They have some of the best Persian saffron basmati rice I've ever had, and I also enjoyed both the Roasted Salmon Fillet and Soltani Beef Kabob. Next time I need to try the Watermelon Salad I saw someone enjoying at the bar when we went in for pickup. This refreshing looking salad has crushed cucumber, charred shallot, & feta goat cheese. First, let me state that the food is great. It's very flavorful and cooked well. I'm giving 3 stars because the bartenders allow people to vape at the bar & she was very aware that he was vaping. They are patient and ask about allergies. I have a family member with nut allergies, and they were very accommodating with every dish making sure that none of the allergies were touching the plates. So I appreciate that greatly. The ambience is very nice. Very middle upscale type environment. I dressed in sweatpants and a jersey, and I was definitely underdressed for the way everyone else was. One of my favorite places to get Middle Eastern food. I've even brought my friends and family here who also enjoyed the food. I've had the joojeh kabob and lamb chops on different occasions which were flavorful. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because the cornish hen needs to be cooked just a few minutes longer. The first two times I came here, the joojeh kabob was a bit red near the bone. The second time it occurred, I requested if they can cook it longer. They ended up making me a completely new meal at no charge; they even gave us free desserts for the inconvenience which was appreciated. When I reached out to my friend who used to live in Atlanta for restaurant recommendations, he immediately said "you have got to go to Rumi's." I trust him when it comes to good food, so I immediately made a reservation on Open Table. Our group was excited to enjoy some Peruvian cuisine as it is not something we have much of in our hometown. The joint was jumping on a Saturday night. I do love an open kitchen concept so you can see all the action. The decor was simple with some key pieces and greenery and large windows allowing light to shine in before it got fully dark. The table settings were classic and attractive with some ambiance lighting. To start things off. I indulged in the Persian Sunset (bourbon, ginger, fresh ginger, apricot jam) cocktail with a complementary small plate of pita type bread, cheese, walnuts, olives radish, and herbs. My husband got a different drink originally, but switched to this as he agreed it was real good. We crushed through the bread quickly, and were thrilled that they would bring us more to enjoy with our food. Our table had trouble settling on just a couple appetizers from the "Taste" section. But in the end went with the Dukkah roasted carrots (hazelnut, sesame seed, labneh), mirza ghasemi (smoked eggplant, tomato, garlic), and hummus (ground chickpea with green tahini & olive oil). The hummus was very creamy and enjoyable. While the mirza ghasemi didn't look very attractive, the flavor was great. Not sure if I have ever had smoked eggplant before but would like to have it again. The carrots took a long time to come from the kitchen, but they were nicely roasted and delicious. The labneh (yogurt with za'atar spices) underneath was great and I liked the additional crunch from the nuts. The roasted carrots were my favorite of the three. For entrees (or "Feast" based off their menu titling) I settled on the Chinjeh Lubia Polo (beef sirloin kabob, garlic yogurt, braised green bean & tomato basmati rice). Woah this was a lot of food, especially rice. I wasn't sure what the combination of green bean and tomato with rice would taste like, but turns out atleast in this case-pretty great. The sirloin was also cooked to perfection and the spice blend on it was so good. Always happy for more naan and the garlic yogurt dipping sauce was yum. I really enjoyed my dish and was glad I tried something I knew I would mispronounce, but probably would be good. My husband got the Lamb Shank (Persian lime, turmeric, dill & fava bean saffron basmati rice). Again, huge portions. The meat fell right off the bone at it should and had great flavor. I like that each basmati rice side was a prepared little different with various ingredients to go with the protein. He also ordered a Darjeeling Creme Brulee (darjeeling tea, cardamom, caramelized sugar) for dessert. I was so incredibly full, but still snagged a couple bites. I can't say I liked it more than a OG creme brûlée, but appreciated their Peruvian spin on this dessert. We had a waitress and an assistance waiter taking care of our table. All of the waitstaff was very personable and knowledgeable about the food on all questions we asked. Service was a little hit or miss at times as they were so incredibly busy. But, we just enjoyed each other's company and honestly having things a little spread out wasn't so bad. Also, they do valet parking at the location (as parking quite scarce). This is a bit of a foreign concept for us, but the process was very smooth. I think it cost like $2, plus whatever you tip. The line at the end of the night to get our car back moved very quickly. This was the second time I went (I didn't really enjoy my food the first time because I had the chicken kabob), but this time I had the Chinjeh Lubia Polo and I loved it so much--10/10! The meals are pretty expensive, but the portion sizes are really good and fill you up. I also tried the baklava, which was to die for. It was so flaky and sweet, and the ice cream paired so well with it! For dessert, it was $12 and very filling. I went on a Thursday night without a reservation, but I would recommend one because it was packed for dinner. The service was great, and the restaurant is beautiful. Hands-down my top picks in Atlanta! We've been to their Sandy Springs locations and Alpharetta location and both were amazing! As soon as you walk in, you'll notice the beautiful bar and open kitchen. I love how lively and it is and always know my food is served hot and fresh. The service is always welcoming and attentive. They do get busy so I recommend making a reservation. Appetizers: hummus and smoked eggplant (mirza ghasemi) are must-haves! They're my favorites in Atlanta! The eggplant has a great savory and smoky flavor and you'll devour it with the basket of pita bread. Entrees: my go-to everytime is the chilean sea bass. Super juicy and buttery with the perfect char. It's just heavenly. We've also tried the grilled shrimp, which again, love the char and the feta cream sauce, but a little overpriced in my opinion. Would also consider trying the chicken kabobs, very juicy and flavorful and reasonably priced and the lamb rack (they default it to medium-well, but my personal preference for lamb is well done so had to specifically ask for that). This place is fantastic!!! I've passed Rumi's several times and finally decided to give it a try last Saturday. There is valet parking so it's convenient to park (it was cheap, maybe like 2 or 3 bucks but definitely tip the valet guys!) When you step inside it's super busy but well organized and beautifully decorated. We had a reservation and were seated swiftly with quick attention from our waiter. Speaking of waiter, my waiter was Marcus (like Nieman), and he was FANTASTIC! Certainly a highlight of my visit, he was super attentive and gave great explanations on the dishes and provided recommendations when asked. Everything he said was spot on as everyone from our table ordered the dishes that were perfect for them. Our entire group of 4 adored Marcus and would ask for him personally if we go back. For food I ordered the eggplant appetizer Kashk Badnjn and the Baghali rice, everything I had was super tasty and well flavored. The complementary dishes with bread, herbs, radishes, walnuts, and cheese were lovely. All super fresh ingredients and they paired well with everything. Everything at Rumi's is simply perfect. The decor is absolutely beautiful and so high end. Even as the crowd grew throughout our meal the noise level never made it hard to have a conversation. The tables can be seated closely together, especially for the tables with a bench on one side. The service is fantastic and nears Michelin level. Staff is knowledgeable about the menu, service is fast without feeling rushed and everyone I interacted with was pleasant. They have a GREAT non-alcoholic drink menu. We had a Spritz n Giggles (NA Aperol Spritz) that was fantastic and had a great presentation. The chicken kabobs were fantastic and the rice was incredible. Additionally the potatoes were cooked uniquely with a harder outside but still perfectly soft inside and seasoned well. The portions are huge and you'll definitely be taking leftovers home! Rumi's is one of the best Persian spots in Atlanta and thankfully only 15 minutes away from where I live. The restaurant is pretty easy to find off Roswell road, but be aware that there is only $2 valet parking available. Usually, it's also always a good idea to have a reservation because it gets pretty packed most nights. Their entrees consist of various kebabs, vegetables, or grilled meat along with some sort of rice. My favorite one is the slotani kebab with two different types of meats and their amazing buttery saffron rice. The meats are always seasoned perfectly, and I love the flavor of the rice. It seems a bit expensive since it's around $25-$35 per plate, but you can definitely get a couple of meals in with just one plate. If you're in the area, I would highly recommend coming to rumi's to get your Persian fix in! read more

