cooked perfectly and the salad was fresh. I'll order an extra pita on my next visit. The ladies taking the orders were quick and friendly. Downtown ATL metered street parking. It wasn't an issue for me, but I can see it being hit or miss. read more

I walked in here from my downtown Atlanta hotel on a rainy Sunday afternoon. There weren't a lot of places open on the weekend surprisingly and this place was a dry reprieve. The man behind the counter who took my order was so incredibly kind. I ordered the chicken shawarma salad. They offer three levels of spice ("American" "medium" & "Indian"). I ordered the medium spice and for me, it was a touch mild--but still super good. The food was scrumptious, the portions were plenty and my food came out within 10 minutes or so being several ordered placed any of me. I liked this place. It is located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, near some old Federal/courthouse type building. It is a few blocks from Peachtree Street. I met a friend here for lunch before doing a walking tour. The shop is a straightforward, no frills sort of place. They have a small dining area with multiple booths and a couple of tables up front, and a counter at the back where you order. There is a menu board above the counter. The guy behind the counter was friendly and engaging. The food is then brought out to your table after you order. I got a gyro and fries and enjoyed them. This place is well worth a stop for a quick lunch if you are in the area. read more

That hole in the wall spot you'll come back to forever. When my boyfriend and I first started dating, he had recently visited Atlanta and kept raving about this place. Fast forward four years later and I'm bringing him along on a work trip and this place was at the top of his list. Small and unassuming, the food does all the talking. The perfect hole-in-a-wall kinda spot. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant itself has a mixture of booths and tables if you'd like to dine in. It seems like it's more of a takeout spot though. I ordered the mixed grill with a side of tabouleh and spicy sauce on the side. The food was fantastic, flavorful and filling. The tabouleh was super fresh. The perfect portion for 1 for roughly $25. My only complaint is I wish they would have given me a spoon so I could scoop all this deliciousness. read more

This restaurant is hidden away in a small shopping center. Excellent service. We asked about the different dipping sauces, and he sliced us a bite-size sample of the lamb - 1 for each of the 4 sauces before we placed our order. I had a little of all 4 with my meal. Yum! The food was delicious. Very fresh ingredients and good quality meats. I had the lamb, and my aunt had chicken kebab. For just $12.99, we also got a small salad, hummus, rice, and pita bread. In addition, I ordered a samosa and falafel - both made to order and both delicious. The portions were more than generous, so we each had leftovers for dinner. The food was SOOOOOO GOOOD, that sauce they threw on the shawarma plate was amazing, we ordered the combo medium and Indian combo plates heat. Our friend was with us often didn't like Mediterranean style food but after eating here- she was allll fooor the chicken plate she loved it. My husband, daughter and I went here and were blown away by the service and food. We ordered hummus to start and two combo meat platters. The hummus was huge and hit the spot, super creamy and delicious. With your plate or wrap you get to choose your spice level ("American" all the way to "Indian"). We went with medium and it wasn't that spicy. One of the owners went above and beyond to welcome us and gave our daughter a free peach/strawberry smoothie. The parking situation is also abysmal. They share a really small lot and the individual spots are poorly marked. For the next ten minutes or more, the bartender proceeded to make drinks for the waiters, I remember him spilling out two drinks and remaking them while my martini continued diluting in the melting Ice. Ten minutes or more later, he pours my martini into more of a champagne coup glass than a martini glass, and I waited another five minutes or more for my wife to get her drink. When I tasted the upmartini, It tasted so diluted, just bad, almost commical to me. I just laughed to myself because i've tended bar for a living and that was about the worst martini i've ever had in my life. Either Rumi is watering down his booze or the ice melted so much that there was barely a gin taste in the glass. I think their gig is rather than give you a real martini level pour they dilute you with so much melted Ice that you think you're getting a full pour martini, when, in fact, what you're getting is half gin and half melted ice. And believe ME, you are charged as though it was a real martini. The place was pretty busy, so a lot of people must not have a clue... or just like busy places. The waiter, of course, later brought me the wrong type of rice than the one i oredered..That's okay they brought me a new one right away. I was really starving at the time, but if I hadn't been, I don't think I would have eaten any of the duck. Being submerged in a kind of a sickening, putple sweet sauce it just wasn't appetizing at all. Challenge: if you're a big Rumi's fan, go ahead and please try the duck, but you have to try it like I did- lukewarm temptation. Then tell me if you remain an unconditionalRumi's fan. The food itself was good, which is why we're giving 3 stars, but the service on this particular issue left us disappointed. The whole table was surprised on how good it was. Shrimp appetizer- the best "bang bang" shrimp I've had. Shrimps are very large and has a nice fruit salsa to go with. Everyone at the table loved their entrees but I can only truly speak for the ones I tried. Seafood Curry- I will NEVER eat curry anywhere else! I LOVEEEEE THIS CURRY! All the seafood is so fresh, the curry is so flavorful that I literally slurped the rest off my plate. There was also such a variety of veggies in there that were also very fresh and firm (not soggy). For the price especially, you get sooooo much and with such a thoughtful recipe. According to our waitress, it's the only recipe that hasn't changed since the restaurant opened in 2012! Fried chicken - I didn't try the chicken itself, but I did try the Mac and cheese and greens that came with it. Let me tell you, I am very picky about Mac and cheese and this rivals the best Mac and cheese I've had in Atlanta (toast on Lenox)! The greens were also fantastic and flavorful, but a little on the sweet side if that's what your preference is. For dessert, all 4 of us shared one slice of the suspension cake and couldn't even finish it! It was ginormous (literally the size of your head). I won't even go into details- just order it! The ambiance is so intimate and unique- not feeling like an "uptight" boujie restaurant, but curated and thoughtful. I have tried many mediteran spots but this particular restaurant stole my heart! They have the most exceptional deals and they were very fast with my order. They didnt waste any time to make me feel very comfortable and right at home. The employee were very nice and they helped me decide with my order. At the end, I picked the combination plate and it was mouth watering!! The chicken and lamp combination with their house special tasted like pure heaven in my mouth. I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant and explained my vegan diet to the manager. He was very friendly and accommodating, taking the time to recommend two dishes: * Vegetarian Delight (filled with chickpeas and eggplant) * Veggie Samosa (filled with lentils) He even showed me a picture of the samosa, which I really appreciated.
