Came here to try the food before they close permanently on Jan.31st. I was able to grab a seat at the bar after waiting about 20mins. I ordered the scallops with collards and grits. Everything was delicious. Sad to see them go.

This is the last time we'll be able to enjoy Agave but everything was wonderful! The swordfish special with mashed potato and broccolini. The garlic spinach was so tasty. Shrimp egg rolls, street corn and cesar salad! Everything was so tasty! I had a very well mixed old fashion. I hope the owners will find a way to open a new place/concept and continue the wonderful service, atmosphere and food that we've grown to love!!!

I love the spot. I am so disappointed it's going to close soon so I went back and visited it. This time I tried the mussels and the tuna tartar and both are excellent dishes. Do check it out before they close for Good.

I've been to this restaurant a couple of years ago it's been a minute. I live in the area not to far from here now maybe like 15 minutes so I had to go back here and try something I didn't have before from here. First time I visited I got the Cayenne chicken with the mashed potatoes. It's vallet parking here and the food is delicious and it's a bar for those who want to drink. I got the shrimp rolls and a fried lobster tail and street corn and I received the complentary chips with salsa. I also got the chef's strawberry cheesecake and I tried the chocolate mousse for dessert. I ate some food for dinner and I saved the rest for breakfast on 1-2-2026. Pull up and check them out. Sadly they are closing on 1-31-2026.

Agave was a lovely surprise. My friends and I popped in on a Friday night, 30 min before they closed. I was nervous that the food wouldn't be good or they would rush us but my experience was the complete opposite. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. I ordered the crawfish pasta and OMG it was so good! I also gave the bartender full creative control on crafting a mocktail and she did not disappoint. I will definitely go back to check out additional menu items.

I've been coming here for 25 years on and off and recently started back. The restaurant was slammed and Justin did a great job putting up with us! Everything was 10/10. Solid authentic restaurant with amazing margaritas. Sad to see them go!

The restaurant was great. The ambiance was fun and romantic. The food was good. I had the chicken soup and the gulf shrimp. The service was top notch. I came in with some friends. It was the restaurant 25th anniversary.

It's been once three years since I've been in Georgia. I have always wanted to try this place. Never thought I could afford it. Today I had dinner with one of my friends from my neighborhood and it was a lovely experience. Let's start with complementary valet and a warm welcome when I walked in. There are three cool rooms in this establishment one with the Bar and two other ones to Jason for dining. We were in the flat room which was nice and cozy. The atmosphere was lively and everyone seems to be out. All the plates came out quick and the food looks amazing. I ordered the Caesar salad that I've been craving and haven't found a good one yet for now and the quesadilla. The Dino sitting suggested the blunt orange margarita Which sounded delicious, but it lacked luster. Very watery and barely taste it like a margarita. I should've stuck with my traditional margarita or just a couple shots tequila instead. All the food was yummy ! Our servers name I can't remember maybe her name is Brianna ? She was amazing. Food came out fast. The quesadillas for room temperature, but yet delicious. The homemade hot sauce was Tasty not very hot at all. An overall great experience !! Next time I will definitely try that fried chicken. It looks amazing. I just wasn't hungry enough!

Agave Restaurant is located in Cabbage Town at 242 Blvd SE Atlanta, GA 30312 This is a family owner established. On 7/6/2024 Health Score is 89 = B Our servers were Anderson and Helena they both were very, very, very welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. We ordered the Watermelon Margarita, the Enchiladas and the Rio Grande Burrito. The food was seasoned well and so delicious. The presentation was also very nice. The restaurant ambiance was a little dark for me. But the overall vibe offered music piping through the speakers and a cozy feeling. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my family and friends. It's was the Rio Grande Burrito for me.

The hidden gem of cabbagetown! I really should make a weekly reservation at this point. The food is so ridiculously good. Chips and salsa come but don't fill up... save room for dinner. The enchiladas are the same price as a burrito at any local chain... so it's a no brainer for us! And service is always so friendly. And personal. You leave feeling like family. The outside front is great for a cocktail (car and people watching). i wish they'd have dinner service on those patio tables!!! Oh and the spicy pb pie isn't overly spicy and a great dessert selection!

