Angry Mussels
Tynae T.

Visited BeetleCat during Christmas. Sat outside since it was fully booked inside. The heaters kept it comfortable and the festive decor was nice. The food was good. I was excited to try the fry bread, it was fine but overhyped imo. I really enjoyed the mussels. Overall, 4/5.

BeetleCat is probably my favorite spot in Inman Park. Love the decor and atmosphere and how you can have your choice of experience with the more traditional restaurant at the main level or the 70s living room decor in the lower level. Of course, the food has been excellent across the board every time I've been. Always get the fry bread to start. It's just the perfect combination of sweet, salty, crunchy, and light. My favorites are the spicy shrimp noodles and the angry mussels, but almost everyone I know raves about the Moqueca stew. Pro tip: come for oyster happy hour and stay for dinner.

I am pretty sure I have made my last visit to this restaurant. The restaurant has been reported to have the best lobster rolls according to Maine's Down East Magazine. I am going to respectfully disagree that they have the best lobster rolls. I have dined at this restaurant on at least 3 different occasions. I am not really sure why I keep returning, because I never leave feeling as though I had a great dining experience. Let's start off with the good: The restaurant decor is always nice. During the holidays they even decorate the bottom area with festive decor. They have a. Nice patio too. The service has always been good ! The not so good: To start I hate coming to this area. Parking is always an issue. While you can find street parking, if you park in a garage you will be paying to park! The main area of concern is that the food is just ok to me. I have tried everything from brunch to the lobster rolls. Nothing has left me wanting it again! The lobster roll is just not the best. I am unable to pinpoint what is missing. It just does not do it for me. I am a huge fan of seafood. Unfortunately this spot does not come to mind when I think about the best seafood in the city .

My friends and I chose this place for our girls night out & it did not disappoint!!! The decor is so cute & would be great for a date night as well. Our server was wonderful! All of our food came out timely and everything I ordered was hands down 100/10! The Fry Bread was absolutely delicious, my kale salad was so fresh and flavorful & was big enough to share with the table.

I liked the ambiance of beetlecat and the wait staff was nice. The oysters we ordered though were not to our preference. We did enjoy the fry bread tho! Overall we might check out the holiday themed bar at beetlecat before it disappears or come back when the oysters are more fresh! It was probably just a hit or miss day which happens.

Yapped so much that I didn't get quality pics however let's just say the food was incredible and the staff members were amazing!! We had reservations and our table wasn't ready and they were very accommodating and gave us a glass of champagne on the house. Mallory was our server and she was attentive and we even witnessed her following up with the bar due to a long wait time for our drinks! We sat outside downstairs near the den for their Christmas pop up! The heaters were a great touch! The fry bread was delicious and the honey butter was chefs kiss. We also had the kale salad which was very fresh it had some sort of fruit in it and I'm not sure exactly what it was but was fantastic. We both ordered the spicy noodle shrimp and it was perfect for the chilly weather and the spices definitely opened up our sinuses!!

BeetleCat completely won me over. We grabbed seats at the bar and had the pleasure of being served by Devin, who was personable, warm, and clearly knows what he is doing behind the bar. He made some of the best drinks I have had in Atlanta, including a mezcal espresso martini that was unreal and a spicy margarita that was full of flavor. The food was just as impressive. The mussels were truly the best I have ever tasted, packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The lobster and crab rolls were fresh, buttery, and satisfying. Everything tasted thoughtful and high quality. The energy of the space was great and the service could not have been better. This was such a memorable visit and I am already planning my return.

I WISH I remembered who my waiter was, he was great! He knew the menu through and through, made great recommendations and even took a video for us. The food here is better than I assumed, the only thing I wasn't a fan of is the size of the lobster roll for the price. I feel like you can get cheaper, larger lobster rolls elsewhere for the same quality. It was a good lobster roll though. We got 2 fry breads they were pretty dang delicious. There's street parking (if you can find it) & paid parking garages surrounding it. If you're walking the beltline you can find it as well it is right off the beltline by like a 2 minute walk.

