Enjoyed my early dinner at La Semilla today. This is a not so new plant based spot in Reynoldstown. It's elevated Latin vegan food and it hits the spot. Trust, you won't be missing a thing here. The menu is not too large - they do everything well without a ton of options. Also, they have a diverse cocktails, mocktails and wine selection. No Sangria though - at least that's what our server said. I got a Rose instead and my friend had their Passiflora. For dinner, we started with the chips and queso and fried green tomatoes. The tomatoes had a great flavor and topped with grape tomatoes, basil and a sauce. It was delightful. Our entree's were the Cuburrito - their vegan buritto stuffed with rice, beans, maduros, avocado, carmelized onion & vegan picadillo. I'd add some hot sauce but otherwise it's amazing. The atmosphere is on theme - there's an island hut booth, outdoor dining and plenty of art, plants and music playing. The restrooms are unisex and on theme as well. Before traveling to Atlanta, La Semilla kept popping up in my research. It caught my attention because of the Latin focused plant based menu, so we were excited to try it. And it was great! My favorite was the appetizer, which I can't remember the name of. The lion's mane was good, nothing crazy but still good, and the dessert was amazing, a peach empanada with ice cream, so yummy. Wow is the only word I can use to start this review! My partner found this spot while we were visiting as we love trying plant based meals in new cities. Visiting from Miami, the Latin food standard is high and this was perfection. The restaurant has great decor, staff is really friendly, and the menu is super ample and diverse. We ordered the take on ham croquetas and they were so delicious. Melt in your mouth, explosion of flavor delicious. We also ordered their salad which came with a vegan feta and that was so good and fresh. For the entree we shared the cubarrito and it was delicious. Really generous portion. I will say food is a little pricey but worth the flavor and ambiance. Unfortunately we didn't get to try dessert as the kitchen closed but it seemed delicious. La Semilla is a chic, pan-Latin vegan spot. The menu emphasizes replicating non-vegan flavors and taste profiles more than it leans in to offerings that are already vegetable forward. For example, guacamole is conspicuously absent from the menu. In its place, you'll find a creamy (still vegan) Queso Blanco. That's a bold choice, but the dupe delivers. My favorite taste dupe, however, is the crunch wrap. It is spot on. It tastes identical to the much more famous, much less vegan version. read more

Atlanta is so blessed to have a restaurant like this in its ranks now. If I could give more than 5 stars on this app, I'd be lighting it up! I went on a holiday, which was super busy, but even so, service was prompt and attentive. I ordered a pasaflora to drink, which had a beautiful flower in it, queso blanco with chips, al pastor mushroom tacos, chochoyotes, and flan for dessert. Every single dish was inspired, layered with flavor, creative, and truly unique. The presentation was also lovely and each bite felt thoughtful and well-executed. I would order everything a million times over! One thing that especially stood out was the flan's texture, which was silky, delicate, and perfectly balanced. I was also pleasantly surprised to see fried green tomatoes on the menu. It felt like such a special nod to the restaurant's Southern location, blending regional influence in a really cool way. The owner was super nice, which made the experience even better. The decor is gorgeous and so inviting, with intimate, cozy lighting. The whole space feels clean, artistic, and thoughtfully designed. This is an amazing date-night spot that I truly hope sticks around for a long, loooong time. Everything about the atmosphere and experience makes it perfect for a special evening out. This place is so cuteeeee, it was my first time here and I didn't get to try everything but I loved the yuca fries, they're so gooooood and very shareable. We found La Semilla on google maps as a highly rated dinner place, and we decided to try it out. We were greeted and seated immediately upon arrival, and our server brought us water almost immediately as well. We put in our orders quickly since they were closing earlier than expected-- the kitchen's HVAC system was down, but that didn't stop them from caring for us! :) We also got the food in a seemingly record breaking time. The beans were a tiny bit too spicy for me, although I'm sensitive to spice. My boyfriend enjoyed them very much. The lemon that came with the beans was so incredibly juicy?! It was so fresh. My Crunch Wrap's flavor was awesome, and the sauces were fantastic (although be aware for those with nut allergies, there are cashews in a lot of the sauces). I put some more chips in the crunch wrap for an extra crunch. The Cubarrito was . I wish there was a little more pico in it though. The Cubarrito was my personal highlight of the evening!! The texture... the flavor... all of it really hit the spot. Overall, this was a great find. I'm personally always open to trying something new. Don't know why it took me this long to try this place but it was so worth the wait! This restaurant is all plant-based, but their cocktails are also top notch. I did make a reservation and would recommend. We got there 15 mins early but were seated right away. We ordered their agua Fresca of the day (peach) and juarez (pretty much like an old fashioned with mezcal). For food, we ordered the fried mushrooms (my personal fave - the cracked black pepper elevated this dish for me), Crunchwrap (their most popular food item and tasted just like the real thing), cubano (another one of my faves, the pickles were so good and the melted cheese!!!) and chochoyote (very very rich dish but super comforting). Overall, we loved everything we had. Service was good. We were so full by the end of our meal and skipped dessert. We will definitely come back for more! I get vegan / vegetarian meals are normally above average and provide a unique value point for individuals who do not eat meat. But from an ingredient standpoint, $8 for a side of fried plantain? The food selection is small, but the execution of each dish is top notch. The carne asada tacos aren't just great vegan tacos, they're great tacos. The Cuban is perfectly crisp and juicy. The chips are excellent, and the "cheese" is wonderful to dip them into. Even the cocktails are well balanced and worth an outing in their own. Staff is beyond friendly and very helpful. Went with my wife and daughter and fiancé - between us there is tree nut