3.5 Despite having nerdy tendencies, this wasn't the place for me. I'm thinking that I experienced it in its weaker era. I came here on a work trip so there was a LOT going on: food buffets, bar mania, games of all sorts. Had I come here with a group of friends to play games and sip on a drink I think I would have had a different (read: better) experience. That said, I appreciate that B&B exists and what it's trying to do. Despite being here as part of a big group, the staff was perfectly lovely and patient. That's not always the case when it comes to dealing with large groups. The food menu is confusingly large and caters to about every taste.* I got a little grossed out at the thought of eating around so much dust. Board games and consoles are dirty/dusty. They show both easily. Eating around/in that didn't appeal to me. What *did* appeal to me, though, was the thought of drinking a potion. From the glass (straight up D&D) to the color (blue), I was all in. The Mana Potion had a lot of the right elements (gin, blue curacao, elderflower liqueur, lemon, and Sprite) but the extra zhuzh for our party was team too much. The edible glitter made the drink a bit thick and didn't do wonders for my stomach. It's a tough criticism because I was here for an extra sparkly drink/potion. Definitely on brand. For me, Battle & Brew is an odd space that could benefit from some editing. But, it looks like I am in the minority. I can agree with not being the target audience. So, gamers, have at it! *I didn't experience much in the way of GF/DF/VG options but, again, target audience. read more

I was truly excited to try this place because it is such a cool concept. Went yesterday for dinner with my husband, daughter, and my friend and her daughter. We opted for the board games for $7 so that we could play together at the table while we ate, which is a great idea in theory but the execution left a lot to be desired. Most of the games we tried to play were old, dirty (yuck), and incomplete. For example, we were unable to play Guess Who because both the red and blue lineups were missing people and many of the people cards were torn into pieces. We were able to play What Do You Meme, but it was obvious that most of the meme cards were missing, so we had to stop abruptly when we ran out of new cards. Since people are eating and playing, effort should be made to keep the games clean, or at the very least, provide hand sanitizer at each table so that guests aren't grossed out about handling dirty game pieces in between grabbing bites of their sandwich or other finger food. I just feel like even though $7 for board game play is reasonable, it felt far less justifiable after experiencing the issues I just explained. If you are going to charge people any amount to use the games, ensuring that those games are complete and sanitary seems like a reasonable expectation. Service was okay but most of the food did not even meet the okay standard. We started with mozerrela sticks, which were okay. The fries with all our meals were obviously the frozen bagged kind you can find at any grocery store. They added seasoning but it's not enough to hide the fact that you are eating frozen fries at a sit down restaurant. My husband ordered the Don't Call It Hotlanta chicken sandwich and I think that was probably the best tasting thing we all ordered. I ordered the ATLA with cheese and did not like it very much. The bread was too crispy, the cheese was cold, and the overall flavor just didn't do it for me. My daughter ordered the mac and cheese with a side of fries. It does say on the menu that it is Kraft mac and cheese. She didn't complain, but she's 12 and not too picky so no surprise there. I had a soda water, my daughter had a sprite, and my husband had two mixed drinks (I think margaritas). Our total bill including the $7 for a crappy board game experience came out to $94 before tip. It was not worth it and I would never return for dinner nor can I recommend that others consider this a worthy dinner spot. Nevertheless, it would be a cool spot to come to with a big group of friends to play the computer and video games while enjoying a few drinks and maybe an appetizer or two. I could see that being a fun experience and would be open to returning to play the video games with friends or maybe one of their event nights like trivia that sounds like a good time, but I won't come back specifically for dinner because there are far better place to get a far superior meal for that price around here. So, at the end of the day, two stars is my review for the dinner and board game experience, but it would probably be closer to a 4 for just video games and drinks or events because I don't think there is anything else like it around here. I am not 100% on pricing for the video games but I think I saw something like $20 per hour, which I think might be a little pricey. I had heard about Battle & Brew for many years, but never got around to actually going. Me, my wife, and our two best friends went one day after dinner. I had an idea of what this place, but wasn't exactly sure what it all entailed. We walked in and were greeted by a large shelf or should I say shelves of a bunch of different board and card games. We walked to the register and told them we wanted to play some board/card games. I believe it was $7 per hour and then $35 for everything else. Everything else means all the video/electronic games. Think PS5, Switch, PC, Xbox. It was sooooo cool seeing everyone play all the different games. There were bigger groups, couples, people by themselves. It's truly a place where anyone can go and have a good time! We got some drinks (they have a really cool cocktail menu). They do have a food menu too, but we just came from dinner, so we only got drinks. Our service wasn't the best though. It took forever for someone to come and check on us, and no one came to fill our water the entire time we were there. Service could definitely be a lot better! Battle & Brew is in a shopping center, so there is plenty of parking. It's also pretty big too, so there is plenty of seating inside. If you're a gamer and haven't been here yet, where have you been?! I finally made it for trivia night and it was genuinely one of our most fun date nights in a while. There's plenty to enjoy no matter when you visit, but if you're going for an actual event, make a reservation through the site because seats fill up fast! Speaking of seats, yes, there's traditional restaurant and bar seating, but