Dinner with friends for a birthday and it's a Saturday night. Luckily we have a reservation and we are sat right away! Chips and salsa to start and I enjoyed my Peachtree Margarita! There were 9 of us and our server, James, took care of us well! Ask for him! Almost all of us got the Medallions - but all a little different! It was quite tasty and those onion rings - those alone should be a side or an app, YUM! We also got the dessert sampler (we were celebrating a birthday after all)! And it was so good! I would take the strawberry compote from the cheesecake and put it on the peanut butter pie - DEEEEELICIOUS! Highly recommend!

4.7/5 Food: Came here for a friend's bday dinner, everyone ordered a margarita and they were delicious and strong. The Diablo crawfish pasta was very tasty but it was kind of strong on the mushrooms (beware if you don't like them). The crab cakes were pretty good, they had a lot of crab and were nice and moist. My friend really enjoyed the scallops, especially the greens that come with the meal. Lastly, my other friend who had the chicken enjoyed the meal a lot. She described it as a deconstructed KFC bowl but with more flavor lol. Service: Our waiter was very nice and patient and the food came out very quickly. There were a few moments where we needed him but he was no where to be found. Not a complete ruin of the experience tho, his personality made up for it lol. Ambience: Very cozy inside and they are able to accommodate fairly large parties. They have street parking and valet parking, but the lot is pretty limited from what I could see.

Agave Restaurant Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Agave Restaurant

Hi! Is takeout available this weekend?

Sorry, no. We have decided to solely focus on the sold out restaurant as our small kitchen can’t handle both in the final two days.

I forgot to book a reservation? Do we HAVE to have one for a party of 4? Hoping to get in once more before they close.

Yes Ma’am. Agave is sold out until the first week of January. Thanks so much!

    Can I tap to pay?

Yes, at the terminal with a server. Thanks so much!

    What's the dress code like?

    Casual

    Is outside seating available?

No. There's "patio" dining, but it's still indoors with open air ceilings around its walls borders. This area is very cool, because of the open air wall borders, and above head ceiling fans. It's really nice. It feels like an adobe.

Can they accommodate a party of 20?

This isn't a very roomy restaurant. Most of the seating spaces are rather close/tight. If I took a guess, I would say probably not comfortably.

Is there a Happy Hour here?

Yes, at the bar - which had limited seating.

I'm taking my girlfriend for her birthday is it better to sit outside or upstairs?

Depends on if it's you and her , if it is upstairs will be kool but I also like the patio as well.

We were there celebrating our engagement, and they made it feel so special by decorating our table with rings and confetti to celebrate our love. Our server gave us so much attention and made the experience feel personal. Since it was our first time there, they took the time to walk us through some of the best items on and off the menu, and shared their favorite dishes. Everything was done with care. The restaurant was clean, the bathroom was amazing, and the food was worth every dollar. The short rib was so tender, and the New York strip was seasoned to perfection and cooked medium well just how we like it. The twice-baked potato loaded with bacon, sour cream, chives, and cheese was delicious, and the mac and cheese was so good. I also appreciated that they allowed me to order it without the roasted saltine crackers. I can't wait to visit again!

Bones has old money vibes - for example, the receptionist referred to us as Mr. and Ms. which I felt like was very polite and again, traditional. We were celebrating my birthday, and they pre-decorated our table a little bit! We got special print-out menus that said "Happy Birthday" and the table had a little bit of confetti on it! It was a nice gesture to be welcomed with. Our server, Michael, was great at being attentive (without being overly attentive), and providing recs/answering our questions. We went with the Crab and Lobster Napoleon for our app, the Ribeye to split, and a side of their famous Hash Browns. Everything was very good!! I will let the pictures speak for themselves, but all the food comes out hot, fresh, and with good flavor. I really do recommend getting the Hash Browns - it sounds a little silly to order such a dish at a steakhouse, but try it for yourself :) All dishes have a good portion size so keep that in mind when ordering! While not pictured, I do have to give a shoutout to the complimentary bread service - their bread is real good. Hot and fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside. Try not to get full off the bread alone. For dessert, Bones surprised us with literally the tallest and thickest slice of ice cream cake I've ever seen! My jaw dropped. I love ice cream cake and it was awesome to be treated to some!! I already thought that the table decorations and the special menu were enough to recognize my birthday, but this is the generosity of Bones. I will absolutely be returning some day! If not for the amazing food, then for the equally amazing hospitality! Thank you Bones for a wonderful birthday! Note: Complimentary valet parking ONLY. We asked the valet person if we could just park the car but we weren't allowed to. Bring some cash for a tip.

