I am not exaggerating when I say this was some of the best food I've ever had, and it's ENTIRELY plant-based. The ambiance when you walk in is bright and floral, with good vibes playing over their speakers. The staff is extremely friendly and will thoroughly explain the menu, while recommending some of their personal favorites. For the appetizer we had the queso blanco, which was made out of cashews and potatoes. Crazy thing is this may be the best queso I've ever had and it isn't even cheese. I also had vegetable mole wraps and those were also great. Everything that we tried is flavorful and you can't even tell that it's completely vegan. Lastly the drinks were top tier. La Semilla is all vegan, and I was impressed after dining here. From the decor to the food, everything is done with taste. Great for a date night or small group dinner. You can also dine at the bar. I love that they focus on 'real food' vs the 'fake meats' that are produced for protein. After much debate on what to order, I enlisted in the help of my server who was knowledgeable and friendly. I ordered the enamoladas con verdura, which is a corn tortilla with vegetables, mole poblano, refried beans, blue corn aioli. A little spicy but so good! This was filling for one person. Save room for the guava flan! This was outstanding!! So delicate and creamy. I really took my time to savor each bite. Excellent! Very loud, hip and trendy spot that was completely full when we got there. The architecture causes the sound to bounce off the walls along with the chattering yuppies. It was so hard to hear our server who was so wonderful and friendly. Our food came out so fast, we were in and out in around 30 minutes. Just a fun date spot, but don't expect something intimate. I'm absolutely a meat eater, but you won't miss it or notice. The food is so good, fun, and well executed. A vegan crunch wrap, how fun! The least eye appealing dish was the croquettes while the most eye appealing, the lions mane cover girl food girl-eque food was our least favorite. Took around 30 minutes to get seated despite being on time for our reservation on Saturday night. Really good high end vegan food with in-house "meats." The nachos are delicious and a definite must order. If you're a fan of butternut squash I'd definitely go for the empanadas as well. Such an amazing experience, I made sure to extend my visit for as long as possible to enjoy all the perils of plant-based Latin cuisine. Ugh, so good! The Bistec De Palomilla is definitely one of the top 10 dishes that I've eaten in my life. Yes, in my life! It's lion's mane steaks over yuca mash with mojo sauce. Amazing! Though I am not a vegetarian, I enjoy a good meatless meal as much as the next person at times so was eager to try La Semilla. This restaurant is very inviting with the lights, plant murals, and greenery within. They also have seating in an outdoor patio area. They were busy when we got there but we got lucky and were able to get seated at a table almost immediately. We ordered some Squash Empanadas, Esquites, Yuca Con Queso, Crunch Wrap, and Cubarrito to eat. For drinks I got the Oaxacan Mai Tai, The Wheel, and the Yayo cocktails. For dessert we ordered the Frituras de Calabaza. Let me tell you something, let me tell you something! EVERYTHING we ate was full of so much flavor! I have to admit they did a great job making all the dishes so tasty and I did not once miss having an actual meat component. All of the cocktails were delicious too except for the Yayo, in my opinion, as I felt it fell flat and did not have as much depth as the other cocktails. Our server was amazing though I wish I remembered her name (it might have been Brooke but I feel bad I cannot recall for sure). Minus one star because it took an extremely long time to get our entreés and the cocktails. We had an absolutely amazing experience at La Semilla! First of all, parking was easy and straightforward-- there's a retail parking deck behind the restaurant and they validate for 2 hours! We showed up on a Wednesday evening to see if it would be possible to get a table for 8- we didn't have a reservation, but the staff was incredibly helpful and we were able to be seated since it wasn't too busy. The inside of the restaurant is really beautifully decorated, with a nice ambiance. There was a dj station near our table playing fun music, but the volume was perfect and we could still easily have conversations at the table. We shared a few plates between the table-- the yucca fries, enmoladas, and fried mushrooms. The fries and the mushrooms were perfectly salted and crispy. For the entree, I chose the Crunchwrap, which was exceptional-- golden brown, flavorful, and perfectly spicy if you dipped it in the sauce provided! A friend and I went to La Semilla as part of my birthday celebration this year and I'm glad we went. Upon arrival, I was able to easily find the restaurant as it is right on Memorial Drive. And right past the restaurant (on its right) is the entry to the Modera apartments. Here you will find paid retail parking which isn't expensive. As soon as I walked into the restaurant, I was immediately greeted and seated. And probably 5 minutes after being seated, our waiter Stephen came over to ask if we wanted water. Talk about service! Next, I ordered the Blvd to Memorial cocktail. When I asked the waiter about my cocktail to make sure it wasn't too sweet. He