I normally love to attend Rumi's but after following the Yelp app to come here for lunch, I was surprised to see this place is closed until the summer. There is no information showing it's closed outside of a small sign at the parking entrance which I missed when I pulled in. I was met with some really rude and nasty construction workers while I was trying to turn around and head out of the area. I was unaware the building was closed and honestly I was shocked. The restaurant has amazing food but this just left a really bad taste in my mouth and I doubt I will return or choose a different location. The website and Yelp apps should be updated to reflect this location is closed until the summer. Don't go to Rumi's in Sandy Springs. read more

With so much action going on, you would think it would be chaos. But that is so far from the truth. Our food came out hot, fresh, and in a very reasonable time. I have to give our server plenty of credit, Charity was amazing. She pleasantly, give us recommendations on what to try. She was beyond accommodating, she was truly a pleasant person to engage with. I recommend every business, find a server that is as great as her. Salmon hummusiya- Wonderfully smooth red pepper eggplant spread. Top with delicious smoke salmon. I never had this dish, made this good ever before. A must order for those who enjoy salmon,especially smoke salmon. Comes with warm slices of naan bread. Grilled shrimp (2pcs)- Prawn shrimp seasoned perfectly..What takes this dish to another level, is the jalapeño feta cream sauce. Just the right touch of heat, with a creamy feta taste. We started with the "Roasted Crimini and Oyster Mushroom" hummus -- the hummus was delicious and was elevated to an even more delicious level by the layer of crimini and oyster mushrooms atop the hummus. The black garlic and porcini broth rounded out the flavor profile perfectly. This was by far the best hummus I've ever had. And the pita bread slices were soft and fluffy yet sturdy enough to hold the hummus and mushrooms. For my entree, I ordered the chicken kabob with grilled vegetables instead of rice. The chicken was juicy and cooked perfectly, and the lemon saffron brine added a tangy kick to each bite. The grilled vegetables may have been my favorite part of the meal -- the serving was much bigger than I expected, and the mix of peppers, zucchini, onions, tomatoes and mushrooms was heavenly. I could have made that a meal all on its own. I loved the ambiance inside the restaurant, but it was HOT -- and this is coming from someone who is very cold-natured. I've had Persian food many times before and was looking forward to trying this restaurant. In my opinion, it's overcrowded and quite busy but the food quality is 3/5 for me. Let me tell you about the things I liked and didn't like. I liked their Old fashioned drink; it was great. Service is also pretty quick. Reservation are highly recommended otherwise you will be waiting quite awhile. We made reservations in advance. We were being creative and started with their appetizer combo of trying 4 different things. We didn't have this option on the menu but we asked the server about creating one because we wanted to try different things on the menu. See photos below. The appetizer was the best thing in my opinion and I enjoyed the eggplant, hummus and yoghurt the most. As for the entree, I went with joojeh kebab which comes with bone in hen, lemon, lime and saffron basmati rice. It was very bland for my liking even with their green chutney on the side, which I paid extra for. I just found the food to lack flavor altogether. If it weren't for the chutney and hot sauce on the side, I think I would have left without eating it. My husband liked his Chineh Lubia polo. See photos below. Ii came here to celebrate a friends birthday and they never disappoint. The hostess was amazing because she had a lot of people checking in and she kept her cool, delegated and managed to get everyone seated and accommodated. We ordered falafel, humus with lamb , chicken, ground lamb etc. (see the pictures) Malik and Jonathan were great and they kept the glasses of water full and very attentive. This restaurant has their customer service training down and they know what they are doing. The food was amazing and barely anything left over. I think we only had rice. They offer gluten free chips for an additional cost. The restaurant is clean, open concept and spacious. You think that not many people can fit there but you would be surprised.if you are planning on attending during a weekend. You need a reservation or you will be eating at the bar. The inly suggestion it is that they should not allow