Block & Drum is an incredible space with lots of events throughout the week. They have a classy inside part which usually has chairs and seating, then they have a giant outdoor space with a huge screen, green turf space, and more seating. They set up multiple bars for bigger events so you don't have to wait on line for long, and they typically already include tax and gratuity automatically. They've switched to valet parking only, or at least for the event I went to. It was $15 but they say you can park for free at the Walmart down the road. read more

I met a small group of people here and the venue is as described by most other reviewers on this platform. I opted to park at the Wal-Mart and wasn't as familiar with the trail so I took the street route. Well-light and populated for safe crossing. The venue is very open and was relatively empty since we arrived shortly after it opened. I love the indoor seating concept with plenty of couches, movable chairs, tables near the open-area space and smaller sections for 2-4 people tucked away along the wall. The DJ was already doing his thing and the bartenders remained busy. As someone who wasn't interested in the drinks, I appreciate that there was a self-serve water cooler in the center of the room. The Jenga and jumbo Uno cards were a hit!!!! It was so nice to have these options available. And as others mentioned, the large screen was playing a classic movie - which we could still see from inside. I didn't stay long and this was a Sunday night but the parking lot was much busier when I left. I imagine the outdoor space gets crowded later in the evening as well. The DJ was just okay - not my cup of tea - but folks seemed to be enjoying themselves. I can definitely see why this place is popular. Although parking is less than desirable, it is not unreasonable. The venue is well-lit and easy to move around. The crowd was diverse, with various ages and backgrounds represented. And depending on the DJ, this would be a great place for meeting with friends, date night or just zoning out to some wonderful music ... especially on a beautiful night. Great Vibes, semi decent drinks. We ending up stopping at Block N Drum on Saturday night after a friends wedding. We got there at prime time because parking was super full. We ended up spinning around the "block" and was able to grab a valet parking space. Though the parking lot seemed full the inside was spacious and didn't feel super super crowded. They had a live DJ that night that was playing some bangers. We got a couple of their specialty cocktails and were a little disappointed. Might've been me or the fact they were super busy, but I felt like the drinks were super sweet. But overall cool place, definitely plan on going back to try again. read more

Latinos be ware they don't want us here !!! Very unprofessional staff and especially security. Since the moment we got there security was very hostile and making smart comments . To say the least the night ended with security chocking a kid and kicking out others escalating situations . He ended up arrested and the manager screaming dropping f bombs ! We are from New Jersey and we're looking for something to do and we came here and although the ambience was everything and the vibe also was amazing. My only drawback was that we ordered a Tito's with cranberry juice, and it definitely didn't taste like Tito's and they were just playing house music all night. I attended an event here recently and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The biggest issue was with the security staff, who came across as rude, aggressive, and unprofessional throughout the night. A friend of mine was also using an electronic vape outside, and the interaction with security quickly escalated. The situation was handled in a way that appeared unnecessarily aggressive and left many people feeling uncomfortable. He was strangled in a chokehold and wasn't able to breathe. It was about six people who had to help him get out of the chokehold. To make matters worse, the event was shut down early despite many attendees, including myself, paying for VIP access. The combination of the poor security experience and the event ending prematurely made the night feel like a waste of time and money. I don't place all the blame on the venue itself, but the security team significantly impacted the overall experience. Based on what I experienced, I would be hesitant to attend another event here in the future. read more