immediately responded saying he didn't prefer sweet drinks either and that the drink was similar to an old fashion. He also said I wouldn't be disappointed. And I was not! Next for my food, I ordered the Yuca con Queso appetizer and Carne Asada Tacos. Both of the items were delicious!!!! You couldn't tell me these foods were vegan. Absolutely flavorful! Lastly for the dessert, we asked which one was better but we ended up ordering both to try. The plantains dessert was good but not as good as the "extraordinary" frituras de calabaza (like fritters). The waiter talked up the second dessert so much and we completely agree at how great the frituras were. Now for the design. The restaurant was decorated nicely. Great mood lighting and great touches throughout. There was a bar for quick seating and a cute tiki table for a larger party. Also they had a nice outdoor seating area as well. This past weekend I was in Atlanta. I chose this restaurant for my first dinner in town and I was not disappointed. The vibe was trendy yet unassuming. It's located in a very vibrant and bustling area. Although the restaurant was pretty packed, the food came out decently paced. The pricing was normal for that level of restaurant; I didn't find it too expensive but it wasn't cheap either. I could definitely see myself living nearby, so I could frequent here often. I brought my husband with and didn't tell him it was a fully vegan/plant-based restaurant, so when the server mentioned it, he pouted a little... that is until he tried our first food choice, which was a queso blanco. we both felt it was the best one we've had. My only qualm was the chips were a bit thick for me. This one was so good and I was so hungry totally forgot to snap a photo. The second item we tried was a sweet potato empanada with mole. I really enjoyed this one, but my husband thought it was a little dry. Next we had street tacos: We got the el pastor and carne asada, while both were really good, we agreed carne asada was the better of the two. Next we had desserts. We got pumpkin fritters and (guava?) flan. Both were really good and the flan was beautifully presented. I had never had one before, so the texture was interesting to me. My husband had had one before and he said the texture was spot on, but he's not much of a flan person; although he agreed it had yummy flavor. The fritters however,were so very tasty that we were "fighting" over who was gonna have the last one (we chose to split it). La Semilla has been on my list for a long time now and it DID NOT MISS!! Definitely make sure to get a reservation ahead of time because they are always packed. Located in Reynoldstown, it's tucked away in a corner so you have to search for it a little but it's very cute and vibey once you head inside. We also loved that they validate parking at the Modera garage around the corner so make sure to bring your ticket! Inside, the decor is so aesthetic and tropical and just fun!! The service was fantastic - we called ahead to change our reservation which they were super accommodating about and when we arrived they made sure to walk us through the plant based process in their dishes! They have an extensive drinks menu which was awesome. I had the oye chicha which is a pisco and chicha morada based drink (both are Peruvian drinks which I absolutely love)! It was so delicious and the presentation was absolutely beautiful. My friends also tried the fever in the funk house (super gin forward drink) and the mojito, both of which were tasty as well. We ordered the chochoyotes and squash empanada for appetizers. The chochoyotes sauce was SO DANG GOOD. Literally scraping it up to finish. The squash empanada was super toasty when it arrived and also oversized which made it great for splitting. For mains, I split a cuban and crunch wrap with one of my friends, and our table also tried the nachos (available if you arrive after 9!) and the salad. The nachos were LOADED (bang for your buck) and the salad was beautiful and refreshing. The crunch wrap was delicious and the meat substitute was so good. The Cuban however was my absolute favorite!! Finally! After many weeks we successfully were able to come here. You have to make reservations!!!!!! Let me start with that the entire wait staff here is incredibly nice. I called at 6 to delay my reservation 30 minutes and they had no issues with it which was awesome!!! Then we ran a little late with traffic and they were also so nice about it. Can't say better things about that service!!! We arrived and were sat quickly. Our waitress gave us a great overview of the menu and we started with some drinks. I got the semilla mojito which was delicious and refreshing. For apps, we got the squash empanada and chocoyotes. The chochoyoyes were delicious and soft and had a delicious sauce paired with them. The empanada was also great but definitely on the spicer side! For my main, I split the Crunchwrap and the Cuban with my friends and they are both excellent. All food was super fresh and hot! I never leave negative reviews, but the way this restaurant handled a serious food allergy incident is beyond disappointing. The person I was with has a severe allergy, and I made sure to inform the server when we arrived. Despite this, they served a dish containing the allergen. The kitchen manager later admitted the ticket didn't have any allergy note - a basic and non-negotiable