Decided to come here for a birthday dinner, especially since we haven't been to this location since they reopened after the renovation. The space has a much more open feel to it, which was nice to see. Started with the hummus, which was excellent. For entrees, had the chinjeh and the sea bass. The chinjeh tasted good, was slightly overcooked (I ordered medium) but was fine to eat. Wife really enjoyed the sea bass. The rice for both dishes were quite tasty. Our server, Jonathan, was excellent. Very attentive and always checked to see if everything was okay. Still don't understand why parking ($3) is charged separately. There are three Rumi's in Atlanta & nearby, all of them popular, and this one is where the magic originates. While I have been to to Colony Square branch for over 20 times, it was only recently that I hit this spot, during GT's Spring Break. The menu there was slightly different from that of Colony sq. In particular, I was interested in Ash reshteh, Kale borani, lubia polo, and artichoke ghormeh sabzi, none of which is common in the Middle Eastern restuarants nearby. I ended up getting the Chinjeh lubia polo. Compared to the Chinjeh entree in Colony sq branch, this one had a slice of taftoon bread, pickled veggies (cucumber and onions), different type of rice (lubia polo) and seemed to have more meat. The meat was marinated and quite tender, so even if it was slightly over "rare" which was what I preferred, I did not complain at all. The lubia polo was the real highlight. It was basically a savory rice dish cooked with finely diced beef, chopped green beans, tomato paste, and warm spices. Topped with saffron. So imagine a bite with the puffy, soft rice, the meaty beef, the juicy & sweet green beans, and an overall warm flavor. Super rich in flavor. While their menu did not list a la carte rice, they did offer these choices, so I highly recommend you to get one even if you do not want to order Chinjeh. Service was much worse compared to food. First, I waited for over 3min even if I made a reservation; I ended up sitting at the bar. Then I told the bartenders three times I was ready to check before I finally got the bill, and two times I needed a box before I finally got one. Went here for the first time on Valentine's Day this year and had a really great experience. We had a 5 PM reservation and although there was a short wait, it was completely understandable since they were very busy that evening. We were seated on the patio, which was packed but still had a warm and pleasant atmosphere. Our server Jam provided outstanding service from start to finish. He was attentive, mindful of my dietary restrictions, and always made sure we had everything we needed, whether it was water refills or placing another order. He checked in on us several times without being overwhelming and truly made our special occasion feel even more special. The food was delicious. We ordered the mushroom hummus, yogurt duo, and the vegetable kebab, and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The yogurt duo was my favorite. It was so good that we ended up ordering a second portion. The vegetable kebabs were not your typical boring vegetables. The grilled pineapple was such a pleasant surprise and added a really nice flavor that paired perfectly with the vegetables, rice, yogurt, and the sabzi they bring out at the beginning. The feta cheese tasted very fresh and light. We also got the flourless chocolate cake to go and were really impressed with how rich and flavorful it was, especially for a gluten free dessert. Here is the summary of my amazing experience at this place in the Sandy springs location. 1) Ambiance 5/5: This is a fine dining restaurant with pleasant decor and ambiance which is soothing and inviting at the same time. Absolutely loved my meal! The service was super quick which was great because we were super hungry . I split my dish and it was the perfect portion. I had the Chicken Kabob but switched the regular rice with the Shirin rice. The Shirin rice is sweet so if you prefer the standard salty rice, I'd recommend a different option though I think they have 6 different rice options to choose from! Perfect level of attentiveness and pacing, he also gave the best descriptions of the menu to our questions I've ever experienced. Made suggestions for other items he thought we would like based on our likes and now we have to go back to try more things. I will ask to sit in his section when we do. This place is exceptional!!! I cannot even put into words how good Rumi's Kitchen is because there are no words. The parking lot is small, but they offer valet (and it might be the only option?). If you go on a weekend night, I would recommend getting a reservation because this place gets packed. The atmosphere is can feel kind of upscale and the decorations inside reflect the elegance of the restaurant. It was my first time going there and my server was very helpful in telling me about the best options. I ended up ordering the Chicken Barg and it was exquisite. The chicken was so juicy and tenderthe meat was so easy to cut through. I also really liked the rice. I ate a bit of the Baklava that my friends ordered and it was also good! While this is an expensive restaurant, I think that the amount of food on a plate as well as the food quality is worth it. This is the lowest rating I can ascribe for food THIS good. Allow me to start with the positives -- the food here is SO well-executed. Rice varieties, freshly baked pita, phenomenal grill selection, and truly sublime spreads make this a culinary destination