Quality of food at Beetlecat has gone waaayyy down. Too bad, given how pricey it is. The Mocqueca (sp?) stew is not good anymore- oysters were only passable. I used to love the stew. We came to start off our mini bar/restaurant crawl in the neighborhood (highly recommend this btw) and it was nice! The fried bread truly was delicious (albeit a little oily), the crudo was delicious as were the oysters, and I enjoyed my drink. We felt slightly awkward because we only ordered appetizers but we figured it was ok because it was before the dinner rush, they weren't busy at all at the time, and we only stayed for about 30ish minutes... the staff didn't say anything rude but didn't make us feel comfortable about not ordering entrees either, if that makes sense? Idk might just have been my interpretation of it, but that's how I felt, so we ended up sort of rushing just to leave. Came here with a group of 7 to celebrate a birthday - it was a great time! Our server was super friendly and really helpful when selecting good drinks and items to order. Now what I didn't know is that their burger and fries are also top of the charts and can go toe-to-toe with any burger in Atlanta to date. I've eaten here before and had great food and great service. I was disapointed by the timing of the food and lack of budding table. In the 1:45 we were there, there a total of 5 guests upstairs. I don't know if one server and trainer were the only servers there covering the bar downstairs as well. Apps and oysters pretty quick. Entrees came about 30- 40 minutes after apps were cleared. One of the first things we appreciated was the parking situation--there's a deck just down the street that costs only a few bucks per hour, making it super convenient. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately, with little to no wait time--a rare treat for a Friday night! We managed to get there right before the oyster happy hour ended (4-6 PM, Monday-Friday), so we decided to sample a few, even though we aren't huge oyster fans. We tried the Conway Royal, Duxbury Selects, WellFleet, and Roaring Point (all $4 each). Each raw oyster had a unique profile--some were medium-salted with a buttery finish, while others had a briny kick. They came with the usual accompaniments: crackers, hot sauce, and horseradish. While the freshness was undeniable, the texture just wasn't for me. But with a little help from the hot sauce and crackers, I powered through! Also worth noting--the oyster selection changes daily, so you never know what you might get. For my entrée, I went with the Fish & Chips ($28), which appeared to be beer-battered cod served alongside crispy, seasoned fries. The fish was piping hot, fresh, and had an amazing crunch, while the fries were the perfect side--not too greasy, just well-seasoned and satisfying. It also came with a trio of dipping sauces: dill, ketchup, and a malt aioli. That malt aioli? Absolutely delicious. To wash it all down, I opted for the Salty Dog Cocktail ($12), a refreshing blend of ruby red vodka, grapefruit, grapefruit bitters, and pink Himalayan salt. I was a bit worried about the grapefruit making it too bitter, but it was actually well-balanced--not overly strong, not too sweet, just right. Overall, BeetleCat delivered a great experience for a casual yet slightly upscale date night. The ambiance was lively but not overwhelming, the service was quick, and the seafood was fresh. While the dinner menu is somewhat limited compared to lunch, I'll definitely be back to explore more options. Absolutely incredible experience and food. I am a seafood snob as I grew up in the Mediterranean and these dishes were absolutely delicious. Fresh and very well seasoned. I also enjoyed how different everything was, with the smoked dip and squid cooked differently to what I have seen before. Finally, that moqueca stew felt like a hug. Just delicious, similar to a yellow Thai curry. And the bread left us all in awe. This place is so good! The upstairs is a little swanky and fancy, downstairs is more groovy with a 70s vibe. Each floor has a bar. There's limited street parking. Staff are friendly and attentive. The food is yummmy! Comfort seafood with the fixins with a little twist. We tried the fry break (kind of like a funnel cake with honey but also a little savory) and the salt and pepper squid (nice & salty, crispy, and complete with fried peppers) as apps and we're not dissapointed. They had some fun cocktails which were all tasty! We split the lobster roll, and with the two apps we're pretty full between the two of us. Lobster roll was pricy but fresh and tasty! My lovely bride says this is her new favorite restaurant. The hostess was friendly and our server was sweet and accommodating. We visited BeetleCat during Christmas season - they deserve bonus points for the festive decorations. I ordered the six baked oysters, prepared like a light version of Oysters Rockefeller, and they were stellar. We were not drinking that night, so my lovely bride tried their Espresso Martini mocktail and then she had another one. I really liked the Purple Rain mocktail. She had the apple fennel salad, which is heavy on the apples, nicely dressed, and quite good. I had the enormous kale salad. Next time we go we will split a salad. I had the Hawaiian New York strip, perfectly cooked to medium rare, but a little too salty for my taste. The spicy shrimp with noodles is fantastic. My lovely bride had the fish & chips and finished it off. The desserts were divine - we would recommend the pineapple upside down cake and the sticky toffee pudding, each with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We will definitely return. read more

Great to split between 2 people. $28 CRAB ROLL: although I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this crab roll, it is SO TINY. Is it a perfect portion for my tiny self? YES. But, it's small. You have been warned. I'd still order it because it's that good. Comes with fries. OVERALL (4/5): Love this spot. They check off all the boxes I'm looking for in a restaurant. I came here specifically for the lobster is a bit smaller for the price but i was delicious. I made reservations online however the restaurant was not busy when i arrived on Sunday afternoon. My party of 3 were sat downstairs. It was a bit chilly down there with the doors being opened for patio service so keep that in mind. Our server was nice she gave us recommendations which my friend chose the fried rice that was full of flavor and texture from the onions cashews and plantain and fry bread which was a sweet, savory and crispy combination. My other friend got the baked oysters which she really enjoyed as they were cooked full of flavor. Overall not a bad place to try if you're in the mood for seafood. read more

I ended up sitting downstairs at the bar for some drinks. The place seemed to be busy. The bartenders were all friendly and inviting. I tried one of there house cocktails and I didn't really Enjoy it so I went with an old fashioned. I had a dozen oysters and I loved the fact they had a selections of different ones. They were all very fresh served with horseradish, mignonete and cocktail sauce. I also got the fish dip, they said they make it daily. I absolutely love BettleCat. I've been many times my birthday and a cousins date (theres plenty of places for pics) being extra special visits, making it my favorite in Georgia. Their oysters are usually my go to and everything else is just extras . The service never disappoints as I usually find a seat without waiting too long or having a reservation but make one that's best. We were an average sized party of 4, so not a large table. Donuts are part of their "thing" so we each ordered a donut as an appetizer. I was expecting a delicious donut that melts in your mouth and I received a subpar donut that definitely wasn't worth $5. For my meal, I chose the Lobster roll. It was $44 and came with no side. The lobster wasn't cooked long enough and it was served on a toasted hamburger bun, not a roll. The bun was way too soft for the lobster. There was no contrast between the meat and the bread. I ordered fries as well. Apparently they use to have a yummy waffle fry, but now they mash the potatoes to then form them into a fry shape and then fry them. Sooooooo wrong. I love fries and this was a complete let down. I had great company, but horrible food. read more