practice for food safety. As a result, the person I was with had a severe reaction, and we ended up in the hospital. What followed only made the situation worse. Instead of taking responsibility, the restaurant left us waiting for over a month with no resolution. wasn't even immediately offered a refund for the meal, despite contacting them that same night from the hospital. As someone who's worked in the food industry, I've seen bills get covered or refunded for far less. I was told to wait for the owner to reach out but was never given his direct contact information. When Reid, the owner, finally did respond, there was no apology, no accountability, and no acknowledgment of the severity of the incident. Reid claimed he had tried calling my number several times from the restaurant's phone -- but I never received a single call from that number. He also said the manager I was speaking with had provided his contact info, but she told me directly that she wasn't allowed to share it. His response felt dismissive, antagonistic and lacked any sense of urgency or responsibility for a situation that could have ended far worse. If you have allergies, do not dine here. The lack of basic food safety and the owner's dismissive response is inexcusable. In fact, anyone who expects responsible customer service, accountability and respect should avoid La Semilla. Based on how they handled our experience, I cannot recommend this place and will never return. ***UPDATE*** Rather than responding to my review directly, the restaurant's team chose to involve lawyers in what seemed like an attempt to remove it. It's disturbing to see a business respond to criticism not with accountability, but with threats behind closed doors. I stand by every word of my review. Jackfruit empanada: while $9 is steep for a single empanada, I'm glad we tried it. The jackfruit was well seasoned and cooked. There was a bit of a sweetness to it that was okay. Enmoladas: we likened these to enchiladas. They were extremely well prepared. There were a variety of flavors on that plate. It was mole forward, but not too much. I probably wouldn't get this again, but I appreciate the quality of the dish. It was a big enough portion size to be a main dish. Bistec: this was the star!!! Wow! It's a challenge to find lions mane mushrooms in the first place, but then when they cook it like that?!? Stop it. Both of the non vegans at the table said it would satisfy their meat cravings any day. It had a fatty feeling when you ate it, which is crazy because it's not a fatty food (we compared it to roasted pork). The flavors in that were incredible-- I'm truly amazed. The yuca purée and butter under the mushrooms just added to the decadence of the dish. It's big enough to fill you up (especially if you also have an appetizer). I will likely not be able to stop myself from ordering this every time I go. a minute ago New Officially one of my favorite restaurants. This place has been on my list for a while and we finally went. I'm vegan and my partner isn't but we both LOVED this place. All of the staff are not only friendly and attentive but also just very chill and personable. Good vibes. We got the croquettas de jamon (don't expect them to taste ham-y but they are very very good - squeeze some lime over them and it takes it to an entirely different level), the queso blanco (one of the best vegan quesos i have had. It doesn't taste 100% like non-vegan queso but it was close and it was super good), the cubano (bruh - insane. It is made with jackfruit and seitan which are two of my least favorite meat substitutes but you wouldn't be able to tell. My nonvegan partner who is very particular when it comes to vegan meats said it tasted like it wasn't vegan meat at all - it was BOMB), the crunchwrap (not pictured but trust me when I say it tastes better than it looks. It looked underwhelming to us but then we tried it and its actual super good and the sour cream is done sooooo well), the bistec de palomilla (I. N. S. A. N. E. The flavors were balanced so incredibly well, each component was done perfectly and having it all together makes the perfect bite. We were very very impressed), and the apple empanada (way too much rosemary. Loved the concept tho. I think it would have been great if there wasn't so much rosemary - not sure if it was accidentally overdone that night or if thats how it always is. While I am not that guy this restaurant is worthy of that level of promotion. This true oasis of food delivers on every front. Impecable service that is fluid and attentive in a wonderfully low key setting. We ordered about half the menu and not one item disappointed. Even on an all star menu selection some items did stand out but only because of my personal taste preferences. The waitress expressed some personal concerns about our ability to finish all the food we ordered, as she cleared the last empty plate , avoiding her hand from getting bitten, worry turned to our ability to get out of the chairs at the end of the meal. This may offend some people here in Atlanta and guess what, I am not sorry! What this restaurant does with food is rare in the ATL. It provides complex layered food with ingredients that are actually tasted. Often I find food to be over complicated, with chefs trying to make food sound good on the menus with unneeded ingredients that never make an appearance on you taste buds. Food