Definitely a place to be seen and eat well. There's a parking garage but it was full when we got there, so we did valet, which was surprisingly affordable. Service was wonderful. Our server was attentive, helpful, and super knowledgeable about the menu. As for the food, we got: Aguachile de Pescado, which was insane. Super fresh, bright, citrusy, ceviche-like with perfect texture. I would go back just for that. The Hamachi was clean and bright. That avocado sauce tied everything together and gave it some depth without overpowering the fish. The Pork Belly Tostadas were crispy and rich with that smooth avocado mousse and sweet mango salsa balancing it out perfectly. Finally, the bone marrow with steak... so good. I had seen pictures of it before I came and it did not disappoint. The steak was incredibly tender. They bring blue corn tortillas and suggest making a taco with the marrow, steak, and avocado. It's great that way. But honestly, the marrow and steak stand perfectly on their own. Whole experience was excellent. Easily one of my favorite spots in the city now.

Wanted to love it…read more The vibes are there, the staff is genuinely lovely, and there's real potential here, we just had a bit of an adventure getting through the meal. We had someone in our party with a gluten allergy, and our sweet server was doing his absolute best, bless. We were steered away from the tostadas as a starter due to gluten concerns, so we pivoted to guac...which then arrived with a gluten-free tostada. So the tostadas would have been totally fine! Then a good while after we'd all ordered, she was told her entrée had gluten and needed to be changed. She reordered, and almost immediately, the rest of the table's food came out. So we were left choosing between eating without her or letting everything go cold. And the plantains she'd reordered around, because she'd been told they couldn't be made gluten-free? Turns out they absolutely can be. Just miss after miss there. The spicy margarita was more of a margarita that once passed a jalapeño on the street. I asked for extra jalapeño juice and they were happy to help, but without the seeds and ribs it just couldn't deliver on the heat. I'd skip the margs next visit. This just wasn't quite the relaxed easy dinner we'd hoped for, and the price point feels like it's a step ahead of where the experience currently lands. But I'm rooting for them to get there!

It did not disappoint - in fact, it exceeded my expectations. First of all, Ken was an excellent server. He was paced, attentive, informative, and communicative throughout our experience. We were also celebrating our anniversary, and he and the staff made sure to make the occasion memorable (won't give away to keep it special for you). The food was amazing from beginning to end. First, the bread service was prompt, warm, soft, and served with ricotta. Next, the Ceasar salad was made next to where we sat - and to see them mixing the salads so meticulously down to mixing the dressing from scratch was one of the most amazing dining experiences I've had. I love a good Ceasar - and this was amongst the best. We also ordered the Oysters Marcel - and they were so fresh and bright. For our main course, my wife ordered the bone-in filet. It was cooked to perfection (medium rare - medium). I enjoyed redfish topped with Jump Lump Crab Oscar sauce (with crabs). Both proteins were amazing, but I was surprised by how perfectly cooked the fish was. Delectable. For sides, we enjoyed Cream Corn Gratin and Pommes Frites Béarnaise . Both were complementary of the proteins. The dessert was a 10-Layer Chocolate Cake. It was sooo good. Sweet but not too sweet. Good as it looks. Lastly, the ambiance was amazing. It was like stepping into a portal into a different space in time - almost made you forget we were in Atlanta. It's a bit dark inside - but a well lit darkness - just like I like it. Easy to see the entire space but also feel unseen (even though you are). Overall, I'd recommend it to anyone - although we made a pact to not take anyone from our circle. We want to keep this one for us. But hopefully this write up encourages a stranger to enjoy Marcel. Merci