baseball hats. Such beautiful and elegant restaurant and they allow hats . We've been dining at Rumi for years and have always enjoyed the experience, but our visit on Friday night was disappointing. The restaurant was packed, which is understandable for a popular spot, but the noise level was overwhelming--so loud that it was nearly impossible to have a conversation, let alone communicate with our waiter. Speaking of service, it was noticeably lacking. Our server seemed disengaged and made little effort to make things smoother, which is unusual for Rumi. On the bright side, the food was as good as always, but is it just me, or have the prices gone up a few dollars? Not a deal-breaker, but when prices increase, service should improve, not decline. The management really needs to address the acoustics--something about the ceiling just isn't absorbing the noise, making for a less enjoyable dining experience. We came to Rumi's on a Sunday with a 6:30PM reservation to celebrate a birthday! There is a $2 valet parking. We were seated quickly but unfortunately it was quite warm. We had to ask for the AC to be turned on because it did get quite uncomfortable. Either way we got the pita and tasting platter quickly. To drink, I got the gin drink and it was phenomenal and fresh! For an appetizer, we got the wings and hummus. The hummus was creamy and delicious and the service was generous with the pita. The wings were cooked to perfection and delicious. For the main, we shared the chicken barb and a lamb kabob. We were going to get something else but they had a run out of quite a few things but either way. The chicken barg was phenomenal and juicy and the lamb was tender and cooked to perfection. The filet mignon kabob was also great and we had PLENTY of rice. Overall, the meal was great! Let's start by saying this is the best Persian restaurant in Atlanta. I came here for my anniversary lunch and made reservations through OpenTable. Me and my wife arrived and valeted our car for $2, very easy and convenient. We were promptly sat by the hostess near the large water fountain in the center of the restaurant close to the kitchen. The vibes are positive and I loved seeing all the casual business people meeting over an intimate meal. We ordered a kashk badenjoon which was perhaps the tastiest eggplant dish I have ever had. It was full of a smokey flavor and not too sweet. It pairs great with naan which you can see hanging in the kitchen from the dining area. Our waitress Fatimah helped me decide on a kebob and I went with the beef sirloin and it was so tender and delicious. Did not regret my decision one bit. The plates and servings are quite larger here. Unlike a traditional middle eastern dinner with large plates for sharing, each plate is served for an individual, so you'll get a large portion of basmati rice. In this case, I was able to split between both regular and bean and tomato. When I was a kid my mom used to make rice in a similar way from some traveling my grandfather did overseas. The green beans and tomato rice were cooked to perfection. If you are a rice connoisseur, you love the basmati here. Our waitress surprised us with a baklava dessert. My wife went to use the restroom and came back to find the deli ion baklava and ice cream. This was the perfect anniversary dinner. The food was everything we remembered! We went for lunch on a weekday; highly recommend making a reservation around this time. We had to wait even with one. Our only complaint was it is very, very noisy. We are looking forward to the re-opening of Sandy Springs. If the newly renovated restaurant follows its tradition, the food and atmosphere will be perfect for a quiet dinner for two, or celebration with family or a group of friends. First time, and we chose Mother's Day to try it out. The place was absolutely slammed. Well I would usually be annoyed at waiting 1hr to get seated with a three year old, but it was so worth it. Food was tremendous. Dolmeh, hummus, merquez Sausage ( a must have) for starter and then Sea bass entre was incredible, I had lamb kabob and we picked from Chicken barg and chicken kabobs for kids. I went here with a large group the other day, and we had such a great time! The service was amazing--you can tell they really know how to handle a packed restaurant. Even though it was busy, the staff was incredibly attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food and drinks were both great! I was advised that this was one of the best Persian restaurants in the country from an Iranian person, and the restaurant was truly lovely with impeccable service. The atmosphere was lively and elegant, and interestingly, the