alongside Delbar or Yalda. I have successfully eaten here exactly one time. I wish I could even get close to the front door... on a weeknight. I have now had multiple incidences (x3 times since my first successful attempt) where my reservation times have been all but ignored. There is not seating to wait for your table to be called, so future diners are forced into corners and very much in the way of servers trying (valiantly, I might add) not to drop plates of grilled meats at patrons. We had specifically requested a table indoors (my wife at the time was 9 months pregnant) only to be shown an outside table in 30-degree weather. Space heater non-withstanding, we would not have specified if we did not have a reason for doing so, and honestly, preference is enough a reason if given the choice through OpenTable or any other online reservation engine. During our last attempt at dining here, upon recalling our car from the valet after waiting 45 minutes for a "reserved" table to no avail with nowhere to wait comfortably, the valet asked how we liked the restaurant. We told them nicely that we were unable to be seated despite having a reservation. The valet remarked "wow that's the 3rd time tonight I've heard that." Stop overbooking your restaurant. It's insulting as you have plenty of demand to turn tables and generate profit -- no need for manufactured scarcity. Also, any investment in sound deadening would be welcome as you cannot hear a thing in the restaurant which makes talking to the people at your table impossible. 2/5 is generous given how poorly we've been treated as eager diners who gave this place multiple shots. read more

The restaurant is located next door to IHOP (use this as your landmark if you have trouble finding it) and they offer valet parking. As usual, the service was on point, the food tasty with plentiful portion sizes, and the drinks perfect. 1 star - Extremely disappointing experience with poor communication and hidden policies We tried to dine at Rumi's Kitchen (Avalon area) as a group of 6 adults and 5 children, and the entire process was frustrating and unprofessional from start to finish. First, when calling to make a reservation for our party of 11, they refused to book it over the phone and told us we had to show up in person instead. That already felt inconvenient, but I went an hour early to secure the spot. Upon arrival, they asked if we had a reservation--as if the phone call never happened! After explaining the situation, they said the table would be ready in about 30 minutes. I mentioned our full group would arrive in an hour, so they asked me to come back in 30 minutes, which I did. Finally seated, but they placed us at an outdoor table with no shades or umbrellas on a bright, sunny day--uncomfortable for kids and adults alike. I politely asked to switch tables, and the host returned saying they were "trying to accommodate" us... but then dropped the bombshell: there's a $100 per person minimum charge for a party our size. This was absurd. Even if we ordered generously (say, 2 adult-sized meal per kid), we wouldn't come close to hitting $100 per person on food alone. We spoke with the manager, who confirmed it's not a food minimum but apparently a charge related to "rearranging tables" or accommodating larger groups. Nowhere was this mentioned during the initial phone call, when we arrived early, or at any point before seating us. If they can't accommodate a family group like ours without these surprise fees, they should state that upfront so people can plan differently--perhaps go somewhere more family-friendly or with transparent policies. The lack of clear communication, inconsistent information, uncomfortable seating, and last-minute policy reveal ruined what should have been a nice meal out. We ended up leaving without eating, as the minimum made it impractical. Save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere if you're a larger party or have kids--plenty of other Persian or Middle Eastern spots handle groups better. Went to lunch with my team yesterday. Keep in mind it is valet parking only - $2 plus gratuity. There is a lot of seating and a nice, upscale vibe. For some reason we were seated near the door despite there being many other empty tables and kept getting the cold draft every time the door open/closed. We ordered the Roasted Crimini & Oyster Mushroom Hummus and Short Smoked Salmon Hummus to share. The mushroom one was okay and the smoked salmon one was really good. It was not busy at all but the service was very slow. My coworker and I had to leave early for a meeting so we were not able to get our food & our takeout bags were mixed up. Amongst sad choices were the lamb shank, dolmeh, salmon hummus & barg kabob, subbing Shirin rice for the saffron basmati. The dolmeh, with its bright exit of pomegranate really stood out. That was until the birthday dessert of Persian ice cream arrived. The ice cream is a vanilla base, infused with saffron, rosewater, & pistachio. I had a couple of different glasses of wine, which were all excellent. The falafel, hummus, and chicken wings were all delicious to start. I loved the veggie platter and pita that came complementary to start as well. For my entree I got the sea bass, which was great quality and tender; however I do wish there was some sort of sauce with the dish. I asked for hummus on the side because it needed something. The rice was tasty but would have been better with potatoes or veggies as well for such a price of this entree. That alone was reason enough that we just had to stop here for