A moody, retro, classic world where…read morebowties are worn unironically in a setting that could best be described as a boxing gym renovated with industrial touches to become a steakhouse in the 1940s. That world could be anywhere. It could even be in Midtown West Atlanta. Service was impeccable. Servers knew we were celebrating our anniversary and were attentive and helpful when making tough menu choices. Pacing was definitely geared toward fine dining. 40 minutes between starters and entree was a BIT long, but it went by. Steak was wonderful (a porterhouse for 2), cooked to a perfect medium rare with seasoning appropriately calibrated to not overpower. East and west coast oysters were fresh and the Marcel salad to start was underdressed and lacked flavor (I enjoyed how they plopped a mound of bleu cheese on top to mix in; I pushed this aside which my server and I laughed about. He said he'd do the same. Maybe it's a sign). Hot bread service with a spreadable cheese and prosciutto was a nice touch. The French fries are probably the best I've ever had, and the asparagus was asparagus (slightly undersalted if anything). Chocolate cake was impressive in presentation but unremarkable for flavor and consistency. My wife enjoyed her decaf coffee as the best she's had at a restaurant, but her cocktail left something to be desired and was extremely tart. A Mexican coke was perfect enough for me. The pricing here is exorbitant. The price tag isn't necessarily a problem given the caliber of dining experience and ambiance that Marcel provides, but given some of the misses on staple items (namesake salad, "famous" chocolate cake), I'm not sure that value for dollar spent is present. In transparency, our dinner comprised of the above was over $400 with tip, which was aligned with expectations walking in the door. Whether the food stood up to the actual place and pricing is a debate. I lean toward an answer of "almost, but close enough not to be insulted." If a gun was pointed at my head to pick the "best steakhouse" in Atlanta, I'd pick Bones without thinking twice. This place is a close second probably, but places like Nowaks in Sandy Springs, while not the same echelon of formality, might have Marcel beat on flavor and definitely have Marcel beat on value for the dollar. Is Marcel's concept valid and well executed? Yes, without question. Would I want somebody else to pay if I returned? Yes, without question. 4.3/5 stars

Lots of niche areas with couch reservations, pool table available. No time for a cigar but that is on my list when I return. Food available from their upstairs sister restaurant.

I stopped in for a quick drink before heading to my next destination, and my experience was not…read moreonly disappointing--it was unacceptable. I sat at the bar and had a little light banter with the bartender who is a brother looking to be in his late 30's-early 40's. When I asked about two fruity cocktails from the menu, he flat-out said he wasn't going to make them. That alone was off-putting. Trying to move forward, I asked what he specialized in, and he said he'd "come up with something." I agreed--but very clearly stated: no rum, because my body does not react well to it. After watching him make drinks for people who ordered after me, he eventually handed me a cocktail I never even saw him prepare. That already raised a flag. I took a few sips, and sure enough--my stomach immediately started reacting the exact way it does when I've had rum. When I asked what alcohol he used, he said, "I don't even know." That response alone tells you everything you need to know. At that point, I reminded him I specifically said no rum. Instead of taking accountability, he tried to argue and backtrack. Let me be clear--when a customer tells you not to use a specific liquor, you don't ignore it, guess, or "forget." That's basic service and basic respect. This situation completely threw off my evening, as I had plans afterward and ended up feeling sick. To make matters worse, I reached out to management and received no response. That lack of accountability speaks volumes. At the end of the day, this wasn't just a bad drink--it was careless service. This staff does not prioritize customer care, and that's a problem. If you choose to visit, be very direct, pay close attention, and don't assume your requests will be respected.

Our server , was quite nice , asked us what were celebrating and very welcoming. He gave us the daily specials and made recommendations. Think his name was Daryl. Great seating and a lil darker inside. We enjoyed our dinner and appetizers and the fellowship was superb. Definitely recommend. It's been a minute since I had dined here and will consider in the future.

Inside the bar is straight ahead to your right. The kitchen is open and visible from the seating area, giving a sense of transparency and feeling of home. Elegant tables arranged with plenty of space to move about lets you know they're more interested in your comfort than maximizing how many bodies they can cram into one big room. Excellent servers are watchful without being disruptive. I like to enjoy my meal without being pestered every few minutes. I ordered the Bone-in Ribeye (my go-to for any steakhouse) and was *NOT* disappointed Perfect temperature. Flawless execution. I could tell they allowed equal time to cook and rest before delivering it to me. Prices are reasonable for the culinary experience and the quality meal you receive. Thank me later. Go and enjoy a special night out tonight!