Parking was easy. I parked in the garage under Walmart, took the stairs up, and walked straight toward the building. No outside food or drinks allowed. When I walked in, a big screen was playing the football game, and the vibe felt like a relaxed after-work crowd. The DJ was set up inside, spinning vinyl. He was good, but he wasn't talking on the mic or pulling the crowd in. Everyone mostly stayed with the people they came with, so there wasn't much mixing or conversation. The outdoor area to the right has the food truck, which was a nice touch, but the energy still felt like it needed a little spark. The staff was friendly, and the space itself has potential. A little more interaction from the DJ or themed nights could bring the room to life. Even with that, I'd go back. I had the pleasure of returning to Block and Drum for their Hi-Fi listening session featuring the incomparable Donny Hathaway. The DJ, Stolen Drums, spun a four-hour set full of Donny's greatest works--songs he sang, played on, or was featured in. It was a soulful, immersive experience inside. Meanwhile, outside they had a food truck and were showing Cadillac Records on the big screen, which added to the night's atmosphere. Block and Drum is the kind of place you go when you want a mature yet fun environment--crafted cocktails, epic vibes, and great scenery. The bartenders are skilled and everything is made in-house, from the liquor to the cocktails. This was my second visit, and I ordered the Summertime Saadness again, just like my first time. So if you looking for smooth vibes, this one of them ones! So if you check your website when you get a chance, you can see what they have going on. They may have some live music or DJ set or anything. But make sure you figure out what's going on for that evening. I've only been on the back half of the night, when it's already been pretty packed. You'll find parking wherever you can, and then heading to the venue. Parking is not free if you park in the lot. The last time I went it was $20. But there are other areas and places around to park at, so you don't necessarily have to park in there specific parking lot. When you get there, you have to pay to get in. I don't know if the difference of the price would be contingent on if you pay at the door versus paying perhaps online, but all I know is when you walk up before you get to security, it was like $25 the last night I went. There's an inside and an outside element to this establishment. It's kind of like one big living room on the inside. The outside looks like a small concert venue. You may have a stage act going or you may have some DJs spinning, it depends on the night. But there's a lot of room and they also have an outside bar area that you can order drinks from. On a really nice night, this is pretty cool. It's not a lot of seats outside, but people are mostly just standing around listening to music and dancing. On the inside though, they're much more seats and it's a lot more chill of a vibe. There is a place where you can get drinks at, and if there's a DJ or so they'll be spinning toward the front of the room. But all throughout the room, their couches and chairs and places to sit and congregate. They have decks of cars laying around so you can play cards and have a good time. This spot has a distillery vibe to it, they make their own liquor. So don't expect to go in there ordering Tito's or Jack Daniels. They make their own in house, and the drinks are probably maybe about $15 or so. Personally, I didn't go for the drinks, they weren't anything special at all. I will just go for the vibes. Also to note, they may have a food truck there so you won't necessarily starve if you come hungry. The last time I was at it had a taco food truck, and there was a steady line there. I'd already eaten so I wasn't hungry but that is an option. Overall I wouldn't go here for the drinks, but I would definitely go here to kickback and listen some good house music. Came here last year and everything was great but this year it turned out the opposite. Block and drum need to tighten their security, one of the guards assaulted a patron and ended up going to jail. Block and drum also have a mandatory closed bar with their own tequila/liquor buts it's too overpriced and bad quality. For them to be located in Chamblee and charging Atlanta prices is ridiculous. read more

They had a food truck but it's not their food so won't really feel fair to talk of that business in this review but the drinks were top tier. The people were pretty down to earth and cool as hell. Which is also how the space is. Recognize it's a repurposed venue and while you can park at Walmart and walk over it is a walk over. Didn't use the valet but they seemed a bit mixed up when I saw them. None of this would get me to not come back just prepare up front. It's a place to go to vibe, drink, chill. Met up with a few high school friends here on a Saturday night. Finding the parking lot was tricky for me! I missed the entrance the first time. They had an event the night we came, so we were not able to go outside. I really enjoyed the decor. It reminded me of an old school living room. The dj was ok, it was definitely catered for an older crowd. Because they're a distillery, they only carry certain spirits. I like bourbon, so I stuck with that. It's such a vibe and it is mostly a place where you stand up however, they do have games that are sitting on the table such as big cards of Uno and other games that you can play with large groups of people there is also a food truck on the side that has phenomenal food. I'm very pleasantly surprised about how much I enjoyed this spot. The vibes are very relaxed and chilled, which I loved. They also have a lot of different areas to sit and listen to the music, which was nice. There is an outside area with some games and a screen, and they have rotating food trucks. I definitely see it being a great spot for summer. Parking can be hard, but there is extra parking by the Walmart. The only thing I didn't love was the mocktail I had. I asked the bartender if he could make one, and he said yes and that he would add ginger beer, but I don't think he put any in it. It was like just straight lemon, and I think orange juice with a little grapefruit soda on top, but it was so bitter and not very good. It was also $14, which I think is too much for being mostly lemon juice and like no sugar, so I would avoid that and just have the free water next time. read more

You're walking in you immediately welcome by the musical styles of the DJs. they do have on-site food vendor , depending on the occasions on specific events. You have amazing beers and crafts and cocktails, and play games. Pretty much feels like you're at a family gathering. Great vibes highly recommend they do have parking on site for $20 to valet, but I see people park at the Waffle House next door and walk over. Not sure if that's recommended because of towing but take your own risk read more