dinner before leaving...and that we did! I can't say enough about the quality and taste of all of the food and drinks that we had, all of it so fresh, moist and tasty - if I could give it more than 5*, I would! We started with drinks - my wife opting for the Spice Mist (see picture) and myself the Black Rose (see picture). Both of them were delicious! In addition to the provided Bread & Sabzi (see picture) we also ordered a Smoked Salmon Hummus appetizer (see picture). We were thoroughly impressed with the rich, smooth hummus and the tender, flavorful salmon. For our main courses, my wife ordered the Rack of Lamb (see picture) and I opted for the Soltani Kabob (see picture) - both of which were recommendations from our friends and we really enjoyed both dishes. In addition, we ordered the Baghali (bean & dill rice), the Chili Chutney and the Mast Khiyar. If you haven't caught on yet, we ordered WAY too much food (especially the rice). Lastly, a couple of words of advice / caution for your future visit. While the quantity of food served was quite high and we made it worse by ordering even more food, the main courses and drinks are on the expensive side, so I gave 4* for Value. Lastly, while the building and the interior were beautiful, I gave 4* on Atmosphere due to the parking situation. There was a line of cars trying to get in, so they waved us through the Valet area. We then got to the back of the full lot and didn't know what to do. Ultimately, several other cars that were also waved through turned around and left the lot, so assuming it was full I did the same. After driving around in all 4 directions looking for parking and almost parking in the back of the IHOP lot (good thing I didn't - see picture), I ultimately gave up and found Public Parking in Google Maps - about a 4 block walk away against a cold wind. Come prepared to deal with the parking and the somewhat pricey menu and leave totally satisfied from the wonderful food experience! I am so glad to have tried Rumi's during a very short trip to Atlanta, often I find myself wanting to visit my favorite ATL staples when here for a short visit but this has been added to my list of favorites! Our little party of 5 had the pleasure of experiencing a Lunch here, tapas style as we wanted to try so many different items on the menu, and nothing disappointed! You know you are in the right place when you see freshly baked flat bread hanging off the open kitchen walls to cool! Wow! My first time at Rumi's and I definitely understand why it's popular! I went on a Tuesday night and was able to make a last minute reservation online. When you arrive you have to pay for Valet which is $2/3 i believe. We were quickly checked in and seated in 10-15 minutes. The decor was lovely and I loved the lighting and atmosphere. We ordered the Mirza Ghasemi which was the BEST! So delicious with feta cheese. Yum!!!! Definitely recommend this for the table. The corn ribs were flavorful but I don't know if I would order it again for $12. The lamb shank was very tender and served with dill rice and the Chinjeh Lubia Polo was delicious as well. I ordered medium but the meat was more well done. But still tasty nonetheless. The Black Rose cocktail was great as well! For your birthday they also give you free Baklava and Icecream! There was an incident while dining where the waitress dropped a wine glass on the floor and the glass went everywhere, but they were kind and quick to clean it up and replaced my plate. I normally love to attend Rumi's but after following the Yelp app to come here for lunch, I was surprised to see this place is closed until the summer. There is no information showing it's closed outside of a small sign at the parking entrance which I missed when I pulled in. I was met with some really rude and nasty construction workers while I was trying to turn around and head out of the area. I was unaware the building was closed and honestly I was shocked. The restaurant has amazing food but this just left a really bad taste in my mouth and I doubt I will return or choose a different location. The website and Yelp apps should be updated to reflect this location is closed until the summer. Don't go to Rumi's in Sandy Springs. read more

Amazing..Amazing... just absolutely Amazing!! Rumi's Kitchen is a visually stunning. You have a wonderful looking bar, and to the left of it the open kitchen. With so much action going on, you would think it would be chaos. But that is so far from the truth. Our food came out hot, fresh, and in a very reasonable time. I have to give our server plenty of credit, Charity was amazing. She pleasantly, give us recommendations on what to try. She was beyond accommodating, she was truly a pleasant person to engage with. I recommend every business, find a server that is as great as her. Salmon hummusiya- Wonderfully smooth red pepper eggplant spread. Top with delicious smoke salmon. I never had this dish, made this good ever before. A must order for those who enjoy salmon,especially smoke salmon. Comes with warm slices of naan bread. Grilled shrimp (2pcs)- Prawn shrimp seasoned perfectly..What takes this dish to another level, is the jalapeño feta cream sauce. Just the right touch of heat, with a creamy feta taste. Spinach & date salad- Omg. If you are the type of person who doesn't like salad, I can understand. Some people just don't like vegetables. But this isn't your typical salad. This salad has a wonderful date flavor, and it's not overpowering. The almonds is a nice touch. I also like how the toasted naan, was used in place of croutons.