My family and I have been long time patrons. We were disappointed with our most recent visit. We originally had a reservation for 6, but ended up having to change to 5. We let the hostess know our party size had changed - big mistake. They tried to seat us at a tiny table for 2 people, in a corner, that would obstruct the walkway with the fifth person. Totally not an appropriate table for even 3 people. We requested a different table, or even our original table. They then tried to tell us we couldn't have our original table because they were going to give it to someone else. We finally got seated at an appropriate table. The service was fine. Nothing exceptional. My shish kabob was way overcooked. I requested medium rare, bordering on rare, and received well done. It is so incredibly loud, and I'm not sure if they're overbooking, but we watched several parties be seated at tables incredibly too small and in completely inconvenient places that obstruct walkways, and then requesting to have a different table like our experience. I'm going to give them a little leniency because this was after the holidays, and I'm sure we'll be back again, but definitely a disappointing experience. Hopefully next time is better. read more

My sister's grilled salmon, came in three fillets and it was so succulent and well cooked. The seasoning was lacking. I've never been a big fan of Rumi's -- it always seemed a bit overpriced for a pretty standard Persian/Iranian meal -- until now. I met some business contacts there, one of whom prides herself on her knowledge of Persian for. And you know what? She knew how o get a great meal: order 4-5 appetizers almost like a Lebanese mezze. I can't remember exactly what we had but it included hummus (of course), a terrific eggplant dip, and labneh. Persian labneh (strained yoghurt) is thicker and sweeter than Lebanese/Syrian labneh, and it was the star. The main courses were a disappointment after the terrific appetizers. Big pieces of grilled meat or salmon on huge amounts off rice. And not nearly as tasty. Next time, I think I will simply forget the main course and stick to the apps. read more

I decided to phone in the order to avoid this. They should really use toast which doesn't rip off customers to use their service. I had heard of Rumi's Kitchen but never had the chance to stop by until now. The interior was beautiful and I loved all the plants used as decor around the restaurant. We went at 8pm on a Sunday and it was very loud since it was packed so just be aware of that. We had to basically yell to hear each other and the waiter until about 8:30-9pm when most people were leaving. The appetizers were great! Rumi's Wings were an especially big hit at our table. They were perfectly seasoned and juicy! The classic hummus was also delicious with the bread that is complimentary. I got the Lamb Kabob and my husband ordered the Lamb Rack. The Lamb Rack was cooked perfectly but we agreed that it was similar enough to the Kabob that he could have gotten the same entree as me and not missed out on much. Our friends at the table all got different kabobs and really enjoyed those. We each got different kinds of rice as our side because we wanted to try each others. We both preferred the Dill and Fava bean rice but only because the other had a little too many raisins for our taste, but that's a personal preference I guess! Many of the appetizers sounded tasty so I think next time we'll order more of those like the falafel! Also the handmade sodas they offer were flavorful and refreshing.