then there are also stations with those comfy gaming chairs (one of my favorite things, I swear!). The food was tasty, drinks were great, and I really enjoyed the spirit-free cocktail list too, because I feel like you don't see those enough. Very well designed gaming spot! I love the wall murals. They have a large variety of board games on the shelves right when you walk in. There's also video games on the pc or console but that is per hour. We personally game in for the board games (it's $7 for the whole day but used to be $5 before inflation). Still worth it! I haven't heard of most games, but I wish there was a way to recommend some popular games that they should have. I couldn't give it a five stars because one of the games was missing a whopping 14 cards (the odd ones out board games). So I wish they took care of them a bit more or a way for people to let staff know if something is missing or wrong. They have a drink and food menu. The soft serve is unlimited refills. Trivia does get pretty popular so make sure you have a reservation or arrive early to get a table! Visited while in town for a concert. It seemed like a good opportunity to check out all the themed cocktails and see what exactly a gaming restaurant looks like. For the first time they explain how things work and the costs. For less than $10 you can play games they have there or spend a bit more to have a digital gaming station. The concept is cool as it making gaming a far more social experience. I ordered the lemon pepper chicken sandwich and fries. The sandwich was okay, but not as lemon peppery as I hoped and unfortunately my fries were awful maybe over fried or something. My sister's fries were better. Once our food arrived our server did stop by one more time but we didn't see her again. I actually had to track her down to get the check so we could leave. I have been here a lot over the years. The food and the drink selection always used to be incredible along with the great atmosphere. There has been a drastic difference in the last few months. The drink menu has been shortened significantly. All the old staff seem to have turned over and the food is clearly pre bought Cisco food. Worst of all, the food is so salty it was inedible. They are cutting corners now and it shows. I own video games, so I can easily play at home. However, I come here for good food and good atmosphere with friends. They have the Mana, Health, Stamina and Estus potions. We tried them all and they were actually pretty good and strong. As per food, they got a little bit of everything for bar food. We tried their chicken tenders & tater tots and the chicken is actually pretty good! We sat in couch with the consoles and our orders were taken from here and delivered by our server. I have to say service was pretty slow when they didn't seem as busy. They also took forever to switch out games for us. All in all, cool place to hang out, we'll be back! I've been going here for years and now I conveniently live very close by to it. A nice nerd bar where you can eat, drink and play games. The food is mostly standard bar food but they have some Asian and brunch style dishes as well. They have a fully stock bar and a huge variety of beer and specialty drink offerings and non-alcoholic cocktails too. I don't think I can remember a time where I didn't like the food that I've had but I always seem to get the dragon talons with sweet potato fries or tater tots. The talons are basically massive chicken fingers and I typically get it with either yum yum sauce or the gochujang aioli. They have a pretty nice variety of video games you can play as well that you pay by the hour. Unfortunately they have increased their prices over the years so I don't really come to play games anymore but if you have a group with you, then it's not as bad because you can split the cost. This really looks like it will be a cool place. They basically charge you by the hour for game time... but at least when we were here it was pretty busy and they were short on staff so it took too long to get things... switch games drinks, food... even if it takes 10 mins each time and you switch a game twice that is a third of your hour spent on waiting. We got some chicken baskets, some mozzarella sticks, and a cheese burger. The food was passable but nothing special and certainly nothing to write about. This is a venue for playing video games and having drinks. The sad thing is we paid over 200 for an hour and a half of game time, to eat food that was not worth the money, and to sit and wait for stuff while our time ticked away. We hosted an adult surprise birthday party here due to its flexibility and ability to accommodate large groups. We don't take that for granted, because in Atlanta, this is extremely hard to find. Aliecia, the coordinator was very easy to communicate with and she accommodated us well. In my opinion, their party packages are a very good value. It includes time to gaming, a full buffet, and drink tickets for all the guests. Everyone left full, they don't skimp on the serving sizes. The drinks were good, too! I personally enjoyed Ryuk's Delight. It was well balanced and had a bit of a cinnamon spice to it. I have been meaning to come here for years. I can't believe it took a spontaneous decision after Chinese food for it to happen. My 3 friends and I came in on Saturday night, and it was pretty busy. They said the wait for a table was at least an hour. You can see walking around that most of the tables weren't actually occupied, but I assumed they had a wait because of limited waitstaff. The staff informed us we could take a seat at the PC screens and that's where we ended up staying the whole night. That wasn't a big deal because we were able to put our name on the game waitlist while we ate. Beware that they do get pretty busy at night. Everything is very themed and funny. The potions come in a round potions bottle with edible glitter!! They had cocktails, shots, wine, beer and sodas. I tried the Sailor Chirbi Chirbi Mocktail, which was probably my favorite drink. Can we all have a moment for mocktails? Thank goodness we have fun zero alcohol options. The food was delicious!! Lots of comfort food. The burgers and chicken sandwiches looked so yummy. To top it all off, they have a sauces menu. Seriously, this place is so good. They even have gluten-free and vegetarian options. I was able to find allergy-friendly items. My only wish was to have gluten-free buns to try a burger - a girl's gotta dream.