server will lay either a black or white napkin on your lap to most closely match whatever color you're wearing. The food was attractively prepared, and I assume it's a wonderful version of what it's supposed to be. I enjoyed it, but honestly did not feel like it was spectacularly different from any other koobideh I'd had before. I did like it better than the lamb shank, which I thought I would love, but I found the lamb nice in texture, but slightly bland in taste. The bread is freshly made and the eggplant was my favorite dish of the night. The restaurant was crowded on a weeknight, and I understand that this is always the case. My fascination with Persian cuisine extends back to my childhood. "Raisins in my rice" I'd think to myself. But unfolding before me was an entire world of tastes and textures that shaped the culinary world that I live in. Rumi's reminds me of the rich Iranian food we'd experience in Tehran during my father's business trips when I was a boy. Everything seemed so abundant and aromatic. The only thing lacking is the men lining the boulevards sipping incredibly potent coffee and discussing academics, art, and of course politics or about the affairs of their day while playing backgammon. Today I enjoyed the lamb kabob, but everything was scrumptious, every appetizer, the tea, everything. So, wander in (reservations are highly recommended), and enjoy. We had a dinner reservation for a party of 10 + 1 baby at 5:30 pm on 2/18/23. The bread and sabzi that comes out before the meal is always sooo good. The bread is fresh and warm. The feta, mint, radish, and walnuts are the perfect thing to whet my appetite. We split 5 appetizers (tastes), 7 entrees (feasts), and subbed one rice for grilled vegetables. Subbing the rice, at the suggestion of our waitress, was the move because 5 rices would've been too much. The grilled vegetables gave us the perfect ratio. Here's what we got: - Tastes: Labne ($10), Shirazi Salad ($11), Falafel ($14), Kashk Badenjoon ($14), Lamb Hummusiya ($14). - Feasts: Chicken Barg ($29), Roasted Salmon ($34), Lamb Kabob ($35), Soltani Kabob ($37), Shrimp Kabob x2 ($37 each). - Rice, in order of my preference: Adas, Shirin, Zereshk, Baghali. I would actually not get the Baghali again. I would sub the Adas or Shirin for the Baghali. I got the Passion Fruit Homemade Soda ($3.50) and wasn't impressed. They were quick and efficient and at the end of the night it was $2 plus tip for valet on a Tuesday night. FOOD + DRINKS Now for my favorite part. My friend and I ordered the Chicken Kabob and our other friend ordered the Chicken Barg. I love a good kabob, but I was a bit underwhelmed. The server did let us know the Kabob is a little dry and the Barg is juicer, so I knew was I was ordering. I enjoyed my friend Barg more, I will be ordering that next time. For our main, we got the shrimp kabob, which was HUGE and so flavorful. I wasn't a huge fan of the rice because it had a lot of orange and I'm not a huge fan of fruit in savory things. We ordered hummus, green chili chutney, roasted eggplant with tomatoes and garlic dip, and fried eggplant in cream of whey and fried onions dip. They were all so good, and I could've probably had a whole meal with just the spreads. The hummus was insanely smooth. The green chili chutney was not spicy and was full of flavor. My husband really loved his lamb kebob and my son loved the koobedah (sorry for that spelling lol)... And I did like my salmon just fine but the marinade was just a bit EXTRA for me. I'm sure any "normal" person would have loved it (and my husband actually really did - I let him try a bite - which is crazy because he doesn't like citrus and this marinade was heavy on that), but there was too much citrus for me. I personally LOVE the taste of salmon by itself... But when you hit up Rumi's be prepared for proteins to be pre-marinated. Middle Eastern food represents a constant craving for me and my wife, and over the years we have returned to Rumi's kitchen multiple times to satisfy our craving for unique mezze, fresh tandoori bread, juicy kabobs, and perfect Persian rice. Our most recent meal there with my parents solidified it as one of our favorite places to eat in the area. We chose to dine at this original Sandy Springs location the weekend of Christmas, and the restaurant was packed with family celebrations large and small. The valet parking line looked a disaster, so we opted for street parking about 2 blocks away. The host escorted us to our table shortly after arrival and our waiter greeted us within a few minutes. We placed our orders and received our food at a comfortable pace. All the items we sampled