allergy, gluten allergy, alpha gal syndrome (not a problem here) and dairy sensitivity. Yep - barrel of fun this group.... Anyway - the staff was very helpful to navigate the menu and we all had very good food. Orders included the mushrooms and grits , the tacos, "crunchy" handheld and the queso dip. All were excellent. Once again, someone opened a full plant based restaurant and did it perfectly. It's amazing to me how many plant based restaurants open around the country and they are some of the best meals you can get, as long as you have an open mind. Remember - or understand for the first time - I am someone who spent 10+ years posting on Facebook about my love of bacon. If I'm praising this restaurant, it means something. If you don't know me, I am a flexitarian. I eat plenty of meat, but my wife is vegetarian so I also eat a good amount of plant based meals. This was a Mexican/latin plant based location. It's very cute inside with plenty of space and lots of natural light. We sat at the bar and while the bartenders were a bit slow, they were also busy. We each ordered a cocktail-I got their Juarez, which is a bourbon and mezcal drink that was superb. It used mole bitters-and as someone who generally dislikes mole-I was amazed at how good this was. I don't remember my wife's drink but it was interesting and complex and really good. We started with their nachos, which is their special on Thursday. They could have used about 50 fewer jalapeños, but absent that, the nachos were delicious. My wife got their Cuban and I got a chocho...something. I forget the full name, but it was essentially dumplings made from masa, which made them gluten free. It doesn't matter what else was in this dish but it was basically chicken and dumplings minus the chicken. This was SO good. I had my wife try one of the dumplings and was sad that I had one less dumpling. It was crazy good. I couldn't try my wife's Cuban since it wasn't gluten free but not only did she love it, it knocked off her previous favorite vegan Cuban (from Bodega in Saint Pete, FL). That's high praise. I did get just a mezcal as my second drink, which was excellent (their mezcal menu is wonderful) and my wife's second drink - the World - was very good but since horchata was the primary ingredient, it was also very desserty. La Semilla located in Reynoldstown and serving up plant based Latin food. There is parking in a garage and the restaurant validates parking so make sure you bring your ticket inside. Reservations are recommended however you may be able to grab a seat at the bar on a slow night. I love the décor and aesthetics but I'm not a fan of the grade school chairs, they are very uncomfortable. I keep returning to this spot for the amazing dishes. I've tried almost everything on the menu so I was pretty excited when I came this week and was able to try a new dish. The fried mushrooms in a green mole sauce are FIRE, you receive this yummy mole and 5 lions main fried mushrooms for $17. It's under the appetizer menu but I could definitely enjoy this as a main entrée. SO GOOD!! I also had my favorite salsa in the city, Sikil Pak $7, I really want to bottle this up in a jar and eat it at least three times a week. It's the perfect balance of savory and spiciness. I ended up ordering the Cubano $17 for my entrée but was craving the crunch wrap but you can't go wrong with the Cubano. This was so much food I had to take the Cubano to go. No worries, heat this up in the air fryer and it's still so good, this is probably one of the few jackfruit dishes that I enjoy. Overall another great experience at this Latin restaurant. read more

Crazy that I'm just now reviewing La Semilla after I've been probably five times. I love that this place has nostalgic (dare I say "low brow") options like a Crunchwrap supreme. It takes me back to my high school days of eating Taco Bell at 3am. Now though, I'm sitting in a modern Cuban spot where everything is made from wholesome ingredients. Honestly my favorite thing here is probably the nachos with the "meat" crumbles added. Every texture and flavor profile is covered. These never miss and it's a large portion IMO so perfect for sharing with a friend. So not only can they do that, but they can do more elevated dishes as well. I've had the enmoladas and thoroughly enjoyed them. A few nights ago I got to try the lion's mane wings served over like a gravy. Oh my goodness, this dish was near perfection. The gravy might've had a touch too much salt, but other than that, no notes. The mushrooms had a thin, crispy coating and I love that it wasn't oyster mushrooms for once (which tend to have that oceanic taste to them). I got the local peach, lavender and hibiscus kombucha and a special cocktail they had for the evening (their take on a bees knees). Both were delicious and refreshing for a humid summer Friday night. We started with the Sikil Pak , delicious, I nearly licked the bowl. More creamy than what I've had before, in a good way. My husband "had to order" the crunch wrap and he said it was very good. I ordered the chochoyotes, which is typically "for the table" . I'm a corn fanatic & had to try it! The fluffy little masa dumplings were spectacular & surprisingly light. Absolutely loved it! A much hyped place, which deserved it. This is a vegan restaurant, billed as being Cuban though the dishes seem broadly Latin American to me. I purposefully did not eat much before coming so I could indulge, and thus when I was recommended to try a dish I'd never heard of, I took the chance. And indeed, that's precisely the sort of reason you'd want to come here; the chochoyotes, which are corn-based dumplings, apparently exist in a variety of non-vegetarian forms, but the one here was promised to me as a "flavor bomb" and lived up to that billing, with some combination of coconut, pumpkin seeds, something spicy, and a variety of flavors I struggled to place. A house salad wasn't overly complex, but was large, delivered a ton of avocado but also some nut-based substitute for queso fresco that was quite satisfying; non-dairy cheese is not easy but it can be done well. A fruity agua fresca was a wise decision and the tropical atmosphere was appropriate. I was glad I finally found an off day when I was in Atlanta because at peak times the reservations fill. CONS: My only complaint is that they tack on service fees when you order online which includes gratuity that is the equivalent of ordering another entree!! In addition, they don't bring the food out. We were there on a Saturday night, and many folks were dressed to the nines (we were dressed to the fives but didn't feel out of place). We enjoyed every dish we got.