being labeled as flavorful that is little more than sugar and fat in amounts you would never use at home so it gets called words like "tasty" rather than "terrible". What I experienced here had my tastebuds giving out high fives like they were at a college frat who's football team just scored. Well balanced food with different notes and surprising flavors making appearances in my mouth at unexpected but wonderfully choreographed moments. Don't forget to try an expertly crafted cocktail from a menu that received just as much development as any of their food items and get the desert that has the word "calabaza" in it. I am an omnivore who happens to be Cuban and I admit, I was skeptical about a vegan restaurant serving some traditional Cuban and Latin flavors. I treated my friend who is vegan for a birthday and wow was I impressed! The food has such flavor and the service was very attentive. The vice was very chill. --Parking-- FREE for two (2) hours in the Modera parking lot, they will validate you on the way out, so make sure to bring your parking ticket. --Ambience-- Located along a complex of stores in Cabbagetown, La Semilla is a tucked away enclave of vegan food beautifully decorated in pastel pink and greens. With a tropical vibe, there is plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors (with string lights of course!). Music is phenomenal. I hope they host some dance nights and live music in the future. --Appetizer-- (9$) We got a squash empanada to share (note- it is just ONE). It's fairly large, so it's a great to share tapa. It was delicious! Coated in some sauces, the inner stuffing was really complemented by the flavors of the outside. --Drinks-- (13$ each) 1. Oye Chicha- Ok this drink was awesome! It is also one of their most popular drinks. Normally foam on a drink is made with egg whites, but they somehow made this foam taste even better than that! It was not too sweet, and I would 100% order again. 2. Smoky Rose (non alcoholic) Real quick- this drink will be my go to moving forward. Such a great option, sweet and tasty! They have one more mocktail on their menu which we will definitely try. --Entrees-- 1. Cubano (16$) I have always wanted to have a meaty Cuban sandwich, however, that's usually not a thing. I've had veggie Cuban sandwiches in the past, but this was an amazing innovation of La Semilla. They used jackfruit and seitan ham for the meats, and the vegan cheese, and the sauce truly made this sandwich incredibly flavorful. Each bite was filling and this is definitely enough for one person, but it comes in two halves, so I recommend sharing. definitely a bit pricey, but well worth it. 2. Bistec de Palomilla (20$) OK I'll be honest I've never had steak before, so I can't compare this dish to anything that someone may have had in the past. However, this was a very uniquely profiled dish with lions mane mushroom that was prepared very well. The mushroom was juicy and yet remained crispy with a skin like texture on the outside. It rested upon a layer of a soft yuca mash. The creaminess of the mash, and the texture of the mushroom provided a great balance for this dish. Not sure if I would order this again, solely because of the price point, and instead opt to try many of their other dishes. --Dessert-- Plantano Split (9$). I kind of don't want to describe this because I don't want to spoil it. If you like plantains, ice cream, and banana splits- you'll love this dish! --Service-- Owen was our server and he was AWESOME! He was super friendly, described things to us in detail, and brought everything out and checked on how we liked it (so sweet)! Will 100% ask for him when we return! read more

Everything about this experience was amazing. I can't believe they've only been open for a few weeks, everything was very polished and put together. First - the food was amazing. We had the queso, street corn, cubano, burrito, and both desserts. Would highly recommend them all! The burrito was our least favorite, but that's kind of like picking your least favorite child - you love them all. Second - the drinks were equally amazing. Very inventive cocktails, perfectly matched with the meal and ambiance. Third - the service was on point the whole night. I would definitely go back again and again and again. As a meat eater, this place was great and a good introduction to vegetarian cuisine. Very great service and ambiance too.

I went back again to give the food another try! Pumpkin Salsa - 3/5, good flavor but texture was watery and the salsa had separated. Chips were excellent, thick and super crunchy. Fried mushroom app - 2/5, small portion (maybe 5 fried mushrooms?) upward of $20. They were just okay. Skip this. Mushroom Oyster Scallop Special- 4/5, flavor and texture was incredible! Just like a scallop. Very expensive, again, $25 for six small seared mushrooms. Apple empeñada with ice cream- 1/5, this might have been the most disappointing! So, so small, not big enough to split. Ice cream was icey and bland, empeñada shell was too thick so it overwhelmed the dish and the apple filling was suffocated by it. Fried sweet potato balls- 5/5, AMAZING!! The best bite of the night. So flavorful and sitting in a burnt sugar sauce. Wow. Overall, I think this isn't the place for me! I'm happy I gave it another shot, but there is much better vegan food in Atlanta and this place is very pricey for what it's offering. read more