tasted excellent. We opted for four small plates to start. The kashk bademjoon, with its savory fried eggplant, sweet fried onions, and rich whey topping, is a must order. We also enjoyed the zesty, tender and sweet carrots which arrived atop a schmear of tangy labneh. We always order the lamb hummus here and the creamy, lemony chickpea puree complimented the salty, spicy chunks of lamb sausage well. We shared two main courses among three people and we had enough for a meals worth of leftovers. While all of the kababs we have sampled here have been good, the tender, juicy, and expertly seasoned lamb koobideh deserves special mention. We opted to upgrade our rices to "adas polo" and enjoyed the addictive, fluffy grains of buttery basmati rice studded with sweet raisins and earthy lentils The always great service here stands out, and this visit was no exception. For example, our waiter overheard that we were celebrating an anniversary after we had received the check and discreetly dropped off complimentary baklava at our table to take home. He also coursed out the meal at a comfortable pace, kept drinks filled, and remained helpful and affable throughout the busy service. The trifecta of excellent food, service, and ambiance that Rumi's offers consistently earns it a place as one of our favorite spots in metro Atlanta and a must visit for fans of Middle Eastern flavors. read more

After looking for awhile she suddenly realized she could seat us anyway, even though my partner showed her his confirmed reservation. 2. The waiter initially forget about us and did not come to our table to get us drinks until after I went back to the hostess to ask her if we would have a water. 3. The food was good overall and after the waiter realized she'd forgotten about us and apologized they offered a complimentary dessert. The remainder of her service after the initial blip was excellent so it made up for the initial lapse in memory. The hostess offered no apology. It doesn't get much better than Rumi's in terms of Persian food. It's one of my Persian in laws' favorite places to eat and I'm told the bread is some of the best they've ever had. Personally, I think the Koobideh Kabob is one of the better items on the menu. The grilled shrimp is also fantastic. You really can't go wrong with anything here. We have been to this restaurant multiple times and have been huge fans since it opened. It pains me to write this review honestly but last night visit was so disappointing that I had to say something. It was a Thursday dinner for a party of 3 (8/4/22) - me, my bf and his friend in town for a visit. Naturally, we wanted to show him a good time. Well, it didn't go nearly as planned. Our waitress was extremely spaced out all evening and it was impossible to get her attention even when she was literally passing by our table. We started off with drinks. She took our friend's order, then mine. I make a small conversation; she tells us she comes from Sandy Springs location etc. blah blah. She takes my bf's order, then goes back to our friend to take his drink order AGAIN. And she was writing stuff down... Drinks took forever, she claimed the bar was slammed. When we finally got our cocktails, they had perspiration all over the glassware as though they've been sitting at the bar sweating all this time. When we ordered another round later, she brought us completely wrong drinks. Seeing how long the process took, we tried to order apps and entrees, but it took some trying to get her to our table. We tried mushroom hummus for the app and it was really good. I asked if the duck entrée could be made with sauce on the side and was happy to learn that it was possible. Yay! Kudos to the chef for accommodating! My duck came with barberry rice and the sauce on the side. Absolutely delicious. I wasn't super hungry though, so I ate a couple of pieces of duck and decided to take home the rest, anticipating a delicious lunch next day. Well, when we got home and I opened the bag to place food in the fridge, the duck was missing! Also I like how every table gets complimentary sparkling water, naan, radishes, cheese, etc. We got it with olive oil and garlic yogurt sauce on the side. Very delicious and sprinkle the pink seasoning on top too. Everything came on otter sized plates. For dessert I had Baklava and it was the best baklava ever. Pistachios, not walnuts. Have it with the cardamom ice cream. My boyfriend said this is his favorite restaurant ever. I'm not sure if it's my favorite ever I would really have to think about that more but definitely top three. I will think about this meal very often for the rest of my life. Please open in Charlotte.