This place has been on my list for quite some time and I was finally able to try it. Located in Inman Park, it a high traffic area of restaurants and this place in centrally located and has parking either on the street or there are parking garages nearby. Walked in and there wasn't any seating available at the time, other than at the oyster bar. We sat there and was greeted by our waitress Aleeza! She was attentive and thorough with explaining certain items on the menu. We had baked oysters and this fried bread which was delicious oh my gosh! I will be getting that again. Also we ordered drinks (try the Tokyo Drift!). The lobster roll is what I ordered and instead of it being on a roll, it was on a hamburger bun; still good though, but a bit overpriced. It was initially crowded when we arrived, but overtime, the calm began and everyone would drift to the downstairs area. Nice vibes and great space.

Doughnut brunch? Really? I was skeptical. I was wrong. Excellent brunch. Between us we had a spicy chicken sandwich on doughnut, crab omelette, double-cheeseburger, and a round of doughnuts (BeetleCat recipe and made there). Each was perfect in its own way. Honestly, no one was disappointed in any way. Oh, and the coffee was great! A local roaster, I don't remember which. Excellent. This place managed to feel both fun and fancy at the same time. We were celebrating a friend's birthday and this was a great way to do it. Services was also great. All-around an excellent experience. I hear it's known as a dinner place, but the weekend brunch was worth stopping in for.

Great holiday pop up, they have till the 31st which is so nice. My husband loves these pop ups and I bought him here for a pre birthday celebration. We found seats at the bar pretty quick and ordered the peppermint polar express and my husband got the gingerbread old fashion, both of us loved our drinks and the vibes. Our bartender was amazing and I even ran into a friend and she said she always comes here for the drinks and it was so nice to catch up with her. Def worth a visit

The holiday bar downstairs was so nice!! The service was great & the food was delicious. Im an oyster girlie but the other dishes were very tasty. Make sure you reserve downstairs! Music was spirited & cozy booths.

The service here was amazing and friendly! Our server and even the host were very helpful. We got a dozen oysters, a cheeseburger and the lobster roll. We definitely came here wanting seafood but didn't check the menu beforehand cause e came during their brunch time. But glad we were still able to get a lobster roll. The cheeseburger was definitely flavorful and juicy but I will say it was just a little too salty for my liking. I also enjoyed the lobster roll but unlike the burger the lobster roll could've been flavored a little more, I think more butter on the buns would do it justice. The lobster meat was juicy and fresh! I also really enjoyed the chips that came with it. Super light and crunchy. The oysters were also so so fresh and good. Overall would love to come back to try their seafood menu!

Can you order oysters for sat brunch time?( not happy hour)

You can't order them DURING brunch, BUT, you can order them from 3pm-close as beetlecat offers a midday menu as they transition from brunch to dinner in between their Saturday and Sunday brunch shifts :) happy shucking!🦐

Is there happy hour on the patio (given Covid)?

It should be

Do they offer grilled, baked or char-grilled oysters?

Baked! Adorned with Brown butter, horseradish, Parmesan, breadcrumb, and chives! It's a true fan favorite at beetlecat! 😋

What time is the happy hour special for oysters?

4pm - 5pm Mon - Fri Make reservations if you want a table and not the bar!

Is there a kids menu? Kid friendly?

Yes and yes. :)

Is there parking?

Street parking & paid garages - they do not validate.

Is this place kid friendly?

Yes, we have had kids there several times for dinner. I recommend a reservation via Open Table so that they don't have to wait. They have a great kids' cheeseburger on their kids' menu as well as plenty of crayons.

Are there any vegan options outside of the menu?(asking for a friend😁)

If you're looking for a vegan option that is not listed on the menu- it's best to call the restaurant to find out if they are able to accommodate.