Then, the back opens to this large indoor/outdoor space. There's small tables to catch a seat if your feet hurt. Or there's picnic tables. I believe there was real grass or turf. I took my shoes off and danced the night away. Inside to the left there's a huge area with tables and plenty seating. A long bar, but there's also a smaller one outside at a stand. Tambor Party: Sol y Luna (monthly event, African house and world music). Electric energy. Grown crowd. No really young or rowdy people around. Hipster type. First time at this spot. Went on a Wednesday and the venue is beautiful. Spacious and different opportunities for whatever your vibe maybe. The DJ was nice for Marvin Gaye night. I love they started with the theme then switched to the vibe of the crowd. The service was fast at the bar with plenty of variety. The green screen area showing a movie was spacious. Plenty of seating. Parking was $15 and we paid through app for valet. Drinks were pricey and the bartender confirmed they added their tip so no extra was necessary. A drink would be $13 but come out to $17. Tried most of the drinks on the menu and all except the last call were really tasty. Last call is kind of like a long island ice tea without the teaseating in the bar area is cozy and a food truck outside with seating. The taco truck had delicious options with steak. Initially I was told this was a coffee shop and a chill place to post up with your laptop. While I found that to be true (and to my surprise), it was SOOO much than that oh my goodness... Block Drum gives WELL rounded vibes. They have a coffeeshop, they have a bar that serves cocktails and makes a good mojito if I might add. They have food trucks, play good music, and have a space right outside for events. The folks who work there are super sweet too. We didn't get to stay too long due to a private event being held, but with that said I will definitely be back. Imagine going to get some work done, then putting down the laptop and vibing to some good music with a dope atmosphere, that's my type of balance. Truly a vibe! Block & Drum is located a bit off the beaten path, but signage guided to parking and then to entrance. The hallway leading to the main section of Block & Drum was a bit desolate with some more signs that led to a door to the left where the bar area was located, and an open area just beyond with a food truck. It was a bit chilly outside, so only peeked briefly. Later noticed on social media that space was a functional area that would be very nice during warmer weather. The main area featured vinyl selections displayed on the walls and led to couches and small tables next to a large bar. The bar was the pièce de résistance! A DJ set up was placed in the middle of the section, with a bar featuring craft cocktails surrounding. Couches and tables were located on the other side of the room and many sections had games, including extra large Uno cards and others similar to connect 4. Beautifully designed drinks accompanied most patrons and a large water container was placed in seating area to allow for consumers to access freely. Food truck outside offered compliments to the cocktails; did not sample this visit but items offered looked interesting. DJ Kemit was the featured DJ during my visit and he played vinyl records throughout the night. He engaged the crowd through his selections and with warm glances of acknowledgment. His melodic movements kept the patrons jovial as games were played and conversations among groups of all sizes continued. Planning to return to explore all offerings. I definitely found this place to be very interesting. I've seen several people post this place on their Instagram stories and it always looks like something that I wouldn't mind checking out for sure just based off of the decor and everything else that I've seen. It did not disappoint in that aspect. It is really nicely decorated. They have a lot of of artwork and music records used as decoration that really make this place very aesthetically pleasing. The music was also really good as well. It was an older crowd when we went, and everybody was dancing and seeming to enjoy themselves, I got a drink, which was kind of pricey I'm not gonna lie. However it did taste really good so it was a quality drink. My bartender was fair. She wasn't rude at all, but she wasn't overly friendly either but overall no complaints with the service. It was moderately filled up, but it wasn't completely packed in there and I'm curious to know if that's how it always is or if there are times where it does get more packed, but either way it was a cool experience. I imagine Block & Drum is well on its way to becoming a hot spot. It's a unique venue with relaxed outdoor and indoor lounge spaces. They offer a coffee bar and bar serving cocktails made with their own distilled spirits, rotating food trucks and there's a stage providing a small amphitheater feel. They had a DJ during my visit but there's also live performances. There's not a ton of parking but you can park in the lower level deck at Walmart which is a short walk away. I was so excited when Block & Drum finally opened their doors. After living in the Brookhaven area for a few months, I was getting tired of driving downtown for some music and vibes. Finally, I can hang out in my own backyard. Block & Drum is a casual but contemporary coffee shop and bar. They distill and package their own spirits on site. This is a versatile venue with a huge event space holding up to 300+, an outdoor patio and cozy lounge. They have DJ's spinning vinyl on the weekends. This is definitely a great spot for a girls night, date night, or any occasion really. The food options are limited for right now, with plans to expand, per the owner. The bartenders are helpful with drink recommendations, and the drink list features signature cocktails named after popular songs. I just wish they had a full bar, but it may be in the works. I almost didn't want to write a review because I don't want the word to get out about this hidden gem. read more