I didn't realize that the two were connected! FYI, if you sit downstairs, you'll be seated next to where the live music performers will be playing, so it will be louder there. As for the drinks, I tried the Zombie. I loved it so much, I ordered a second one instead of trying a different one! It tasted sweet and slightly tropical with the rum and spiced liqueur. It also had some absinthe, which I was worried about when I first ordered it since I hate the taste of it (not a big fan of black licorice flavors), but I didn't taste it at all! Overall, this place had such a great vibe to it!

Their staff is very knowledgeable and willing to offer recommendations based on your preferences. There was a sign right at the door that says something like, just walk right in. I would say this place is a fast casual restaurant. Not a lot of diners when we came on Friday night but had tons of take out orders. As we were seated, water and menu were dropped off at our table. I didn't get a chance to look at the full menu but felt rushed to order. Luckily, I had already looked at the menu before arriving. I ordered the spritz with a fruity twist (forgot what it was called but if you like aperol spritz, then this is for you) and my husband, a Paloma. We ordered a trio dip with charred baba ganoush, feta, and cauliflower that was served with some fresh pita bread. This was a great start to our meal and wanted more. I ordered the eggplant bowl with both lettuce and rice. Yall, the fries that were served must have been fried twice because it was crispy and saucy. Would definitely get this again, plus it was super filling. My husband ordered the falafel bowl with lettuce, and he did enjoy this as well. My only gripe is that the "bowl" is more of a platter? Food was certainly delicious and drinks were good. I like going to a restaurant that anticipates your needs, but this didn't do it for me. Our water was empty for awhile and we didn't get offered any until we were heading out. But nevertheless, this is a great spot for yummy food on the beltline.

All the entertainment is right there in front of you. You're just steps away from the belt line. If you like to people watch, this is for you! They have outdoor seating. A fire pit. Local spots that has live music and you can tend to hear from the patio. This is by far one of my favorite spots in the Ponce area. Let's start with the service. The service is absolutely amazing. I've never had an issue here. Got my food promptly. Always been helpful when conflicted on food options. The service here is 10 out of 10. Phemonenal customer Service, make you feel welcome. Feels like a small community of people, everyone I encoutered were super sweet from servers to bartenders. Treated me like family and I love establishments like that you can get my money ANY day! I'd like to highlight someone special: Alyssa is truly exceptional. She served as my bartender on my latest visit, and I can't say enough good things about her. I look forward to coming in whenever she's working. She's genuine, fun, and her positive energy is a gem. Turning to the cuisine, I have visited the establishment before, and the food is truly exceptional. Two standout appetizers are the Gambas al Ajillo and the garlic-forward, succulent shrimp; the accompanying bread is full of flavor and serves as an excellent introduction to the meal. The Patatas Bravas also deserve special mention--the garlic aioli, chef kiss. As a pescatarian, which is evident in many of my reviews, I cannot comment on the meat options. Nevertheless, there is a noteworthy selection of vegan and gluten-free dishes available. I sampled the Spanish grilled cheese with truffle and garlic aioli--being a fan of garlic, the generous use here was particularly appealing. This reinterpretation of a childhood favorite significantly elevated the dish. Another highlight was the scallops. Although the dish included corn (which I generally avoid), I found it delicious, nonetheless. The scallops were cooked to perfection and infused with rich flavors. The chef demonstrates considerable expertise in crafting these recipes, and I have no complaints regarding my dining experience. Now, a few of my favorite drinks--though everyone might not share the same tastes. When I visit a Spanish-style restaurant, I have my go-to options. One of my favorites is the passionfruit margarita; it's so delicious, it feels like you're on an island. Of course, my all-time favorite is the strawberry margarita--so good and flavorful. It has just the right balance of not too much lime, with a subtle hint of mint--who knew we needed that? Another top pick is the 'Dragon on Vacation.' I usually avoid spicy drinks, so I had the habanero removed, but it's still the perfect blend of dragon fruit flavor in a margarita--so good. I also love a good Paloma; I appreciate its little kick. Overall, I have no complaints about these drinks!
